تبكي يمك تشتكي لك بالدمعWeeping beside you, crying out to you in tears,

تلوم المصابLamenting this tragic calamity.

وعلى قبرك لما وصلتAnd when she reached your grave,

تبكي وتشتم الترابWeeping and smelling its soil,

خويا نادت يا كفيليShe cried: "O brother, O my protector!"

وأنت ما منك جواب (2x)Yet no answer comes from you,

صاحت بالضمير (2x)She cried from the depths of her soul,

بعد صاحت بالضميرAgain, she cried from the depths of her soul:

منحني الظهر (2x)"Bent with a broken back,

آه يا أبو الفضل (2x)Ah, O Abu al-Fadl!

زينب عالهزيلZaynab is upon the emaciated camel,

بأربعينك كلنا جينا يا أبو فاضل ع العهد (2x)On your Arba'een, We all came, O Abu Fadil, faithful to the covenant,

ما تركنا الزيارة (2x)We have not abandoned the pilgrimage,

لو تمر بينا الشددEven if severe hardships afflict us.

يفجرونا يهددونا (3x)Though they bomb us and threaten us,

وإحنا جينا ع الوعدStill we have kept our promised meeting.

فدوة لكم كل عمرناMay our entire lives be sacrificed for you,

ما نسيناكم أبدWe have never forgotten you,

ما نسيناWe have not forgotten.

نفديكم عمر وندوس الجمر (2x)We sacrifice our lives for you and tread upon burning embers,

فيكم ما نغدرWe will never betray you.

تبكي يمك تشتكي لك بالدمع تلوم المصابShe weeps beside you, complaining to you, lamenting the tragedy with tears.

وعلى قبرك لما وصلت تبكي وتشم الترابAnd when she reached your grave, she wept and smelled the soil.

اخوي نادت يا كفيلي وانت ما عندك جوابShe called out, 'O my brother, O my protector!' yet you give no reply.

صاحت بالدمع منحنية الظهر (2x)She cried out with tears, her back bent with grief.
