Dua Abu Hamza Thumali

اَللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد

allahumma salli'ala muhammadin wa aali muhammadin

O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

بِسْمِ للهِ الرَّحمْنِ الرَّحِيمِ

bismilla alrrahmani alrrahimi

In the name of Allāh the Beneficent, the Merciful.

إِلٰهِي لاَ تُؤَدِّبْنِي بِعُقُوبَتِكَ

ilahi la tu'addibni bi`uqubatika

O Allah, do not discipline me by means of Your punishment

وَلاَ تَمْكُرْ بِي فِي حِيلَتِكَ

wa la tamkur bi fi hilatika

and do not subject me to Your planned strategy.

مِنْ ايْنَ لِيَ ٱلْخَيْرُ يَا رَبِّ

min ayna liya alkhayru ya rabbi

How can I attain welfare, O Lord,

وَلاَ يُوجَدُ إِلاَّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ

wa la yujadu illa min `indika

while it is not found elsewhere save with You?

وَمِنْ ايْنَ لِيَ ٱلنَّجَاةُ

wa min ayna liya alnnajatu

How can I find redemption

وَلاَ تُسْتَطَاعُ إِلاَّ بِكَ

wa la tustata`u illa bika

while it cannot be attained save through You?

لاَ ٱلَّذِي احْسَنَ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ عَنْ عَوْنِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ

la alladhi ahsana istaghna `an `awnika wa rahmatika

Neither he who has done righteous deeds can dispense with Your aid and mercy

وَلاَ ٱلَّذِي اسَاءَ وَٱجْتَرَا عَلَيْكَ

wa la alladhi asa'a wa ijtara'a `alayka wa lam yurdika

nor can he who did evildoings, dare to challenge you,

وَلَمْ يُرْضِكَ خَرَجَ عَنْ قُدْرَتِكَ

kharaja `an qudratika

and did not arrive at Your pleasure find an exit out of Your power.

يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ

ya rab-bi ya rab-bi ya rabb

O Lord, O Lord, O Lord

بِكَ عَرَفْتُكَ

bika `arabftuka

I knew of You by You

وَانْتَ دَلَلْتَنِي عَلَيْكَ

wa anta dalaltani `alayka

and You directed me to You

وَدَعَوْتَنِي إِلَيْكَ

wa da`awtani ilakya

and called me to You

وَلَوْلا انْتَ لَمْ ادْرِ مَا انْتَ

wa lawla anta lam adri ma anta

and without You I would not have known what You are.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي ادْعُوهُ فَيُجِيبُنِي

alhamdu lillahi alladhi ad`uhu fayujibuni

All Praise is for Allah whom I call upon with my needs then He answers me

وَإِنْ كُنْتُ بَطِيئاً حِينَ يَدْعُونِي

wa in kuntu bati'an hina yad`uni

even though I was slow when He calls upon me

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي اسْالُهُ فَيُعْطِينِي

walhamdu lillahi alladhi as'aluhu fayu`tini

All Praise is for Allah whom I supplicate and He grants me (what I plead for)

وَإِنْ كُنْتُ بَخِيلاً حِينَ يَسْتَقْرِضُنِي

wa in kuntu bakhilan hina yastaqriduni

even though I was stingy when He sought a loan from me.

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي انَادِيهِ كُلَّمَا شِئْتُ لِحَاجَتِي

walhamdu lillahi alladhi unadihi kullama shi'tu lihajati

All Praise is for Allah whom I call upon with my needs whenever I wish

وَاخْلُو بِهِ حَيْثُ شِئْتُ لِسِرِّي بِغَيْرِ شَفِيعٍ

wa akhlu bihi haythu shi'tu lisirri bighayri shafi`in

and I entrust Him with my secrets without an intercessor

فَيَقْضِي لِي حَاجَتِي

fayaqdi li hajati

and He grants me my wishes

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي لاَ ادْعُو غَيْرَهُ

alhamdu lillahi alladhi la ad`u ghayrahu

All Praise is for Allah whom I do not plead to anyone but Him

وَلَوْ دَعَوْتُ غَيْرَهُ لَمْ يَسْتَجِبْ لِي دُعَائِي

wa law da`awtu ghayrahu lam yastajib li du`a'i

for if I pleaded to others, they would not grant me

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي لاَ ارْجُو غَيْرَهُ

walhamdu lillahi alladhi la arju ghayrahu

All praise be to Allah alone for other than Whom I do not hope

وَلَوْ رَجَوْتُ غَيْرَهُ َلاخْلَفَ رَجَائِي

wa law rajawtu ghayrahu la'akhlafa raja'i

All praise be to Allah alone Who has accepted me to depend upon Him and, thus, bestowed favors upon me

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي وَكَلَنِي إِلَيْهِ فَاكْرَمَنِي

walhamdu lillahi alladhi wakalani ilayhi fa akramani

All Praise is for Allah who dignified me by becoming the Disposer of my affairs

وَلَمْ يَكِلْنِي إِلَىٰ ٱلنَّاسِ فَيُهِينُونِي

wa lam yakilni ila alnnasi fayuhinuni

instead of making me rely on others who then would humiliate me

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي تَحَبَّبَ إِلَيَّ

walhamdu lillahi alladhi tahabbaba ilayya

All Praise is for Allah who endeared me

وَهُوَ غَنِيٌّ عَنِّي

wa huwa ghaniyyun `anni

even though He is not in need of me

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي يَحْلُمُ عَنِّي

walhamdu lillahi alladhi yahlumu `anni

All Praise is for Allah who treats me with clemency

حَتَّىٰ كَانِّي لاَ ذَنْبَ لِي

hatta ka'anni la dhanba li

just as if I have no sin

فَرَبِّي احْمَدُ شَيْءٍ عِنْدِي

fa rabbi ahmadu shay'in `indi

So my Lord is the most praised by me of all

وَاحَقُّ بِحَمْدِي

wa ahaqqu bihamdi

and most worthy of my praise

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اجِدُ سُبُلَ ٱلْمَطَالِبِ إِلَيْكَ مُشْرَعَةً

allahumma inni ajidu subula almatalibi ilayka mushra`atan

O' Allah! I find the roads of wishes to You wide open

وَمَنَاهِلَ ٱلرَّجَاءِ لَدَيْكَ مُتْرَعَةً

wa manahila alrraja'i ladayka mutra`atan

And the rivers of hope to You vast and running

وَٱلاِسْتِعَانَةَ بِفَضْلِكَ لِمَنْ امَّلَكَ مُبَاحَةً

walisti`anata bifadlika liman ammalaka mubahatan

And counting on Your bountifulness (in times of need) for those who wished You freely accessible

وَابْوَابَ ٱلدُّعَاءِ إِلَيْكَ لِلصَّارِخِينَ مَفْتُوحَةً

wa abwaba alddu`a'i ilayka lilssarikhina maftuhatan

And the gates of prayer to those who are disparate, wide ajar

وَاعْلَمُ انَّكَ لِلرَّاجِين بِمَوْضِعِ إِجَابَةٍ

wa a`lamu annaka lilrrajina bimawdi`i ijabatin

And I know that You are for those who ask You in the position of answer

وَلِلْمَلْهُوفِينَ بِمَرْصَدِ إِغَاثَةٍ

wa lilmalhufina bimarsadi ighathatin

And for those who are distressed, You are in a posture of rescue

وَانَّ فِي ٱللَّهْفِ إِلَىٰ جُودِكَ

wa anna fi allahfi ila judika

And in disparately seeking Your generosity

وَٱلرِّضَا بِقَضَائِكَ

wa alrrida biqada'ika

and being content with Your judgment

عِوَضاً مِنْ مَنْعِ ٱلْبَاخِلِينَ

`iwadan min man`i albakhilina

I find it compensating from the rejection of the misers

وَمَنْدُوحَةً عَمَّا فِي ايْدِي ٱلْمُسْتَاثِرِينَ

wa manduhatan `amma fi aydi almusta'thirina

and more satisfying than the handouts of the selfish

وَانِّ ٱلرَّاحِـلَ إِلَيْكَ قَرِيبُ ٱلْمَسَافَةِ

wa anna alrrahila ilayka qaribu almasafati

And truly traveling to You is short in duration

وَانَّكَ لاَ تَحْتَجِبُ عَنْ خَلْقِكَ

wa annaka la tahtajibu `an khalqika

and You do not veil Yourself from Your creatures

إِلاَّ انْ تَحْجُبَهُمُ ٱلاعْمَالُ دُونَكَ

illa an tahjibahum al-a`malu dunaka

unless their own misdeeds would block them from You

وَقَدْ قَصَدْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِطَلِبَتِي

wa qad qasadtu ilayka bitalibati

And I have sought You for my wish

وَتَوَجَّهْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِحَاجَتِي

wa tawajjahtu ilayka bihajati

and directed my need to You

وَجَعَلْتُ بِكَ ٱسْتِغَاثَتِي

wa ja`altu bika istighathati

and I depend on You for my rescue

وَبِدُعَائِكَ تَوَسُّلِي

wa bidu`a'ika tawassuli

and I assign my pleading to You by praying to You

مِنْ غَيْرِ ٱسْتِحْقَاقٍ لاﹾِسْتِمَاعِكَ مِنِّي

min ghayri istihqaqin listima`ika minni

doing this while knowing that I am not worthy of Your listening to me

وَلاَ ٱسْتِيجَابٍ لِعَفْوِكَ عَنِّي

wa la istijabin li`afwika `anni

nor do I have a right on You to pardon me

بَلْ لِثِقَتِي بِكَرَمِكَ

bal lithiqati bikaramika

but I do so because I trust in Your generosity

وَسُكُونِي إِلَىٰ صِدْقِ وَعْدِكَ

wa sukuni ila sidqi wa`dika

and I submit to Your true promise (to answer our prayers)

وَلَجَائِي إِلَىٰ ٱلإِيـمَانِ بِتَوْحِيدِكَ

wa laja'i ila al-imani bitawhidika

and I take refuge through believing in Your unity

وَيَقِينِي بِمَعْرِفَتِكَ مِنِّي

wa yaqini bima`rifatika minni

and through my certainty of knowledge about You

انْ لاَ رَبَّ لِي غَيْرُكَ

an la rabba li ghayruka

that indeed I have no other god or lord but You

وَلاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ

wa la ilaha illa anta

only You;

وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ

wahdaka la sharika laka

there is no partner for You

اَللَّهُمَّ انْتَ ٱلْقَائِلُ وَقَوْلُكَ حَقٌّ

allahumma anta alqa'ilu wa qawluka haqqun

O' my Lord! You did say and all of what You say is true

وَوَعْدُكَ صِدْقٌ:

wa wa`duka sidqun

and what You promise is unconditional

”وَٱسْالُوٱ ٱللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ

was'alu alllaha min fadlihi

that " O' (believers) ask Allah of His bounty

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيماً“

inna allaha kana bikum rahiman

for Allah is Merciful towards you.”

وَلَيْسَ مِنْ صِفَاتِكَ يَا سَيِّدِي

wa laysa min sifatika ya sayyidi

And it is not from Your features, O' my Master

انْ تَامُرَ بِٱلسُّؤَالِ وَتَمْنَعَ ٱلْعَطِيَّةَ

an ta'mura bissu'ali wa tamna`a al`atiyyata

to order me to ask and prevent the answer

وَانْتَ ٱلْمَنَّانُ بِٱلْعَطِيَّاتِ عَلَىٰ اهْلِ مَمْلَكَتِكَ

wa anta almannanu bil`atiyyati `ala ahli mamlakatika

and You are the Grantor of all bounties on all residents of Your kingdom

وَٱلْعَائِدُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِتَحَنُّنِ رَافَتِكَ

wal`a'idu `alayhim bitahannuni ra'fatika

and the Giver of Your consoling tenderness

إِلٰهِي رَبَّيْتَنِي فِي نِعَمِكَ وَإِحْسَانِكَ صَغِيراً

ilahi rabbaytani fi ni`amika wa ihsanika saghiran

O' my Lord! You have brought me up in Your gifts, and bounties since I was youthful

وَنَوَّهْتَ بِٱسْمِي كَبِيراً

wa nawwahta bismi kabiran

and elevated my designation as I grew older

فَيَا مَنْ رَبَّانِي فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا بِإِحْسَانِهِ

faya man rabbani fi alddunya bi'ihsanihi

So, O' the One who brought me up in this life with His benevolence,

وَتَفَضُّلِهِ وَنِعَمِهِ

wa tafaddulihi wa ni`amihi

bountifulness and blessings

وَاشَارَ لِي فِي ٱلآخِرَةِ إِلَىٰ عَفْوِهِ وَكَرَمِهِ

wa ashara li fi al-akhirati ila `afwihi wa karamihi

and indicated to me His forgiveness and generosity in the hereafter

مَعْرِفَتِي يَا مَوْلاَيَ دَلِيلِي عَلَيْكَ

ma`rifati ya mawlaya dalili `alayka

My knowledge, O' my Master, is that which guides me to You

وَحُبِّي لَكَ شَفِيعِي إِلَيْكَ

wa hubbi laka shafi`i ilayka

and my love is my intercessor to You

وَانَا وَاثِقٌ مِنْ دَلِيلِي بِدَلاَلَتِكَ

wa ana wathiqun min dalili bidalalatika

and I am trusting of my evidence with Your guidance

وَسَاكِنٌ مِنْ شَفِيعِي إِلَىٰ شَفَاعَتِكَ

wa sakinun min shafi`i ila shafa`atika

and comfortable of my intercessor with Your intercession

ادْعُوكَ يَا سَيِّدِي بِلِسَانٍ قَدْ اخْرَسَهُ ذَنْبُهُ

ad`uka ya sayyidi bilisanin qad akhrasahu dhanbuhu

I pray to You, O' my master, with a tongue that has been paralyzed by its sin

رَبِّ انَاجِيكَ بِقَلْبٍ قَدْ اوْبَقَهُ جُرْمُهُ

rabbi unajika biqalbin qad awbaqahu jurmuhu

O' my Lord, I confide to You with a heart that has been doomed by its mischief

ادْعُوكَ يَا رَبِّ رَاهِباً رَاغِباً

ad`uka ya rabbi rahiban raghiban

I pray to You, O' my Lord, frightened but wishful

رَاجِياً خَائِفاً

rajiyan kha'ifan

hopeful but fearful

إِذَا رَايْتُ مَوْلاَيَ ذُنُوبِي فَزِعْتُ

idha ra'aytu mawlaya dhunubi fazi`tu

If I contemplate my sins, O' my Lord, I become scared

وَإِذَا رَايْتُ كَرَمَكَ طَمِعْتُ

wa idha ra'aytu karamaka tami`tu

but when I remember Your generosity I yearn

فَإِنْ عَفَوْتَ فَخَيْرُ رَاحِمٍ

fa'in `afawta fakhayru rahimin

So, if You forgive, You are the most merciful

وَإِنْ عَذَّبْتَ فَغَيْرُ ظَالِمٍ

wa'in `adhdhabta faghayru zalimin

and if You punish, You have not unjustly judged

حُجَّتِي يَا اللَّهُ فِي جُرْاتِي عَلَىٰ مَسْالَتِكَ

hujjati ya allahu fi jur'ati `ala mas'alatika

My excuse, O' Allah in my daring to ask You

مَعَ إِتْيَانِي مَا تَكْرَهُ جُودُكَ وَكَرَمُكَ

ma`a ityani ma takrahu juduka wa karamuka

even though I have committed what You hate is Your benevolence and generosity

وَعُدَّتِي فِي شِدَّتِي مَعَ قِلَّةِ حَيَائِي رَافَتُكَ وَرَحْمَتُكَ

wa `uddati fi shiddati ma`a qillati haya'i ra'fatuka wa rahmatuka

and my preparation for my adversity given that I lack shyness (in committing sin), is Your forbearance and mercy

وَقَدْ رَجَوْتُ انْ لاَ تَخِيبَ بَيْنَ ذَيْنِ وَذَيْنِ مُنْيَتِي

wa qad rajawtu an la takhiba bayna dhayni wa dhayni munyati

And I am wishful that my hope will not be disappointed

فَحَقِّقْ رَجَائِي

fahaqqiq raja'i

so fulfill my ambition

وَٱسْمَعْ دُعَائِي

wasma` du`a'i

and accept my prayer

يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ دَعَاهُ دَاعٍ

ya khayra man da`ahu da`in

O' The Best who was ever prayed to!

وَافْضَلَ مَنْ رَجَاهُ رَاجٍ

wa afdala man rajahu rajin

O' The Most bountiful who was ever wished!

عَظُمَ يَا سَيِّدِي امَلِي وَسَاءَ عَمَلِي

`azuma ya sayyidi amali wa sa'a `amali

My hope, my Master is ever great but my deeds have worsened

فَاعْطِنِي مِنْ عَفْوِكَ بِمِقْدَارِ امَلِي

fa'a`tini min `afwika bimiqdari amali

so grant me from Your pardon by as much as I had hoped

وَلاَ تُؤَاخِذْنِي بِاسْوَءِ عَمَلِي

wa la tu'akhidhni bi'aswa'i `amali

and please, do not judge me by my worst mischief

فَإِنَّ كَرَمَكَ يَجِلُّ عَنْ مُجَازَاةِ ٱلْمُذْنِبِينَ

fa'inna karamaka yajillu `an mujazati almudhnibina

for Your generosity is greater than punishing the sinners

وَحِلْمَكَ يَكْبُرُ عَنْ مُكَافَاةِ ٱلْمُقَصِّرِينَ

wa hilmaka yakburu `an mukafa'ati almuqassirina

and Your forbearance and patience is higher than recompensing the inadequates

وَانَا يَا سَيِّدِي عَائِذٌ بِفَضْلِكَ

wa ana ya sayyidi `a'idhun bifadlika

I am, my Master, seeking refuge through Your bountifulness

هَارِبٌ مِنْكَ إِلَيْكَ

haribun minka ilayka

I am escaping from You to You

مُتَنَجِّزٌ مَا وَعَدْتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّفْحِ عَمَّنْ احْسَنَ بِكَ ظَنّاً

mutanajjizun ma wa`adta min alssafhi `amman ahsana bika zannan

while anticipating Your promise to forgive those who possessed good convictions toward You

وَمَا انَا يَا رَبِّ وَمَا خَطَرِي

wa ma ana ya rabbi wa ma khatari

Who am I, my Lord, and what is my danger!

هَبْنِي بِفَضْلِكَ

habni bifadlika

Provide me with Your bounties

وَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيَّ بِعَفْوِكَ

wa tasaddaq `alayya bi`afwika

and grant me charity with Your pardon

ايْ رَبِّ جَلِّلْنِي بِسِتْرِكَ

ay rabbi jallilni bisitrika

O' my Lord, cover me with Your protection

وَٱعْفُ عَنْ تَوْبِيخِي بِكَرَمِ وَجْهِكَ

wa`fu `an tawbikhi bikarami wajhika

and pardon me of my punishment by the honor of you face

فَلَوِ ٱطَّلَعَ ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَىٰ ذَنْبِي غَيْرُكَ مَا فَعَلْتُهُ

falaw ittala`a alyawma `ala dhanbi ghayruka ma fa`altuhu

For if any one today other than You would have known of my sin I would not have sinned

وَلَوْ خِفْتُ تَعْجِيلَ ٱلْعُقُوبَةِ لاﹾجْتَنَبْتُهُ

wa law khiftu ta`jila al`uqubati lajtanabtuhu

And if I feared that You may hasten my punishment, I would have avoided sinning

لاَ لانَّكَ اهْوَنُ ٱلنَّاظِرِينَ إِلَيَّ

la li'annaka ahwanu alnnazirina ilayya

Not because You are not an important watcher

وَاخَفُّ ٱلْمُطَّلِعِينَ عَلَيَّ

wa akhaffu almuttali`ina `alayya

nor an unworthy onlooker

بَلْ لانَّكَ يَا رَبِّ خَيْرُ ٱلسَّاتِرِينَ

bal li'annaka ya rabbi khayru alssatirina

but because You, my Lord, are the best secret keeper

وَاحْكَمُ ٱلْحَاكِمِينَ

wa ahkamu alhakimina

and the Wisest of all rulers

وَاكْرَمُ ٱلاكْرَمِينَ

wa akramu al-akramina

and Most generous of all generous

سَتَّارُ ٱلْعُيُوبِ

sattaru al`uyubi

O' Protector of secrets!

غَفَّارُ ٱلذُّنُوبِ

ghaffaru aldhdhunubi

O' Oft-forgiver of sins!

عَلاَّمُ ٱلْغُيُوبِ

`allamu alghuyubi

O' Knower of all that is hidden!

تَسْتُرُ ٱلذَّنْبَ بِكَرَمِكَ

tasturu aldhdhanba bikaramika

You protect the secretive sin with Your generosity

وَتُؤَخِّرُ ٱلْعُقُوبَةَ بِحِلْمِكَ

wa tu'akhkhiru al`uqubata bihilmika

and You delay my punishment with Your patience

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ عَلَىٰ حِلْمِكَ بَعْدَ عِلْمِكَ

falaka alhamdu `ala hilmika ba`da `ilmika

So to You extends all the Praise for having known and yet been patient

وَعَلَىٰ عَفْوِكَ بَعْدَ قُدْرَتِكَ

wa `ala `afwika ba`da qudratika

and for having pardoned even though You are capable (of punishing)

وَيَحْمِلُنِي وَيُجَرِّئُنِي عَلَىٰ مَعْصِيَتِكَ حِلْمُكَ عَنِّي

wa yahmiluni wa yujarri'uni `ala ma`siyatika hilmuka `anni

And what motivates and dares me to disobey You is Your patience with me

وَيَدْعُونِي إِلَىٰ قِلَّةِ ٱلْحَيَاءِ سِتْرُكَ عَلَيَّ

wa yad`uni ila qillati alhaya'i sitruka `alayya

and what invites me to the lack of shyness (from You) is Your protection of my (concealed) sins

وَيُسْرِعُنِي إِلَىٰ ٱلتَوَثُّبِ عَلَىٰ مَحَارِمِكَ مَعْرِفَتِي بِسَعَةِ رَحْمَتِكَ وَعَظِيمِ عَفْوِكَ

wa yusri`uni ila alttawaththubi `ala maharimika ma`rifati bias`ati rahmatika wa `azimi `afwika

And what rushes me towards Your forbidden actions is my awareness of the vastness of Your mercy and the greatness of Your forgiveness

يَا حَلِيمُ يَا كَرِيمُ

ya halimu ya karimu

O' Forbearer! O' Generous!

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ

ya hayyu ya qayyumu

O' One who is living and self-subsisting!

يَا غَافِرَ ٱلذَّنْبِ

ya ghafira aldhdhanbi

O' Forgiver of sin!

يَا قَابِلَ ٱلتَّوْبِ

ya qabila alttawbi

O' Acceptor of repentance!

يَا عَظِيمَ ٱلْمَنِّ

ya `azima almanni

O' Greatest giver of all good!

يَا قَدِيمَ ٱلإِحْسَانِ

ya qadima al-ihsani

O' Ancient in bountifulness!

ايْنَ سِتْرُكَ ٱلْجَمِيلُ

ayna sitruka aljamilu

I call upon Your beautiful protection of secrets

ايْنَ عَفْوُكَ ٱلْجَلِيلُ

ayna `afwuka aljalilu

I call upon Your abundant pardon

ايْنَ فَرَجُكَ ٱلْقَرِيبُ

ayna farajuka alqaribu

I call upon Your neighboring relief

ايْنَ غِيَاثُكَ ٱلسَّرِيعُ

ayna ghiyathuka alssari`u

I call upon Your quick rescue

ايْنَ رَحْمَتُكَ ٱلْوَاسِعَةُ

ayna rahmatuka alwasi`atu

I call upon Your vast mercy and compassion

ايْنَ عَطَايَاكَ ٱلْفَاضِلَةُ

ayna `atayaka alfadilatu

I call upon Your bountiful gifts

ايْنَ مَوَاهِبُكَ ٱلْهَنِيئَةُ

ayna mawahibuka alhani'atu

I call upon Your blessed awards

ايْنَ صَنَائِعُكَ ٱلسَّنِيَّةُ

ayna sana'i`uka alssaniyyatu

I call upon Your splendid favors

ايْنَ فَضْلُكَ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

ayna fadluka al`azimu

I call upon Your immense bountifulness

ايْنَ مَنُّكَ ٱلْجَسِيمُ

ayna mannuka aljasimu

I call upon Your enormous endowments

ايْنَ إِحْسَانُكَ ٱلْقَدِيمُ

ayna ihsanuka alqadimu

I call upon Your ancient benefaction

ايْنَ كَرَمُكَ يَا كَرِيمُ

ayna karamuka ya karimu

I call upon Your benevolence, O' Most Generous

بِهِ وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ فَٱسْتَنْقِذْنِي

bihi wa bimuhammadin wa ali muhammadin fastanqidhni

By it (what I mentioned of Your features) and in the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, I seek Your rescue

وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ فَخَلِّصْنِي

wa birahmatika fakhallisni

and by Your compassion, please relieve me

يَا مُحْسِنُ

ya muhsinu

O' Benevolent!

يَا مُجْمِلُ

ya mujmilu

O' Creator of beauty!

يَا مُنْعِمُ يَا مُفْضِلُ

ya mun`imu ya mufdilu

O' Benefactor! O' Bountiful!

لَسْتُ اتَّكِلُ فِي ٱلنَّجَاةِ مِنْ عِقَابِكَ عَلَىٰ اعْمَالِنَا

lastu attakilu fi alnnajati min `iqabika `ala a`malina

I do not depend on our (good) deeds to achieve salvation from Your punishment

بَلْ بِفَضْلِكَ عَلَيْنَا

bal bifadlika `alayna

rather I trust it to Your bountifulness toward us

لاِنَّكَ اهْلُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَاهْلُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ

li'annaka ahlu alttaqwa wa ahlu almaghfirati

for You are the Lord of righteousness and the Lord of forgiveness

تُبْدِئُ بِٱلإِحْسَانِ نِعَماً

tubdi'u bil-ihsani ni`aman

You initiate Your giving through Your graciousness

وَتَعْفُو عَنِ ٱلذَّنْبِ كَرَماً

wa ta`fu `an aldhdhanbi karaman

and You pardon sin with Your generosity

فَمَا نَدْرِي مَا نَشْكُرُ

fama nadri ma nashkuru

and we do not know what we should praise more

اجَمِيلَ مَا تَنْشُرُ امْ قَبِيحَ مَا تَسْتُرُ

ajamila ma tanshuru am qabiha ma tasturu

is it the beauties that You distribute or the sins whose secretiveness You protect

امْ عَظِيمَ مَا ابْلَيْتَ وَاوْلَيْتَ

am `azima ma ablayta wa awlayta

or the greatness of what You have granted and fulfilled

امْ كَثِيرَ مَا مِنْهُ نَجَّيْتَ وَعَافَيْتَ

am kathira ma minhu najjayta wa `afayta

or the many misfortunes You have averted and ills You have cured

يَا حَبِيبَ مَنْ تَحَبَّبَ إِلَيْكَ

ya habiba man tahabbaba ilayka

O' The lover of whomever endeared You!

وَيَا قُرَّةَ عَيْنِ مَنْ لاَذَ بِكَ وَٱنْقَطَعَ إِلَيْكَ

wa ya qurrata `ayni man ladha bika wa inqata`a ilayka

O' The delight of the eye of who sought You for refuge and dedicated himself to You!

انْتَ ٱلْمُحْسِنُ وَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسِيئُونَ

anta lmuhsinu wa nahnu almusi'una

You are the All-benevolent and we are the malevolent

فَتَجَاوَزْ يَا رَبِّ عَنْ قَبِيحِ مَا عِنْدَنَا بِجَمِيلِ مَا عِنْدَكَ

fatajawaz ya rabbi `an qabihi ma `indana bijamili ma `indaka

So pardon, O' my Lord, the ugly that we have with the beauties that You have

وَايُّ جَهْلٍ يَا رَبِّ لاَ يَسَعُهُ جُودُكَ

wa ayyu jahlin ya rabbi la yasa`uhu juduka

And what ignorance, O' my Lord, cannot be accommodated by Your benevolence?

اوْ ايُّ زَمَانٍ اطْوَلُ مِنْ انَاتِكَ

aw ayyu zamanin atwalu min anatika

And what era is longer than Your patience?

وَمَا قَدْرُ اعْمَالِنَا فِي جَنْبِ نِعَمِكَ

wa ma qadaru a`malina fi janbi ni`amika

And what significance is our deeds compared with Your awards?

وَكَيْفَ نَسْتَكْثِرُ اعْمَالاً نُقَابِلُ بِهَا كَرَمَكَ

wa kayfa nastakthiru a`malan nuqabilu biha karamaka

And how can we hail our good deeds when we observe Your generosity?

بَلْ كَيْفَ يَضِيقُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْمُذْنِبِينَ مَا وَسِعَهُمْ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ

bal kayfa yadiqu `ala almudhnibina ma wasi`ahum min rahmatika

Yet how can sinners despair when they are encompassed by Your vast mercy?

يَا وَاسِعَ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ

ya wasi`a almaghfirati

O' Vast Forgiver!

يَا بَاسِطَ ٱلْيَدَيْنِ بِٱلرَّحْمَةِ

ya basita alyadayni bilrrahmati

O' Extender of both hands with mercy!

فَوَعِزَّتِكَ يَا سَيِّدِي

fawa`izzatika ya sayyidi

I swear with Your exalted might, O' Master

لَوْ نَهَرْتَنِي مَا بَرِحْتُ مِنْ بَابِكَ

law nahartani ma barihtu min babika

that if You rebuked me, I would not depart from Your door

وَلاَ كَفَفْتُ عَنْ تَمَلُّقِكَ

wa la kafaftu `an tamalluqika

and I won't cease to compliment You

لِمَا ٱنْتَهَىٰ إِلَيَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَعْرِفَةِ بِجُودِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ

lima intaha ilayya min alma`rifati bijudika wa karamika

since I have indeed come to grasp the knowledge of Your generosity and benevolence

وَانْتَ ٱلْفَاعِلُ لِمَا تَشَاءُ

wa anta alfa`ilu lima tasha'u

And You are the doer of whatever You desire

تُعَذِّبُ مَنْ تَشَاءُ بِمَا تَشَاءُ كَيْفَ تَشَاءُ

tu`adhdhibu man tasha'u bima tasha'u kayfa tasha'u

You punish whomever You wish, with whatever You wish and however You wish

وَتَرْحَمُ مَنْ تَشَاءُ بِمَا تشَاءُ كَيْفَ تَشَاءُ

wa tarhamu man tasha'u bima tasha'u kayfa tasha'u

and You bestow Your mercy on whomever You wish, with whatever You wish, and however You wish

لاَ تُسْالُ عَنْ فِعْلِكَ

la tus'alu `an fi`lika

You are never questioned about Your doings

وَلاَ تُنَازَعُ فِي مُلْكِكَ

wa la tunaza`u fi mulkika

neither is there any struggle in Your kingdom

وَلاَ تُشَارَكُ فِي امْرِكَ

wa la tusharaku fi amrika

nor is there any partnership in Your command

وَلاَ تُضَادُّ فِي حُكْمِكَ

wa la tudaddu fi hukmika

or conflict in Your judgment

وَلاَ يَعْتَرِضُ عَلَيْكَ احَدٌ فِي تَدْبِيرِكَ

wa la ya`taridu `alayka ahadun fi tadbirika

and no one can oppose You in Your disposition of affairs

لَكَ ٱلْخَلْقُ وَٱلامْرُ

laka alkhalqu wal-amru

To You belongs all of the creation and command

تَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

tabaraka allahu rabbu al`alamina

Indeed Allah, the Most Glorious, is the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds

يَا رَبِّ هٰذَا مَقَامُ مَنْ لاَذَ بِكَ

ya rabbi hadha maqamu man ladha bika

O' my Lord! This is the posture of the one who sought refuge through You

وَٱسْتَجَارَ بِكَرَمِكَ

wastajara bikaramika

and allied himself with Your generosity

وَالِفَ إِحْسَانَكَ وَنِعَمَكَ

wa alifa ihsanaka wa ni`amaka

and became accustomed to Your forbearance and favors

وَانْتَ ٱلْجَوَادُ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يَضِيقُ عَفْوُكَ

wa anta aljawadu alladhi la yadiqu `afwuka

And You are the benevolent whose forgiveness is never strained

وَلاَ يَنْقُصُ فَضْلُكَ

wa la yanqusu fadluka

neither are Your bounties ever decreasing

وَلاَ تَقِلُّ رَحْمَتُكَ

wa la taqillu rahmatuka

nor is Your mercy ever lacking

وَقَدْ تَوَثَّقْنَا مِنْكَ بِٱلصَّفْحِ ٱلْقَدِيمِ

wa qad tawaththaqna minka bilssafhi alqadimi

And we have known with certainty of Your ancient pardon,

وَٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ وَٱلرَّحْمَةِ ٱلْوَاسِعَةِ

walfadli al`azimi walrrahmati alwasi`ati

great bountifulness and vast mercy

افَتُرَاكَ يَا رَبِّ تُخْلِفُ ظُنُونَنَا اوْ تُخَيِّبُ آمَالَنَا

afaturaka ya rabbi tukhlifu zununana aw tukhayyibu amalana

Would You, O' Allah, ever disappoint our thoughts or let down our hopes?

كَلاَّ يَا كَرِيمُ فَلَيْسَ هٰذَا ظَنُّنَا بِكَ

kalla ya karimu falaysa hadha zannuna bika

No never, O' Most Generous! for it is not what we expect of You

وَلاَ هٰذَا فِيكَ طَمَعُنَا

wa la hadha fika tama`una

nor is it what we aspire for

يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ لَنَا فِيكَ امَلاً طَوِيلاً كَثِيراً

ya rabbi inna lana fika amalan tawilan kathiran

O' Allah, we have a greater and everlasting hope in You

إِنَّ لَنَا فِيكَ رَجَاءً عَظِيماً

inna lana fika raja'an `aziman

We anticipate prolonged and immense prospect in You We anticipate great desire in You

عَصَيْنَاكَ وَنَحْنُ نَرْجُو انْ تَسْتُرَ عَلَيْنَا

`asaynaka wa nahnu narju an tastura `alayna

And we prayed to You and we hope You would answer us

وَدَعَوْنَاكَ وَنَحْنُ نَرْجُو انْ تَسْتَجِيبَ لَنَا

wa da`awnaka wa nahnu narju an tastajiba lana

We disobeyed You and now we wish that You protect our secret (sins)

فَحَقِّقْ رَجَاءَنَا مَوْلانَا

fahaqqiq raja'ana mawlana

So fulfill our aspiration, O' our Master

فَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا نَسْتَوْجِبُ بِاعْمَالِنَا

faqad `alimna ma tastawjibu bi'a`malina

for otherwise, we realize (the punishment) we deserve as a result of our bad deeds

وَلكِنْ عِلْمُكَ فِينَا وَعِلْمُنَا بِانَّكَ لاَ تَصْرِفُنَا عَنْكَ

wa lakin `ilmuka fina wa `ilmuna bi'annaka la tasrifuna `anka

But Your awareness of our conduct and our knowledge that You indeed won't send us away from You

حَثَّنَا عَلَىٰ ٱلرَّغْبَةِ إِلَيْكَ

haththana `ala alrraghbati ilayka

has motivated us to seek You

وَإِنْ كُنَّا غَيْرَ مُسْتَوْجِبِينَ لِرَحْمَتِكَ

wa in kunna ghayra mustawjibina lirahmatika

and even though we are not worthy of Your mercy

فَانْتَ اهْلٌ انْ تَجُودَ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَىٰ ٱلْمُذْنِبِينَ بِفَضْلِ سَعَتِكَ

fa'anta ahlun an tajuda `alayna wa `ala almudhnibina bifadli sa`atika

You are worthy of bestowing Your generosity on us and on all the sinners due to Your vast compassion

فَٱمْنُنْ عَلَيْنَا بِمَا انْتَ اهْلُهُ

famnun `alayna bima anta ahluhu

So, award us with what You are worthy of

وَجُدْ عَلَيْنَا فَإِنَّا مُحْتَاجُونَ إِلَىٰ نَيْلِكَ

wa jud `alayna fa'inna muhtajuna ila naylika

and grant us for we are in need of Your bounty

يَا غَفَّارُ بِنُورِكَ ٱهْتَدَيْنَا

ya ghaffaru binurika ihtadayna

O' Most Forgiving! With Your light we were guided

وَبِفَضْلِكَ ٱسْتَغْنَيْنَا

wa bifadlika istaghnayna

and with Your bounties we became richer

وَبِنِعْمَتِكَ اصْبَحْنَا وَامْسَيْنَا

wa bini`matika asbahna wa amsayna

and with Your favors we are encountered mornings and evenings

ذُنُوبُنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

dhunubuna bayna yadayka

Our sins are before You

نَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ مِنْهَا وَنَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ

nastaghfiruka alllahumma minha wa natubu ilayka

and we ask You, O' Master, for forgiveness and we hereby repent

تَتَحَبَّبُ إِلَيْنَا بِٱلنِّعَمِ وَنُعَارِضُكَ بِٱلذُّنُوبِ

tatahabbabu ilayna bilnni`ami wa nu`ariduka bildhdhunubi

You befriend us with Your gifts but we reward You by sins

خَيْرُكَ إِلَيْنَا نَازِلٌ

khayruka nazilun ilayna

Your bounty to us is ever descending

وَشَرُّنَا إِلَيْكَ صَاعِدٌ

wa sharruna ilayka sa`idun

but our mischief to You is (ever) ascending

وَلَمْ يَزَلْ وَلاَ يَزَالُ مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ يَاتِيكَ عَنَّا بِعَمَلٍ قَبِيحٍ

wa lam yazal wa la yazalu malakun karimun ya'tika `anna bi`amalin qabihin

And from before and until now, Your honored angel still brings You the news of our ugly deeds

فَلاَ يَمْنَعُكَ ذٰلِكَ مِنْ انْ تَحُوطَنَا بِنِعَمِكَ

fala yamna`unka dhalika min an tahutana bini`amika

but that does not prevent You from continuing to surround us with Your grace

وتَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بِآلاَئِكَ

wa tatafaddalu `alyna bi'ala'ika

and kindly provide us with Your holy features

فَسُبْحَانَكَ مَا احْلَمَكَ وَاعْظَمَكَ

fasubhanaka ma ahlamaka wa a`zamaka

So, I glorify and praise You for the extent of Your patience

وَاكْرَمَكَ مُبْدِئاً وَمُعِيداً

wa akramaka mubdi'an wa mu`idan

greatness and generosity as a Beginner (of creation) and eventual Claimer of this world

تَقَدَّسَتْ اسْمَاؤُكَ

taqaddasat asma'uka

Holiest are Your names

وَجَلَّ ثَنَاؤُكَ

wa jalla thana'uka

And glorified is Your praise

وَكَرُمَ صَنَائِعُكَ وَفِعَالُكَ

wa karuma sana'i`uka wa fi`aluka

And honored are Your favors and good deeds

انْتَ إِلٰهِي اوْسَعُ فَضْلاً وَاعْظَمُ حِلْماً

anta ilahi awsa`u fadlan wa a`zamu hilman

You, my Lord, are more vast in bounty and greater in patience

مِنْ انْ تُقَايِسَنِي بِفِعْلِي وَخَطِيئَتِي

min an tuqayisani bifi`li wa khati'ati

and clemency than to judge me according to my wrong doing and fault

فَٱلْعَفْوَ ٱلْعَفْوَ ٱلْعَفْوَ

fal`afwa al`afwa al`afwa

So I beg You : Forgiveness, forgiveness, forgiveness

سَيِّدِي سَيِّدِي سَيِّدِي

sayyidi sayyidi sayyidi

O' my Master, O' my Master, O' my Master

اَللَّهُمَّ اشْغَلْنَا بِذِكْرِكَ

allahumma ashghilna bidhikrika

O' Lord! Occupy our time with Your remembrance

وَاعِذْنَا مِنْ سَخَطِكَ

wa a`idhna min sakhatika

And guard us from Your wrath

وَاجِرْنَا مِنْ عَذَابِكَ

wa ajirna min `adhabika

And protect us from Your punishment

وَٱرْزُقْنَا مِنْ مَوَاهِبِكَ

warzuqna min mawahibika

And grant us from Your rewards

وَانْعِمْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

wa an`in `alayna min fadlika

And award us from Your bounties

وَٱرْزُقْنَا حَجَّ بَيْتِكَ

warzuqna hajja baytika

And provides us the means to conduct pilgrimage to Your house (Ka'ba)

وَزِيَارَةَ قَبْرِ نَبِيِّكَ

wa ziyarata qabri nabiyyika

and to visit the tomb of Your Prophet

صَلَوَاتُكَ وَرَحْمَتُكَ

salawatuka wa rahmatuka

may Your peace, mercy,

وَمَغْفِرَتُكَ وَرِضْوَانُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ اهْلِ بَيْتِهِ

wa maghfiratuka wa ridwanuka `alayhi wa `ala ahli baytihi

forgiveness and graciousness be bestowed upon him and his family

إِنَّكَ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبٌ

innaka qaribun mujibun

Indeed, You are close and forthcoming with Your answer (to our prayers)

وَٱرْزُقْنَا عَمَلاً بِطَاعَتِكَ

warzuqna `amalan bita`atika

And assist us in abiding by Your obedience

وَتَوَفَّنَا عَلَىٰ مِلَّتِكَ وَسُنَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ

wa tawaffana `ala millatika wa sunnati nabiyyika

and claim our souls while we are in Your (righteous) congregation and followers of the tradition of Your Prophet

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa `ala alihi

may peace of Allah be upon him and his family

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ

allahumma ighfir li wa liwalidayya

O' Lord! Forgive me and my parents

وَٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيراً

warhamhuma kama rabbayani saghiran

and grant them mercy as they have raised me since I was youthful

إِجْزِهِمَا بِٱلإِحْسَانِ إِحْسَاناً

ijzihima bil-ihsani ihsanan

reward their good deeds with bountifulness

وَبِٱلسَّيِّئَاتِ غُفْرَاناً

wa bilssayyi'ati ghufranan

and (pardon) their sins with forgiveness

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ

allahumma ighfir lilmu'minina walmu'minati

O' Lord! Forgive the believers, be they men or women

ٱلاحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَٱلامْوَاتِ

al-ahya'i minhum wal-amwati

living or dead

وَتَابِعْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمْ بِٱلْخَيْرَاتِ

wa tabi` baynana wa baynahum bilkhayrati

and let us follow on their path with good deeds

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا

allahumma ighfir lihayyina wa mayyitina

O' Lord! Forgive (for) the living or deceased of us

وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا

wa shahidina wa gha'ibina

(believers) the present and the absent

ذَكَرِنَا وَانْثَانَا

dhakarina wa unthana

our male and female

صَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا

saghirina wa kabirina

our young and old

حُرِّنَا وَمَمْلُوكِنَا

hurrina wa mamlukina

our free and our slaves

كَذَبَ ٱلْعَادِلُونَ بِٱللَّهِ

kadhaba al`adiluna billahi

Indeed the antagonists of Allah lied

وَضَلُّوٱ ضَلاَلاً بَعِيداً

wa dallu dalalan ba`idan

and enormously wandered astray

وَخَسِرُوٱ خُسْرَاناً مُبِيناً

wa khasiru khusranan mubinan

and incurred a major loss

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin

O' Lord! Bestow Your peace on Muhammad and his family

وَٱخْتِمْ لِي بِخَيْرٍ

wakhtim li bikhayrin

and conclude my life in virtue

وَٱكْفِنِي مَا اهَمَّنِي مِنْ امْرِ دُنْيَايَ وَآخِرَتِي

wa ikfini ma ahammani min amri dunyaya wa akhirati

and resolve what worries me from the affairs of this life and in the hereafter

وَلاَ تُسَلِّطْ عَلَيَّ مَنْ لاَ يَرْحَمُنِي

wa la tusallit `alayya man la yarhamuni

and do not allow anyone who won't treat me justly to come in contact with me

وَٱجْعَلْ عَلَيَّ مِنْكَ وَاقِيَةً بَاقِيَةً

waj`al `alayya minka waqiyatan baqiyatan

and provide me with Your everlasting protection

وَلاَ تَسْلُبْنِي صَالِحَ مَا انْعَمْتَ بِهِ عَلَيَّ

wa la taslubni saliha ma an`amta bihi `alayya

and do not deprive me of the best of the amenities You have graced me with

وَٱرْزُقْنِي مِنْ فَضْلِكَ رِزْقاً وَاسِعاً حَلاَلاً طَيِّباً

warzuqni min fadlika rizqan wasi`an halalan tayyiban

and confer on me from Your bounties, vast awards that are lawful and good

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱحْرُسْنِي بِحَرَاسَتِكَ

allahumma ihrusni biharasatika

O' Lord! Guard me with Your safeguard

وَٱحْفَظْنِي بِحِفْظِكَ

wa ihfazni bihifzika

And protect me with Your protection

وَٱكْلَانِي بِكَلاَءَتِكَ

wa ikla'ni bikala'atika

And ally me with Your alliance

وَٱرْزُقْنِي حَجَّ بَيْتِكَ ٱلْحَرَامِ

warzuqni hajja baytika alharami

And award me the ability to conduct pilgrimage to Your sacred house (Ka'ba)

فِي عَامِنَا هٰذَا وَفِي كُلِّ عَامٍ

fi `amina hadha wa fi kulli `amin

in this year and in every year

وَزِيَارَةَ قَبْرِ نَبِيِّكَ وَٱلائِمَّةِ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلامُ

wa ziyarata qabri nabiyyika wal-a'immati `alayhim alssalamu

and to visit the tomb of Your prophet and the Imams, peace be upon them

وَلاَ تُخْلِنِي يَا رَبِّ مِنْ تِلْكَ ٱلْمَشَاهِدِ ٱلشَّرِيفَةِ

wa la tukhlini ya rabbi min tilka almashahidi alshsharifati

and do not deprive me, Oh Lord, from visiting these honorable sanctuaries

وَٱلْمَوَاقِفِ ٱلْكَرِيمَةِ

walmawaqifi alkarimati

and noble positions

اَللَّهُمَّ تُبْ عَلَيَّ حَتَّىٰ لاَ اعْصِيَكَ

allahumma tub `alayya hatta la a`siyaka

O' Lord! Accept my repentance so that I may not disobey You

وَالْهِمْنِي ٱلْخَيْرَ وَٱلْعَمَلَ بِهِ

wa alhimni alkhayra wa al`amala bihi

And inspire me with righteousness and its implementation

وَخَشْيَتَكَ بِٱللَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ مَا ابْقَيْتَنِي

wa khashyataka billayli wa alnnahari ma abqaytani

And the observance of Your presence in the night and the day as long as You let me live

يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

ya rabba al`alamina

O' Allah and Cherisher of the worlds

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي كُلَّمَا قُلْتُ قَدْ تَهَيَّاتُ وَتَعَبَّاتُ

allahumma inni kullama qultu qad tahayya'tu wa ta`abba'tu

O' Lord! I, whenever I thought I was prepared and ready

وَقُمْتُ لِلصَّلاَةِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ وَنَاجَيْتُكَ

wa qumtu lilssalati bayna yadayka wa najaytuka

and rose to pray, before Your hands, and confided to You,

الْقَيْتَ عَلَيَّ نُعَاساً إِذَا انَا صَلَّيْتُ

alqayta `alayya nu`asan idha ana sallaytu

You cast sleep on me when I prayed

وَسَلَبْتَنِي مُنَاجَاتَكَ إِذَا انَا نَاجَيْتُ

wa salabtani munajataka idha ana najaytu

and You prevented me from confiding to You when I confided

مَالِي كُلَّمَا قُلْتُ قَدْ صَلُحَتْ سَرِيرَتِي

mali kullama qultu qad saluhat sarirati

Why is it that whenever I felt content about the goodness of my core

وَقَرُبَ مِنْ مَجَالِسِ ٱلتَّوَّابِينَ مَجْلِسِي

wa qaruba min majalisi alttawwabina majlisi

and my companionships have neared that of the repenters

عَرَضَتْ لِي بَلِيَّةٌ ازَالَتْ قَدَمِي وَحَالَتْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خِدْمَتِكَ

`aradat li baliyyatun azalat qadami wa halat bayni wa bayna khidmatika

a sin would occur and cause my feet to stumble, and deprive me from Your service

سَيِّدِي لَعَلَّكَ عَنْ بَابِكَ طَرَدْتَنِي

sayyidi la`allaka `an babika taradtani

O' my Master, Maybe You have expelled me from Your door

وَعَنْ خِدْمَتِكَ نَحَّيْتَنِي

wa `an khidmatika nahhaytani

and retired me from Your service

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ رَايْتَنِي مُسْتَخِفّاً بِحَقِّكَ فَاقْصَيْتَنِي

aw la`allaka ra'aytani mustakhiffan bihaqqika fa'aqsaytani

or maybe You observed my disregard of Your right on me and thus distanced me

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ رَايْتَنِي مُعْرِضاً عَنْكَ فَقَلَيْتَنِي

aw la`allaka ra'aytani mu`ridan `anka faqalaytani

or maybe You saw me headed away from (Your path) and thus You withdrew me

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ وَجَدْتَنِي فِي مَقَامِ ٱلْكَاذِبِينَ فَرَفَضْتَنِي

aw la`allaka wajadtani fi maqami alkadhibina farafadtani

or maybe You found me to be in the position of the liars so You rejected me

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ رَايْتَنِي غَيْرَ شَاكِرٍ لِنَعْمَائِكَ فَحَرَمْتَنِي

aw la`allaka ra'aytani ghayra shakirin lina`ma'ika faharamtani

or maybe You saw that I was not grateful of Your rewards so You deprived me

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ فَقَدْتَنِي مِنْ مَجَالِسِ ٱلْعُلَمَاءِ فَخَذَلْتَنِي

aw la`allaka faqadtani min majalisi al`ulama'i fakhadhaltani

or maybe You observed my absence from the assembly of the scholars and thus put me down

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ رَايْتَنِي فِي ٱلْغَافِلِينَ فَمِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ آيَسْتَنِي

aw la`allaka ra'aytani filghafilina famin rahmatika ayastani

or maybe You found me to be one of the unheeding so You despaired me from Your mercy

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ رَايْتَنِي آلِفَ مَجَالِسِ ٱلْبَطَّالِينَ فَبَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ خَلَّيْتَنِي

aw la`allaka ra'aytani alafu majalisa albattalina fabayni wa baynahum khallaytani

or maybe You found me to be one of the unheeding so You despaired me from Your mercy

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ لَمْ تُحِبَّ انْ تَسْمَعَ دُعَائِي فَبَاعَدْتَنِي

aw la`allaka lam tuhibba an tasma`a du`a'i faba`adtani

or maybe You did not like to listen to my prayers so You distanced me

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ بِجُرْمِي وَجَرِيرَتِي كَافَيْتَنِي

aw la`allaka bijurmi wa jarirati kafaytani

or maybe You equated me with my crime and sin

اوْ لَعَلَّكَ بِقِلَّةِ حَيَائِي مِنْكَ جَازَيْتَنِي

aw la`allaka biqillati haya'i minka jazaytani

or maybe You punished me for my lack of shyness from You

فَإِنْ عَفَوْتَ يَا رَبِّ فَطَالَمَا عَفَوْتَ عَنِ ٱلْمُذْنِبِينَ قَبْلِي

fa'in `afawta ya rabbi fatalama `afawta `an almudhnibina qabli

So if You forgive, O' Lord, You have forgiven the many sinners before me

لاِنَّ كَرَمَكَ ايْ رَبِّ يَجِلُّ عَنْ مُكَافَاةِ ٱلْمُقَصِّرِينَ

li'anna karamaka ay rabbi yajillu `an mukafati almuqassirina

For Your generosity, O' Lord, is higher than punishing the delinquents

وَانَا عَائِذٌ بِفَضْلِكَ هَارِبٌ مِنْكَ إِلَيْكَ

wa ana `a'idhun bifadlika haribun minka ilayka

and I am seeking refuge with Your bountifulness, and I am escaping from You to You

مُتَنَجِّزٌ مَا وَعَدْتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّفْحِ عَمَّنْ احْسَنَ بِكَ ظَنّاً

mutanajjizun ma wa`adta min alssafhi `amman ahsana bika zannan

and anticipating Your promise to pardon those who possessed good convictions about You

إِلٰهِي انْتَ اوْسَعُ فَضْلاً

ilahi anta awsa`u fadlan

O' My Lord! You are more vast in bountifulness

وَاعْظَمُ حِلْماً مِنْ انْ تُقَايِسَنِي بِعَمَلِي

wa a`zamu hilman min an tuqayisani bi`amali

and greater in patience than to judge me according to my deed

اوْ انْ تَسْتَزِلَّنِي بِخَطِيئَتِي

aw an tastazillani bikhati'ati

or to stumble me with my sin

وَمَا انَا يَا سَيِّدِي وَمَا خَطَرِي

wa ma ana ya sayyidi wa ma khatari

And who am I, my Master, and what is my danger?

هَبْنِي بِفَضْلِكَ سَيِّدِي

habni bifadlika sayyidi

award me Your benevolence, O' my Master!

وَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيَّ بِعَفْوِكَ

wa tasaddaq `alayya bi`afwika

And render me Your pardon

وَجَلِّلْنِي بِسِتْرِكَ

wa jallilni bisitrika

and cover me with the protection of my secrets

وَٱعْفُ عَنْ تَوْبِيخِي بِكَرَمِ وَجْهِكَ

wa`fu `an tawbikhi bikarami wajhika

and pardon me from Your chastisement with Your benevolent face

سَيِّدِي انَا ٱلصَّغِيرُ ٱلَّذِي رَبَّيْتَهُ

sayyidi ana alssaghiru alladhi rabbaytahu

O' Master! I am the young one whom You raised

وَانَا ٱلْجَاهِلُ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمْتَهُ

wa ana aljahilu alladhi `allamtahu

And I am the ignorant whom You educated

وَانَا ٱلضَّالُّ ٱلَّذِي هَدَيْتَهُ

wa ana alddallu alladhi hadaytahu

And I am the misled whom You guided

وَانَا ٱلْوَضِيعُ ٱلَّذِي رَفَعْتَهُ

wa ana alwadi`u alladhi rafa`tahu

And I am the humiliated one whom You elevated

وَانَا ٱلْخَائِفُ ٱلَّذِي آمَنْتَهُ

wa ana alkha'ifu alladhi amantahu

And I am the frightened one whom You safeguarded

وَٱلْجَائِعُ ٱلَّذِي اشْبَعْتَهُ

walja'i`u alladhi ashba`tahu

And the hungry one whom You fed

وَٱلْعَطْشَانُ ٱلَّذِي ارْوَيْتَهُ

wal`atshanu alladhi arwaytahu

And the thirsty whose thirst You quenched

وَٱلْعَارِي ٱلَّذِي كَسَوْتَهُ

wal`ari alladhi kasawtahu

And the naked whom You dressed

وَٱلْفَقِيرُ ٱلَّذِي اغْنَيْتَهُ

walfaqiru alladhi aghnaytahu

And the poor whom You made wealthy

وَٱلضَّعِيفُ ٱلَّذِي قَوَّيْتَهُ

waldda`ifu alladhi qawwaytahu

And the weak whom You strengthened

وَٱلذَّلِيلُ ٱلَّذِي اعْزَزْتَهُ

waldhdhalilu alladhi a`zaztahu

And the insignificant whom You honored

وَٱلسَّقِيمُ ٱلَّذِي شَفَيْتَهُ

walssaqimu alladhi shafaytahu

And the sick whom You cured

وَٱلسَّائِلُ ٱلَّذِي اعْطَيْتَهُ

walssa'ilu alladhi a`taytahu

And the beggar whom You provided charity to

وَٱلْمُذْنِبُ ٱلَّذِي سَتَرْتَهُ

walmudhnibu alladhi satartahu

And the sinner whose secret You have protected

وَٱلْخَاطِئُ ٱلَّذِي اقَلْتَهُ

walkhati'u alladhi aqaltahu

And the wrong doer whom You aided

وَانَا ٱلْقَلِيلُ ٱلَّذِي كَثَّرْتَهُ

wa ana alqalilu alladhi kaththartahu

And I am the little (creature) You made more significant

وَٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفُ ٱلَّذِي نَصَرْتَهُ

walmustad`afu alladhi nasartahu

And the oppressed whom You made victorious

وَانَا ٱلطَّرِيدُ ٱلَّذِي آوَيْتَهُ

wa ana alttaridu alladhi awaytahu

And I am the escapee whom You gave refuge to

انَا يَا رَبِّ ٱلَّذِي لَمْ اسْتَحْيِكَ فِي ٱلْخَلاَءِ

ana ya rabbi alladhi lam astahyika fi alkhala'i

I am the one, O' Allah, who did not revere You (when I committed sins) in my seclusions

وَلَمْ ارَاقِبْكَ فِي ٱلْمَلاَءِ

wa lam uraqibka fi almala'i

nor observed Your (commands) in public

انَا صَاحِبُ ٱلدَّوَاهِي ٱلْعُظْمَىٰ

ana sahibu alddawahi al`uzma

I am the committer of the grave transgressions

انَا ٱلَّذِي عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِهِ ٱجْتَرا

ana alladhi `ala sayyidihi ijtara'a

I am the one who challenged his Master

انَا ٱلَّذِي عَصَيْتُ جَبَّارَ ٱلسَّمَاءِ

ana alladhi `asaytu jabbara alssama'a

I am the one who disobeyed the All-great of the heavens

انَا ٱلَّذِي اعْطَيْتُ عَلَىٰ مَعَاصِي ٱلْجَلِيلِ ٱلرِّشَىٰ

ana alladhi a`taytu `ala ma`asi aljalili alrrisha

I am the one who awarded the briberies upon the disobeying of the Magnificent (Allah)

انَا ٱلَّذِي حِينَ بُشِّرْتُ بِهَا خَرَجْتُ إِلَيْهَا اسْعَىٰ

ana alladhi hina bushshirtu biha kharajtu ilayha as`a

I am the one who when I was forewarned about it (sins), I hastily raced to it

انَا ٱلَّذِي امْهَلْتَنِي فَمَا ٱرْعَوَيْتُ

ana alladhi amhaltani fama ir`awaytu

I am the one whom You awaited (His reverence) but I did not comprehend

وَسَتَرْتَ عَلَيَّ فَمَا ٱسْتَحْيَيْتُ

wa satarta `alayya fama istahyaytu

and You veiled my secret (sins) but I did not become demure

وَعَمِلْتُ بِٱلْمَعَاصِي فَتَعَدَّيْتُ

wa `amiltu bilma`asi fata`addaytu

and I committed sins until I belligerently insisted

وَاسْقَطْتَنِي مِنْ عَيْنِكَ فَمَا بَالَيْتُ

wa asqattani min `aynika fama balaytu

and You then disregarded me but I did not care

فَبِحِلْمِكَ امْهَلْتَنِي

fabihilmika amhaltani

but with Your benevolence , You postponed my punishment

وَبِسِتْرِكَ سَتَرْتَنِي حَتَّىٰ كَانَّكَ اغْفَلْتَنِي

wa bisitrika satartani hatta ka'annaka aghfaltani

and with Your veil, You safeguarded my secret (sins) as if You had overlooked me

وَمِنْ عُقُوبَاتِ ٱلْمَعَاصِي جَنَّبْتَنِي حَتَّىٰ كَانَّكَ ٱسْتَحْيَيْتَنِي

wa min `uqubati alma`asi jannabtani hatta ka'annaka istahyaytani

and You shielded me from punishment called upon me by my sins all to the extent that it appeared as if You shied off from me

إِلٰهِي لَمْ اعْصِكَ حِينَ عَصَيْتُكَ وَانَا بِرُبُوبِيَّتِكَ جَاحِدٌ

ilahi lam a`sika hina `asaytuka wa ana birububiyyatika jahidun

O' my Lord! I did not disobey You when I did because I rejected Your divinity

وَلاَ بِامْرِكَ مُسْتَخِفٌّ

wa la bi-amrika mustakhiffun

or because I belittled Your commands

وَلاَ لِعُقُوبَتِكَ مُتَعَرِّضٌ

wa la li`uqubatika muta`arridun

or that I was daringly challenging Your punishment

وَلاَ لِوَعِيدِكَ مُتَهَاوِنٌ

wa la liwa`idika mutahawinun

or that I did not appreciate Your forewarning

لَكِنْ خَطِيئَةٌ عَرَضَتْ وَسَوَّلَتْ لِي نَفْسِي

lakin khati'atun `aradat wa sawwalat li nafsi

Yet the mistake has occurred, and my self misled me

وَغَلَبَنِي هَوَايَ

wa ghalabani hawaya

and my sinful desires won over me

وَاعَانَنِي عَلَيْهَا شِقْوَتِي

wa a`anani `alayha shiqwati

and my misery helped me to it

وَغَرَّنِي سِتْرُكَ ٱلْمُرْخَىٰ عَلَيَّ

wa gharrani sitruka almurkha `alayya

and Your protective veil over my sins lured me

فَقَدْ عَصَيْتُكَ وَخَالَفْتُكَ بِجُهْدِي

faqad `asaytuka wa khalaftuka bijuhdi

For I have disobeyed You and opposed You with my own will

فَٱلآنَ مِنْ عَذَابِكَ مَنْ يَسْتَنْقِذُنِي

fal'ana min `adhabika man yastanqidhuni

Now, who can ever save me from Your chastisement?

وَمِنْ ايْدِي ٱلْخُصَمَاءِ غَداً مَنْ يُخَلِّصُنِي

wa min aydi alkhusama'i ghadan man yukhallisuni

Tomorrow, who can save me from the hands of my rivals?

وَبِحَبْلِ مَنْ اتَّصِلُ إِنْ انْتَ قَطَعْتَ حَبْلَكَ عَنِّي

wa bihabli man attasilu in anta qata`ta hablaka `anni

Whose rope will I catch if You cut off the rope between You and me?

فَوَاسَوْاتَا عَلَىٰ مَا احْصَىٰ كِتَابُكَ مِنْ عَمَلِي

fa wa saw'ata `ala ma ahsa kitabuka min `amaliya alladhi

Shame on me for my evildoings that Your Book has recorded

ٱلَّذِي لَوْلاَ مَا ارْجُو مِنْ كَرَمِكَ وَسَعَةِ رَحْمَتِكَ

lawla ma arju min karamika wa sa`ati rahmatika

Had it not been for Your generosity, the breadth of Your mercy

وَنَهْيِكَ إِيَّايَ عَنِ ٱلَّذِي لْقُنُوطِ لَقَنَطْتُ عِنْدَمَا اتَذَكَّرُهَا

wa nahyika iyyaya `an alqunuti laqanattu `indama atadhakkaruha

as well as Your ordering me not to lose hope (in Your salvation), I would have despaired whenever I remembered it (my sin)

يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ دَعَاهُ دَاعٍ

ya khayra man da`ahu da`in

O' the Best of whom a worshiper has ever prayed

وَافْضَلَ مَنْ رَجَاهُ رَاجٍ

wa afdala man rajahu rajin

and the Foremost of whom anyone has wished!

اَللَّهُمَّ بِذِمَّةِ ٱلإِسْلاَمِ اتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ

allahumma bidhimmati al-islami atawassalu ilayka

O' Lord! In the name of the esteemed Islam I implore You

وَبِحُرْمَةِ ٱلْقُرْآنِ اعْتَمِدُ عَلَيْكَ

wa bihurmati alqur'ani a`tamidu `alayka

I rely upon You in the name of the sanctity of the Qur’an

وَبِحُبِّي ٱلنَّبِيَّ ٱلامِّيَّ

wa bihubbi alnnabiyya al-ummiyya

And with my love for the unschooled Prophet (Muhammad)

ٱلْقُرَشِيَّ ٱلْهَاشِمِيَّ

alqurashiyya alhashimiyya

The Quraishian (the main tribe in Mecca) The Hashimite (The family name of Prophet Muhammad)

ٱلْعَرَبِيَّ ٱلتُّهَامِيَّ

al`arabiyya alttuhamiyya

The Arabian, The Tuhamian (the name of the region where Quraish is located)

ٱلْمَكِّيَّ ٱلْمَدَنِيَّ

almakkiyya almadaniyya

The Meccan, The Medinan (tracing prophet Muhammad's roots to the city of Medina where He migrated to)

ارْجُو ٱلزُّلْفَةَ لَدَيْكَ

arju alzzulfata ladayka

I seek to be closer to You (I seek favor to You)

فَلاَ تُوحِشِ ٱسْتِينَاسَ إِيـمَانِي

fala tuhish isti'nasa imani

So please do not disrupt the serenity of my faith

وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ ثَوَابِي ثَوَابَ مَنْ عَبَدَ سِوَاكَ

wa la taj`al thawabi thawaba man `abada siwaka

And please do not cause my ultimate destiny to be similar to that of those who worshipped other than You

فَإِنَّ قَوْماً آمَنُوٱ بِالْسِنَتِهِمْ لِيَحْقِنُوٱ بِهِ دِمَاءَهُمْ

fa'inna qawman amanu bi'alsinatihim liyahqinu bihi dima'ahum

For, indeed there are some who believed only to the extent of their tongues so that they may save their lives

فَادْرَكُوٱ مَا امَّلُوٱ

fa'adraku ma ammalu

and they gathered what they wished

وَإِنَّا آمَنَّا بِكَ بِالْسِنَتِنَا وَقُلُوبِنَا لِتَعْفُوَ عَنَّا

wa'inna amanna bika bi'alsinatina wa qulubina lita`fuwa `anna

But we have believed in You with our tongues and with our hearts so that You may pardon us

فَادْرِكْنَا مَا امَّلْنَا

fa'adrikna ma ammalna

So grant us what we wish for

وَثَبِّتْ رَجَاءَكَ فِي صُدُورِنَا

wa thabbit raja'aka fi sudurina

And anchor our hope in You, in our hearts

وَلاَ تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا

wa la tuzigh qulubana ba`da idh hadaytana

And do not let our hearts go astray after You have guided us

وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً

wa hab lana min ladunka rahmatan

And grant us Your mercy

إِنَّكَ انْتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ

innaka anta alwahhabu

Indeed You are the Utmost Granter

فَوَعِزَّتِكَ لَوِ ٱنْتَهَرْتَنِي مَا بَرِحْتُ مِنْ بَابِكَ

fawa`izzatika law intahartani ma barihtu min babika

And I swear with Your glory, that even if You send me away that I would not depart from Your door

وَلاَ كَفَفْتُ عَنْ تَمَلُّقِكَ

wa la kafaftu `an tamalluqika

and I would not cease to compliment You

لِمَا الْهِمَ قَلْبِي مِنَ ٱلْمَعْرِفَةِ بِكَرَمِكَ وَسَعَةِ رَحْمَتِكَ

lima ulhima qalbi min alma`rifati bikaramika wa sa`ati rahmatika

for my heart has been fully inspired with the knowledge of Your benevolence and vastness of compassion

إِلَىٰ مَنْ يَذْهَبُ ٱلْعَبْدُ إِلاَّ إِلَىٰ مَوْلاهُ

ila man yadhhabu al`abdul illa ila mawlahu

To where would a slave go but to his master

وَإِلَىٰ مَنْ يَلْتَجِئُ ٱلْمَخْلُوقُ إِلاَّ إِلَىٰ خَالِقِهِ

wa ila man yaltaji'u almakhluqu illa ila khaliqihi

To where would a creature seek refuge but to with Creator

إِلٰهِي لَوْ قَرَنْتَنِي بِٱلاصْفَادِ

ilahi law qarantani bil-asfadi

O' my Lord! Even if You tied me with the chains of hell

وَمَنَعْتَنِي سَيْبَكَ مِنْ بَيْنِ ٱلاشْهَادِ

wa mana`tani saybaka min bayni al-ashhadi

And You deprived me Your flowing stream (of favors) from between the witnesses (of the day of Judgment)

وَدَلَلْتَ عَلَىٰ فَضَائِحِي عُيُونَ ٱلْعِبَادِ

wa dalalta `ala fada'ihi `uyuna al`ibadi

And divulge all my scandalous acts before the eyes of all Your servants

وَامَرْتَ بِي إِلَىٰ ٱلنَّارِ

wa amarta bi ila alnnari

And You ordered me to hell

وَحُلْتَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ ٱلابْرَارِ

wa hulta bayni wa bayna al-abrari

And You isolated me from the company of the faithful

مَا قَطَعْتُ رَجَائِي مِنْكَ

ma qata`tu raja'i minka

I would not end my hope in You

وَمَا صَرَفْتُ تَامِيلِي لِلْعَفْوِ عَنْكَ

wa ma saraftu ta'mili lil`afwi `anka

and I would not dismiss my reassurance of Your pardon

وَلاَ خَرَجَ حُبُّكَ مِنْ قَلْبِي

wa la kharaja hubbuka min qalbi

and my love for You would not depart from my heart

انَا لاَ انْسَىٰ ايَادِيَكَ عِنْدِي

ana la ansa ayadiyaka `indi

I do not forget the helping hand You bestowed upon me

وَسِتْرَكَ عَلَيَّ فِي دَارِ ٱلدُّنْيَا

wa sitraka `alayya fi dari alddunya

and Your having concealed my defects in the worldly abode

سَيِّدِي اخْرِجْ حُبَّ ٱلدُّنْيَا مِنْ قَلْبِي

sayyidi akhrij hubba alddunya min qalbi

O' my Master! Remove the adoration of worldliness from my heart

وَٱجْمَعْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ ٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ وَآلِهِ

wa ijma` bayni wa bayna almustafa wa alihi

And unite me with Mustafa (Muhammad: the chosen messenger) and his family

خِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ وَخَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

khiyaratika min khalqika wa khatami alnnabiyyina

the dearest of Your creatures and the last of the prophets,

مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ

muhammadin salla allahu `alyhi wa alihi

Muhammad, Peace from Allah upon him and his family

وَٱنْقُلْنِي إِلَىٰ دَرَجَةِ ٱلتَّوْبَةِ إِلَيْكَ

wanqulni ila darajati alttawbati ilayka

And move me to the rank of repentance with You

وَاعِنِّي بِٱلْبُكَاءِ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي فَقَدْ افْنَيْتُ عُمْرِي

wa a`inni bilbuka'i `ala nafsi faqad afnaytu `umuri

And help me to cry for myself for I have wasted my life away with procrastination and false hopes

وَقَدْ نَزَلْتُ مَنْزِلَةَ ٱلآيِسِينَ مِنْ خَيْرِي

wa qad nazaltu manzilata al-ayisina min khayri

And now I have come to You hopeless of my goodness

فَمَنْ يَكُونُ اسْوَا حَالاً مِنِّي

faman yakunu aswa'a halan minni

Who is more worse off than me

إِنْ انَا نُقِلْتُ عَلَىٰ مِثْلِ حَالِي

in ana nuqiltu `ala mithli hali

if now I am passed on in my present state

إِلَىٰ قَبْرٍ لَمْ امَهِّدْهُ لِرَقْدَتِي

ila qabrin lam umahhid-hu liraqdati

to a grave that I have neither paved for my long stay

وَلَمْ افْرُشْهُ بِٱلْعَمَلِ ٱلصَّالِحِ لِضَجْعَتِي

wa lam afrishhu bil`amali alssalihi lidaj`ati

nor furnished with righteous deed for my extended abode.

وَمَا لِي لاَ ابْكِي

wa mali la abki

And why would I not weep

وَلاَ ادْرِي إِلَىٰ مَا يَكُونُ مَصِيرِي

wa la adri ila ma yakunu masiri

for I have no knowledge of my fate

وَارَىٰ نَفْسِي تُخَادِعُنِي

wa ara nafsi tukhadi`uni

and I observe my self deceiving itself

وَايَّامِي تُخَاتِلُنِي

wa ayyami tukhatiluni

and my days are fading away

وَقَدْ خَفَقَتْ عِنْدَ رَاسِي اجْنِحَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ

wa qad khafaqat `inda ra'si ajnihatu almawti

and the wings of death have flapped close by

فَمَا لِي لاَ ابْكِي

famali la abki

So why wouldn't I cry!

ابْكِي لِخُرُوجِ نَفْسِي

abki likhuruji nafsi

I weep for my soul’s departing my body

ابْكِي لِظُلْمَةِ قَبْرِي

abki lizulmati qabri

I weep for the darkness of my grave

ابْكِي لِضِيقِ لَحْدِي

abki lidiqi lahdi

I weep for the narrowness of my vault

ابْكِي لِسُؤَالِ مُنْكَرٍ وَنَكِيرٍ إِيَّايَ

abki lisu'ali munkarin wa nakirin iyyaya

I weep for the questioning of Munkar and Nakeer of me (the names of the two angels that question the dead after being laid in the graves)

ابْكِي لِخُرُوجِي مِنْ قَبْرِي عُرْيَاناً ذَلِيلاً

abki likhuruji min qabri `uryanan dhalilan

I weep for my coming out of my grave (on the Resurrection Day) naked, humiliated

حَامِلاً ثِقْلِي عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِي

hamilan thiqli `ala zahri

and carrying my book (of deeds) on my back

انْظُرُ مَرَّةً عَنْ يَمِينِي وَاخْرَىٰ عَنْ شِمَالِي

anzuru marratan `an yamini wa ukhra `an shimali

I look to the right once and to the left once

إِذِ ٱلْخَلائِقُ فِي شَانٍ غَيْرِ شَانِي

idh alkhala'iqu fi sha'nin ghayri sha'ni

Behold! The creatures will each be engaged with matters other than mine

”لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَانٌ يُغْنِيهِ“

likulli imri'in minhum yawma'idhin sha'nun yughnihi

for every person that day has a concern of his own

”وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُسْفِرَةٌ ضَاحِكَةٌ مُسْتَبْشِرَةٌ

wujuhun yawma'idhin musfiratun dahikatun mustabshiratun

Many faces on that day shall be bright, laughing, joyous.

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ“ وَذِلَّةٌ

wa wujuhun yawma'idhin `alayha ghabaratun tarhaquha qataratun wa dhillatun

And many faces on that day, on them shall be dust. Darkness, and humiliation shall cover them

سَيِّدِي عَلَيْكَ مُعَوَّلِي وَمُعْتَمَدِي

sayyidi `alayka mu`awwali wa mu`tamadi

O' Master! I settle my destination, dependence

وَرَجَائِي وَتَوَكُّلِي

wa raja'i wa tawakkuli

hope and reliance upon You

وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ تَعَلُّقِي

wa birahmatika ta`alluqi

And with Your mercy, I cling

تُصِيبُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ مَنْ تَشَاءُ

tusibu birahmatika man tasha'u

You bestow Your mercy on whomever You please

وَتَهْدِي بِكَرَامَتِكَ مَنْ تُحِبُّ

wa tahdi bikaramatika man tuhibbu

and You guide with Your benevolence whomever You like

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقَّيْتَ مِنَ ٱلشِّرْكِ قَلْبِي

falaka alhamdu `ala ma naqqayta min alshshirki qalbi

So praise to You for Your purifying my heart from taking false partners to You

وَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ عَلَىٰ بَسْطِ لِسَانِي

wa laka alhamdu `ala basti lisani

And praise to You for releasing my tongue

افَبِلِسَانِي هٰذَا ٱلْكَالِّ اشْكُرُكَ

afabilisani hadha alkalli ashkuruka

How can I praise You properly while my tongue is too short to do so?

امْ بِغَايَةِ جُهْدِي فِي عَمَلِي ارْضِيكَ

am bighayati juhdi fi `amali urdika

How can I please You while the extent of my efforts is too short to do so?

وَمَا قَدْرُ لِسَانِي يَا رَبِّ فِي جَنْبِ شُكْرِكَ

wa ma qadru lisani ya rabbi fi janbi shukrika

What extent can my tongue reach if compared to the limitless extent of thanking You?

وَمَا قَدْرُ عَمَلِي فِي جَنْبِ نِعَمِكَ وَإِحْسَانِكَ

wa ma qadru `amali fi janbi ni`amika wa ihsanika

What amount can my efforts reach if compared to the limitless amount of Your graces and favors?

إِلٰهِي إِنَّ جُودَكَ بَسَطَ امَلِي

ilahi inna judaka basata amali

O' my Lord! Indeed Your generosity has expanded my hope (in You)

وَشُكْرَكَ قَبِلَ عَمَلِي

wa shukraka qabila `amali

It is my thanks to You that have granted approval for my deeds

سَيِّدِي إِلَيْكَ رَغْبَتِي

sayyidi ilayka raghbati

O my Master, for You do I desire

وَإِلَيْكَ رَهْبَتِي

wa ilayka rahbati

You do I fear

وَإِلَيْكَ تَامِيلِي

wa ilayka ta'mili

and to You do I look forward

وَقَدْ سَاقَنِي إِلَيْكَ امَلِي

wa qad saqani ilayka amali

It is my hope that has driven me towards You

وَعَلَيْكَ يَا وَاحِدِي عَكَفَتْ هِمَّتِي

wa `alayka ya wahidi `akaftu himmati

To You, O my One and Only God, do I direct my determination

وَفِيمَا عِنْدَكَ ٱنْبَسَطَتْ رَغْبَتِي

wa fima `indaka inbasatat raghbati

And upon what You possess I unfold my desire

وَلَكَ خَالِصُ رَجَائِي وَخَوْفِي

wa laka khalisu raja'i wa khawfi

And my ultimate hope and fear rest upon You

وَبِكَ انِسَتْ مَحَبَّتِي

wa bika anisat mahabbati

And with You, I cheerfully contemplated Your adoration

وَإِلَيْكَ الْقَيْتُ بِيَدِي

wa ilayka alqaytu biyadi

And I spread my hands wide open to You

وَبِحَبْلِ طَاعَتِكَ مَدَدْتُ رَهْبَتِي

wa bihabli ta`atika madadtu rahbati

And with the rope of Your obedience I ease my fear

يَا مَوْلايَ بِذِكْرِكَ عَاشَ قَلْبِي

ya mawlaya bidhikrika `asha qalbi

O' my Lord! In Your remembrance, my heart flourished

وَبِمُنَاجَاتِكَ بَرَّدْتُ الَمَ ٱلْخَوْفِ عَنِّي

wa bimunajatika barradtu alama alkhawfi `anni

Only through my confidential conversations with You have I cooled the pains of my fear

فَيَا مَوْلايَ وَيَا مُؤَمَّلِي وَيَا مُنْتَهَىٰ سُؤْلِي

faya mawlaya wa ya mu'ammali wa ya muntaha su'li

So, O' my Lord! And O' the One whom I hope! And O' the One who is the Ultimate Destination and Grantor of my request!

فَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ ذَنْبِيَ ٱلْمَانِعِ لِي مِنْ لُزُومِ طَاعَتِكَ

farriq bayni wa bayna dhanbiya almani`i li min luzumi ta`atika

Separate between me and this sin of mine that disables me from abiding by Your obedience

فَإِنَّمَا اسْالُكَ لِقَدِيمِ ٱلرَّجَاءِ فِيكَ

fa'innama as'aluka liqadimi alrraja'i fika

For I only ask You due to the ancient and long resting of hope upon You

وَعَظِيمِ ٱلطَّمَعِ مِنْكَ

wa `azimi alttama`i minka

as well as the great coveting of You

ٱلَّذِي اوْجَبْتَهُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِكَ مِنَ ٱلرَّافَةِ وَٱلرَّحْمَةِ

alladhi awjabtahu `ala nafsika min alrra'fati walrrahmati

in what You obliged yourself with from compassion and mercy

فَٱلامْرُ لَكَ وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ

fal-amru laka wahdaka la sharika laka

Evidently, the command is yours, for You are the only One without partners

وَٱلْخَلْقُ كُلُّهُمْ عِيَالُكَ وَفِي قَبْضَتِكَ

walkhalqu kulluhum `iyaluka wa fi qabdatika

and all creatures are in Your maintenance and within Your grip

وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ خَاضِعٌ لَكَ

wa kullu shay'in khadi`un laka

and everything submits to You

تَبَارَكْتَ يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

tabarakta ya rabba al`alamina

blessed You are O' Lord and Cherisher of the worlds

إِلٰهِي ٱرْحَمْنِي إِذَا ٱنْقَطَعَتْ حُجَّتِي

ilahi irhamni idha inqata`at hujjati

O' my Lord! Bestow Your mercy upon me when my excuses have failed

وَكَلَّ عَنْ جَوَابِكَ لِسَانِي

wa kalla `an jawabika lisani

and when my tongue has ceased to be able to answer to You (on judgment day)

وَطَاشَ عِنْدَ سُؤَالِكَ إِيَّايَ لُبِّي

wa tasha `inda su'alika iyyaya lubbi

and my intellect has subsided upon Your questioning

فَيَا عَظِيمَ رَجَائِي لاَ تُخَيِّبْنِي إِذَا ٱشْتَدَّتْ فَاقَتِي

faya `azima raja'i la tukhayyibni idha ishtaddat faqati

So O' to whom I submit my utmost hope, do not disappoint me when my tragedy has intensified

وَلاَ تَرُدَّنِي لِجَهْلِي

wa la taruddani lijahli

and do not reject me due to my ignorance and conceit

وَلاَ تَمْنَعْنِي لِقِلَّةِ صَبْرِي

wa la tamna`ni liqillati sabri

and do not deprive me (of Your mercy) due to my lack of patience

اعْطِنِي لِفَقْرِي

a`tini lifaqri

and provide for me for I am poor

وَٱرْحَمْنِي لِضَعْفِي

warhamni lida`fi

and bestow Your mercy upon me for I am weak

سَيِّدِي عَلَيْكَ مُعْتَمَدِي وَمُعَوَّلِي

sayyidi `alayka mu`tamadi wa mu`awwali

O' my Master! Upon You I rest my dependence, destination

وَرَجَائِي وَتَوَكُّلِي

wa raja'i wa tawakkuli

hope and reliance

وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ تَعَلُّقِي

wa birahmatika ta`alluqi

And to Your mercy I cling

وَبِفِنَائِكَ احُطُّ رَحْلِي

wa bifina'ika ahuttu rahli

And on Your grounds, I conclude my journey

وَبِجُودِكَ اقْصِدُ طَلِبَتِي

wa bijudika aqsidu talibati

And to Your generosity I direct my request

وَبِكَرَمِكَ ايْ رَبِّ اسْتَفْتِحُ دُعَائِي

wa bikaramika ay rabbi astaftihu du`a'i

And with Your generosity, O' Allah, I commence my prayer

وَلَدَيْكَ ارْجُو فَاقَتِي

wa ladayka arju faqati

And with You I seek relief from my indigence

وَبِغِنَاكَ اجْبُرُ عَيْلَتِي

wa bighinaka ajburu `aylati

And with Your wealth I mend my poverty

وَتَحْتَ ظِلِّ عَفْوِكَ قِيَامِي

wa tahta zilli `afwika qiyami

And under the shadow of Your pardon, I stand

وَإِلَىٰ جُودِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ ارْفَعُ بَصَرِي

wa ila judika wa karamika arfa`u basari

And to Your generosity and benevolence, I raise my eyesight

وَإِلَىٰ مَعْرُوفِكَ ادِيمُ نَظَرِي

wa ila ma`rufika udimu nazari

And to Your favor, I prolong my vision

فَلاَ تُحْرِقْنِي بِٱلنَّارِ وَانْتَ مَوْضِعُ امَلِي

fala tuhriqni bilnnari wa anta mawdi`u amali

So, burn me not in the hell fire because You are where I place my hope

وَلاَ تُسْكِنِّي ٱلْهَاوِيَةَ فَإِنَّكَ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي

wa la tuskinni alhawiyata fa'innaka qurratu `ayni

And, reside me not in the bottomless pit (hell) for You are indeed the comfort of my eye

يَا سَيِّدِي لاَ تُكَذِّبْ ظَنِّي بِإِحْسَانِكَ وَمَعْرُوفِكَ

ya sayyidi la tukadhdhib zanni bi'ihsanika wa ma`rufika

O' my Master! Disappoint not my expectation in Your benevolence and known favor

فَإِنَّكَ ثِقَتِي

fa'innaka thiqati

because You are my Confidant and Security

وَلاَ تَحْرِمْنِي ثَوَابَكَ

wa la tahrimni thawabaka

And do not deprive me of Your reward

فَإِنَّكَ ٱلْعَارِفُ بِفَقْرِي

fa'innaka al`arifu bifaqri

for You are Aware of my poverty

إِلٰهِي إِنْ كَانَ قَدْ دَنَا اجَلِي وَلَمْ يُقَرِّبْنِي مِنْكَ عَمَلِي

ilahi in kana qad dana ajali wa lam yuqarribni minka `amali

O' my Lord! If the end of my life has neared and my deeds did not bring me near You

فَقَدْ جَعَلْتُ ٱلإِعْتِرَافَ إِلَيْكَ بِذَنْبِي وَسَائِلَ عِلَلِي

faqad ja`altu ali`tirafa ilayka bidhanbi wasa'ila `ilali

then I hereby render my admission of sin as my justification

إِلٰهِي إِنْ عَفَوْتَ فَمَنْ اوْلَىٰ مِنْكَ بِٱلْعَفْوِ

ilahi in `afawta faman awla minka bil`afwi

,. O' my Lord! If You pardon (me), then no one is more worthy of pardoning than You

وَإِنْ عَذَّبْتَ فَمَنْ اعْدَلُ مِنْكَ فِي ٱلْحُكْمِ

wa in `adhdhabta faman a`dalu minka fi allhukmi

And if You punish (me), then no one is more just than You in judgment

ٱرْحَمْ فِي هٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا غُرْبَتِي

irham fi hadhihi alddunya ghurbati

(O' Lord) have mercy toward my expatriation in this life

وَعِنْدَ ٱلْمَوْتِ كُرْبَتِي

wa `inda almawti kurbati

and my tragedy upon death

وَفِي ٱلْقَبْرِ وَحْدَتِي

wa fi alqabri wahdati

and my solitude in the grave

وَفِي ٱللَّحْدِ وَحْشَتِي

wa fi allahdi wahshati

and my loneliness in the grave

وَإِذَا نُشِرْتُ لِلْحِسَابِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ ذُلَّ مَوْقِفِي

wa idha nushirtu lilhisabi bayna yadayka dhulla mawqifi

and because whenever I am dispatched for judgment before Your hands, my situation is humiliated

وَٱغْفِرْ لِي مَا خَفِيَ عَلَىٰ ٱلآدَمِيِّينَ مِنْ عَمَلِي

waghfir li ma khafiya `ala al-adamiyyina min `amali

and forgive what is concealed from the humans of my (secretive bad) deeds

وَادِمْ لِي مَا بِهِ سَتَرْتَنِي

wa adim li ma bihi satartani

and prolong for me what You veiled my (secret sins) with

وَٱرْحَمْنِي صَرِيعاً عَلَىٰ ٱلْفِرَاشِ تُقَلِّبُنِي ايْدِي احِبَّتِي

warhamni sari`an `ala alfirashi tuqallibuni aydi ahibbati

and confer Your benevolence on me when I am (laying) motionless on the (death) bed so that the beloved of my relatives surround me

وَتَفَضَّلْ عَلَيَّ مَمْدُوداً عَلَىٰ ٱلْمُغْتَسَلِ يُقَلِّبُنِي صَالِحُ جِيرَتِي

wa tafaddal `alayya mamdudan `ala almughtasali yuqallibuni salihu jirati

and grant me Your bountifulness when I am stretched on the funeral bath so that the good-deeded of my community may wash me

وَتَحَنَّنْ عَلَيَّ مَحْمُولاً قَدْ تَنَاوَلَ ٱلاقْرِبَاءُ اطْرَافَ جِنَازَتِي

wa tahannan `alayya mahmulan qad tanawala al-aqriba'u atrafa janazati

and bestow Your kindred tenderness upon me when I am carried while my relatives hand over the extremities of my coffin

وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ مَنْقُولاً قَدْ نَزَلْتُ بِكَ وَحِيداً فِي حُفْرَتِي

wa jud `alayya manqulan qad nazaltu bika wahidan fi hufrati

and award me Your generosity when I am transported and finally delivered and left alone in my grave

وَٱرْحَمْ فِي ذٰلِكَ ٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْجَدِيدِ غُرْبَتِي حَتَّىٰ لاَ اسْتَانِسَ بِغَيْرِكَ

warham fi dhalika albayti aljadidi ghurbati hatta la asta'nisa bighayrika

and have mercy on my solitary confinement in this new residence so that I may not be comforted by anyone but You

يَا سَيِّدِي إِنْ وَكَلْتَنِي إِلَىٰ نَفْسِي هَلَكْتُ

ya sayyidi in wakaltani ila nafsi halaktu

O' my Master! If You entrusted me (with my affairs), I would perish

سَيِّدِي فَبِمَنْ اسْتَغِيثُ إِنْ لَمْ تُقِلْنِي عَثْرَتِي

sayyidi fabiman astaghithu in lam tuqilni `athrati

My Master then whom do I seek rescue with if You would not avert my stumble

فَإِلَىٰ مَنْ افْزَعُ إِنْ فَقَدْتُ عِنَايَتَكَ فِي ضَجْعَتِي

fa'ila man afza`u in faqadtu `inayataka fi daj`ati

To whom would I seek shelter with if I lost Your kindred care in my dormancy

وَإِلَىٰ مَنْ الْتَجِئُ إِنْ لَمْ تُنَفِّسْ كُرْبَتِي

wa'ila man altaji'u in lam tunaffis kurbati

To whom would I resort to if You did not relieve my destitution

سَيِّدِي مَنْ لِي

sayyidi man li

My Master! Who will be on my side

وَمَنْ يَرْحَمُنِي إِنْ لَمْ تَرْحَمْنِي

wa man yarhamuni in lam tarhamni

and who will bestow mercy on me if You do not?

وَفَضْلَ مَنْ اؤَمِّلُ إِنْ عَدِمْتُ فَضْلَكَ يَوْمَ فَاقَتِي

wa fadla man u'ammilu in `adimtu fadlaka yawma faqati

And whose bounties would I anticipate if I lacked Your grants on the day of my destitution (judgment day)?

وَإِلَىٰ مَنِ ٱلْفِرَارُ مِنَ ٱلذُّنُوبِ إِذَا ٱنْقَضَىٰ اجَلِي

wa'ila man alfararu min aldhdhunubi idha inqada ajali

And to where shall I run away from my sins when my fate is concluded?

سَيِّدِي لاَ تُعَذِّبْنِي وَانَا ارْجُوكَ

sayyidi la tu`adhdhibni wa ana arjuka

My Master! Punish me not while I am pleading to You!

إِلٰهِي حَقِّقْ رَجَائِي

ilahi haqqiq raja'i

O' my Lord! Fulfill my desire

وَآمِنْ خَوْفِي

wa amin khawfi

and secure my fright

فَإِنَّ كَثْرَةَ ذُنُوبِي لاَ ارْجُو فِيهَا إِلاَّ عَفْوَكَ

fa'inna kathrata dhunubi la arju fiha illa `afwaka

because I can not avert (the result of) my numerous sins except with Your pardon

سَيِّدِي انَا اسْالُكَ مَا لاَ اسْتَحِقُّ

sayyidi ana as'aluka ma la astahiqqu

My Master! I am asking You for what I do not deserve

وَانْتَ اهْلُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَاهْلُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ

wa anta ahlu alttaqwa wa ahlu almaghfirati

but You are the Lord of righteousness and the Lord of forgiveness

فَٱغْفِرْ لِي وَالْبِسْنِي مِنْ نَظَرِكَ ثَوْباً يُغَطِّي عَلَيَّ ٱلتَّبِعَاتِ

faghfir li wa albisni min nazarika thawban yughatti `alayya alttabi`ati

So, forgive for me and veil me from Your sight with a cloak that masks all my liabilities

وَتَغْفِرُهَا لِي وَلاَ اطَالَبُ بِهَا

wa taghfiruha li wa la utalabu biha

thus forgiving me so that I may never be reclaimed with it

إِنَّكَ ذُو مَنٍّ قَدِيمٍ

innaka dhu mannin qadimin

Indeed, You are the possessor of ancient favor

وَصَفْحٍ عَظِيمٍ

wa safhin `azimin

great pardon

وَتَجَاوُزٍ كَرِيمٍ

wa tajawuzin karimin

and generous forgiveness

إِلٰهِي انْتَ ٱلَّذِي تُفِيضُ سَيْبَكَ عَلَىٰ مَنْ لاَ يَسْالُكَ

ilahi anta alladhi tufidu saybaka `ala man la yas'aluka

O' my Lord! You are the One who overflows the streams (of favors) on those who do not even implore You

وَعَلَىٰ ٱلْجَاحِدِينَ بِرُبُوْبِيَّتِكَ

wa `ala aljahidina birububiyyatika

and on those who rejected Your divinity

فَكَيْفَ سَيِّدِي بِمَنْ سَالَكَ وَايْقَنَ انَّ ٱلْخَلْقَ لَكَ وَٱلامْرَ إِلَيْكَ

fakayfa sayyidi biman sa'alaka wa ayqana anna alkhalqa laka wal-amra ilayka

So how would You not, O' Master, grant the same to the one who implored You and submitted with certainty that the creation is yours and the command is to You?

تَبَارَكْتَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

tabarakta wa ta`alayta ya rabba al`alamina

Praised and glorified You are, O' Lord and Cherisher of the worlds

سَيِّدِي عَبْدُكَ بِبَابِكَ اقَامَتْهُ ٱلْخَصَاصَةُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

sayyidi `abduka bibabika aqamat-hu alkhasasatu bayna yadayka

O' my Master! Your slave is at Your doorstep. His desperate need has rooted him before Your hands

يَقْرَعُ بَابَ إِحْسَانِكَ بِدُعَائِهِ

yaqra`u baba ihsanika bidu`a'ihi

He knocks on the gate of Your generosity with his prayer

فَلاَ تُعْرِضْ بِوَجْهِكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ عَنِّي

fala tu`rid biwajhika alkarimi `anni

and he solicits Your gracious consideration (in relieving his dilemma) through his hearty anticipation (in You)

وَٱقْبَلْ مِنِّي مَا اقُولُ فَقَدْ دَعَوْتُ بِهٰذَا ٱلدُّعَاءِ

waqbal minni ma aqulu faqad da`awtu bihadha alddu`a'i

So please do not turn Your honorable face away from me and accept from me what I plead for

وَانَا ارْجُو انْ لاَ تَرُدَّنِي مَعْرِفَةً مِنِّي بِرَافَتِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ

wa ana arju an la taruddani ma`rifatan minni bira'fatika wa rahmatika

For I have pleaded with this prayer and I am hopeful that You would not turn me down, since I have always known of Your benevolence and mercy

إِلٰهِي انْتَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يُحْفِيكَ سَائِلٌ

ilahi anta alladhi la yuhfika sa'ilun

O' my Lord! You are the one who is never burdened by the pleas of the beseecher

وَلاَ يَنْقُصُكَ نَائِلٌ

wa la yanqusuka na'ilun

nor are You ever encumbered in rewarding (Your) grantee

انْتَ كَمَا تَقُولُ وَفَوْقَ مَا نَقُولُ

anta kama taqulu wa fawqa ma naqulu

Verily, You are how You describe Yourself and above what we describe

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْالُكَ صَبْراً جَمِيلاً

allahumma inni as'aluka sabran jamilan

O' my Lord! I ask You (to grant me) a rewarding patience

وَفَرَجاً قَرِيباً

wa farajan qariban

a neighboring relief

وَقَوْلاً صَادِقاً

wa qawlan sadiqan

a true affirmation

وَاجْراً عَظِيماً

wa ajran `aziman

and a great reward

اسْالُكَ يَا رَبِّ مِنَ ٱلْخَيْرِ كُلِّهِ

as'aluka ya rabbi min alkhayri kullihi

I ask You, O' my Lord, for all the good

مَا عَلِمْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَا لَمْ اعْلَمْ

ma `alimtu minhu wa ma lam a`lam

whether I know of it or not

اسْالُكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا سَالَكَ مِنْهُ عِبَادُكَ ٱلصَّالِحُونَ

as'aluka allahumma min khayri ma sa'alaka minhu `ibaduka alssalihuna

I ask You, O' my Lord, for the best of what have asked You Your righteous believers

يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ سُئِلَ

ya khayra man su'ila

O' the Foremost of whom was ever asked!

وَاجْوَدَ مَنْ اعْطَىٰ

wa ajwada man a`ta

and the Most Generous that has ever given

اعْطِنِي سُؤْلِي فِي نَفْسِي وَاهْلِي

a`tini su'li fi nafsi wa ahli

Fulfill my quest in myself, my family

وَوَالِدَيَّ وَوُلْدِي

wa walidayya wa wuldi

parents, children

وَاهْلِ حُزَانَتِي وَإِخْوَانِي فِيكَ

wa ahli huzanati wa ikhwani fika

proximate community, and my brothers (and sisters) in You

وَارْغِدْ عَيْشِي

wa arghid `ayshi

And enrich my living

وَاظْهِرْ مُرُوَّتِي

wa azhir muruwwati

and ascend my bravery

وَاصْلِحْ جَمِيعَ احْوَالِي

wa aslih jami`a ahwali

and improve all of my affairs

وَٱجْعَلْنِي مِمَّنْ اطَلْتَ عُمْرَهُ

waj`alni mimman atalta `umrahu

And cause me to be a (person) whom You have destined to have prolonged his life

وَحَسَّنْتَ عَمَلَهُ

wa hassanta `amalahu

and improved his deeds

وَاتْمَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ نِعْمَتَكَ وَرَضِيتَ عَنْهُ

wa atmamta `alayhi ni`mataka wa radita `anhu

and consummated Your gifts upon him and accepted his performance

وَاحْيَيْتَهُ حَيَاةً طَيِّبَةً فِي ادْوَمِ ٱلسُّرُورِ

wa ahyaytahu hayatan tayyibatan fi adwami alssururi

and made live a good life in permanent joy

وَاسْبَغِ ٱلْكَرَامَةِ وَاتَمِّ ٱلْعَيْشِ

wa asbaghi alkaramati wa atammi al`ayshi

utmost integrity, and complete living

إِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُ مَا تَشَاءُ

innaka taf`alu ma tasha'u

Indeed, You do as You please

وَلاَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاءُ غَيْرُكَ

wa la yaf`alu ma yasha'u ghayruka

and not as others please.

اَللَّهُمَّ خُصَّنِي مِنْكَ بِخَاصَّةِ ذِكْرِكَ

allahumma khussani minka bikhassati dhikrika

O' Lord! Distinguish me with Your distinctive remembrance

وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ شَيْئاً مِمَّا اتَقَرَّبُ بِهِ

wa la taj`al shay'an mimma ataqarrabu bihi

And do not allow any of what I seek closeness to You with (of good deeds)

فِي آنَاءِ ٱللَّيْلِ وَاطْرَافِ ٱلنَّهَارِ

fi ana'i allayli wa atrafi alnnahari

in the midst of nights or the extremes of days

رِيَاءً وَلاَ سُمْعَةً

riya'an wa la sum`atan

to be an object of pretension, seeking of reputation

وَلاَ اشَراً وَلاَ بَطَراً

wa la asharan wa la bataran

arrogance, or extravagance

وَٱجْعَلْنِي لَكَ مِنَ ٱلْخَاشِعِينَ

waj`alni laka min alkhashi`ina

And cause me to be of those who humble themselves to You

اَللَّهُمَّ اعْطِنِي ٱلسَّعَةَ فِي ٱلرِّزْقِ

allahumma a`tini alssa`ata fi alrrizqi

O' my Lord! Award me vastness in sustenance

وَٱلامْنَ فِي ٱلْوَطَنِ

wal-amni fi alwatani

And security in my homeland

وَقُرَّةَ ٱلْعَيْنِ فِي ٱلاهْلِ وَٱلْمَالِ وَٱلْوَلَدِ

wa qurrata al`ayni fi al-ahli walmali walwaladi

And the comfort of the eye in family, finances and offspring

وَٱلْمُقَامَ فِي نِعَمِكَ عِنْدِي

walmuqama fi ni`amika `indi

And the continued enjoyment of Your bounties

وَٱلصِّحَّةَ فِي ٱلْجِسْمِ

walssihhata fi aljismi

And health

وَٱلْقُوَّةَ فِي ٱلْبَدَنِ

walquwwata fi albadani

and strength in the body

وَٱلسَّلاَمَةَ فِي ٱلدِّينِ

walssalamata fi addini

And safeguard in faith

وَٱسْتَعْمِلْنِي بِطَاعَتِكَ وَطَاعَةِ رَسُولِكَ

wasta`milni bita`atika wa ta`ati rasulika

And forever utilize me in (establishing) Your obedience

مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ ابَداً مَا ٱسْتَعْمَرْتَنِي

muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa `ala alihi abadan ma ista`martani

and that of Prophet Muhammad peace of Allah upon him and his household as everlong as You advance my age

وَٱجْعَلْنِي مِنْ اوْفَرِ عِبَادِكَ عِنْدَكَ نَصِيباً

waj`alni min awfari `ibadika `indaka nasiban

And compel me to have the biggest share among Your worshipers

فِي كُلِّ خَيْرٍ انْزَلْتَهُ وَتُنْزِلُهُ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ

fi kulli khayrin anzaltahu wa tunziluhu fi shahri ramadana

in whatever good You ever caused to descend and especially what You award in the month of Ramadan

فِي لَيْلَةِ ٱلْقَدْرِ

fi laylati alqadri

in the Night of the Decree

وَمَا انْتَ مُنْزِلُهُ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ مِنْ رَحْمَةٍ تَنْشُرُهَا

wa ma anta munziluhu fi kulli sanatin min rahmatin tunshiruha

and what You are awarding every year from mercy that You dispense

وَعَافِيَةٍ تُلْبِسُهَا

wa `afiyatin tulbisuha

and good health that You harness

وَبَلِيَّةٍ تَدْفَعُهَا

wa baliyyatin tadfa`uha

and crises that You deter

وَحَسَنَاتٍ تَتَقَبَّلُهَا

wa hasanatin tataqabbaluha

and good deeds that You accept and bless

وَسَيِّئَاتٍ تَتَجَاوَزُ عَنْهَا

wa sayyi'atin tatajawazu `anha

and sins that You acquit

وَٱرْزُقْنِي حَجَّ بَيْتِكَ ٱلْحَرَامِ فِي عَامِنَا هٰذَا وَفِي كُلِّ عَامٍ

warzuqni hajja baytika alharami fi `amina hadha wa fi kulli `amin

And allot me with the ability to conduct pilgrimage to Your holy house in this year and every year thereafter

وَٱرْزُقْنِي رِزْقاً وَاسِعاً مِنْ فَضْلِكَ ٱلْوَاسِعِ

warzuqni rizqan wasi`an min fadlika alwasi`i

And grant me vast sustenance from Your vast bounties

وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي يَا سَيِّدِي ٱلاسْوَاءَ

wasrif `anni ya sayyidi al-aswa'a

And protect me, O' my Master, from encountering the misfortunes (of life)

وَٱقْضِ عَنِّي ٱلدَّيْنَ وَٱلظًُّلاَمَاتِ حَتَّىٰ لاَ اتَاذَّىٰ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْهُ

waqdi `anni alddayna walzzulamati hatta la ata'adhadha bishay'in minhu

And fulfill on my behalf all my borrowing and satisfy any injustice (I committed to others) so that I may not be harmed by any of it

وَخُذْ عَنِّي بِاسْمَاعِ وَابْصَارِ اعْدَائِي وَحُسَّادِي وَٱلْبَاغِينَ عَلَيَّ

wa khudh `anni bi'asma`i wa'absari a`da'i wa hussadi walbaghina `alayya

And preoccupy the hearing and sight of my enemies and the jealous and those who oppress me

وَٱنْصُرْنِي عَلَيْهِمْ

wansurni `alayhim

and award me victory over them

وَاقِرَّ عَيْنِي وَفَرِّحْ قَلْبِي

wa aqirra `ayni wa farrih qalbi

And comfort my eye, And delight my heart

وَٱجْعَلْ لِي مِنْ هَمِّي وَكَرْبِي فَرَجاً وَمَخْرَجاً

waj`al li min hammi wa karbi farajan wa makhrajan

And award me relief and resolution in all of my misfortunes and extremities

وَٱجْعَلْ مَنْ ارَادَنِي بِسُوءٍ مِنْ جَمِيعِ خَلْقِكَ تَحْتَ قَدَمَيَّ

waj`al man aradani bisu'in min jami`i khalqika tahta qadamayya

And compel any one who wishes me harm from all Your creatures, to be beneath my feet

وَٱكْفِنِي شَرَّ ٱلشَّيْطَانِ

wakfini sharra alshshaytani

And guard me from the evil of Satan

وَشَرَّ ٱلسُّلْطَانِ

wa sharra alssultani

and the evil of the monarch

وَسَيِّئَاتِ عَمَلِي

wa sayyi'ati `amali

as well as the evil brought about by my wrong doings

وَطَهِّرْنِي مِنَ ٱلذُّنُوبِ كُلِّهَا

wa tahhirni min aldhdhunubi kulliha

And cleanse me from all sins

وَاجِرْنِي مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ بِعَفْوِكَ

wa ajirni min alnnari bi`afwika

And salvage me from the hell fire with Your (divine) pardon

وَادْخِلْنِي ٱلْجَنَّةَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

wa adkhilni aljannata birahmatika

And award me paradise with Your mercy

وَزَوِّجْنِي مِنَ ٱلْحُورِ ٱلْعِينِ بِفَضْلِكَ

wa zawwijni min alhuri al`ini bifadlika

And marry me to the companions with the beautiful, big and lustrous eyes with Your bountifulness

وَالْحِقْنِي بِاوْلِيَائِكَ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ

wa alhiqni bi'awliya'aka alssalihina muhammadin wa alihi

And reunite me with Your righteous servants Muhammad and his household, the righteous

ٱلابْرَارِ ٱلطَّيِّبِينَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ ٱلاخْيَارِ

al-abrari alttayyibina alttahirina al-akhyari

the virtuous, the pure and the elite

صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَعَلَىٰ اجْسَادِهِمْ وَارْوَاحِهِمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

salawatuka `alayhim wa `ala ajsadihim wa arwahihim wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Your peace, mercy and blessings be upon them, their bodies, and their souls

إِلٰهِي وَسَيِّدِي وَعِزَّتِكَ وَجَلالِكَ

ilahi wa sayyidi wa `izzatika wa jalalika

O' my Lord and my Master! I swear with Your exalted might and majesty

لَئِنْ طَالَبْتَنِي بِذُنُوبِي لَاطَالِبَنَّكَ بِعَفْوِكَ

la'in talabtani bidhunubi la'utalibannaka bi`afwika

that if You reclaim my sins, I will call upon Your mercy

وَلَئِنْ طَالَبْتَنِي بِلُؤْمِي لَاطَالِبَنَّكَ بِكَرَمِكَ

wa la'in talabtani bilu'mi la'utalibannaka bikaramika

and if You reclaim my meanness, I will call upon Your generosity

وَلَئِنْ ادْخَلْتَنِي ٱلنَّارَ َلاخْبِرَنَّ اهْلَ ٱلنَّارِ بِحُبِّي لَكَ

wa la'in adkhaltani alnnara la'ukhbiranna ahla alnnari bihubbi laka

and if You forward me to the hell fire, I will inform its inmates about my adoration of You

إِلٰهِي وَسَيِّدِي إِنْ كُنْتَ لاَ تَغْفِرُ إِلاَّ لاوْلِيَائِكَ وَاهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ

ilahi wa sayyidi in kunta la taghfiru illa li'awliya'ika wa ahli ta`atika

O' my Lord and my Master! If You were to not forgive but Your devotees and constant obeyers

فَإِلَىٰ مَنْ يَفْزَعُ ٱلْمُذْنِبُونَ

fa'ila man yafza`u almudhnibuna

then to whom would the sinners resort to?

وَإِنْ كُنْتَ لاَ تُكْرِمُ إِلاَّ اهْلَ ٱلْوَفَاءِ بِكَ

wa in kunta la tukrimu illa ahla alwafa'i bika

And if You were to not honor but the people of loyalty to You

فَبِمَنْ يَسْتَغِيثُ ٱلْمُسِيئُونَ

fabiman yastaghithu almusi'una

then to whom the offenders would resort to?

إِلٰهِي إِنْ ادْخَلْتَنِي ٱلنَّارَ فَفِي ذٰلِكَ سُرُورُ عَدُوِّكَ

ilahi in adkhaltani alnnara fafi dhalika sururu `aduwwika

O' my Lord! If You cause me to enter the hell fire, it will be to the pleasure of Your enemy

وَإِنْ ادْخَلْتَنِي ٱلْجَنَّةَ فَفِي ذٰلِكَ سُرُورُ نَبِيِّكَ

wa in adkhaltani aljannata fafi dhalika sururu nabiyyika

But if You cause me to enter paradise, it will be to the pleasure of Your Prophet

وَانَا وَٱللَّهِ اعْلَمُ انَّ سُرُورَ نَبِيِّكَ احَبُّ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ سُرُورِ عَدُوِّكَ

wa ana wallahi a`lamu anna surura nabiyyika ahabbu ilayka min sururi `aduwwika

And verily, Oh Allah, I know that the pleasure of Your Prophet is more favorable to You than the pleasure of Your enemy

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْالُكَ انْ تَمْلا قَلْبِي حُبّاً لَكَ

allahumma inni as'aluka an tamla'a qalbi hubban laka

O'my Lord! I ask You to saturate my heart with Your love

وَخَشْيَةً مِنْكَ

wa khashyatan minka

fearing and observing You

وَتَصْدِيقاً بِكِتَابِكَ

wa tasdiqan bikitabika

believing in Your (holy) book

وَإِيـمَاناً بِكَ

wa imanan bika

faith in You

وَفَرَقاً مِنْكَ

wa faraqan minka

fright from You

وَشَوْقاً إِلَيْكَ

wa shawqan ilayka

and longing for You

يَا ذَا ٱلْجَلالِ وَٱلإِكْرَامِ حَبِّبْ إِلَيَّ لِقَاءَكَ

ya dha aljalali wal-ikrami habbib ilayya liqa'aka

O' the one who is full of majesty, bounty and honor!

وَاحْبِبْ لِقَائِي

wa ahbib liqa'i

Render me loving of Your meeting and love my meeting

وَٱجْعَلْ لِي فِي لِقَائِكَ ٱلرَّاحَةَ وَٱلْفَرَجَ وَٱلْكَرَامَةَ

waj`al li fi liqa'ika alrrahata walfaraja walkaramata

And grant me in meeting You comfort, happiness and honor

اَللَّهُمَّ الْحِقْنِي بِصَالِحِ مَنْ مَضَىٰ

allahumma alhiqni bisalihi man mada

O' my Lord! Unite me with the virtuous of those who preceded me

وَٱجْعَلْنِي مِنْ صَالِحِ مَنْ بَقِيَ وَخُذْ بِي سَبِيلَ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ

waj`alni min salihi man baqiya wa khudh bi sabila alssalihina

And render me to be among the virtuous of who remained, And lead me to the way of the virtuous

وَاعِنِّي عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي بِمَا تُعِينُ بِهِ ٱلصَّالِحِينَ عَلَىٰ انْفُسِهِمْ

wa a`inni `ala nafsi bima tu`inu bihi alssalihina `ala anfusihim

And aid me in restraining myself (from sin) with whatever You aid Your righteous believers with

وَٱخْتِمْ عَمَلِي بِاحْسَنِهِ

wakhtim `amali bi'ahsanihi

And culminate my deeds with their best

وَٱجْعَلْ ثَوَابِي مِنْهُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

waj`al thawabi minhu aljannata birahmatika

And make my reward from it heaven with Your mercy

وَاعِنِّي عَلَىٰ صَالِحِ مَا اعْطَيْتَنِي

wa a`inni `ala salihi ma a`taytani

And assist me in implementing the virtues that You granted me

وَثَبِّتْنِي يَا رَبِّ وَلاَ تَرُدَّنِي فِي سُوءٍ ٱسْتَنْقَذْتَنِي مِنْهُ

wa thabbitni ya rabbi wa la taruddani fi su'in istanqadhtani minhu

And anchor me (on the right path) O' Lord! And return me not to an error You rescued me from before

يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

ya rabba al`alamina

O' the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds!

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْالُكَ إِيـمَاناً لاَ اجَلَ لَهُ دُونَ لِقَائِكَ

allahumma inni as'aluka imanan la ajala lahu duna liqa'ika

O Allah, I beseech You for faith that does not stop until I meet You

احْيِنِي مَا احْيَيْتَنِي عَلَيْهِ

ahyini ma ahyaytani `alayhi

Prolong my life as long as You maintain me on it

وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا تَوَفَّيْتَنِي عَلَيْهِ

wa tawaffani idha tawaffaytani `alayhi

and claim my soul as long as You claim my soul while it is on it (faith)

وَٱبْعَثْنِي إِذَا بَعَثْتَنِي عَلَيْهِ

wab`athni idha ba`athnati `alayhi

and resurrect me as long as You resurrect me on it

وَابْرِئْ قَلْبِي مِنَ ٱلرِّيَاءِ وَٱلشَّكِّ وَٱلسُّمْعَةِ فِي دِينِكَ

wa abri' qalbi min alrriya'i walshshakki walssum`ati fi dinika

And purify my heart from pretension, doubt, and seeking reputation through Your religion

حَتَّىٰ يَكُونَ عَمَلِي خَالِصاً لَكَ

hatta takuna `amali khalisan laka

so that all my deeds would be solely intended for You

اَللَّهُمَّ اعْطِنِي بَصِيرَةً فِي دِينِكَ

allahumma a`tini basiratan fi dinika

O' my Lord! Award me insight in Your religion

وَفَهْماً فِي حُكْمِكَ

wa fahman fi hukmika

And understanding in Your judgment

وَفِقْهاً فِي عِلْمِكَ

wa fiqhan fi `ilmika

And awareness in Your knowledge

وَكِفْلَيْنِ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ

wa kiflayni min rahmatika

And surety in Your mercy

وَوَرَعاً يَحْجُزُنِي عَنْ مَعَاصِيكَ

wa wara`an yahjuzuni `an ma`asika

And piety that impedes me from disobeying You

وَبَيِّضْ وَجْهِي بِنُورِكَ

wa bayyid wajhi binurika

And brighten my face with Your light

وَٱجْعَلْ رَغْبَتِي فِيمَا عِنْدَكَ

waj`al raghbati fima `indaka

Make me desire for nothing but that which You hold

وَتَوَفَّنِي فِي سَبِيلِكَ وَعَلَىٰ مِلَّةِ رَسُولِكَ

wa tawaffani fi sabilika wa `ala millati rasulika

And claim my soul on Your path and on the religion of Your Prophet

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ

salla allahu `alayhi wa ala alihi

Peace of Allah upon him and his household

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ ٱلْكَسَلِ وَٱلْفَشَلِ

allahumma inni a`udhu bika min alkasali walfashali

O' my Lord! I seek refuge with You from laziness, failure

وَٱلْهَمِّ وَٱلْجُبْنِ وَٱلْبُخْلِ

walhammi waljubni walbukhli

misery, cowardliness, stinginess

وَٱلْغَفْلَةِ وَٱلْقَسْوَةِ وَٱلْمَسْكَنَةِ

walghaflati walqaswati walmaskanati

inattentiveness, brutality, poverty

وَٱلْفَقْرِ وَٱلْفَاقَةِ

walfaqri walfaqati

neediness, destitution

وَكُلِّ بَلِيَّةٍ وَٱلْفَوَاحِشِ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ

wa kulli baliyyatin walfawahishi ma zahara minha wa ma batana

indigence and every calamity; and the exorbitant of sins whether they are apparent or concealed

وَاعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ نَفْسٍ لاَ تَقْنَعُ

wa a`udhu bika min nafsin la taqna`u

And I seek refuge in You from a self that is never content

وَبَطْنٍ لاَ يَشْبَعُ

wa batnin la yashba`u

and a stomach that is never satisfied

وَقَلْبٍ لاَ يَخْشَعُ

wa qalbin la yakhsha`u

fearless heart

وَدُعَاءٍ لاَ يُسْمَعُ

wa du`a'in la yusma`u

and a prayer that is not accepted

وَعَمَلٍ لاَ يَنْفَعُ

wa `amalin la yanfa`u

And a futile deed

وَاعُوذُ بِكَ يَا رَبِّ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي وَدِينِي وَمَالِي

wa a`udhu bika ya rabbi `ala nafsi wa dini wa mali

And I depend upon You O' Lord, to safeguard my self, my religion, my finances

وَعَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ مَا رَزَقْتَنِي مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَانِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ

wa `ala jami`i ma razaqtani min alshshaytani alrrajimi

and all of what You awarded me, from the evil of the cursed Satan

إِنَّكَ انْتَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ

innaka anta alssami`u al`alimu

Indeed, You are the One who hears and knows all things

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّهُ لاَ يُجِيرُنِي مِنْكَ احَدٌ

allahumma innahu la yujiruni minka ahadun

O' my Lord! Indeed no one can shield me from Your (punishment)

وَلاَ اجِدُ مِنْ دُونِكَ مُلْتَحَداً

wa la ajidu min dunika multahadan

and I can not find before You any other shelter

فَلاَ تَجْعَلْ نَفْسِي فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ عَذَابِكَ

fala taj`al nafsi fi shay'in min `adhabika

So leave not in me any deed worthy of Your punishment

وَلاَ تَرُدَّنِي بِهَلَكَةٍ

wa la taruddani bihalakatin

do not let me lead myself to perdition

وَلاَ تَرُدَّنِي بِعَذَابٍ الِيمٍ

wa la taruddani bi`adhabin alimin

and do not make me deserve the painful chastisement

اَللَّهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ مِنِّي

allahumma taqabbal minni

O Allah, accept from me

وَاعْلِ ذِكْرِي

wa a`li dhikri

grant me reputation

وَٱرْفَعْ دَرَجَتِي

warfa` darajati

elevate my rank

وَحُطَّ وِزْرِي

wa huttta wizri

exonerate my offenses

وَلاَ تَذْكُرْنِي بِخَطِيئَتِي

wa la tadhkurni bikhati'ati

do not refer to me with my faults

وَٱجْعَلْ ثَوَابَ مَجْلِسِي

waj`al thawaba majlisi

let the reward of my sessions

وَثَوَابَ مَنْطِقِي

wa thawaba mantiqi

my utterances

وَثَوَابَ دُعَائِي رِضَاكَ وَٱلْجَنَّةَ

wa thawaba du`a'i ridaka waljannata

and my prayer be Your pleasure and Paradise

وَاعْطِنِي يَا رَبِّ جَمِيعَ مَا سَالْتُكَ وَزِدْنِي مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

wa a`tini ya rabbi jami`a ma sa'altuka wa zidni min fadlika

And award me, O' Lord, all of what I have asked from You and increase it with Your bountifulness

إِنِّي إِلَيْكَ رَاغِبٌ يَا رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

inni ilayka raghibun ya rabba al`alamina

for I seek none but You, O Lord of the worlds!

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ انْزَلْتَ فِي كِتَابِكَ انْ نَعْفُوَ عَمَّنْ ظَلَمَنَا

allahumma innaka anzalta fi kitabika an na`fuwa `amman zalamana

O Allah, You have ordered us in Your book that we should overlook those who wrong us

وَقَدْ ظَلَمْنَا انْفُسَنَا فَٱعْفُ عَنَّا فَإِنَّكَ اوْلَىٰ بِذٰلِكَ مِنَّا

wa qad zalamna anfusana fa`fu `anna fa'innaka awla bidhalika minna

and we have wronged ourselves (by sinning) so pardon our conduct, for You are more worthy of pardoning than we are

وَامَرْتَنَا انْ لاَ نَرُدَّ سَائِلاً عَنْ ابْوَابِنَا

wa amartana an la narudda sa'ilan `an abwabina

And You commanded us not turn away the needy who knock on our doors

وَقَدْ جِئْتُكَ سَائِلاً فَلاَ تَرُدَّنِي إِلاَّ بِقَضَاءِ حَاجَتِي

wa qad ji'tuka sa'ilan fala taruddani illa biqada'i hajati

and I hereby come to You needy, so turn me not away until You fulfill my need

وَامَرْتَنَا بِٱلإِحْسَانِ إِلَىٰ مَا مَلَكَتْ ايْمَانُنَا

wa amartana bil-ihsani ila ma malakat aymanuna

You have ordered us to act nicely to those under our authorities

وَنَحْنُ ارِقَّاؤُكَ فَاعْتِقْ رِقَابَنَا مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ

wa nahnu ariqqa'uka fa'a`tiq riqabana min alnnari

and You hold authority over us, so liberate our necks from the hell fire

يَا مَفْزَعِي عِنْدَ كُرْبَتِي

ya mafza`i `inda kurbati

O' the Shelter I seek whenever I am in misfortune!

وَيَا غَوْثِي عِنْدَ شِدَّتِي

wa ya ghawthi `inda shiddati

O my Aid whenever hardships hit me!

إِلَيْكَ فَزِعْتُ

ilayka fazi`tu

To You have I resorted

وَبِكَ ٱسْتَغَثْتُ وَلُذْتُ

wa bika istaghathtu wa ludhtu

With You have I sought refuge and haven

لاَ الُوذُ بِسِوَاكَ

la aludhu bisiwaka

To none save You shall I ever resort

وَلاَ اطْلُبُ ٱلْفَرَجَ إِلاَّ مِنْكَ

wa la atlubu alfaraja illa minka

From none save You shall I ever seek for relief

فَاغِثْنِي وَفَرِّجْ عَنِّي

fa'aghithni wa farrij `anni

So come to my aid, and relieve me

يَا مَنْ يَقْبَلُ ٱلْيَسِيرَ وَيَعْفُو عَنِ ٱلْكَثِيرِ

ya man yaqbalu alyasira wa ya`fu `an alkathira

O' One who liberates the captives, accepts the little (of good deeds), and pardons the numerous (of sin)

ٱقْبَلْ مِنِّيَ ٱلْيَسِيرَ وَٱعْفُ عَنِّيَ ٱلْكَثِيرَ

iqbal minni alyasira wa`fu `anni alkathira

accept from me the little (good) I have done, and forgive for me the numerous (sins I have committed)

إِنَّكَ انْتَ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٱلْغَفُورُ

innaka anta alghafuru alrrahimu

Indeed, You are the Most Merciful and Oft-forgiving

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اسْالُكَ إِيـمَاناً تُبَاشِرُ بِهِ قَلْبِي

allahumma inni as'aluka imanan tubashiru bihi qalbi

O Allah, I pray You for faith that covers my heart

وَيَقِيناً صَادِقاً حَتَّىٰ اعْلَمَ انَّهُ لَنْ يُصِيبَنِي إِلاَّ مَا كَتَبْتَ لِي

wa yaqinan sadiqan hatta a`lama annahu lan yusibani illa ma katabta li

and for honest conviction so that I will believe that nothing will inflict me save that about which You have already known

وَرَضِّنِي مِنَ ٱلْعَيْشِ بِمَا قَسَمْتَ لِي

wa raddini min al`ayshi bima qasamta li

Make me be satisfied with my livelihood that You have decided for me

يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

ya arhama alrrahimina

O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
