دعاء مكارم الأخلاق
أَللَّهمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَبَلِّغْ بِإيْمَانِي أكْمَلَ الإِيْمَانِ،
wa bal-ligh bieemaaneee ak-malal-eemaan
cause my faith to become the most perfect kind of faith,
وَاجْعَلْ يَقِينِي أَفْضَلَ الْيَقِينِ،
waj-a'l yaqeeneee af-z''alal-yaqeen
Make my certainty into the most excellent kind of certainty,
و انتَهِ بِنِيَّتِي إلَى أَحْسَنِ النِّيَّـاتِ،
wantahee binee-yateee ilaaa ah'-sanin-nee-yaati
and transform my intention into the best of intentions
وَبِعَمَلِي إلى أَحْسَنِ الأعْمَالِ.
wa bia'maleee ilaaa ah'-sanil-aa'-maal
and my works into the best of works!
أللَّهُمَّ وَفِّرْ بِلُطْفِكَ نِيَّتِي،
al-laahum-ma waf-fir bilut'-fika nee-yatee
O God, fulfill my intention through Your gentleness,
وَصَحِّحْ بِمَـا عِنْدَكَ يَقِينِي،
wa s'ah'-h'ih' bimaa i'ndaka yaqeenee
correct my certainty through what is with You,
وَاسْتَصْلِحْ بِقُدْرَتِكَ مَا فَسَدَ مِنِّي.
was-tas'-lih' biqud-ratika maa fasada min-nee
and set right what is corrupt in me through Your power!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَاكْفِنِي مَا يَشْغَلُنِي الاهْتِمَامُ بِهِ،
wak-finee maa yash-ghaluneelih-timaamu bih
spare me the concerns which distract me,
وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي بِمَا تَسْأَلُنِي غَداً عَنْهُ
was-taa'-mil-nee bimaa tas-alunee ghadana a'n-h
employ me in that about which You will ask me tomorrow,
وَاسْتَفْرِغْ أَيَّامِي فِيمَا خَلَقْتَنِي لَهُ،
was-taf-righ ay-yaamee feemaa khalaq-tanee lah
and let me pass my days in what You have created me!
وَأَغْنِنِي وَأَوْسِعْ عَلَىَّ فِي رِزْقِكَ،
wa agh-ninee wa aw-sia' a'lay-ya fee riz-qika
Free me from need, expand Your provision towards me,
وَلاَ تَفْتِنِّي بِالبَطَرِ، وَأَعِزَّنِي، وَلا تَبْتَلِيَنِّي بِالْكِبْرِ،
wa laa taf-tin-nee bibat'ar wa ai'z-zanee wa laa tab-taleean-nee bil-kib-r
and do not tempt me with ingratitude! Exalt me, and do not afflict me with pride!
وَعَبِّدْنِي لَكَ وَلاَ تُفْسِدْ عِبَادَتِي بِالْعُجْبِ،
wa a'b-bid-nee laka wa laa tuf-sid i'baadatee bil-u'j-b
Make me worship You and do not corrupt my worship with self-admiration!
وَأَجْرِ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَى يَدَيَّ الْخَيْرَ، وَلا تَمْحَقْهُ بِالْمَنِّ،
wa aj-ri liln-naasi a'laa yadeeal-khay-ra wa laa tam-h'aq-hoo bil-man
Let goodness go from from my hands to other people, and do not remove it by my making them feel obliged!
وَهَبْ لِي مَعَالِيَ الأَخْلاَقِ، وَاعْصِمْنِي مِنَ الْفَخْرِ.
wa hab lee maa'aleeal-akh-laaq waa'-s'im-nee minal-fakh-r
Give me the highest moral traits and preserve me from vanity!
اللَّهُمَّ صَـلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَلا تَـرْفَعْنِي فِيْ النَّاسِ دَرَجَـةً
wa laa tar-faa'-nee fin-naasi darajatan
do not raise me by a single notch before other people,
إلاّ حَطَطْتَنِي عِنْدَ نَفْسِي مِثْلَهَا،
il-laa h'at'at'-tanee i'nda naf-see mith-lahaa
without similarly lowering me within myself,
وَلا تُحْدِثْ لِي عِزّاً ظَاهِرَاً
wa laa tuh'-dith lee i'z-zan z'aahiran
and do not not lift me up externally,
إلاّ أَحْدَثْتَ لِي ذِلَّةً بَاطِنَةً عِنْدَ نَفْسِي بِقَدَرِهَا.
il-laaa ah'-dath-ta lee d'il-latam-baat'inatan i'nda naf-see biqadarihaa
without myself lowering me internally by the same amount.
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد،
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaali muh'am-mad
O God, bless Muhammad and Muhammad's Household,
وَمَتِّعْنِي بِهُدىً صَالِح لا أَسْتَبْدِلُ بِهِ،
wa mat-tia'-nee bihudana s'aalih'il-laaa as-tab-dilu bih
let me enjoy solid guidance which I do not try to replace,
وَطَرِيقَةِ حَقٍّ لا أَزِيْغُ عَنْهَا،
wa t'areeqati h'aq-qil-laaa azeeghu a'n-haa
a path of truth which I do not leave,
وَنِيَّةِ رُشْد لاَ أَشُكُّ فِيْهَا
wa nee-yati rush-dil-laaa ashuk-ku feehaa
and an intention of right conduct in which I have no doubts!
وَعَمِّرْنِي مَا كَانَ عُمْرِيْ بِذْلَةً فِي طَاعَتِكَ،
wa a'm-mir-nee maa kaana u'm-ree bid'-latan fee t'aaa'tika
Let me live, so long as my life is a free gift in obeying You,
فَإذَا كَانَ عُمْرِي مَرْتَعَاً لِلشَّيْطَانِ
faad'aa kaana u'm-ree mar-taa'l-lilsh-shay-t'aani
but if my life should become a pasture for satan,
فَـاقْبِضْنِي إلَيْـكَ قَبْـلَ أَنْ يَسْبِقَ مَقْتُـكَ إلَيَّ،
faq-biz''-neee ilay-ka qab-la ay-yas-biqa maq-tuka ilay
take me to Yourself before Your abhorrence overtakes me
أَوْ يَسْتَحْكِمَ غَضَبُكَ عَلَيَّ.
aw yas-tah'-kima ghaz''abuka a'lay
or Your wrath against me becomes firm!
أللَّهُمَّ لا تَدَعْ خَصْلَةً تُعَابُ مِنِّي إلاّ أَصْلَحْتَهَا،
al-laahum-ma laa tadaa'- khas'-latan tua'abu min-neee il-laaa as'-lah'-tahaa
O God, deposit in me no quality for which I will be faulted, unless You make it right,
وَلا عَآئِبَةً أُؤَنَّبُ بِهَا إلاّ حَسَّنْتَهَا،
wa laa a'aa-ibatan oo-an-nabu bihaaa il-laa h'as-santahaa
no flaw for which I will be blamed, unless You make it beautiful,
وَلاَ أُكْرُومَـةً فِيَّ نَاقِصَةً إلاّ أَتْمَمْتَهَا.
wa laaa uk-roomatan fee-ya naaqis'atan il-laaa st-mam-tahaa
no deficient noble trait, unless You complete it!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaali muh'am-mad
O God, bless Muhammad and Muhammad's Household,
وَأَبْدِلْنِي مِنْ بِغْضَةِ أَهْلِ الشَّنَئانِ الْمَحَبَّةَ
wa ab-dil-nee mim-bigh-z''ati ah-lish-shanaanil-mah'ab-bah
and for me, replace the animosity of the people of hatred with love,
وَمِنْ حَسَدِ أَهْلِ الْبَغْيِ الْمَوَدَّةَ،
wa min h'asadi ah-lil-bagh-yil-mawad-dah
the envy of the people of insolence with affection,
وَمِنْ ظِنَّةِ أَهْلِ الصَّلاَحِ الثِّقَةَ،
wa min z'in-nati ah-lis'-s'alaah'ith-thiqah
the suspicion of the people of righteousness with trust,
وَمِنْ عَدَاوَةِ الأَدْنَيْنَ الْوَلايَةَ،
wa min a'daawatil-ad-nay-nal-walaayah
the enmity of those close by, with friendship,
وَمِنْ عُقُوقِ ذَوِي الأَرْحَامِ الْمَبَرَّةَ،
wa min u'qooqi d'aweel-ar-h'aamil-mabar-rah
the disrespect of brothers or sisters with devotion,
ومِنْ خِـذْلانِ الأَقْرَبِينَ النُّصْـرَةَ،
wa min khid'-laanil-aq-rabeenan-nus'-rah
the abandonment of relatives with help,
وَمِنْ حُبِّ الْمُدَارِينَ تَصْحيحَ الْمِقَةِ،
wa min h'ub-bil-mudaareena tas'-h'eeh'al-miqah
the attachment of flatterers with love set right,
وَمِنْ رَدِّ الْمُلاَبِسِينَ َكَرَمَ الْعِشْرَةِ،
wa mir-rad-dil-mulaabiseena karamal-i'sh-rah
the rejection of companions with generous friendliness,
وَمِنْ مَرَارَةِ خَوْفِ الظَّالِمِينَ حَلاَوَةَ الأَمَنَةِ.
wa mim-maraarati khaw-fiz'-z'aalimeena h'alaawatal-amanah
and the bitterness of the fear of wrongdoers with the sweetness of security!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَاجْعَلْ لِيْ يَداً عَلَى مَنْ ظَلَمَنِي
waj-a'l-lee yadan a'laa man z'alamanee
appoint for me a hand against him who does me wrong,
وَلِسَـاناً عَلَى مَنْ خَـاصَمَنِي
wa lisaanan a'laa man khaas'amanee
a tongue against him who disputes with me,
وَظَفَراً بِمَنْ عَانَدَنِي
wa z'afaram-biman a'anadanee
and a victory over him who stubbornly resists me!
وَهَبْ لِي مَكْراً عَلَى مَنْ كَايَدَنِي
wa hab lee mak-ran a'laa man kaayadanee
Give me schrewdness against him who schemes against me,
وَقُدْرَةً عَلَى مَنِ اضْطَهَدَنِي
wa qud-ratan a'laa mani az''-t'ahadanee
power over him who oppresses me,
وَتَكْذِيباً لِمَنْ قَصَبَنِي
wa tak-d'eebal-liman qas'abanee
refutation of him who reviles me,
وَسَلاَمَةً مِمَّنْ تَوَعِّدَنِي
wa salaamatam-mim-man tawaa'-a'danee
and safety from him who threatens me!
وَوَفِّقْنِي لِطَاعَةِ مَنْ سَدَّدَنِي
wa waf-fiq-nee lit'aaa'ti man sad-dadanee
Grant me success to obey him who sets me on the straight path,
وَمُتَابَعَةِ مَنْ أَرْشَدَنِي
wa mutaabaa'ti man ar-shadanee
and make me follow him who guides me right!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَسَدِّدْنِي لاَِنْ أعَـارِضَ مَنْ غَشَّنِي بِالنُّصْـحِ،
wa sad-did-nee lian-ua'ariz''a man ghash-shanee bin-nus'-h'
and directt to resist him who is dishonest toward me with good counsel,
وَأَجْـزِيَ مَنْ هَجَرَنِي بِالْبِرِّ وَأُثِيبَ مَنْ حَرَمَنِي بِالْبَذْلِ
wa aj-zeea man hajaranee bil-bir wa uyouba man h'aramanee bil-bad'-l
repay him who separates from me with gentle devotion, reward him who deprives me with free giving,
وَأُكَافِيَ مَنْ قَطَعَنِي بِالصِّلَةِ
wa ukaafi-a man qat'aa'nee bis'-s'ilah
reward him, who cuts me off, with asscoaitaion,
وأُخَـالِفَ مَنِ اغْتَابَنِي إلَى حُسْنِ الذِّكْرِ،
wa ukhaalifa mani agh-taabaneee ilaa h'us-nid'-d'ik-r
oppose him who slanders me with excellent mention,
وَأَنْ أَشْكرَ الْحَسَنَةَ وَاُغْضِيَ عَنِ السَّيِّئَـةِ.
wa an ash-kural-h'asanah wa ugh-z''eea a'nis-say-yi-ah
give thanks for good, and shut my eyes to evil!
أللَّهُمَّ صَـلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّـد وَآلِـهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَحَلِّنِي بِحِلْيَـةِ الصَّالِحِينَ،
wa h'al-linee bih'il-yatis'-s'aalih'een
adorn me with the adornment of the righteous,
وَأَلْبِسْنِي زِينَةَ المُتَّقِينَ فِيْ بَسْطِ الْعَدْلِ
wa al-bis-nee zeenatal-mut-taqeena fee bas-t'il-a'd-l
and clothe me in the ornaments of the God-fearing through spreading justice,
وَكَظْمِ الْغَيْظِ وَإطْفَاءِ النَّائِرَةِ وَضَمِّ أَهْلِ الْفُرْقَةِ
wa kaz'-mil-ghay-z' wa it'-faaa-in-naaa-irah wa z''am-mi ah-lil-fur-qah
restraining rage, quenching the flame of hate, bringing together the people of separation,
وَإصْلاَحِ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ وَإفْشَاءِ الْعَارِفَةِ،
wa is'-laahee d'aatil-bay-n wa if-shaaa-il-a'arifah
correcting discord, spreading about good behaviour,
وَسَتْرِ الْعَائِبَةِ، وَلِينِ الْعَرِيكَةِ،
wa sat-ril-a'aa-ibah wa leenil-a'reekah
covering faults, mildness of temper,
وَخَفْضِ الْجَنَـاحِ، وَحُسْنِ السِّيرَةِ،
wa khaf-z''il-janaah' wa h'us-nis-seerah
mild humility, beauty of conduct,
وَسُكُونِ الرِّيـحِ، وَطِيْبِ الْمُخَالَقَـةِ،
wa sukoonir-reeh' wa t'eebil-mukhaalafah
depth of conduct, agreeableness in behavior,
وَالسَّبْقِ إلَى الْفَضِيلَةِ، وإيْثَارِ التَّفَضُّلِ و تَركِ التَّعييرِ،
was-sab-qi ilaal-faz''eelah wa eethaarit-tafaz''-z''ul wa tar-kit-taa'-yeer
precedence in reaching excellence, preferring lack of selfishness, refraining from condemnation,
وَالإفْضَالِ عَلَى غَيْرِ الْمُسْتَحِقِّ وَالـقَوْلِ بِالْحَقِّ وَإنْ عَـزَّ
wal-if-z''aali a'laa ghay-ril-mus-tah'iq wal-qaw-li bil-h'aq-qi wa in a'zz
bestowing bounty on the undeserving, speaking the truth (even when it is painful),
وَاسْتِقْلاَلِ الخَيْـرِ وَإنْ كَثُـرَ مِنْ قَـوْلِي وَفِعْلِي ،
was-tiq-laalil-khay-ri wa in kathura min qaw-lee wa fi'-lee
making little of the good in my words and deeds (even if it is much),
وَاسْتِكْثَارِ الشَّرِّ وَإنْ قَلَّ مِنْ قَوْلِي وَفِعْلِي،
was-tik-thaarish-shar-ri wa in qal-la min qaw-lee wa fi'-lee
and making much of the evil in my words and deeds, (even if it is little)!
وَأكْمِلْ ذَلِكَ لِي بِدَوَامِ الطَّاعَةِ وَلُزُومِ الْجَمَاعَةِ
wa ak-mil d'alika lee bidawaamit'-t'aaa'h wa luzoomil-jamaaa'h
Perfect this for me through lasting obedience, holding fast to the community,
وَرَفْضِ أَهْلِ الْبِدَعِ وَمُسْتَعْمِلِ الرَّأي الْمُخْتَرَعِ.
wa raf-z''i ah-lil-bidai' wa mus-taa'-mileer-raa-yil-mukh-taraa'-
and rejecting the people of religious innovation and those who act in accordance with made-up opinions!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَاجْعَلْ أَوْسَعَ رِزْقِكَ عَلَيَّ إذَا كَبُرتُ ،
waj-a'l aw-saa' riz-qika a'lay-ya id'aa kabir-t
appoint for me Your biggest provision in my old age,
وَأَقْوَى قُوَّتِكَ فِيَّ إذَا نَصِبْتُ،
wa aq-waa qoo-watika fee-ya id'aa nas'ib-t
and Your strongest strength when I am exhausted,
وَلاَ تَبْتَلِيَنّي بِالكَسَلِ عَنْ عِبَادَتِكَ
wa laa tab-taleean-nee bil-kasali a'n i'baadatik
do not test me with laziness in worship of You,
وَلا الْعَمَى عَنْ سَبِيلِكَ وَلاَ بِالتَّعَرُّضِ لِخِلاَفِ مَحَبَّتِكَ،
wa laal-a'maa a'n sabeelik wa laa bit-taa'r-ruz''i likhilaafi mah'ab-batik
blindness toward Your path, doing what goes against love for You,
وَلاَ مُجَامَعَةِ مَنْ تَفَرَّقَ عَنْكَ،
wa laa mujaamaa'ti man tafar-raqa a'nk
joining with him who has separated himself from You,
وَلا مُفَارَقَةِ مَنِ اجْتَمَعَ إلَيْكَ.
wa laa mufaaraqati mani aj-tamaa' ilay-k
and separating from him who has joined himself to You!
أللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي أصُوْلُ بِكَ عِنْدَ الضَّرُورَةِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ عِنْدَ الْحَاجَةِ،
al-laahum-ma aj-a'l-nee as'oolu bika i'ndaz''-z''aroorah wa as-aluka i'ndal-h'aajah
O God, make me run to You in times of distress, ask from You in time of need,
وَأَتَضَرَّعُ إلَيْكَ عِنْدَ الْمَسْكَنَةِ ،
wa ataz''ar-rau' ilay-ka i'ndal-mas-kanah
and plead to You in my suffering!
وَلا تَفْتِنّي بِالاسْتِعَانَةِ بِغَيْرِكَ إذَا اضْطُرِرْتُ،
wa laa taf-tin-nee biias-tia'anati bighay-rika id'aa az''-t'urir-t
Do not tempt me not to seek help from others than You when I am distressed,
وَلا بِالْخُضُوعِ لِسُؤالِ غَيْرِكَ إذَا افْتَقَـرْتُ ،
wa laa bil-khuz''ooi' lisoo-aali ghay-rika id'aa af-taqar-t
to humble myself in asking from someone else when I am poor,
وَلاَ بِـالتَّضَـرُّعِ إلَى مَنْ دُونَـكَ إذَا رَهِبْتُ
wa laa bit-taz''ar-rui' ilaa man doonaka id'aa rahib-t
or to plead with someone less than You when I fear,
فَأَسْتَحِقَّ بِذلِكَ خِذْلانَكَ
faas-tah'iq-qa bid'alika khid'-laanaka
for then I would deserve Your abandonment,
وَمَنْعَكَ وَإعْرَاضَكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.
waman-a'ka wa ia'-raaz''ak yaaa ar-h'amar-raah'imeen
Your withholding, and Your turning away, O Most Merciful of the merciful!
أللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ مَا يُلْقِي الشَّيْطَانُ فِي رَوْعِي مِنَ التَّمَنِّي وَالتَّظَنِّي وَالْحَسَـدِ
al-laahum-ma aj-a'l maa yul-qeesh-shay-t'aanu fee rooe'e minat-taman-nee wat-taz'an-nee wal-h'asad
O God, make the wishing, the doubt, and the envy which satan throws into my heart
ذِكْـراً لِعَظَمَتِكَ،
d'ik-ral-lia'z'amatik
into a reminder of Your might,
وَتَفَكُّراً فِي قُدْرَتِكَ،
wa tafak-kuran fee qud-ratik
a reflection on Your power,
وَتَدْبِيراً عَلَى عَدُوِّكَ،
wa tad-beeran a'laa a'doo-wik
and a plan against Your enemy!
وَمَا أَجْرَى عَلَى لِسَانِي مِنْ لَفْظَةِ فُحْش أَوْ هُجْر
wa maaa aj-raa a'laa lisaanee mil-laf-z'ati fuh'-shin aw haj-rin
Make everything he causes to pass over my tongue, - the indecent or ugly words,
أَوْ شَتْمِ عِرْض أَوْ شَهَادَةِ بَاطِل
aw shat-mi i'r-z''in aw shahaadati baat'ilin
the maligning of good repute, the false witness,
أو اغْتِيَابِ مُؤْمِن غَائِبِ أَوْ سَبِّ حَاضِر،
awigh-teeaabi moo-minin ghaaa-ibin aw sab-bi h'aaz''iriw-
the speaking badly of a believer who is not present, or the slandering of someone who is present,
وَمَا أَشْبَهَ ذَلِكَ نُطْقاً بِالْحَمْدِ لَكَ
wa maaa ash-baha d'alik nut'-qam-bil-h'amdi lak
and all things similar - transform them into speech in praise of You,
وَإغْرَاقاً فِي الثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْكَ،
wa igh-raaqan feeth-thanaaa-i a'lay-k
a pursuit of celebrating You,
وَذَهَاباً فِي تَمْجيدِكَ
wa d'ahaaban fee tam-jeedik
a journey in magnifying You,
وَشُكْراً لِنِعْمَتِكَ
wa shuk-ral-linia'-matik
a thanksgiving for Your favor,
وَاعْتِرَافاً بِإحْسَانِكَ
waa'-tiraafam-biih'-saanik
an acknowledgement of Your goodness,
وَإحْصَاءً لِمِنَنِكَ.
wa ih'-s'aaa-al-liminanik
and a counting of Your kindnesses!
أللّهُمَّ صَـلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِـهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَلاَ اُظْلَمَنَّ وَأَنْتَ مُطِيقٌ لِلدَّفْعِ عَنِّي،
wa laaa uz'-laman-na waanta mut'eequl-lild-daf-i' a'n-nee
do not let me be wronged while You can deflect evil from me,
وَلا أَظْلِمَنَّ وَأَنْتَ القَادِرُ عَلَى الْقَبْضِ مِنِّي،
wa laaa az'-liman-na wa antal-qaadiru a'laal-qab-z''i min-nee
do not let me do wrong while You are powerful in holding me back,
وَلاَ أَضِلَّنَّ وَقَدْ أَمْكَنَتْكَ هِدَايَتِي،
wa laaa az''il-lan-na waqad am-kanat-ka hidaayatee
do not let me be misguided while You are able to guide me,
وَلاَ أَفْتَقِرَنَّ وَمِنْ عِنْدِكَ وُسْعِي،
wa laaa af-taqiran-na wamin i'ndika wus-e'e
let me not be poor when my wealth is with You,
وَلا أَطْغَيَنَّ وَمِنْ عِنْدِكَ وُجْدِي.
wa laaa at'-ghayan-na wamin i'ndika wuj-dee
let me not be arrogant when my riches come from You!
أللَّهُمَّ إلَى مَغْفِرَتِكَ وَفَدْتُ، وَإلَى عَفْوِكَ قَصَـدْتُ،
al-laahum-ma ilaa magh-firatika wafat-t wa ilaa a'f-wika qas'at-t
O God, I come to Your forgiveness, I go straight to Your pardon,
وَإلَى تَجَـاوُزِكَ اشْتَقْتُ، وَبِفَضْلِكَ وَثِقْتُ،
wa ilaa tajaawuzika ash-taq-t wa bifaz''-lika wathiq-t
I yearn for Your forbearance, and I trust in Your bounty,
وَلَيْسَ عِنْدِي مَا يُوجِبُ لِي مَغْفِرَتَكَ،
wa lay-sa i'ndee maa yoojibu lee magh-firatak
but there is nothing with me to make me deserve Your forgiveness,
وَلاَ فِي عَمَلِي مَا أَسْتَحِقُّ بِهِ عَفْوَكَ،
wa laa fee a'malee maaa as-tah'iq-qu bihee a'f-wak
nothing in my works to make me merit Your pardon,
وَمَا لِي بَعْدَ أَنْ حَكَمْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي إلاَّ فَضْلُكَ،
wa maa lee baa'-da an h'akam-tu a'laa naf-seee il-laa faz''-luk
and nothing on my behalf after I judge my soul but Your bounty,
فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
fas'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
so bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَتَفَضَّلْ عَلَيَّ
wa tafaz''-z''al a'lay
and bestow Your bounty upon me!
أللَّهُمَّ وَأَنْطِقْنِي بِالْهُدى،
al-laahum-ma waant'iq-nee bil-hudaa
O God, make my speech into guidance,
وَأَلْهِمْنِي ألتَّقْـوَى وَوَفِّقْنِي لِلَّتِيْ هِيَ أَزْكَى
wa al-him-neet-taq-waa wa waf-fiq-nee lil-latee heea az-kaa
inspire me with reverential fear, give me success in the purest work,
وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي بِمَا هُوَ أَرْضَى.
was-taa'-mil-nee bimaa huwa ar-z''aa
and employ me in what is most pleasing to You!
أللَّهُمَّ اسْلُكْ بِيَ الطَّرِيقَـةَ الْمُثْلَى،
al-laahum-ma as-luk beeat'-t'areeqatal-muth-laa
O God, let me tread the most exemplary path,
وَاجْعَلْنِي عَلَى مِلَّتِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَى.
waj-a'l-nee a'laa mil-latika amootu wa ah'-yaa
and make me live and die in Your creed!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَمَتِّعْنِي بِالاقْتِصَادِ، وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّدَادِ،
wa mat-tia'-nee biiaq-tis'aad waj-a'l-nee min ah-lis-sadaad
give me to enjoy moderation, make me into one of the people of right behaviour,
وَمِنْ أَدِلَّةِ الرَّشَادِ، وَمِنْ صَالِحِي الْعِبَادِ،
wa min adil-latir-rashaad wa min s'aalih'eel-i'baad
the proofs of right conduct, and the servants of righteousness,
وَارْزُقْنِي فَوْزَ الْمَعَادِ، وَسَلاَمَةَ الْمِرْصَادِ.
war-zuq-nee faw-zal-maa'ad wa salaamatal-mir-s'aad
and provide me with triumph at the place of Return and safety from the Ambush!
أللَّهُمَّ خُذْ لِنَفْسِكَ مِنْ نَفْسِي مَـا يُخَلِّصُهَا،
al-laahum-ma khud' linaf-sika min-naf-see maa yukhal-lis'uhaa
O God, take to Yourself from my soul what will purify it
وَأَبْق لِنَفْسِي مِنْ نَفْسِي مَـا يُصْلِحُهَا
wa ab-qi linaf-see min-naf-see maa yus'-lih'uhaa
and leave for my soul that of my soul that will set it right,
فَإنَّ نَفْسِي هَالِكَةٌ أَوْ تَعْصِمَهَا.
fa in-na naf-see haalikatun aw taa'-s'imuhaa
for my soul will perish unless You preserve it!
أَللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ عُدَّتِي إنْ حَزِنْتُ،
al-laahum-ma anta u'd-dateee in h'azint
O God, You are my resource when I am sad,
وَأَنْتَ مُنْتَجَعِي إنْ حُرِمْتُ،
wa anta muntajae'ey in h'urim-t
You are my recourse when I am deprived,
وَبِكَ استِغَاثَتِي إنْ كَرِثْتُ،
wa bika as-tighaathateee in karith-t
from You I seek aid when I am troubled,
وَعِنْدَكَ مِمَّا فَاتَ خَلَفٌ، وَلِمَا فَسَدَ صَلاَحٌ،
wa i'ndaka mim-maa faata khalaf wa limaa fasada s'alaah'
and with You is a substitute for everything gone by, a correction for everything corrupted,
وَفِيمَا أنْكَرْتَ تَغْييرٌ.
wa feemaaa ankar-ta tagh-yeer
and a change from everything You disapprove.
فَامْنُنْ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ الْبَلاءِ بِالْعَافِيَةِ، وَقَبْلَ الطَّلَبِ بِالْجِدةِ،
fam-nun a'lay-ya qab-lal-balaaa-i bil-a'afeeah wa qab-lat'-t'alabi bil-jidah
So show kindness to me with well-being before affliction, wealth before asking,
وَقَبْلَ الضَّلاَلِ بِالرَّشَادِ، وَاكْفِنِي مَؤُونَةَ مَعَرَّةِ الْعِبَادِ،
wa qab-laz''-z''alaali bir-rashaad wak-finee maw-unata maa'r-ratil-i'baad
right conduct before misguidance; suffice me against the burden of shame toward the servants,
وَقَبْلَ الضَّلاَلِ بِالرَّشَادِ، وَاكْفِنِي مَؤُونَةَ مَعَرَّةِ الْعِبَادِ،
wa qab-laz''-z''alaali bir-rashaad wak-finee maw-unata maa'r-ratil-i'baad
right conduct before misguidance; be sufficient for me against the burden of shame toward servants.
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّـد وَآلِـهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَادْرَأ عَنّي بِلُطْفِـكَ، وَاغْـذُنِي بِنِعْمَتِكَ،
wad-raa a'n-nee bilut'-fik wagh-d'unee binia'-matik
repel evil from me through Your gentleness, feed me through Your favor,
وَأَصْلِحْنِي بِكَرَمِـكَ، وَدَاوِنِي بصُنْعِـكَ،
wa as'-lih'-nee bikaramik wa daawinee bis'un-i'k
set me right through Your generosity, heal me through Your benefaction,
وَأَظِلَّنِيْ فِي ذَرَاكَ، وجَلِّلْنِي رِضَـاكَ،
wa az'il-lanee fee d'araak wa jal-lil-nee riz''aak
shade me in Your shelter, wrap me in Your good pleasure,
وَوَفِّقنِي إذَا اشْتَكَلَتْ عَلَيَّ الأمُـورُ لأِهْدَاهَـا،
wa waf-fiq-nee id'aa ash-takalat a'lay-yal-umooru liah-daahaa
and give me success to reach the most guided of affairs when things confuse me,
وَإذَا تَشَابَهَتِ الأعْمَالُ لأزْكَاهَا،
wa id'aa tashaabahatil-aa'-maalu liaz-kaahaa
the purest of works when all deeds look alike,
وَإذَا تَنَاقَضَتِ الْمِلَلُ لأِرْضَاهَا.
wa id'aa tanaaqaz''atil-milalu liar-z''aahaa
and the most pleasing to You of religious beliefs, when beliefs conflict!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَتَوِّجْنِي بِالْكِفَايَةِ، وَسُمْنِي حُسْنَ الْوِلايَةِ،
wa taw-wij-nee bil-kifaayah wa sum-nee h'us-nal-walaayah
crown me with sufficiency, place in me excellent guardianship,
وَهَبْ لِيْ صِدْقَ الْهِدَايَةِ، وَلا تَفْتِنِّي بِالسَّعَةِ،
wa hab lee s'id-qal-hidaayah wa laa taf-tin-nee bis-saa'h
give me to guide correctly, tempt me not with plenty,
وَامْنَحْنِي حُسْنَ الدَّعَةِ، وَلا تَجْعَلْ عَيْشِي كَدّاً كَدّاً،
wam-nah'-nee h'us-nad-daa'h wa laa taj-a'l a'y-shee kad-dan kad-daa
grant me excellent ease, make not my life toil and trouble,
وَلاَ تَرُدَّ دُعَائِي عَلَيَّ رَدّاً
wa laa tarud-da dua'aa-ee a'lay-ya rad-daa
and refuse not my supplication in rejection,
فَإنِّي لا أَجْعَلُ لَكَ ضِدّاً وَلا أَدْعُو مَعَكَ نِدّاً.
fa in-nee laaa aj-a'lu laka z''id-daa wa laaa ad-u'w maa'ka nid-daa
for I make no one into a rival to You, and I petition no one as if they were equal to You!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّـد وَآلِـهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَامْنَعْنِي مِنَ السَّرَفِ وَحَصِّنْ رِزْقِي مِنَ التَّلَفِ،
wam-naa'-nee minas-saraf wa h'as'-s'ir-riz-qee minat-talaf
hold me back from prodigality, fortify my provision against ruin,
وَوَفِّرْ مَلَكَتِي بِالْبَرَكَةِ فِيهِ،
wa waf-fir malakatee bil-barakati feeh
increase my possessions through blessing them,
وَأَصِبْ بِي سَبِيلَ الْهِدَايَةِ لِلْبِرِّ فِيمَا اُنْفِقُ مِنْهُ.
wa as'ib bee sabeelal-hidaayati lil-bir-ri feemaaa unfiqu min-h
and set me upon the path of guidance, through piety in what I spend!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَاكْفِنِي مَؤُونَةَ الاكْتِسَابِ،
wak-finee maw-oonatalik-tisaab
spare me the burden of earning,
وَارْزُقْنِي مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِسَاب،
war-zuq-nee min ghay-ri ah'-tisaab
and provide for me without reckoning,
فَلاَ أَشْتَغِلَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِكَ بِالطَّلَبِ
falaaa ash-taghila a'n i'baadatika bit'-t'alab
otherwise I might be distracted from Your worship through seeking
وَلا أَحْتَمِلَ إصْرَ تَبِعَاتِ الْمَكْسَبِ.
wa laaa ah'-tamila is'-ra tabia'atil-mak-sab
and carrying the burden of earning's bad results!
أللَّهُمَّ فَأَطْلِبْنِي بِقُدْرَتِكَ مَا أَطْلُبُ،
al-laahum-ma faat'-lib-nee biqud-ratika maaa at'-lub
O God, bestow upon me what I seek through Your power,
وَأَجِرْنِي بِعِزَّتِكَ مِمَّا أَرْهَبُ.
wa ajir-nee bii'z-zatika mim-maaa ar-hab
and grant me sanctuary from what I fear through Your might!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ وَصُنْ وَجْهِي بِالْيَسَارِ،
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih wa s'oo-waj-hee bil-yasaar
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household, save my face through ease,
وَلاَ تَبْتَذِلْ جَاهِي بِالإقْتارِ فَأَسْتَرْزِقَ أَهْلَ رِزْقِكَ،
wa laa tab-tad'il jaahee bil-iq-taar faas-tar-ziqa ah-la riz-qik
and do not lower not my dignity through neediness, otherwise I might seek provision from those whom You have provided
وَأَسْتَعْطِيَ شِرَارَ خَلْقِكَ، فَأفْتَتِنَ بِحَمْدِ مَنْ أَعْطَانِي،
wa as-taa'-t'eea shiraara khal-qik faaf-tatina bih'am-di man aa'-t'aanee
and ask for gifts from the worst of Your creatures! Then I would be tried by praising him who gave to me,
وَاُبْتَلَى بِـذَمِّ مَنْ مَنَعَنِي وَأَنْتَ مِنْ دُونِهِمْ وَلِيُّ الإعْطَاءِ وَالْمَنْعِ.
wa ub-talaa bid'am-mi mam-manaa'nee wa anta min doonihim walee-yul-ia'-t'aaa-i wal-man-i'
and afflicted with blaming him who held back from me, while You - not they - are the patron of giving and holding back.
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِـةِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَارْزُقْنِي صِحَّةً فِيْ عِبَادَة،
war-zuq-nee s'ih'-h'atan fee i'baadah
and provide me with soundness in worship,
وَفَراغاً فِي زَهَادَة،
wa faraaghan fee zahaadah
detachment in renunciation,
وَعِلْماً فِي اسْتِعمَـال، وَوَرَعـاً فِي إجْمَال.
wa i'l-mana fis-tia'-maal wa waraa'na feee ij-maal
knowledge put into action, and abstinence in moderation!
أللَّهُمَّ اخْتِمْ بِعَفْوِكَ أَجَلي،
al-laahum-ma akh-tim bia'f-wika ajalee
O God, seal my time of living with Your pardon,
وَحَقِّقْ فِي رَجَاءِ رَحْمَتِكَ أَمَلِي،
wa h'aq-qiq fee rajaaa-i rah'-matika amalee
verify my expectation in hoping for Your mercy,
وَسَهِّلْ إلَى بُلُوغِ رِضَاكَ سُبُلِي،
wa sah-hil ilaa bulooghi riz''aaka subulee
smooth my paths to reach Your good pleasure,
وَحَسِّن فِي جَمِيعِ أَحْوَالِيْ عَمَلِي.
wa h'as-sin fee jameei' ah'-waalee a'malee
and make my works good in all of my conditions!
أللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalih
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
وَنَبِّهْنِي لِذِكْرِكَ فِي أَوْقَاتِ الْغَفْلَةِ،
wa nab-bih-nee lid'ik-rika feee aw-qaatil-ghaf-lah
incite me to remember You in times of thoughtlessness,
وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي بِطَاعَتِـكَ فِي أَيَّامِ الْمُهْلَةِ،
was-taa'-mil-nee bit'aaa'tika feee ay-yaamil-muh-lah
employ me in Your obedience in days of disregard,
وَانْهَجْ لِي إلى مَحَبَّتِكَ سَبيلاً سَهْلَةً
wan-haj leee ilaa mah'ab-batika sabeelana sah-lah
open a smooth road for me to Your love,
أكْمِلْ لِي بِهَا خَيْرَ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِـرَةِ.
ak-mil-lee bihaa khay-rad-dunyaa wal-aaakhirah
and complete for me the good of this world and the next.
أللَّهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ
al-laahum-ma wa s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee
O God, bless Muhammad and his Household,
كَأَفْضَلِ مَـا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى أَحَد مِنْ خَلْقِكَ قَبْلَهُ،
kaaf-z''ali maa s'al-lay-ta a'laaa ah'adim-min khal-qika qab-lahoo
the best You have blessed, of any of Your creatures before him,
وَأَنْتَ مُصَلٍّ عَلَى أَحَد بَعْدَهُ،
wa anta mus'al-lin a'laaa ah'adim-baa'-dah
and any of your creatures after him,
وَآتِنا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً ،
wa aaatinaa fid-dunyaa h'asanataw-wa fil-aaakhirati h'asanah
and "give good to us in this world, and good in the next world" (2:201),
وَقِنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ عَذَابَ النَّارِ.
wa qinee birah'-matika a'd'aaban-naar
and protect me through Your mercy "from the torment of the Fire" (2:201)!
