मौला बड़ा काम कियाO Master, you accomplished a momentous deed,

दीन-ए-ख़ुदा आम किया।You made God's religion universal.

कर न सका कोई कभी, तूने वही काम किया।What no one could ever do, that is what you achieved.

वादा वफ़ा करके रहा,You fulfilled your sacred promise,

सर न झुका, हक़ पे जिया,Never bowing your head, living for the Truth,

सबसे बड़ा मेरा ख़ुदा,"My God is the greatest,"

करता रहा ऐलान हुसैन।Thus proclaimed Hussain.

शाह हुसैन, बादशाह हुसैन,Hussain is the ruler, Hussain is the king,

दीन अस्त हुसैन, दीन पनाह अस्त हुसैन।Hussain is faith, Hussain is the refuge of faith.

कर्बला इश्क़-ए-ख़ुदा,Karbala is the love of God,

इश्क़ का तू सुल्तान हुसैन।And you, Hussain, are the sovereign of love.

इश्क़ तेरा इश्क़-ए-ख़ुदा,Your love is the very love of God,

नोक-ए-सिना तक जो गया।A love that reached even the point of the spear.

इश्क़ में जो तूने दिया,What you sacrificed in love,

कोई भी वो दे न सका।No one else could ever give.

नूर-ए-ख़ुदा, दस्त-ए-ख़ुदा,Light of God, Hand of God,

तेरे सिवा कौन हुआ?Who else could be but you?

कहना पड़ा, लिखना पड़ा,It had to be spoken, it had to be written:

है ये तेरा एहसान हुसैन।This is entirely your benevolence, Hussain.

मीर ए हरम रब की कसम तेरा ये गम होगा ना कमMaster of the Sanctuary, by the Lord, this sorrow for you will never fade.

अर्श ए अजा हक की सदा है ये तेरा फैजान हुसैनThe throne of mourning, the voice of Truth—this is your boundless grace, O Hussain.

अज्म ए जवां तश्ना लबांPossessor of youthful resolve, yet thirsty-lipped,

बे वतना बे कफनाExiled from home, left without a shroud,

तेरे लिए है ये फुगांFor you rises this lamentation,

अर्श ओ जमीं नौहा कुनांHeaven and earth are weeping and mourning,

दर्द ए दिलां तश्ना दहां खुश्क लबों नोक ए सिनाAches in hearts, parched mouths, dried lips upon the spearhead—

तन से जुदा सर था मगर पढ़ता रहा कुरान हुसैनThough his head was severed from his body, Hussain kept reciting the Quran.

मातम की सदा है कि ये तू बोल रहा हैThe sound of mourning is as if you yourself are speaking.

इश्क-ए-खुदा तेरी अदा नाम तेरा सुनता रहाDivine love is your grace; the world continued to hear your name.

कर्बला की है सदा तू है बड़ा इंसान हुसैनKarbala proclaims: You are the greatest of humanity, O Hussain!

तू ज़िंदा अज़ादारी तेरी ज़िंदा रहेगीYou live on, and mourning for you shall remain alive forever.

वो कौम जो बेदार है ग़म तेरा करेगीThe nation that is awakened will mourn for you,

आवाज़-ए-अज़ा जो तेरे रौज़े से उठेगीThe call of mourning that will rise from your shrine,

वल्लाह ख़ुदाई तेरी आवाज़ सुनेगीBy God, all creation will hear your voice!

शाह-ए-ज़मन, हादी-ए-मनKing of the age, my guide,

नाज़-ए-चमन, शीरीं-सुख़न शान-ए-नबीPride of the garden, sweet in speech, Glory of the Prophet,

शान-ए-अली यानी मेरी जान हुसैनGlory of Ali, That is, my very life, Hussain!

शाह हुसैन, बादशाह हुसैनPrince is Hussain, King is Hussain,

दीन अस्त हुसैन, दीन पनाह अस्त हुसैनFaith is Hussain, the refuge of faith is Hussain!

तुम पे सदा जान करेंMay we forever offer our lives for you,

तुम पे फ़िदाSacrificed upon you,

है ये मेरा अरमान हुसैनThis is my sole desire, O Hussain!
