لكن شاهد الصديقة الكبرىbut he beheld the Greatest Truthful Lady,
دعت مشتاقةً عجل أنا الزهراءlongingly calling out: "Hasten, I am al-Zahra!
وهذا محسنٌ ناداك فاصبرا (2x)And here is Muhsin calling you: suffice with patience!"
عد يا علي لا لا تخيب فاطمة يا موئليReturn, O Ali, do not disappoint Fatima, O my refuge!
امسح دموعاً ساجمةWipe away her flowing tears.

وحيدرا علي باسمه تمت رسالاتO Haydar! Ali, in his name divine messages reached completion,
تجلت فيه للهِ مرآةin him was manifested a mirror reflecting God.

جبريل في العلياء نعى البسملةGabriel cried the death knell in the heavens, The Basmala,
ناحت سحّ الأدمعwept as tears poured down,
زلزلة جبريل في العليا نعىan earthquake, Gabriel cried the death knell in the heavens:
خير الورى"The best of mankind!"
وحيدره وحيدرهO Haydar! O Haydar!
السيف بالسيف انطبرThe sword struck through his head,
هل يا ترى يمضي عليcould it really be that Ali is departing,
يا قدرٌ إن كبراO fate, how immense this calamity is!
وحيدرة وحيدرةO Haydar! O Haydar!

يمضي علي يا قدر ان كبراWill Ali depart, O immense decree?
عجيب كم أحب المرتضى ربهWondrous is how deeply al-Murtada loved his Lord,
لذا قد أوجب الباري بنا حبهAnd so the Creator made loving him obligatory upon us.
كفاه رتبة ما بعدها رتبةSufficient for him is a station above which none exists:
علي وحده من أمه الكعبة (2x)Ali alone is he whose mother is the Kaaba,
اليوم تبكي ابنها فالصرخةToday she weeps for her son, and the cry—
قد فزت سقطت أذنها الكعبة“I have triumphed!” struck the ears of the Kaaba.

تدمي القرىIt bleeds across all lands,

مكبرا أرى الأيتام عند الباب في ذعرGlorifying God! I see the orphans at the door in terrified dread,
عجيب لم تجبهم سورة الدهرStrange that Surah al-Dahr does not answer them!
وكل قام يدعو كاشف الضرEach one stands praying to the Remover of harm:
إلهي اشف من يوفون بالنذر (2x)“O my God, heal the one who fulfills his vows!
ارحمهم وانهض يا كف الزمنHave mercy on them and rise, O support of all time!
وانظرهم مدوا الأيادي باللبنLook at them, extending their hands with bowls of milk,
ارحمهم وانهض يا كف الزمنHave mercy on them and rise, O support of all time!

كي تبراSo that you may heal,
