قد هل وتجلى نوره بحسينHis crescent has appeared, and His light manifested in Hussain.
ومحمد يتشهد بيديه حسينAnd Muhammad bears witness, holding Hussain in his hands:
هذا ابني هو مني وأنا من حسين“This is my son; he is of me, and I am of Hussain.”
جبرائيل قد تلاه لما أتاهGabriel recited it when he came to him:
هذا الذي رب السماء قد روى“This is the one about whom the Lord of Heaven narrated.”
اقرأ نعيا فوق لوح وبعض نوحRecite an elegy inscribed upon a tablet, with weeping and wailing,
وآية جلية عن الهوىand a clear verse elevated above earthly desire.
حل أول العزاء عند الحراءThe first mourning descended at Mount Hira,
وأحمد بظله قد اكتوىand Ahmad burned with grief in its shadow.
عينه لما تزال من الأزلHis eye has never ceased from pre-eternity
تفيض كي تسقي ورود في نينوىto overflow, so it may water the roses of Nineveh.
