فوجدناك نصراً مبيناand we found in you a clear victory.

يا أمين القلوب سلاماًO trustee of hearts, peace be upon you;

أبد الدهر تبقى أميناfor all eternity, you remain our faithful guardian.

ونقول للحسين عليه السلامAnd we say to al-Husayn, peace be upon him,

كما قال بعد الحسين أئمتنا وعلماؤناjust as our Imams and scholars said after al-Husayn,

وكل التاريخ: من هوان الدنيا على الله سبحانه وتعالىand as all history testifies: of the insignificance of this world to Allah, the Glorified and Exalted,

ما سقطت القدس يوماًJerusalem has never fallen for a single day,

لم تكن للعدا مستكيناand you never yielded to the enemy.

وأذقت ظالمها هوناYou made its oppressors taste humiliation,

حينما غزا الليل يهوناwhen the darkness invaded our sanctuaries.

وختمت الحياة شهيداً خالداًAnd you concluded your life as an immortal martyr,

قد بكتك العيوناwhom all eyes have wept for.

يا حبيب القلبO beloved of the heart,

هلا عدت يوماًwould that you return one day,

كي ترى من طول بعدك كم حزيناto see how deeply we grieve from your prolonged absence.

السلام عليك يا سيدي ومولاي يا أبا عبد اللهPeace be upon you, O my master and liege, O Aba Abdillah,

على الأرواح التي حلت بفنائكand upon the souls that gathered in your threshold,

عليكم مني سلام الله أبداًupon you from me be the peace of Allah forever.

علمت الحياة دروساًYou taught life lessons,

ووهبت الشعوب يقيناand bestowed unwavering certainty upon the nations:

إن من قاوموا سوف يبقوا حين يفنى الورى خالدينThose who resisted shall remain immortal when all mankind fades away.

هكذا منك أنا سمعنا وسمعنا الخطاب المبيناThus we heard from you, and we heard the clear, eloquent speech.

واتخذت الحسين مثالاYou took al-Husayn as your guide and exemplar,

حسن صرت فينا حسيناO Hassan, you became a Husayn among us.

ورسمت في الجنوب يوم طفAnd you drew in the South a day of Karbala,

كم يسارا طار فيه ويميناHow wings of triumph flew to the left and to the right!

إلى اللقاء مع انتصار الدم على السيفFarewell, until the victory of blood over the sword!

إلى اللقاء في الشهادةFarewell, until we meet in martyrdom!

إلى اللقاء في جوار الأحبةFarewell, until we meet beside the beloveds,

والسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتهAnd peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah, and His blessings.

حينما صلت وحيداWhen you stood alone in the fray,

لفلسطين كنت معيناYou were a steadfast helper to Palestine.

لم تبال بأي حتفYou cared not what manner of death you faced,

يوم منها سمعت الأنيناThe day you heard her bitter groans.

سيدي إن رحلت سيبقىMy master, if you have departed, there shall remain

كل حر إليك مديناEvery free soul indebted to you.

لم نعد ساعة الموت نخشىWe no longer fear the hour of death,

إنما إن تغب خشيناIt is only your absence that we feared.

غار وجه الصبح لما غبت عناThe face of dawn grew dim and pale when you departed from us,

عظم الله أجور المؤمنينMay Allah magnify the reward of the believers.

سيد المجد أشرقت فيناO master of glory, you shone radiant among us,

فوجدناك نصرا مبيناAnd we found you to be a manifest victory.

يا أمين القلوب سلاماO guardian of hearts, peace be upon you,

أبد الدهر تبقى أميناForever throughout all eternity, you remain our faithful guardian.
