Surah Al-Muminoon

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 23:1

   قَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ﴿١﴾

   qad ˈaflaḥa l-muˈminūna

   Certainly, the faithful have attained salvation

2. 23:2

   ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى صَلَاتِهِمْ خَـٰشِعُونَ﴿٢﴾

   allaḏīna hum fī ṣālātihim ḫāšiʿūna

   —those who are humble in their prayers,

3. 23:3

   وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ ٱللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ﴿٣﴾

   wa-llaḏīna hum ʿani l-laġwi muʿriḍūna

   avoid vain talk,

4. 23:4

   وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَـٰعِلُونَ﴿٤﴾

   wa-llaḏīna hum li-z-zakāti fāʿilūna

   carry out their [duty of] zakat,

5. 23:5

   وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ﴿٥﴾

   wa-llaḏīna hum li-furūǧihim ḥāfiẓūna

   guard their private parts,

6. 23:6

   إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ﴿٦﴾

   ˈillā ʿalā ˈazwāǧihim ˈaw mā malakat ˈaymānuhum fa-ˈinnahum ġayru malūmīna

   (except from their spouses or their slave women, for then they are not blameworthy;

7. 23:7

   فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ﴿٧﴾

   fa-mani btaġā warāˈa ḏālika fa-ˈulāˈika humu l-ʿādūna

   but whoever seeks [anything] beyond that—it is they who are transgressors),

8. 23:8

   وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ﴿٨﴾

   wa-llaḏīna hum li-ˈamānātihim wa-ʿahdihim rāʿūna

   and those who keep their trusts and covenants

9. 23:9

   وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٰتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ﴿٩﴾

   wa-llaḏīna hum ʿalā ṣalawātihim yuḥāfiẓūna

   and are watchful of their prayers.

10. 23:10

    أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ﴿١٠﴾

    ˈulāˈika humu l-wāriṯūna

    It is they who will be the inheritors,

11. 23:11

    ٱلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ ٱلْفِرْدَوْسَ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ﴿١١﴾

    allaḏīna yariṯūna l-firdawsa hum fīhā ḫālidūna

    who shall inherit paradise and will remain in it [forever].

12. 23:12

    وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن سُلَـٰلَةٍ مِّن طِينٍ﴿١٢﴾

    wa-la-qad ḫalaqnā l-ˈinsāna min sulālatin min ṭīnin

    Certainly We created man from an extract of clay.

13. 23:13

    ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ نُطْفَةً فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ﴿١٣﴾

    ṯumma ǧaʿalnāhu nuṭfatan fī qarārin makīnin

    Then We made him a drop of [seminal] fluid [lodged] in a secure abode.

14. 23:14

    ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا ٱلنُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا ٱلْمُضْغَةَ عِظَـٰمًا فَكَسَوْنَا ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ لَحْمًا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُ خَلْقًا ءَاخَرَ ۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ﴿١٤﴾

    ṯumma ḫalaqnā n-nuṭfata ʿalaqatan fa-ḫalaqnā l-ʿalaqata muḍġatan fa-ḫalaqnā l-muḍġata ʿiẓāman fa-kasawnā l-ʿiẓāma laḥman ṯumma ˈanšaˈnāhu ḫalqan ˈāḫara fa-tabāraka llāhu ˈaḥsanu l-ḫāliqīna

    Then We created the drop of fluid as a clinging mass. Then We created the clinging mass as a fleshy tissue. Then We created the fleshy tissue as bones. Then We clothed the bones with flesh. Then We produced him as [yet] another creature. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators!

15. 23:15

    ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ﴿١٥﴾

    ṯumma ˈinnakum baʿda ḏālika la-mayyitūna

    Then indeed you die after that.

16. 23:16

    ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ تُبْعَثُونَ﴿١٦﴾

    ṯumma ˈinnakum yawma l-qiyāmati tubʿaṯūna

    Then you will indeed be raised up on the Day of Resurrection.

17. 23:17

    وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلْخَلْقِ غَـٰفِلِينَ﴿١٧﴾

    wa-la-qad ḫalaqnā fawqakum sabʿa ṭarāˈiqa wa-mā kunnā ʿani l-ḫalqi ġāfilīna

    Certainly We created above you seven levels and We have not been oblivious of the creation.

18. 23:18

    وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۢ بِقَدَرٍ فَأَسْكَنَّـٰهُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابٍۭ بِهِۦ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ﴿١٨﴾

    wa-ˈanzalnā mina s-samāˈi māˈan bi-qadarin fa-ˈaskannāhu fī l-ˈarḍi wa-ˈinnā ʿalā ḏahābin bihī la-qādirūna

    We sent down water from the sky in a measured manner, and We lodged it within the ground, and We are indeed able to take it away.

19. 23:19

    فَأَنشَأْنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٍ مِّن نَّخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَـٰبٍ لَّكُمْ فِيهَا فَوَٰكِهُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴿١٩﴾

    fa-ˈanšaˈnā lakum bihī ǧannātin min naḫīlin wa-ˈaʿnābin lakum fīhā fawākihu kaṯīratun wa-minhā taˈkulūna

    Then with it We produced for you gardens of date palms and vines. There are abundant fruits in them for you, and you eat from them,

20. 23:20

    وَشَجَرَةً تَخْرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيْنَآءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهْنِ وَصِبْغٍ لِّلْـَٔاكِلِينَ﴿٢٠﴾

    wa-šaǧaratan taḫruǧu min ṭūri saynāˈa tanbutu bi-d-duhni wa-ṣibġin li-l-ˈākilīna

    and a tree that grows on Mount Sinai, which produces oil and a seasoning for those who eat.

21. 23:21

    وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ لَعِبْرَةً ۖ نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ كَثِيرَةٌ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴿٢١﴾

    wa-ˈinna lakum fī l-ˈanʿāmi la-ʿibratan nusqīkum mimmā fī buṭūnihā wa-lakum fīhā manāfiʿu kaṯīratun wa-minhā taˈkulūna

    There is indeed a moral for you in the cattle: We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and you have many uses in them, and you eat some of them,

22. 23:22

    وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ﴿٢٢﴾

    wa-ʿalayhā wa-ʿalā l-fulki tuḥmalūna

    and you are carried on them and on ships.

23. 23:23

    وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَقَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ﴿٢٣﴾

    wa-la-qad ˈarsalnā nūḥan ˈilā qawmihī fa-qāla yā-qawmi ʿbudū llāha mā lakum min ˈilāhin ġayruhū ˈa-fa-lā tattaqūna

    Certainly We sent Noah to his people, and he said, ‘O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other god besides Him. Will you not then be wary [of Him]?’

24. 23:24

    فَقَالَ ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِىٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿٢٤﴾

    fa-qāla l-malaˈu llaḏīna kafarū min qawmihī mā hāḏā ˈillā bašarun miṯlukum yurīdu ˈan yatafaḍḍala ʿalaykum wa-law šāˈa llāhu la-ˈanzala malāˈikatan mā samiʿnā bi-hāḏā fī ˈābāˈinā l-ˈawwalīna

    But the elite of the faithless from among his people said, ‘This is just a human being like you, who seeks to dominate you. Had Allah wished, He would have sent down angels. We never heard of such a thing among our forefathers.

25. 23:25

    إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌۢ بِهِۦ جِنَّةٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ﴿٢٥﴾

    ˈin huwa ˈillā raǧulun bihī ǧinnatun fa-tarabbaṣū bihī ḥattā ḥīnin

    He is just a man possessed by madness. So bear with him for a while.’

26. 23:26

    قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرْنِى بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ﴿٢٦﴾

    qāla rabbi nṣurnī bi-mā kaḏḏabūni

    He said, ‘My Lord! Help me, for they impugn me.’

27. 23:27

    فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ أَنِ ٱصْنَعِ ٱلْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ ۙ فَٱسْلُكْ فِيهَا مِن كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْقَوْلُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تُخَـٰطِبْنِى فِى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ ۖ إِنَّهُم مُّغْرَقُونَ﴿٢٧﴾

    fa-ˈawḥaynā ˈilayhi ˈani ṣnaʿi l-fulka bi-ˈaʿyuninā wa-waḥyinā fa-ˈiḏā ǧāˈa ˈamrunā wa-fāra t-tannūru fa-sluk fīhā min kullin zawǧayni ṯnayni wa-ˈahlaka ˈillā man sabaqa ʿalayhi l-qawlu minhum wa-lā tuḫāṭibnī fī llaḏīna ẓalamū ˈinnahum muġraqūna

    So We revealed to him: ‘Build the ark before Our eyes and by Our revelation. When Our edict comes and the oven gushes [a stream of water], bring into it a pair of every kind [of animal], and your family, except those of them against whom the decree has gone beforehand, and do not plead with Me for those who are wrongdoers: they shall indeed be drowned.’

28. 23:28

    فَإِذَا ٱسْتَوَيْتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ فَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى نَجَّىٰنَا مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ﴿٢٨﴾

    fa-ˈiḏā stawayta ˈanta wa-man maʿaka ʿalā l-fulki fa-quli l-ḥamdu li-llāhi llaḏī naǧǧānā mina l-qawmi ẓ-ẓālimīna

    ‘When you, and those who are with you, are settled in the ark, say, ‘‘All praise belongs to Allah, who has delivered us from the wrongdoing lot.’’

29. 23:29

    وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلْنِى مُنزَلًا مُّبَارَكًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْمُنزِلِينَ﴿٢٩﴾

    wa-qul rabbi ˈanzilnī munzalan mubārakan wa-ˈanta ḫayru l-munzilīna

    And say, ‘‘My Lord! Land me with a blessed landing, for You are the best of those who bring ashore.’’ ’

30. 23:30

    إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبْتَلِينَ﴿٣٠﴾

    ˈinna fī ḏālika la-ˈāyātin wa-ˈin kunnā la-mubtalīna

    There are indeed signs in this; and indeed, We have been testing.

31. 23:31

    ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ﴿٣١﴾

    ṯumma ˈanšaˈnā min baʿdihim qarnan ˈāḫarīna

    Then after them We brought forth another generation,

32. 23:32

    فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓ ۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ﴿٣٢﴾

    fa-ˈarsalnā fīhim rasūlan minhum ˈani ʿbudū llāha mā lakum min ˈilāhin ġayruhū ˈa-fa-lā tattaqūna

    and We sent them an apostle from among themselves, saying, ‘Worship Allah! You have no other god besides Him. Will you not then be wary [of Him]?’

33. 23:33

    وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَتْرَفْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا مَا هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ مِنْهُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُونَ﴿٣٣﴾

    wa-qāla l-malaˈu min qawmihi llaḏīna kafarū wa-kaḏḏabū bi-liqāˈi l-ˈāḫirati wa-ˈatrafnāhum fī l-ḥayāti d-dunyā mā hāḏā ˈillā bašarun miṯlukum yaˈkulu mimmā taˈkulūna minhu wa-yašrabu mimmā tašrabūna

    Said the elite of his people, who were faithless and who denied the encounter of the Hereafter and whom We had given affluence in the life of the world: ‘This is just a human being like yourselves: he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink.

34. 23:34

    وَلَئِنْ أَطَعْتُم بَشَرًا مِّثْلَكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَـٰسِرُونَ﴿٣٤﴾

    wa-la-ˈin ˈaṭaʿtum bašaran miṯlakum ˈinnakum ˈiḏan la-ḫāsirūna

    If you obey a human being like yourselves, you will indeed be losers.

35. 23:35

    أَيَعِدُكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ إِذَا مِتُّمْ وَكُنتُمْ تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخْرَجُونَ﴿٣٥﴾

    ˈa-yaʿidukum ˈannakum ˈiḏā mittum wa-kuntum turāban wa-ʿiẓāman ˈannakum muḫraǧūna

    Does he promise you that when you have died and become bones and dust you will indeed be raised [from the dead]?

36. 23:36

    هَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ﴿٣٦﴾

    hayhāta hayhāta li-mā tūʿadūna

    Far-fetched, far-fetched is what you are promised!

37. 23:37

    إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ﴿٣٧﴾

    ˈin hiya ˈillā ḥayātunā d-dunyā namūtu wa-naḥyā wa-mā naḥnu bi-mabʿūṯīna

    There is nothing but the life of this world: we live and die, and we will not be resurrected.

38. 23:38

    إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿٣٨﴾

    ˈin huwa ˈillā raǧulun-i ftarā ʿalā llāhi kaḏiban wa-mā naḥnu lahū bi-muˈminīna

    He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we will not believe in him.’

39. 23:39

    قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرْنِى بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ﴿٣٩﴾

    qāla rabbi nṣurnī bi-mā kaḏḏabūni

    He said, ‘My Lord! Help me, for they impugn me.’

40. 23:40

    قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ لَّيُصْبِحُنَّ نَـٰدِمِينَ﴿٤٠﴾

    qāla ʿammā qalīlin la-yuṣbiḥunna nādimīna

    Said He, ‘In a little while they will become regretful.’

41. 23:41

    فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ غُثَآءً ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ﴿٤١﴾

    fa-ˈaḫaḏathumu ṣ-ṣayḥatu bi-l-ḥaqqi fa-ǧaʿalnāhum ġuṯāˈan fa-buʿdan li-l-qawmi ẓ-ẓālimīna

    So the Cry seized them justly and We turned them into a scum. So away with the wrongdoing lot!

42. 23:42

    ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِينَ﴿٤٢﴾

    ṯumma ˈanšaˈnā min baʿdihim qurūnan ˈāḫarīna

    Then after them We brought forth other generations.

43. 23:43

    مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ﴿٤٣﴾

    mā tasbiqu min ˈummatin ˈaǧalahā wa-mā yastaˈḫirūna

    No nation can advance its time nor can it defer it.

44. 23:44

    ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَا ۖ كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ أُمَّةً رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ ۚ فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُم بَعْضًا وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّقَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿٤٤﴾

    ṯumma ˈarsalnā rusulanā tatrā kulla mā ǧāˈa ˈummatan rasūluhā kaḏḏabūhu fa-ˈatbaʿnā baʿḍahum baʿḍan wa-ǧaʿalnāhum ˈaḥādīṯa fa-buʿdan li-qawmin lā yuˈminūna

    Then We sent Our apostles successively. Whenever there came to a nation its apostle, they impugned him, so We made them follow one another [to extinction] and We turned them into folktales. So away with the faithless lot!

45. 23:45

    ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ﴿٤٥﴾

    ṯumma ˈarsalnā mūsā wa-ˈaḫāhu hārūna bi-ˈāyātinā wa-sulṭānin mubīnin

    Then We sent Moses and Aaron, his brother, with Our signs and a manifest authority

46. 23:46

    إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا عَالِينَ﴿٤٦﴾

    ˈilā firʿawna wa-malaˈihī fa-stakbarū wa-kānū qawman ʿālīna

    to Pharaoh and his elites; but they acted arrogantly and they were a tyrannical lot.

47. 23:47

    فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَـٰبِدُونَ﴿٤٧﴾

    fa-qālū ˈa-nuˈminu li-bašarayni miṯlinā wa-qawmuhumā lanā ʿābidūna

    They said, ‘Shall we believe two humans like ourselves, while their people are our slaves?’

48. 23:48

    فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُهْلَكِينَ﴿٤٨﴾

    fa-kaḏḏabūhumā fa-kānū mina l-muhlakīna

    So they impugned the two of them, whereat they were among those who were destroyed.

49. 23:49

    وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ﴿٤٩﴾

    wa-la-qad ˈātaynā mūsā l-kitāba laʿallahum yahtadūna

    Certainly We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided,

50. 23:50

    وَجَعَلْنَا ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةً وَءَاوَيْنَـٰهُمَآ إِلَىٰ رَبْوَةٍ ذَاتِ قَرَارٍ وَمَعِينٍ﴿٥٠﴾

    wa-ǧaʿalnā bna maryama wa-ˈummahū ˈāyatan wa-ˈāwaynāhumā ˈilā rabwatin ḏāti qarārin wa-maʿīnin

    and We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and sheltered them in a level highland with flowing water.

51. 23:51

    يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرُّسُلُ كُلُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ وَٱعْمَلُوا۟ صَـٰلِحًا ۖ إِنِّى بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ﴿٥١﴾

    yā-ˈayyuhā r-rusulu kulū mina ṭ-ṭayyibāti wa-ʿmalū ṣāliḥan ˈinnī bi-mā taʿmalūna ʿalīmun

    O apostles! Eat of the good things and act righteously. Indeed I know best what you do.

52. 23:52

    وَإِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱتَّقُونِ﴿٥٢﴾

    wa-ˈinna hāḏihī ˈummatukum ˈummatan wāḥidatan wa-ˈana rabbukum fa-ttaqūni

    Indeed this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord, so be wary of Me.

53. 23:53

    فَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ زُبُرًا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍۭ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ﴿٥٣﴾

    fa-taqaṭṭaʿū ˈamrahum baynahum zuburan kullu ḥizbin bi-mā ladayhim fariḥūna

    But they fragmented their religion among themselves, each party boasting about what it had.

54. 23:54

    فَذَرْهُمْ فِى غَمْرَتِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ﴿٥٤﴾

    fa-ḏarhum fī ġamratihim ḥattā ḥīnin

    So leave them in their stupor for a while.

55. 23:55

    أَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِۦ مِن مَّالٍ وَبَنِينَ﴿٥٥﴾

    ˈa-yaḥsabūna ˈannamā numidduhum bihī min mālin wa-banīna

    Do they suppose that whatever aid We provide them in regard to wealth and children [is because]

56. 23:56

    نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚ بَل لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ﴿٥٦﴾

    nusāriʿu lahum fī l-ḫayrāti bal lā yašʿurūna

    We are eager to bring them good? No, they are not aware!

57. 23:57

    إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ﴿٥٧﴾

    ˈinna llaḏīna hum min ḫašyati rabbihim mušfiqūna

    Indeed those who are apprehensive for the fear of their Lord,

58. 23:58

    وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿٥٨﴾

    wa-llaḏīna hum bi-ˈāyāti rabbihim yuˈminūna

    and believe in the signs of their Lord,

59. 23:59

    وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمْ لَا يُشْرِكُونَ﴿٥٩﴾

    wa-llaḏīna hum bi-rabbihim lā yušrikūna

    and do not ascribe partners to their Lord;

60. 23:60

    وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَآ ءَاتَوا۟ وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ رَٰجِعُونَ﴿٦٠﴾

    wa-llaḏīna yuˈtūna mā ˈātaw wa-qulūbuhum waǧilatun ˈannahum ˈilā rabbihim rāǧiʿūna

    who give whatever they give while their hearts tremble with awe that they are going to return to their Lord

61. 23:61

    أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَهُمْ لَهَا سَـٰبِقُونَ﴿٦١﴾

    ˈulāˈika yusāriʿūna fī l-ḫayrāti wa-hum lahā sābiqūna

    —it is they who are zealous in [performing] good works and take the lead in them.

62. 23:62

    وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۖ وَلَدَيْنَا كِتَـٰبٌ يَنطِقُ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ﴿٦٢﴾

    wa-lā nukallifu nafsan ˈillā wusʿahā wa-ladaynā kitābun yanṭiqu bi-l-ḥaqqi wa-hum lā yuẓlamūna

    We task no soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged.

63. 23:63

    بَلْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْمَـٰلٌ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمْ لَهَا عَـٰمِلُونَ﴿٦٣﴾

    bal qulūbuhum fī ġamratin min hāḏā wa-lahum ˈaʿmālun min dūni ḏālika hum lahā ʿāmilūna

    Indeed, their hearts are in a stupor in regard to this, and there are other deeds besides which they perpetrate.

64. 23:64

    حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذْنَا مُتْرَفِيهِم بِٱلْعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمْ يَجْـَٔرُونَ﴿٦٤﴾

    ḥattā ˈiḏā ˈaḫaḏnā mutrafīhim bi-l-ʿaḏābi ˈiḏā hum yaǧˈarūna

    When We seize their affluent ones with punishment, behold, they make entreaties [to Us].

65. 23:65

    لَا تَجْـَٔرُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ ۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ﴿٦٥﴾

    lā taǧˈarū l-yawma ˈinnakum minnā lā tunṣarūna

    ‘Do not make entreaties today! Indeed, you will not receive any help from Us.

66. 23:66

    قَدْ كَانَتْ ءَايَـٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ تَنكِصُونَ﴿٦٦﴾

    qad kānat ˈāyātī tutlā ʿalaykum fa-kuntum ʿalā ˈaʿqābikum tankiṣūna

    Certainly My signs used to be recited to you, but you used to take to your heels,

67. 23:67

    مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَـٰمِرًا تَهْجُرُونَ﴿٦٧﴾

    mustakbirīna bihī sāmiran tahǧurūna

    being disdainful of it, talking nonsense in your nightly sessions.’

68. 23:68

    أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُوا۟ ٱلْقَوْلَ أَمْ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمْ يَأْتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿٦٨﴾

    ˈa-fa-lam yaddabbarū l-qawla ˈam ǧāˈahum mā lam yaˈti ˈābāˈahumu l-ˈawwalīna

    Have they not contemplated the Discourse, or has anything come to them [in it] that did not come to their forefathers?

69. 23:69

    أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوا۟ رَسُولَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ﴿٦٩﴾

    ˈam lam yaʿrifū rasūlahum fa-hum lahū munkirūna

    Is it that they do not recognize their apostle, and so they deny him?

70. 23:70

    أَمْ يَقُولُونَ بِهِۦ جِنَّةٌۢ ۚ بَلْ جَآءَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَـٰرِهُونَ﴿٧٠﴾

    ˈam yaqūlūna bihī ǧinnatun bal ǧāˈahum bi-l-ḥaqqi wa-ˈakṯaruhum li-l-ḥaqqi kārihūna

    Do they say, ‘There is madness in him’? No, he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse to the truth.

71. 23:71

    وَلَوِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلْحَقُّ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ ۚ بَلْ أَتَيْنَـٰهُم بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَن ذِكْرِهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ﴿٧١﴾

    wa-lawi ttabaʿa l-ḥaqqu ˈahwāˈahum la-fasadati s-samāwātu wa-l-ˈarḍu wa-man fīhinna bal ˈataynāhum bi-ḏikrihim fa-hum ʿan ḏikrihim muʿriḍūna

    Had the truth followed their desires, the heavens and the earth would have surely fallen apart [along] with those who are in them. Indeed, We have brought them their Reminder, but they are disregardful of their Reminder.

72. 23:72

    أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ خَرْجًا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ﴿٧٢﴾

    ˈam tasˈaluhum ḫarǧan fa-ḫarāǧu rabbika ḫayrun wa-huwa ḫayru r-rāziqīna

    Do you ask a recompense from them? Your Lord’s recompense is better, and He is the best of providers.

73. 23:73

    وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ﴿٧٣﴾

    wa-ˈinnaka la-tadʿūhum ˈilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin

    Indeed you invite them to a straight path,

74. 23:74

    وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَنِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ لَنَـٰكِبُونَ﴿٧٤﴾

    wa-ˈinna llaḏīna lā yuˈminūna bi-l-ˈāḫirati ʿani ṣ-ṣirāṭi la-nākibūna

    and those who do not believe in the Hereafter surely deviate from the path.

75. 23:75

    وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَـٰهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرٍّ لَّلَجُّوا۟ فِى طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ﴿٧٥﴾

    wa-law raḥimnāhum wa-kašafnā mā bihim min ḍurrin la-laǧǧū fī ṭuġyānihim yaʿmahūna

    Should We have mercy upon them and remove their distress, they would surely persist, bewildered in their rebellion.

76. 23:76

    وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْعَذَابِ فَمَا ٱسْتَكَانُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ﴿٧٦﴾

    wa-la-qad ˈaḫaḏnāhum bi-l-ʿaḏābi fa-mā stakānū li-rabbihim wa-mā yataḍarraʿūna

    We have already seized them with punishment, yet they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor will they entreat [Him for mercy]

77. 23:77

    حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَابًا ذَا عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ إِذَا هُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ﴿٧٧﴾

    ḥattā ˈiḏā fataḥnā ʿalayhim bāban ḏā ʿaḏābin šadīdin ˈiḏā hum fīhi mublisūna

    until We open on them the gate of a severe punishment, whereupon they will be despondent in it.

78. 23:78

    وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ﴿٧٨﴾

    wa-huwa llaḏī ˈanšaˈa lakumu s-samʿa wa-l-ˈabṣāra wa-l-ˈafˈidata qalīlan mā taškurūna

    It is He who made for you hearing, eyesight, and hearts. Little do you thank.

79. 23:79

    وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ﴿٧٩﴾

    wa-huwa llaḏī ḏaraˈakum fī l-ˈarḍi wa-ˈilayhi tuḥšarūna

    It is He who created you on the earth, and you will be mustered toward Him.

80. 23:80

    وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ ٱخْتِلَـٰفُ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ﴿٨٠﴾

    wa-huwa llaḏī yuḥyī wa-yumītu wa-lahu ḫtilāfu l-layli wa-n-nahāri ˈa-fa-lā taʿqilūna

    And it is He who gives life and brings death, and due to Him is the alternation of day and night. Do you not exercise your reason?

81. 23:81

    بَلْ قَالُوا۟ مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ﴿٨١﴾

    bal qālū miṯla mā qāla l-ˈawwalūna

    Indeed, they say, just like what the former peoples said.

82. 23:82

    قَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ﴿٨٢﴾

    qālū ˈa-ˈiḏā mitnā wa-kunnā turāban wa-ʿiẓāman ˈa-ˈinnā la-mabʿūṯūna

    They said, ‘What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected?

83. 23:83

    لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا هَـٰذَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿٨٣﴾

    la-qad wuʿidnā naḥnu wa-ˈābāˈunā hāḏā min qablu ˈin hāḏā ˈillā ˈasāṭīru l-ˈawwalīna

    Certainly, we and our fathers were promised this before. [But] these are nothing but myths of the ancients.’

84. 23:84

    قُل لِّمَنِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿٨٤﴾

    qul li-mani l-ˈarḍu wa-man fīhā ˈin kuntum taʿlamūna

    Say, ‘To whom does the earth belong and whoever it contains, if you know?’

85. 23:85

    سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ﴿٨٥﴾

    sa-yaqūlūna li-llāhi qul ˈa-fa-lā taḏakkarūna

    They will say, ‘To Allah.’ Say, ‘Will you not then take admonition?’

86. 23:86

    قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ ٱلسَّبْعِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ﴿٨٦﴾

    qul man rabbu s-samāwāti s-sabʿi wa-rabbu l-ʿarši l-ʿaẓīmi

    Say, ‘Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Great Throne?’

87. 23:87

    سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ﴿٨٧﴾

    sa-yaqūlūna li-llāhi qul ˈa-fa-lā tattaqūna

    They will say, ‘[They belong] to Allah.’ Say, ‘Will you not then be wary [of Him]?’

88. 23:88

    قُلْ مَنۢ بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ يُجِيرُ وَلَا يُجَارُ عَلَيْهِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿٨٨﴾

    qul man bi-yadihī malakūtu kulli šayˈin wa-huwa yuǧīru wa-lā yuǧāru ʿalayhi ˈin kuntum taʿlamūna

    Say, ‘In whose hand is the dominion of all things, and who gives shelter and no shelter can be provided from Him, if you know?’

89. 23:89

    سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِ ۚ قُلْ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسْحَرُونَ﴿٨٩﴾

    sa-yaqūlūna li-llāhi qul fa-ˈannā tusḥarūna

    They will say, ‘[They all belong] to Allah.’ Say, ‘Then how are you so deluded?’

90. 23:90

    بَلْ أَتَيْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ﴿٩٠﴾

    bal ˈataynāhum bi-l-ḥaqqi wa-ˈinnahum la-kāḏibūna

    Indeed, We have brought them the truth, and they are indeed liars.

91. 23:91

    مَا ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٍ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ ۚ إِذًا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَـٰهٍۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ﴿٩١﴾

    mā ttaḫaḏa llāhu min waladin wa-mā kāna maʿahū min ˈilāhin ˈiḏan la-ḏahaba kullu ˈilāhin bi-mā ḫalaqa wa-la-ʿalā baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin subḥāna llāhi ʿammā yaṣifūna

    Allah has not taken any offspring, neither is there any god besides Him, for then each god would take away what he created, and some of them would surely rise up against others. Clear is Allah of what they allege!

92. 23:92

    عَـٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ فَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ﴿٩٢﴾

    ʿālimi l-ġaybi wa-š-šahādati fa-taʿālā ʿammā yušrikūna

    The Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, He is above having any partners that they ascribe [to Him].

93. 23:93

    قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّى مَا يُوعَدُونَ﴿٩٣﴾

    qul rabbi ˈimmā turiyannī mā yūʿadūna

    Say, ‘My Lord! If You should show me what they are promised,

94. 23:94

    رَبِّ فَلَا تَجْعَلْنِى فِى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ﴿٩٤﴾

    rabbi fa-lā taǧʿalnī fī l-qawmi ẓ-ẓālimīna

    then do not put me, my Lord, among the wrongdoing lot.’

95. 23:95

    وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّرِيَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمْ لَقَـٰدِرُونَ﴿٩٥﴾

    wa-ˈinnā ʿalā ˈan nuriyaka mā naʿiduhum la-qādirūna

    We are indeed able to show you what We promise them.

96. 23:96

    ٱدْفَعْ بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ ۚ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ﴿٩٦﴾

    idfaʿ bi-llatī hiya ˈaḥsanu s-sayyiˈata naḥnu ˈaʿlamu bi-mā yaṣifūna

    Repel ill [conduct] with that which is the best. We know best whatever they allege.

97. 23:97

    وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَٰتِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ﴿٩٧﴾

    wa-qul rabbi ˈaʿūḏu bika min hamazāti š-šayāṭīni

    Say, ‘My Lord! I seek Your protection from the promptings of devils,

98. 23:98

    وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحْضُرُونِ﴿٩٨﴾

    wa-ˈaʿūḏu bika rabbi ˈan yaḥḍurūni

    and I seek Your protection, my Lord, from their presence near me.’

99. 23:99

    حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرْجِعُونِ﴿٩٩﴾

    ḥattā ˈiḏā ǧāˈa ˈaḥadahumu l-mawtu qāla rabbi rǧiʿūni

    When death comes to one of them, he says, ‘My Lord! Take me back,

100. 23:100

     لَعَلِّىٓ أَعْمَلُ صَـٰلِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ ۚ كَلَّآ ۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَآئِلُهَا ۖ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِم بَرْزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ﴿١٠٠﴾

     laʿallī ˈaʿmalu ṣāliḥan fī-mā taraktu kallā ˈinnahā kalimatun huwa qāˈiluhā wa-min warāˈihim barzaḫun ˈilā yawmi yubʿaṯūna

     that I may act righteously in what I have left behind.’ ‘By no means! These are mere words that he says.’ And before them is a barrier until the day they will be resurrected.

101. 23:101

     فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَلَآ أَنسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَلَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿١٠١﴾

     fa-ˈiḏā nufiḫa fī ṣ-ṣūri fa-lā ˈansāba baynahum yawmaˈiḏin wa-lā yatasāˈalūna

     When the Trumpet is blown, there will be no ties between them on that day, nor will they ask [about] each other.

102. 23:102

     فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ﴿١٠٢﴾

     fa-man ṯaqulat mawāzīnuhū fa-ˈulāˈika humu l-mufliḥūna

     Then those whose deeds weigh heavy in the scales—it is they who are the felicitous.

103. 23:103

     وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فِى جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدُونَ﴿١٠٣﴾

     wa-man ḫaffat mawāzīnuhū fa-ˈulāˈika llaḏīna ḫasirū ˈanfusahum fī ǧahannama ḫālidūna

     As for those whose deeds weigh light in the scales—they will be the ones who have ruined their souls, and they will remain in hell [forever].

104. 23:104

     تَلْفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَـٰلِحُونَ﴿١٠٤﴾

     talfaḥu wuǧūhahumu n-nāru wa-hum fīhā kāliḥūna

     The Fire will scorch their faces, while they snarl baring their teeth.

105. 23:105

     أَلَمْ تَكُنْ ءَايَـٰتِى تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿١٠٥﴾

     ˈa-lam takun ˈāyātī tutlā ʿalaykum fa-kuntum bihā tukaḏḏibūna

     ‘Was it not that My signs were recited to you but you would deny them?’

106. 23:106

     قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْمًا ضَآلِّينَ﴿١٠٦﴾

     qālū rabbanā ġalabat ʿalaynā šiqwatunā wa-kunnā qawman ḍāllīna

     They will say, ‘Our Lord! Our wretchedness overcame us, and we were an astray lot.

107. 23:107

     رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْهَا فَإِنْ عُدْنَا فَإِنَّا ظَـٰلِمُونَ﴿١٠٧﴾

     rabbanā ˈaḫriǧnā minhā fa-ˈin ʿudnā fa-ˈinnā ẓālimūna

     Our Lord! Bring us out of this! Then, if we revert [to our previous conduct], we will indeed be wrongdoers.’

108. 23:108

     قَالَ ٱخْسَـُٔوا۟ فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ﴿١٠٨﴾

     qāla ḫsaˈū fīhā wa-lā tukallimūni

     He will say, ‘Begone in it, and do not speak to Me!

109. 23:109

     إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِى يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ﴿١٠٩﴾

     ˈinnahū kāna farīqun min ʿibādī yaqūlūna rabbanā ˈāmannā fa-ġfir lanā wa-rḥamnā wa-ˈanta ḫayru r-rāḥimīna

     Indeed there was a part of My servants who would say, ‘‘Our Lord! We have believed. So forgive us, and have mercy on us, and You are the best of the merciful.’’

110. 23:110

     فَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا حَتَّىٰٓ أَنسَوْكُمْ ذِكْرِى وَكُنتُم مِّنْهُمْ تَضْحَكُونَ﴿١١٠﴾

     fa-ttaḫaḏtumūhum siḫriyyan ḥattā ˈansawkum ḏikrī wa-kuntum minhum taḍḥakūna

     But you took them by ridicule until they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.

111. 23:111

     إِنِّى جَزَيْتُهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ بِمَا صَبَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ﴿١١١﴾

     ˈinnī ǧazaytuhumu l-yawma bi-mā ṣabarū ˈannahum humu l-fāˈizūna

     Indeed I have rewarded them today for their patience. They are indeed the triumphant.’

112. 23:112

     قَـٰلَ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ﴿١١٢﴾

     qāla kam labiṯtum fī l-ˈarḍi ʿadada sinīna

     He will say, ‘How many years did you remain on earth?’

113. 23:113

     قَالُوا۟ لَبِثْنَا يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍ فَسْـَٔلِ ٱلْعَآدِّينَ﴿١١٣﴾

     qālū labiṯnā yawman ˈaw baʿḍa yawmin fa-sˈali l-ʿāddīna

     They will say, ‘We remained for a day, or part of a day; yet ask those who keep the count.’

114. 23:114

     قَـٰلَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا ۖ لَّوْ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿١١٤﴾

     qāla ˈin labiṯtum ˈillā qalīlan law ˈannakum kuntum taʿlamūna

     He will say, ‘You only remained a little; if only you had known.

115. 23:115

     أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ﴿١١٥﴾

     ˈa-fa-ḥasibtum ˈannamā ḫalaqnākum ʿabaṯan wa-ˈannakum ˈilaynā lā turǧaʿūna

     Did you suppose that We created you aimlessly, and that you will not be brought back to Us?’

116. 23:116

     فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْكَرِيمِ﴿١١٦﴾

     fa-taʿālā llāhu l-maliku l-ḥaqqu lā ˈilāha ˈillā huwa rabbu l-ʿarši l-karīmi

     So exalted is Allah, the True Sovereign, there is no god except Him, the Lord of the Noble Throne.

117. 23:117

     وَمَن يَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرْهَـٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ﴿١١٧﴾

     wa-man yadʿu maʿa llāhi ˈilāhan ˈāḫara lā burhāna lahū bihī fa-ˈinnamā ḥisābuhū ʿinda rabbihī ˈinnahū lā yufliḥu l-kāfirūna

     Whoever invokes besides Allah another god of which he has no proof, his reckoning will indeed rest with his Lord. Indeed the faithless will not be felicitous.

118. 23:118

     وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ وَٱرْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ﴿١١٨﴾

     wa-qul rabbi ġfir wa-rḥam wa-ˈanta ḫayru r-rāḥimīna

     Say, ‘My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful.’
