أخاف أشتكي لك وأعذّب دليلكI fear to complain to you and torment your heart,

وأريد بدموعي أبرد غليلكyet I yearn to soothe your burning thirst with my tears.

جسم ظليت يا جمرة حنينيWhen you are left as a severed body, O burning ember of my longing?

يعذرك ونينيMy wailing excuses you,

عسى من انقطع يساري ويمينيWould that my own left and right hands had been severed instead!

شو يرجع لهفتي وأخاف برجعتيWhat could restore my yearning heart? And I fear that upon my return,

بعد ما أشوفكI will never see you again.
