Surah 3
سُورَةُ آلِ عِمۡرَانَ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
الٓمٓ
ʾ-l-m (ˈalif lām mīm)
Alif, Lam, Mim.
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلْحَىُّ ٱلْقَيُّومُ
allāhu lā ˈilāha ˈillā huwa l-ḥayyu l-qayyūmu
Allah—there is no god except Him—is the Living One, the All-sustainer.
نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ
nazzala ʿalayka l-kitāba bi-l-ḥaqqi muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayhi wa-ˈanzala t-tawrāta wa-l-ˈinǧīla
He has sent down to you the Book with the truth, confirming what was [revealed] before it, and He had sent down the Torah and the Evangel
مِن قَبْلُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ ۗ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ
min qablu hudan li-n-nāsi wa-ˈanzala l-furqāna ˈinna llaḏīna kafarū bi-ˈāyāti llāhi lahum ʿaḏābun šadīdun wa-llāhu ʿazīzun ḏū ntiqāmin
before as guidance for mankind, and He has sent down the Criterion. Indeed, there is a severe punishment for those who deny the signs of Allah, and Allah is all-mighty, avenger.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْهِ شَىْءٌ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ
ˈinna llāha lā yaḫfā ʿalayhi šayˈun fī l-ˈarḍi wa-lā fī s-samāˈi
Nothing is indeed hidden from Allah in the earth or in the sky.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُصَوِّرُكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْحَامِ كَيْفَ يَشَآءُ ۚ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
huwa llaḏī yuṣawwirukum fī l-ˈarḥāmi kayfa yašāˈu lā ˈilāha ˈillā huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu
It is He who forms you in the wombs [of your mothers] however He wishes. There is no god except Him, the All-mighty, the All-wise.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِنْهُ ءَايَـٰتٌ مُّحْكَمَـٰتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَـٰبِهَـٰتٌ ۖ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ زَيْغٌ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَـٰبَهَ مِنْهُ ٱبْتِغَآءَ ٱلْفِتْنَةِ وَٱبْتِغَآءَ تَأْوِيلِهِۦ ۗ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْوِيلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ فِى ٱلْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ رَبِّنَا ۗ وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلَّآ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
huwa llaḏī ˈanzala ʿalayka l-kitāba minhu ˈāyātun muḥkamātun hunna ˈummu l-kitābi wa-ˈuḫaru mutašābihātun fa-ˈammā llaḏīna fī qulūbihim zayġun fa-yattabiʿūna mā tašābaha minhu btiġāˈa l-fitnati wa-btiġāˈa taˈwīlihī wa-mā yaʿlamu taˈwīlahū ˈillā llāhu wa-r-rāsiḫūna fī l-ʿilmi yaqūlūna ˈāmannā bihī kullun min ʿindi rabbinā wa-mā yaḏḏakkaru ˈillā ˈulū l-ˈalbābi
It is He who has sent down to you the Book. Parts of it are definitive verses, which are the mother of the Book, while others are metaphorical. As for those in whose hearts is deviance, they pursue what is metaphorical in it, courting temptation, and seeking its interpretation. But no one knows its interpretation except Allah and those firmly grounded in knowledge; they say, ‘We believe in it; all of it is from our Lord.’ And none takes admonition except those who possess intellect.
رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ
rabbanā lā tuziġ qulūbanā baʿda ˈiḏ hadaytanā wa-hab lanā min ladunka raḥmatan ˈinnaka ˈanta l-wahhābu
[They say,] ‘Our Lord! Do not make our hearts swerve after You have guided us, and bestow Your mercy on us. Indeed, You are the All-munificent.
رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ جَامِعُ ٱلنَّاسِ لِيَوْمٍ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ
rabbanā ˈinnaka ǧāmiʿu n-nāsi li-yawmin lā rayba fīhi ˈinna llāha lā yuḫlifu l-mīʿāda
Our Lord! You will indeed gather mankind on a day in which there is no doubt. Indeed Allah does not break His promise.’
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَن تُغْنِىَ عَنْهُمْ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَـٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ وَقُودُ ٱلنَّارِ
ˈinna llaḏīna kafarū lan tuġniya ʿanhum ˈamwāluhum wa-lā ˈawlāduhum mina llāhi šayˈan wa-ˈulāˈika hum waqūdu n-nāri
As for the faithless, neither their wealth nor their children shall avail them anything against Allah; it is they who will be fuel for the Fire;
كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
ka-daˈbi ˈāli firʿawna wa-llaḏīna min qablihim kaḏḏabū bi-ˈāyātinā fa-ˈaḫaḏahumu llāhu bi-ḏunūbihim wa-llāhu šadīdu l-ʿiqābi
as in the case of Pharaoh’s clan and those who were before them, who denied Our signs. So Allah seized them for their sins, and Allah is severe in retribution.
قُل لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ سَتُغْلَبُونَ وَتُحْشَرُونَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ ۚ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ
qul li-llaḏīna kafarū sa-tuġlabūna wa-tuḥšarūna ˈilā ǧahannama wa-biˈsa l-mihādu
Say to the faithless, ‘You shall be overcome and mustered toward hell, and it is an evil resting place.’
قَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ ءَايَةٌ فِى فِئَتَيْنِ ٱلْتَقَتَا ۖ فِئَةٌ تُقَـٰتِلُ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَأُخْرَىٰ كَافِرَةٌ يَرَوْنَهُم مِّثْلَيْهِمْ رَأْىَ ٱلْعَيْنِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُؤَيِّدُ بِنَصْرِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ
qad kāna lakum ˈāyatun fī fiˈatayni ltaqatā fiˈatun tuqātilu fī sabīli llāhi wa-ˈuḫrā kāfiratun yarawnahum miṯlayhim raˈya l-ʿayni wa-llāhu yuˈayyidu bi-naṣrihī man yašāˈu ˈinna fī ḏālika la-ʿibratan li-ˈulī l-ˈabṣāri
There was certainly a sign for you in the two hosts that met: one host fighting in the way of Allah and the other faithless, who saw them as visibly twice as many. Allah strengthens whomever He wishes with His help. There is indeed a moral in that for those who have insight.
زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ مِنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلْبَنِينَ وَٱلْقَنَـٰطِيرِ ٱلْمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ وَٱلْفِضَّةِ وَٱلْخَيْلِ ٱلْمُسَوَّمَةِ وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ وَٱلْحَرْثِ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ مَتَـٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسْنُ ٱلْمَـَٔابِ
zuyyina li-n-nāsi ḥubbu š-šahawāti mina n-nisāˈi wa-l-banīna wa-l-qanāṭīri l-muqanṭarati mina ḏ-ḏahabi wa-l-fiḍḍati wa-l-ḫayli l-musawwamati wa-l-ˈanʿāmi wa-l-ḥarṯi ḏālika matāʿu l-ḥayāti d-dunyā wa-llāhu ʿindahū ḥusnu l-maˈābi
The love of [worldly] allures, including women and children, accumulated piles of gold and silver, horses of mark, livestock, and farms has been made to seem decorous to mankind. Those are the wares of the life of this world, but the goodness of one’s ultimate destination lies near Allah.
قُلْ أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم بِخَيْرٍ مِّن ذَٰلِكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَأَزْوَٰجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ وَرِضْوَٰنٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ
qul ˈa-ˈunabbiˈukum bi-ḫayrin min ḏālikum li-llaḏīna ttaqaw ʿinda rabbihim ǧannātun taǧrī min taḥtihā l-ˈanhāru ḫālidīna fīhā wa-ˈazwāǧun muṭahharatun wa-riḍwānun mina llāhi wa-llāhu baṣīrun bi-l-ʿibādi
Say, ‘Shall I inform you of something better than that? For those who are Godwary there will be gardens near their Lord, with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], and chaste mates, and Allah’s pleasure.’ And Allah watches His servants.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ
allaḏīna yaqūlūna rabbanā ˈinnanā ˈāmannā fa-ġfir lanā ḏunūbanā wa-qinā ʿaḏāba n-nāri
Those who say, ‘Our Lord! Indeed, we have faith. So forgive us our sins, and save us from the punishment of the Fire.’
ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ وَٱلْقَـٰنِتِينَ وَٱلْمُنفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِٱلْأَسْحَارِ
aṣ-ṣābirīna wa-ṣ-ṣādiqīna wa-l-qānitīna wa-l-munfiqīna wa-l-mustaġfirīna bi-l-ˈasḥāri
[They are] patient and truthful, obedient and charitable, and they plead for [Allah’s] forgiveness at dawns.
شَهِدَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمِ قَآئِمًۢا بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
šahida llāhu ˈannahū lā ˈilāha ˈillā huwa wa-l-malāˈikatu wa-ˈulū l-ʿilmi qāˈiman bi-l-qisṭi lā ˈilāha ˈillā huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu
Allah, maintainer of justice, the Almighty and the All-wise, besides whom there is no god, bears witness that there is no god except Him, and [so do] the angels and those who possess knowledge.
إِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمُ ۗ وَمَا ٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ بَغْيًۢا بَيْنَهُمْ ۗ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ
ˈinna d-dīna ʿinda llāhi l-ˈislāmu wa-mā ḫtalafa llaḏīna ˈūtū l-kitāba ˈillā min baʿdi mā ǧāˈahumu l-ʿilmu baġyan baynahum wa-man yakfur bi-ˈāyāti llāhi fa-ˈinna llāha sarīʿu l-ḥisābi
Indeed, with Allah religion is Islam, and those who were given the Book did not differ except after knowledge had come to them, out of envy among themselves. And whoever denies Allah’s signs [should know that] Allah is swift at reckoning.
فَإِنْ حَآجُّوكَ فَقُلْ أَسْلَمْتُ وَجْهِىَ لِلَّهِ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِ ۗ وَقُل لِّلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ ءَأَسْلَمْتُمْ ۚ فَإِنْ أَسْلَمُوا۟ فَقَدِ ٱهْتَدَوا۟ ۖ وَّإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ
fa-ˈin ḥāǧǧūka fa-qul ˈaslamtu waǧhiya li-llāhi wa-mani ttabaʿani wa-qul li-llaḏīna ˈūtū l-kitāba wa-l-ˈummiyyīna ˈa-ˈaslamtum fa-ˈin ˈaslamū fa-qadi htadaw wa-ˈin tawallaw fa-ˈinnamā ʿalayka l-balāġu wa-llāhu baṣīrun bi-l-ʿibādi
If they argue with you, say, ‘I have submitted my will to Allah, and [so has] he who follows me.’ And say to those who were given the Book and the uninstructed ones, ‘Do you submit?’ If they submit, they will certainly be guided; but if they turn away, then your duty is only to communicate, and Allah watches His servants.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
ˈinna llaḏīna yakfurūna bi-ˈāyāti llāhi wa-yaqtulūna n-nabiyyīna bi-ġayri ḥaqqin wa-yaqtulūna llaḏīna yaˈmurūna bi-l-qisṭi mina n-nāsi fa-bašširhum bi-ʿaḏābin ˈalīmin
Those who deny Allah’s signs and kill the prophets unjustly and kill those who call for justice from among the people, inform them of a painful punishment.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ
ˈulāˈika llaḏīna ḥabiṭat ˈaʿmāluhum fī d-dunyā wa-l-ˈāḫirati wa-mā lahum min nāṣirīna
They are the ones whose works have failed in this world and the Hereafter, and they will have no helpers.
أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًا مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَىٰ كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّىٰ فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُمْ وَهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
ˈa-lam tara ˈilā llaḏīna ˈūtū naṣīban mina l-kitābi yudʿawna ˈilā kitābi llāhi li-yaḥkuma baynahum ṯumma yatawallā farīqun minhum wa-hum muʿriḍūna
Have you not regarded those who were given a share of the Book, who are summoned to the Book of Allah in order that it may judge between them, whereat a part of them refuse to comply and they are disregardful?
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لَن تَمَسَّنَا ٱلنَّارُ إِلَّآ أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَٰتٍ ۖ وَغَرَّهُمْ فِى دِينِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
ḏālika bi-ˈannahum qālū lan tamassanā n-nāru ˈillā ˈayyāman maʿdūdātin wa-ġarrahum fī dīnihim mā kānū yaftarūna
That is because they say, ‘The Fire shall not touch us except for a number of days,’ and they have been misled in their religion by what they used to fabricate.
فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جَمَعْنَـٰهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَوُفِّيَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
fa-kayfa ˈiḏā ǧamaʿnāhum li-yawmin lā rayba fīhi wa-wuffiyat kullu nafsin mā kasabat wa-hum lā yuẓlamūna
But how will it be [with them] when We gather them on a day in which there is no doubt, and every soul shall be recompensed fully for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged?
قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ مَـٰلِكَ ٱلْمُلْكِ تُؤْتِى ٱلْمُلْكَ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَنزِعُ ٱلْمُلْكَ مِمَّن تَشَآءُ وَتُعِزُّ مَن تَشَآءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَن تَشَآءُ ۖ بِيَدِكَ ٱلْخَيْرُ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
quli llāhumma mālika l-mulki tuˈtī l-mulka man tašāˈu wa-tanziʿu l-mulka mimman tašāˈu wa-tuʿizzu man tašāˈu wa-tuḏillu man tašāˈu bi-yadika l-ḫayru ˈinnaka ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
Say, ‘O Allah, Master of all sovereignty! You give sovereignty to whomever You wish, and strip of sovereignty whomever You wish; You make mighty whomever You wish, and You degrade whomever You wish; all choice is in Your hand. Indeed You have power over all things.’
تُولِجُ ٱلَّيْلَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَتُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِى ٱلَّيْلِ ۖ وَتُخْرِجُ ٱلْحَىَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَيِّتِ وَتُخْرِجُ ٱلْمَيِّتَ مِنَ ٱلْحَىِّ ۖ وَتَرْزُقُ مَن تَشَآءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
tūliǧu l-layla fī n-nahāri wa-tūliǧu n-nahāra fī l-layli wa-tuḫriǧu l-ḥayya mina l-mayyiti wa-tuḫriǧu l-mayyita mina l-ḥayyi wa-tarzuqu man tašāˈu bi-ġayri ḥisābin
‘You make the night pass into the day and You make the day pass into the night. You bring forth the living from the dead and You bring forth the dead from the living, and You provide for whomever You wish without any reckoning.’
لَّا يَتَّخِذِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۖ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ فَلَيْسَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ فِى شَىْءٍ إِلَّآ أَن تَتَّقُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ تُقَىٰةً ۗ وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسَهُۥ ۗ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
lā yattaḫiḏi l-muˈminūna l-kāfirīna ˈawliyāˈa min dūni l-muˈminīna wa-man yafʿal ḏālika fa-laysa mina llāhi fī šayˈin ˈillā ˈan tattaqū minhum tuqātan wa-yuḥaḏḏirukumu llāhu nafsahū wa-ˈilā llāhi l-maṣīru
The faithful should not take the faithless for allies instead of the faithful, and Allah will have nothing to do with those who do that, except when you are wary of them, out of caution. Allah warns you to beware of [disobeying] Him, and toward Allah is the return.
قُلْ إِن تُخْفُوا۟ مَا فِى صُدُورِكُمْ أَوْ تُبْدُوهُ يَعْلَمْهُ ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
qul ˈin tuḫfū mā fī ṣudūrikum ˈaw tubdūhu yaʿlamhu llāhu wa-yaʿlamu mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ˈarḍi wa-llāhu ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
Say, ‘Whether you hide what is in your hearts or disclose it, Allah knows it, and He knows whatever there is in the heavens and whatever there is in the earth; and Allah has power over all things.’
يَوْمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ مُّحْضَرًا وَمَا عَمِلَتْ مِن سُوٓءٍ تَوَدُّ لَوْ أَنَّ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُۥٓ أَمَدًۢا بَعِيدًا ۗ وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسَهُۥ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ رَءُوفٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ
yawma taǧidu kullu nafsin mā ʿamilat min ḫayrin muḥḍaran wa-mā ʿamilat min sūˈin tawaddu law ˈanna baynahā wa-baynahū ˈamadan baʿīdan wa-yuḥaḏḏirukumu llāhu nafsahū wa-llāhu raˈūfun bi-l-ʿibādi
The day when every soul will find present whatever good it has done; and as for the evil, it has done, it will wish there were a far distance between it and itself. Allah warns you to beware of [disobeying] Him, and Allah is most kind to [His] servants.
قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱللَّهَ فَٱتَّبِعُونِى يُحْبِبْكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
qul ˈin kuntum tuḥibbūna llāha fa-ttabiʿūnī yuḥbibkumu llāhu wa-yaġfir lakum ḏunūbakum wa-llāhu ġafūrun raḥīmun
Say, ‘If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.’
قُلْ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ ۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
qul ˈaṭīʿū llāha wa-r-rasūla fa-ˈin tawallaw fa-ˈinna llāha lā yuḥibbu l-kāfirīna
Say, ‘Obey Allah and the Apostle.’ But if they turn away, indeed Allah does not like the faithless.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱصْطَفَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ وَنُوحًا وَءَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَءَالَ عِمْرَٰنَ عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
ˈinna llāha ṣṭafā ˈādama wa-nūḥan wa-ˈāla ˈibrāhīma wa-ˈāla ʿimrāna ʿalā l-ʿālamīna
Indeed Allah chose Adam and Noah, and the progeny of Abraham and the progeny of Imran above all the nations;
ذُرِّيَّةًۢ بَعْضُهَا مِنۢ بَعْضٍ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
ḏurriyyatan baʿḍuhā min baʿḍin wa-llāhu samīʿun ʿalīmun
some of them are descendants of the others, and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.
إِذْ قَالَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُ عِمْرَٰنَ رَبِّ إِنِّى نَذَرْتُ لَكَ مَا فِى بَطْنِى مُحَرَّرًا فَتَقَبَّلْ مِنِّىٓ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
ˈiḏ qālati mraˈatu ʿimrāna rabbi ˈinnī naḏartu laka mā fī baṭnī muḥarraran fa-taqabbal minnī ˈinnaka ˈanta s-samīʿu l-ʿalīmu
When the wife of Imran said, ‘My Lord, I dedicate to You in consecration what is in my belly. Accept it from me; indeed You are the All-hearing, the All-knowing.’
فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْهَا قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّى وَضَعْتُهَآ أُنثَىٰ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتْ وَلَيْسَ ٱلذَّكَرُ كَٱلْأُنثَىٰ ۖ وَإِنِّى سَمَّيْتُهَا مَرْيَمَ وَإِنِّىٓ أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ
fa-lammā waḍaʿathā qālat rabbi ˈinnī waḍaʿtuhā ˈunṯā wa-llāhu ˈaʿlamu bi-mā waḍaʿat wa-laysa ḏ-ḏakaru ka-l-ˈunṯā wa-ˈinnī sammaytuhā maryama wa-ˈinnī ˈuʿīḏuhā bika wa-ḏurriyyatahā mina š-šayṭāni r-raǧīmi
When she bore her, she said, ‘My Lord, I have borne a female [child]’—and Allah knew better what she had borne, and the male [child she expected] was no match for the female [child she had borne] —‘and I have named her Mary, and I commend her and her offspring to Your care against [the evil of] the outcast Satan.’
فَتَقَبَّلَهَا رَبُّهَا بِقَبُولٍ حَسَنٍ وَأَنۢبَتَهَا نَبَاتًا حَسَنًا وَكَفَّلَهَا زَكَرِيَّا ۖ كُلَّمَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا زَكَرِيَّا ٱلْمِحْرَابَ وَجَدَ عِندَهَا رِزْقًا ۖ قَالَ يَـٰمَرْيَمُ أَنَّىٰ لَكِ هَـٰذَا ۖ قَالَتْ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَآءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
fa-taqabbalahā rabbuhā bi-qabūlin ḥasanin wa-ˈanbatahā nabātan ḥasanan wa-kaffalahā zakariyyā kullamā daḫala ʿalayhā zakariyyā l-miḥrāba waǧada ʿindahā rizqan qāla yā-maryamu ˈannā laki hāḏā qālat huwa min ʿindi llāhi ˈinna llāha yarzuqu man yašāˈu bi-ġayri ḥisābin
Thereupon her Lord accepted her with a gracious acceptance, and made her grow up in a worthy fashion, and He charged Zechariah with her care. Whenever Zechariah visited her in the sanctuary, he would find provisions with her. He said, ‘O Mary, from where does this come for you?’ She said, ‘It comes from Allah. Allah provides whomever He wishes without any reckoning.’
هُنَالِكَ دَعَا زَكَرِيَّا رَبَّهُۥ ۖ قَالَ رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ
hunālika daʿā zakariyyā rabbahū qāla rabbi hab lī min ladunka ḏurriyyatan ṭayyibatan ˈinnaka samīʿu d-duʿāˈi
Thereat Zechariah supplicated his Lord. He said, ‘My Lord! Grant me a good offspring from You! Indeed You hear all supplications.’
فَنَادَتْهُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَهُوَ قَآئِمٌ يُصَلِّى فِى ٱلْمِحْرَابِ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكَ بِيَحْيَىٰ مُصَدِّقًۢا بِكَلِمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَسَيِّدًا وَحَصُورًا وَنَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
fa-nādathu l-malāˈikatu wa-huwa qāˈimun yuṣallī fī l-miḥrābi ˈanna llāha yubašširuka bi-yaḥyā muṣaddiqan bi-kalimatin mina llāhi wa-sayyidan wa-ḥaṣūran wa-nabiyyan mina ṣ-ṣāliḥīna
Then, as he stood praying in the sanctuary the angels called out to him: ‘Allah gives you the good news of John, as a confirmer of a Word of Allah, eminent and chaste, a prophet, and one of the righteous.’
قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَـٰمٌ وَقَدْ بَلَغَنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ وَٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرٌ ۖ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱللَّهُ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَآءُ
qāla rabbi ˈannā yakūnu lī ġulāmun wa-qad balaġaniya l-kibaru wa-mraˈatī ʿāqirun qāla ka-ḏālika llāhu yafʿalu mā yašāˈu
He said, ‘My Lord, how shall I have a son while old age has overtaken me and my wife is barren?’ Said He, ‘So it is that Allah does whatever He wishes.’
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةً ۖ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَـٰثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِلَّا رَمْزًا ۗ وَٱذْكُر رَّبَّكَ كَثِيرًا وَسَبِّحْ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِبْكَـٰرِ
qāla rabbi ǧʿal lī ˈāyatan qāla ˈāyatuka ˈallā tukallima n-nāsa ṯalāṯata ˈayyāmin ˈillā ramzan wa-ḏkur rabbaka kaṯīran wa-sabbiḥ bi-l-ʿašiyyi wa-l-ˈibkāri
He said, ‘My Lord, grant me a sign.’ Said He, ‘Your sign is that you will not speak to people for three days except in gestures. Remember Your Lord much, and glorify Him morning and evening.’
وَإِذْ قَالَتِ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يَـٰمَرْيَمُ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱصْطَفَىٰكِ وَطَهَّرَكِ وَٱصْطَفَىٰكِ عَلَىٰ نِسَآءِ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
wa-ˈiḏ qālati l-malāˈikatu yā-maryamu ˈinna llāha ṣṭafāki wa-ṭahharaki wa-ṣṭafāki ʿalā nisāˈi l-ʿālamīna
And when the angels said, ‘O Mary, Allah has chosen you and purified you, and He has chosen you above the world’s women.
يَـٰمَرْيَمُ ٱقْنُتِى لِرَبِّكِ وَٱسْجُدِى وَٱرْكَعِى مَعَ ٱلرَّٰكِعِينَ
yā-maryamu qnutī li-rabbiki wa-sǧudī wa-rkaʿī maʿa r-rākiʿīna
O Mary, be obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow down with those who bow [in worship].’
ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ أَنۢبَآءِ ٱلْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيْكَ ۚ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يُلْقُونَ أَقْلَـٰمَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ يَكْفُلُ مَرْيَمَ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ
ḏālika min ˈanbāˈi l-ġaybi nūḥīhi ˈilayka wa-mā kunta ladayhim ˈiḏ yulqūna ˈaqlāmahum ˈayyuhum yakfulu maryama wa-mā kunta ladayhim ˈiḏ yaḫtaṣimūna
These accounts are from the Unseen, which We reveal to you, and you were not with them when they were casting lots [to see] which of them would take charge of Mary’s care, nor were you with them when they were contending.
إِذْ قَالَتِ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يَـٰمَرْيَمُ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُبَشِّرُكِ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِّنْهُ ٱسْمُهُ ٱلْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَجِيهًا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
ˈiḏ qālati l-malāˈikatu yā-maryamu ˈinna llāha yubašširuki bi-kalimatin minhu smuhu l-masīḥu ʿīsā bnu maryama waǧīhan fī d-dunyā wa-l-ˈāḫirati wa-mina l-muqarrabīna
When the angels said, ‘O Mary, Allah gives you the good news of a Word from Him whose name is Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, distinguished in the world and the Hereafter and one of those brought near [to Allah].
وَيُكَلِّمُ ٱلنَّاسَ فِى ٱلْمَهْدِ وَكَهْلًا وَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
wa-yukallimu n-nāsa fī l-mahdi wa-kahlan wa-mina ṣ-ṣāliḥīna
He will speak to the people in the cradle and in adulthood, and will be one of the righteous.’
قَالَتْ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى وَلَدٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِى بَشَرٌ ۖ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ ٱللَّهُ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ إِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
qālat rabbi ˈannā yakūnu lī waladun wa-lam yamsasnī bašarun qāla ka-ḏāliki llāhu yaḫluqu mā yašāˈu ˈiḏā qaḍā ˈamran fa-ˈinnamā yaqūlu lahū kun fa-yakūnu
She said, ‘My Lord, how shall I have a child seeing that no human has ever touched me?’ He said, ‘So it is that Allah creates whatever He wishes. When He decides on a matter He just says to it ‘‘Be!’’ and it is.
وَيُعَلِّمُهُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ
wa-yuʿallimuhu l-kitāba wa-l-ḥikmata wa-t-tawrāta wa-l-ˈinǧīla
He will teach him the Book and wisdom, the Torah and the Evangel,
وَرَسُولًا إِلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَنِّى قَدْ جِئْتُكُم بِـَٔايَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ أَنِّىٓ أَخْلُقُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطِّينِ كَهَيْـَٔةِ ٱلطَّيْرِ فَأَنفُخُ فِيهِ فَيَكُونُ طَيْرًۢا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَأُبْرِئُ ٱلْأَكْمَهَ وَٱلْأَبْرَصَ وَأُحْىِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا تَأْكُلُونَ وَمَا تَدَّخِرُونَ فِى بُيُوتِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
wa-rasūlan ˈilā banī ˈisrāˈīla ˈannī qad ǧiˈtukum bi-ˈāyatin min rabbikum ˈannī ˈaḫluqu lakum mina ṭ-ṭīni ka-hayˈati ṭ-ṭayri fa-ˈanfuḫu fīhi fa-yakūnu ṭayran bi-ˈiḏni llāhi wa-ˈubriˈu l-ˈakmaha wa-l-ˈabraṣa wa-ˈuḥyi l-mawtā bi-ˈiḏni llāhi wa-ˈunabbiˈukum bi-mā taˈkulūna wa-mā taddaḫirūna fī buyūtikum ˈinna fī ḏālika la-ˈāyatan lakum ˈin kuntum muˈminīna
and [he will be] an apostle to the Children of Israel, [and he will declare,] “I have certainly brought you a sign from your Lord: I will create for you the form of a bird out of clay, then I will breathe into it, and it will become a bird by Allah’s leave. I heal the blind and the leper and I revive the dead by Allah’s leave. I will tell you what you have eaten and what you have stored in your houses. There is indeed a sign in that for you, should you be faithful.
وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَىَّ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَلِأُحِلَّ لَكُم بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى حُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَجِئْتُكُم بِـَٔايَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ
wa-muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayya mina t-tawrāti wa-li-ˈuḥilla lakum baʿḍa llaḏī ḥurrima ʿalaykum wa-ǧiˈtukum bi-ˈāyatin min rabbikum fa-ttaqū llāha wa-ˈaṭīʿūni
And [I come] to confirm [the truth of] that which is before me of the Torah, and to make lawful for you some of the things that were forbidden you. I have brought you a sign from your Lord; so be wary of Allah and obey me.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۗ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ
ˈinna llāha rabbī wa-rabbukum fa-ʿbudūhu hāḏā ṣirāṭun mustaqīmun
Indeed Allah is my Lord and your Lord; so worship Him. This is a straight path.” ’
فَلَمَّآ أَحَسَّ عِيسَىٰ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْكُفْرَ قَالَ مَنْ أَنصَارِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ قَالَ ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ نَحْنُ أَنصَارُ ٱللَّهِ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَٱشْهَدْ بِأَنَّا مُسْلِمُونَ
fa-lammā ˈaḥassa ʿīsā minhumu l-kufra qāla man ˈanṣārī ˈilā llāhi qāla l-ḥawāriyyūna naḥnu ˈanṣāru llāhi ˈāmannā bi-llāhi wa-šhad bi-ˈannā muslimūna
When Jesus sensed their faithlessness, he said, ‘Who will be my helpers [on the path] toward Allah?’ The Disciples said, ‘We will be helpers of Allah. We have faith in Allah, and you be witness that we have submitted [to Him].
رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا بِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ وَٱتَّبَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَ فَٱكْتُبْنَا مَعَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
rabbanā ˈāmannā bi-mā ˈanzalta wa-ttabaʿnā r-rasūla fa-ktubnā maʿa š-šāhidīna
Our Lord, we believe in what You have sent down, and we follow the apostle, so write us among the witnesses.’
وَمَكَرُوا۟ وَمَكَرَ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْمَـٰكِرِينَ
wa-makarū wa-makara llāhu wa-llāhu ḫayru l-mākirīna
Then they plotted [against Jesus], and Allah also devised, and Allah is the best of devisers.
إِذْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ يَـٰعِيسَىٰٓ إِنِّى مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَىَّ وَمُطَهِّرُكَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَجَاعِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوكَ فَوْقَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَىَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ فِيمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ
ˈiḏ qāla llāhu yā-ʿīsā ˈinnī mutawaffīka wa-rāfiʿuka ˈilayya wa-muṭahhiruka mina llaḏīna kafarū wa-ǧāʿilu llaḏīna ttabaʿūka fawqa llaḏīna kafarū ˈilā yawmi l-qiyāmati ṯumma ˈilayya marǧiʿukum fa-ˈaḥkumu baynakum fī-mā kuntum fīhi taḫtalifūna
When Allah said, ‘O Jesus, I shall take you[r soul], and I shall raise you up toward Myself, and I shall clear you of [the calumnies of] the faithless, and I shall set those who follow you above the faithless until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me will be your return, whereat I will judge between you concerning that about which you used to differ.
فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَأُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ
fa-ˈammā llaḏīna kafarū fa-ˈuʿaḏḏibuhum ʿaḏāban šadīdan fī d-dunyā wa-l-ˈāḫirati wa-mā lahum min nāṣirīna
As for the faithless, I will punish them with a severe punishment in the world and the Hereafter; and they will have no helpers.’
وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ أُجُورَهُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
wa-ˈammā llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti fa-yuwaffīhim ˈuǧūrahum wa-llāhu lā yuḥibbu ẓ-ẓālimīna
But as for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, He will pay them in full their rewards, and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.
ذَٰلِكَ نَتْلُوهُ عَلَيْكَ مِنَ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ وَٱلذِّكْرِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
ḏālika natlūhu ʿalayka mina l-ˈāyāti wa-ḏ-ḏikri l-ḥakīmi
These that We recite to you are from the signs and the Wise Reminder.
إِنَّ مَثَلَ عِيسَىٰ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ ءَادَمَ ۖ خَلَقَهُۥ مِن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
ˈinna maṯala ʿīsā ʿinda llāhi ka-maṯali ˈādama ḫalaqahū min turābin ṯumma qāla lahū kun fa-yakūnu
Indeed the case of Jesus with Allah is like the case of Adam: He created him from dust, then said to him, ‘Be,’ and he was.
ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ
al-ḥaqqu min rabbika fa-lā takun mina l-mumtarīna
This is the truth from your Lord, so do not be among the skeptics.
فَمَنْ حَآجَّكَ فِيهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ فَقُلْ تَعَالَوْا۟ نَدْعُ أَبْنَآءَنَا وَأَبْنَآءَكُمْ وَنِسَآءَنَا وَنِسَآءَكُمْ وَأَنفُسَنَا وَأَنفُسَكُمْ ثُمَّ نَبْتَهِلْ فَنَجْعَل لَّعْنَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ
fa-man ḥāǧǧaka fīhi min baʿdi mā ǧāˈaka mina l-ʿilmi fa-qul taʿālaw nadʿu ˈabnāˈanā wa-ˈabnāˈakum wa-nisāˈanā wa-nisāˈakum wa-ˈanfusanā wa-ˈanfusakum ṯumma nabtahil fa-naǧʿal laʿnata llāhi ʿalā l-kāḏibīna
Should anyone argue with you concerning him, after the knowledge that has come to you, say, ‘Come! Let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, our souls and your souls, then let us pray earnestly, and call down Allah’s curse upon the liars.’
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْقَصَصُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۚ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
ˈinna hāḏā la-huwa l-qaṣaṣu l-ḥaqqu wa-mā min ˈilāhin ˈillā llāhu wa-ˈinna llāha la-huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu
This is indeed the true account, for sure. There is no god but Allah, and indeed Allah is the All-mighty, the All-wise.
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
fa-ˈin tawallaw fa-ˈinna llāha ʿalīmun bi-l-mufsidīna
But if they turn away, indeed Allah knows best the agents of corruption.
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ كَلِمَةٍ سَوَآءٍۭ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ أَلَّا نَعْبُدَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَلَا نُشْرِكَ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُنَا بَعْضًا أَرْبَابًا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقُولُوا۟ ٱشْهَدُوا۟ بِأَنَّا مُسْلِمُونَ
qul yā-ˈahla l-kitābi taʿālaw ˈilā kalimatin sawāˈin baynanā wa-baynakum ˈallā naʿbuda ˈillā llāha wa-lā nušrika bihī šayˈan wa-lā yattaḫiḏa baʿḍunā baʿḍan ˈarbāban min dūni llāhi fa-ˈin tawallaw fa-qūlū šhadū bi-ˈannā muslimūna
Say, ‘O People of the Book! Come to a common word between us and you: that we will worship no one but Allah, that we will not ascribe any partner to Him, and that some of us will not take some others as lords besides Allah.’ But if they turn away, say, ‘Be witnesses that we have submitted [to Allah].’
يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِمَ تُحَآجُّونَ فِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَتِ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ وَٱلْإِنجِيلُ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
yā-ˈahla l-kitābi li-ma tuḥāǧǧūna fī ˈibrāhīma wa-mā ˈunzilati t-tawrātu wa-l-ˈinǧīlu ˈillā min baʿdihī ˈa-fa-lā taʿqilūna
O People of the Book! Why do you argue concerning Abraham? Neither the Torah nor the Evangel were sent down until [long] after him. Do you not exercise your reason?
هَـٰٓأَنتُمْ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ حَـٰجَجْتُمْ فِيمَا لَكُم بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ فَلِمَ تُحَآجُّونَ فِيمَا لَيْسَ لَكُم بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
hā-ˈantum hāˈulāˈi ḥāǧaǧtum fī-mā lakum bihī ʿilmun fa-li-ma tuḥāǧǧūna fī-mā laysa lakum bihī ʿilmun wa-llāhu yaʿlamu wa-ˈantum lā taʿlamūna
Ah! You are the very ones who argue about that of which you have knowledge. But why do you argue about that of which you have no knowledge? And Allah knows and you do not know.
مَا كَانَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ يَهُودِيًّا وَلَا نَصْرَانِيًّا وَلَـٰكِن كَانَ حَنِيفًا مُّسْلِمًا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
mā kāna ˈibrāhīmu yahūdiyyan wa-lā naṣrāniyyan wa-lākin kāna ḥanīfan musliman wa-mā kāna mina l-mušrikīna
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. Rather, he was a Hanif, a Muslim, and he was not one of the polytheists.
إِنَّ أَوْلَى ٱلنَّاسِ بِإِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَـٰذَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَلِىُّ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
ˈinna ˈawlā n-nāsi bi-ˈibrāhīma la-llaḏīna ttabaʿūhu wa-hāḏā n-nabiyyu wa-llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-llāhu waliyyu l-muˈminīna
Indeed the nearest of all people to Abraham are those who follow him and this prophet and those who have faith, and Allah is the guardian of the faithful.
وَدَّت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَوْ يُضِلُّونَكُمْ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ
waddat ṭāˈifatun min ˈahli l-kitābi law yuḍillūnakum wa-mā yuḍillūna ˈillā ˈanfusahum wa-mā yašʿurūna
A group of the People of the Book were eager to lead you astray; yet they lead no one astray except themselves, but they are not aware.
يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِمَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَنتُمْ تَشْهَدُونَ
yā-ˈahla l-kitābi li-ma takfurūna bi-ˈāyāti llāhi wa-ˈantum tašhadūna
O People of the Book! Why do you deny Allah’s signs while you testify [to their truth]?
يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِمَ تَلْبِسُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
yā-ˈahla l-kitābi li-ma talbisūna l-ḥaqqa bi-l-bāṭili wa-taktumūna l-ḥaqqa wa-ˈantum taʿlamūna
O People of the Book! Why do you mix the truth with falsehood, and conceal the truth while you know [it]?
وَقَالَت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَجْهَ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟ ءَاخِرَهُۥ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
wa-qālat ṭāˈifatun min ˈahli l-kitābi ˈāminū bi-llaḏī ˈunzila ʿalā llaḏīna ˈāmanū waǧha n-nahāri wa-kfurū ˈāḫirahū laʿallahum yarǧiʿūna
A group of the People of the Book say, ‘Believe in what has been sent down to the faithful at the beginning of the day, and disbelieve at its end, so that they may turn back [from their religion].’
وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِمَن تَبِعَ دِينَكُمْ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْهُدَىٰ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ أَن يُؤْتَىٰٓ أَحَدٌ مِّثْلَ مَآ أُوتِيتُمْ أَوْ يُحَآجُّوكُمْ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ
wa-lā tuˈminū ˈillā li-man tabiʿa dīnakum qul ˈinna l-hudā hudā llāhi ˈan yuˈtā ˈaḥadun miṯla mā ˈūtītum ˈaw yuḥāǧǧūkum ʿinda rabbikum qul ˈinna l-faḍla bi-yadi llāhi yuˈtīhi man yašāˈu wa-llāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun
And [they say,] ‘Do not believe anyone except him who follows your religion.’ Say, ‘Indeed [true] guidance is the guidance of Allah.’ [They also say.] ‘[Do not believe] that anyone may be given the like of what you were given, or that he may argue with you before your Lord.’ Say, ‘Indeed all grace is in Allah’s hand; He grants it to whomever He wishes, and Allah is all-bounteous, all-knowing.
يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
yaḫtaṣṣu bi-raḥmatihī man yašāˈu wa-llāhu ḏū l-faḍli l-ʿaẓīmi
He singles out for His mercy whomever He wishes, and Allah is dispenser of a great grace.’
وَمِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَنْ إِن تَأْمَنْهُ بِقِنطَارٍ يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ إِلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ إِن تَأْمَنْهُ بِدِينَارٍ لَّا يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَآئِمًا ۗ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لَيْسَ عَلَيْنَا فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ سَبِيلٌ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
wa-min ˈahli l-kitābi man ˈin taˈmanhu bi-qinṭārin yuˈaddihī ˈilayka wa-minhum man ˈin taˈmanhu bi-dīnārin lā yuˈaddihī ˈilayka ˈillā mā dumta ʿalayhi qāˈiman ḏālika bi-ˈannahum qālū laysa ʿalaynā fī l-ˈummiyyīna sabīlun wa-yaqūlūna ʿalā llāhi l-kaḏiba wa-hum yaʿlamūna
Among the People of the Book is he who if you entrust him with a quintal will repay it to you, and among them is he who, if you entrust him with a dinar will not repay it to you unless you stand persistently over him. That is because they say, ‘We have no obligation to the non-Jews.’ But they attribute lies to Allah, and they know [it].
بَلَىٰ مَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِۦ وَٱتَّقَىٰ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
balā man ˈawfā bi-ʿahdihī wa-ttaqā fa-ˈinna llāha yuḥibbu l-muttaqīna
Yes, whoever fulfills his commitments and is wary of Allah—Allah indeed loves the Godwary.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَا خَلَـٰقَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا يَنظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
ˈinna llaḏīna yaštarūna bi-ʿahdi llāhi wa-ˈaymānihim ṯamanan qalīlan ˈulāˈika lā ḫalāqa lahum fī l-ˈāḫirati wa-lā yukallimuhumu llāhu wa-lā yanẓuru ˈilayhim yawma l-qiyāmati wa-lā yuzakkīhim wa-lahum ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun
There shall be no share in the Hereafter for those who sell Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a paltry gain, and on the Day of Resurrection Allah will not speak to them nor will He [so much as] look at them, nor will He purify them, and there is a painful punishment for them.
وَإِنَّ مِنْهُمْ لَفَرِيقًا يَلْوُۥنَ أَلْسِنَتَهُم بِٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِتَحْسَبُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
wa-ˈinna minhum la-farīqan yalwūna ˈalsinatahum bi-l-kitābi li-taḥsabūhu mina l-kitābi wa-mā huwa mina l-kitābi wa-yaqūlūna huwa min ʿindi llāhi wa-mā huwa min ʿindi llāhi wa-yaqūlūna ʿalā llāhi l-kaḏiba wa-hum yaʿlamūna
There is a group of them who alter their voice while reading out a text [that they have themselves authored], so that you may suppose it to be from the Book, though it is not from the Book, and they say, ‘It is from Allah,’ though it is not from Allah, and they attribute lies to Allah, and they know [it].
مَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَن يُؤْتِيَهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحُكْمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ ثُمَّ يَقُولَ لِلنَّاسِ كُونُوا۟ عِبَادًا لِّى مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِن كُونُوا۟ رَبَّـٰنِيِّـۧنَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تُعَلِّمُونَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَدْرُسُونَ
mā kāna li-bašarin ˈan yuˈtiyahu llāhu l-kitāba wa-l-ḥukma wa-n-nubuwwata ṯumma yaqūla li-n-nāsi kūnū ʿibādan lī min dūni llāhi wa-lākin kūnū rabbāniyyīna bi-mā kuntum tuʿallimūna l-kitāba wa-bi-mā kuntum tadrusūna
It does not behoove any human that Allah should give him the Book, judgement and prophethood, and then he should say to the people, ‘Be my servants instead of Allah.’ Rather [he would say], ‘Be a godly people, because of your teaching the Book and because of your studying it.’
وَلَا يَأْمُرَكُمْ أَن تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ أَرْبَابًا ۗ أَيَأْمُرُكُم بِٱلْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
wa-lā yaˈmurakum ˈan tattaḫiḏū l-malāˈikata wa-n-nabiyyīna ˈarbāban ˈa-yaˈmurukum bi-l-kufri baʿda ˈiḏ ˈantum muslimūna
And he would not command you to take the angels and the prophets for lords. Would he call you to unfaith after you have submitted [to Allah]?
وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَـٰقَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ لَمَآ ءَاتَيْتُكُم مِّن كِتَـٰبٍ وَحِكْمَةٍ ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهِۦ وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥ ۚ قَالَ ءَأَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَخَذْتُمْ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُمْ إِصْرِى ۖ قَالُوٓا۟ أَقْرَرْنَا ۚ قَالَ فَٱشْهَدُوا۟ وَأَنَا۠ مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
wa-ˈiḏ ˈaḫaḏa llāhu mīṯāqa n-nabiyyīna la-mā ˈātaytukum min kitābin wa-ḥikmatin ṯumma ǧāˈakum rasūlun muṣaddiqun li-mā maʿakum la-tuˈminunna bihī wa-la-tanṣurunnahū qāla ˈa-ˈaqrartum wa-ˈaḫaḏtum ʿalā ḏālikum ˈiṣrī qālū ˈaqrarnā qāla fa-šhadū wa-ˈana maʿakum mina š-šāhidīna
When Allah took a compact concerning the prophets, [He said,] ‘Inasmuch as I have given you [the knowledge] of the Book and wisdom, should an apostle come to you thereafter confirming what is with you, you shall believe in him and help him.’ He said, ‘Do you pledge and accept My covenant on this condition?’ They said, ‘We pledge.’ He said, ‘Then be witnesses, and I, too, am among the witnesses along with you.’
فَمَن تَوَلَّىٰ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ
fa-man tawallā baʿda ḏālika fa-ˈulāˈika humu l-fāsiqūna
Then whoever turns away after that—it is they who are the transgressors.
أَفَغَيْرَ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ يَبْغُونَ وَلَهُۥٓ أَسْلَمَ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ طَوْعًا وَكَرْهًا وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ
ˈa-fa-ġayra dīni llāhi yabġūna wa-lahū ˈaslama man fī s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi ṭawʿan wa-karhan wa-ˈilayhi yurǧaʿūna
Do they seek a religion other than that of Allah, while to Him submits whoever there is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they will be brought back?
قُلْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَٱلنَّبِيُّونَ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُۥ مُسْلِمُونَ
qul ˈāmannā bi-llāhi wa-mā ˈunzila ʿalaynā wa-mā ˈunzila ʿalā ˈibrāhīma wa-ˈismāʿīla wa-ˈisḥāqa wa-yaʿqūba wa-l-ˈasbāṭi wa-mā ˈūtiya mūsā wa-ʿīsā wa-n-nabiyyūna min rabbihim lā nufarriqu bayna ˈaḥadin minhum wa-naḥnu lahū muslimūna
Say, ‘We have faith in Allah and in what has been sent down to us, and what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, and that which Moses, Jesus and the prophets were given by their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him do we submit.’
وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمِ دِينًا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ
wa-man yabtaġi ġayra l-ˈislāmi dīnan fa-lan yuqbala minhu wa-huwa fī l-ˈāḫirati mina l-ḫāsirīna
Should anyone follow a religion other than Islam, it shall never be accepted from him, and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter.
كَيْفَ يَهْدِى ٱللَّهُ قَوْمًا كَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِيمَـٰنِهِمْ وَشَهِدُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلرَّسُولَ حَقٌّ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
kayfa yahdī llāhu qawman kafarū baʿda ˈīmānihim wa-šahidū ˈanna r-rasūla ḥaqqun wa-ǧāˈahumu l-bayyinātu wa-llāhu lā yahdī l-qawma ẓ-ẓālimīna
How shall Allah guide a people who have disbelieved after their faith and [after] bearing witness that the Apostle is true, and [after] manifest proofs had come to them? Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُمْ أَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ لَعْنَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ
ˈulāˈika ǧazāˈuhum ˈanna ʿalayhim laʿnata llāhi wa-l-malāˈikati wa-n-nāsi ˈaǧmaʿīna
Their requital is that there shall be upon them the curse of Allah, the angels, and all mankind.
خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا لَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ
ḫālidīna fīhā lā yuḫaffafu ʿanhumu l-ʿaḏābu wa-lā hum yunẓarūna
They will remain in it [forever], and their punishment will not be lightened, nor will they be granted any respite,
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
ˈillā llaḏīna tābū min baʿdi ḏālika wa-ˈaṣlaḥū fa-ˈinna llāha ġafūrun raḥīmun
except such as repent after that and make amends, for Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِيمَـٰنِهِمْ ثُمَّ ٱزْدَادُوا۟ كُفْرًا لَّن تُقْبَلَ تَوْبَتُهُمْ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلضَّآلُّونَ
ˈinna llaḏīna kafarū baʿda ˈīmānihim ṯumma zdādū kufran lan tuqbala tawbatuhum wa-ˈulāˈika humu ḍ-ḍāllūna
Indeed those who turn faithless after their faith, and then advance in faithlessness, their repentance will never be accepted, and it is they who are the astray.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَمَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِم مِّلْءُ ٱلْأَرْضِ ذَهَبًا وَلَوِ ٱفْتَدَىٰ بِهِۦٓ ۗ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّـٰصِرِينَ
ˈinna llaḏīna kafarū wa-mātū wa-hum kuffārun fa-lan yuqbala min ˈaḥadihim milˈu l-ˈarḍi ḏahaban wa-lawi ftadā bihī ˈulāˈika lahum ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun wa-mā lahum min nāṣirīna
Indeed those who turn faithless and die while they are faithless, a world of gold will not be accepted from any of them should he offer it for ransom. For such there will be a painful punishment, and they will have no helpers.
لَن تَنَالُوا۟ ٱلْبِرَّ حَتَّىٰ تُنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِن شَىْءٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمٌ
lan tanālū l-birra ḥattā tunfiqū mimmā tuḥibbūna wa-mā tunfiqū min šayˈin fa-ˈinna llāha bihī ʿalīmun
You will never attain piety until you spend out of what you hold dear, and whatever you may spend of anything, Allah indeed knows it.
كُلُّ ٱلطَّعَامِ كَانَ حِلًّا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ إِلَّا مَا حَرَّمَ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تُنَزَّلَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ ۗ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ فَٱتْلُوهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
kullu ṭ-ṭaʿāmi kāna ḥillan li-banī ˈisrāˈīla ˈillā mā ḥarrama ˈisrāˈīlu ʿalā nafsihī min qabli ˈan tunazzala t-tawrātu qul fa-ˈtū bi-t-tawrāti fa-tlūhā ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna
All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel had forbidden himself before the Torah was sent down. Say, ‘Bring the Torah, and read it, if you are truthful.’
فَمَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
fa-mani ftarā ʿalā llāhi l-kaḏiba min baʿdi ḏālika fa-ˈulāˈika humu ẓ-ẓālimūna
So whoever fabricates a lie against Allah after that—it is they who are the wrongdoers.
قُلْ صَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ ۗ فَٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
qul ṣadaqa llāhu fa-ttabiʿū millata ˈibrāhīma ḥanīfan wa-mā kāna mina l-mušrikīna
Say, ‘Allah has spoken the truth; so follow the creed of Abraham, a Hanif, and he was not one of the polytheists.
إِنَّ أَوَّلَ بَيْتٍ وُضِعَ لِلنَّاسِ لَلَّذِى بِبَكَّةَ مُبَارَكًا وَهُدًى لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
ˈinna ˈawwala baytin wuḍiʿa li-n-nāsi la-llaḏī bi-bakkata mubārakan wa-hudan li-l-ʿālamīna
Indeed the first house to be set up for mankind is the one at Bakkah, blessed and a guidance for all nations.
فِيهِ ءَايَـٰتٌۢ بَيِّنَـٰتٌ مَّقَامُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ۖ وَمَن دَخَلَهُۥ كَانَ ءَامِنًا ۗ وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ حِجُّ ٱلْبَيْتِ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا ۚ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِىٌّ عَنِ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
fīhi ˈāyātun bayyinātun maqāmu ˈibrāhīma wa-man daḫalahū kāna ˈāminan wa-li-llāhi ʿalā n-nāsi ḥiǧǧu l-bayti mani staṭāʿa ˈilayhi sabīlan wa-man kafara fa-ˈinna llāha ġaniyyun ʿani l-ʿālamīna
In it are manifest signs [and] Abraham’s Station, and whoever enters it shall be secure. And it is the duty of mankind toward Allah to make pilgrimage to the House—for those who can afford the journey to it—and should anyone renege [on his obligation], Allah is indeed without need of the creatures.
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِمَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا تَعْمَلُونَ
qul yā-ˈahla l-kitābi li-ma takfurūna bi-ˈāyāti llāhi wa-llāhu šahīdun ʿalā mā taʿmalūna
Say, ‘O People of the Book! Why do you deny the signs of Allah, while Allah is witness to what you do?’
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لِمَ تَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ تَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا وَأَنتُمْ شُهَدَآءُ ۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
qul yā-ˈahla l-kitābi li-ma taṣuddūna ʿan sabīli llāhi man ˈāmana tabġūnahā ʿiwaǧan wa-ˈantum šuhadāˈu wa-mā llāhu bi-ġāfilin ʿammā taʿmalūna
Say, ‘O People of the Book! why do you bar the faithful from the way of Allah, seeking to make it crooked, while you are witnesses [to its truthfulness]? And Allah is not oblivious of what you do.’
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ فَرِيقًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَرُدُّوكُم بَعْدَ إِيمَـٰنِكُمْ كَـٰفِرِينَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ˈin tuṭīʿū farīqan mina llaḏīna ˈūtū l-kitāba yaruddūkum baʿda ˈīmānikum kāfirīna
O you who have faith, if you obey a part of those who were given the Book, they will turn you back, after your faith, into faithless ones.
وَكَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ وَأَنتُمْ تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ وَفِيكُمْ رَسُولُهُۥ ۗ وَمَن يَعْتَصِم بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ هُدِىَ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
wa-kayfa takfurūna wa-ˈantum tutlā ʿalaykum ˈāyātu llāhi wa-fīkum rasūluhū wa-man yaʿtaṣim bi-llāhi fa-qad hudiya ˈilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin
And how would you be faithless while the signs of Allah are recited to you and His Apostle is in your midst? Whoever takes recourse in Allah is certainly guided to a straight path.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِۦ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ttaqū llāha ḥaqqa tuqātihī wa-lā tamūtunna ˈillā wa-ˈantum muslimūna
O you who have faith! Be wary of Allah with the wariness due to Him and do not die except as Muslims.
وَٱعْتَصِمُوا۟ بِحَبْلِ ٱللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا۟ ۚ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنتُمْ أَعْدَآءً فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم بِنِعْمَتِهِۦٓ إِخْوَٰنًا وَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ فَأَنقَذَكُم مِّنْهَا ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ
wa-ʿtaṣimū bi-ḥabli llāhi ǧamīʿan wa-lā tafarraqū wa-ḏkurū niʿmata llāhi ʿalaykum ˈiḏ kuntum ˈaʿdāˈan fa-ˈallafa bayna qulūbikum fa-ˈaṣbaḥtum bi-niʿmatihī ˈiḫwānan wa-kuntum ʿalā šafā ḥufratin mina n-nāri fa-ˈanqaḏakum minhā ka-ḏālika yubayyinu llāhu lakum ˈāyātihī laʿallakum tahtadūna
Hold fast, all together, to Allah’s cord, and do not be divided [into sects]. Remember Allah’s blessing upon you when you were enemies, then He brought your hearts together, so you became brothers with His blessing. And you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, whereat He saved you from it. Thus does Allah clarify His signs for you so that you may be guided.
وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ ۚ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
wa-l-takun minkum ˈummatun yadʿūna ˈilā l-ḫayri wa-yaˈmurūna bi-l-maʿrūfi wa-yanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-ˈulāˈika humu l-mufliḥūna
There has to be a nation among you summoning to the good, bidding what is right, and forbidding what is wrong. It is they who are the felicitous.
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ تَفَرَّقُوا۟ وَٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُ ۚ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
wa-lā takūnū ka-llaḏīna tafarraqū wa-ḫtalafū min baʿdi mā ǧāˈahumu l-bayyinātu wa-ˈulāˈika lahum ʿaḏābun ʿaẓīmun
Do not be like those who became divided [into sects] and differed after manifest signs had come to them. For such there will be a great punishment
يَوْمَ تَبْيَضُّ وُجُوهٌ وَتَسْوَدُّ وُجُوهٌ ۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْوَدَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ أَكَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَـٰنِكُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
yawma tabyaḍḍu wuǧūhun wa-taswaddu wuǧūhun fa-ˈammā llaḏīna swaddat wuǧūhuhum ˈa-kafartum baʿda ˈīmānikum fa-ḏūqū l-ʿaḏāba bi-mā kuntum takfurūna
on the day when [some] faces will turn white and [some] faces will turn black. As for those whose faces turn black [it will be said to them], ‘Did you disbelieve after your faith? So taste the punishment because of what you used to disbelieve.’
وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱبْيَضَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فَفِى رَحْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
wa-ˈammā llaḏīna byaḍḍat wuǧūhuhum fa-fī raḥmati llāhi hum fīhā ḫālidūna
But as for those whose faces become white, they shall dwell in Allah’s mercy, and they will remain in it [forever].
تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًا لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
tilka ˈāyātu llāhi natlūhā ʿalayka bi-l-ḥaqqi wa-mā llāhu yurīdu ẓulman li-l-ʿālamīna
These are the signs of Allah, which We recite to you in truth, and Allah does not desire any wrong for the creatures.
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ
wa-li-llāhi mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ˈarḍi wa-ˈilā llāhi turǧaʿu l-ˈumūru
To Allah belongs whatever there is in the heavens and the earth, and to Allah all matters are returned.
كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ ۗ وَلَوْ ءَامَنَ أَهْلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُم ۚ مِّنْهُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ
kuntum ḫayra ˈummatin ˈuḫriǧat li-n-nāsi taˈmurūna bi-l-maʿrūfi wa-tanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-tuˈminūna bi-l-llāhi wa-law ˈāmana ˈahlu l-kitābi la-kāna ḫayran lahum minhumu l-muˈminūna wa-ˈakṯaruhumu l-fāsiqūna
You are the best nation [ever] brought forth for mankind: you bid what is right and forbid what is wrong, and have faith in Allah. And if the People of the Book had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them [some] are faithful, but most of them are transgressors.
لَن يَضُرُّوكُمْ إِلَّآ أَذًى ۖ وَإِن يُقَـٰتِلُوكُمْ يُوَلُّوكُمُ ٱلْأَدْبَارَ ثُمَّ لَا يُنصَرُونَ
lan yaḍurrūkum ˈillā ˈaḏan wa-ˈin yuqātilūkum yuwallūkumu l-ˈadbāra ṯumma lā yunṣarūna
They will never do you any harm, except for some hurt; and if they fight you, they will turn their backs [to flee], then they will not be helped.
ضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ أَيْنَ مَا ثُقِفُوٓا۟ إِلَّا بِحَبْلٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَحَبْلٍ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ
ḍuribat ʿalayhimu ḏ-ḏillatu ˈayna mā ṯuqifū ˈillā bi-ḥablin mina llāhi wa-ḥablin mina n-nāsi wa-bāˈū bi-ġaḍabin mina llāhi wa-ḍuribat ʿalayhimu l-maskanatu ḏālika bi-ˈannahum kānū yakfurūna bi-ˈāyāti llāhi wa-yaqtulūna l-ˈanbiyāˈa bi-ġayri ḥaqqin ḏālika bi-mā ʿaṣaw wa-kānū yaʿtadūna
Wherever they are found, abasement is stamped upon them, except for an asylum from Allah and an asylum from the people. They have earned the wrath of Allah, and poverty has been stamped upon them. That, because they would deny the signs of Allah and kill the prophets unjustly. That, because they would disobey and commit transgression.
لَيْسُوا۟ سَوَآءً ۗ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ أُمَّةٌ قَآئِمَةٌ يَتْلُونَ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ءَانَآءَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَهُمْ يَسْجُدُونَ
laysū sawāˈan min ˈahli l-kitābi ˈummatun qāˈimatun yatlūna ˈāyāti llāhi ˈānāˈa l-layli wa-hum yasǧudūna
Yet they are not all alike. Among the People of the Book is an upright nation; they recite Allah’s signs in the watches of the night and prostrate.
يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
yuˈminūna bi-llāhi wa-l-yawmi l-ˈāḫiri wa-yaˈmurūna bi-l-maʿrūfi wa-yanhawna ʿani l-munkari wa-yusāriʿūna fī l-ḫayrāti wa-ˈulāˈika mina ṣ-ṣāliḥīna
They have faith in Allah and the Last Day, and bid what is right and forbid what is wrong, and they are active in [performing] good deeds. Those are among the righteous.
وَمَا يَفْعَلُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَلَن يُكْفَرُوهُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
wa-mā yafʿalū min ḫayrin fa-lan yukfarūhu wa-llāhu ʿalīmun bi-l-muttaqīna
Whatever good they do, they will not go unappreciated for it, and Allah knows well the Godwary.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَن تُغْنِىَ عَنْهُمْ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَـٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۚ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
ˈinna llaḏīna kafarū lan tuġniya ʿanhum ˈamwāluhum wa-lā ˈawlāduhum mina llāhi šayˈan wa-ˈulāˈika ˈaṣḥābu n-nāri hum fīhā ḫālidūna
As for the faithless, neither their wealth nor their children will avail them anything against Allah. They shall be the inmates of the Fire and remain in it [forever].
مَثَلُ مَا يُنفِقُونَ فِى هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا كَمَثَلِ رِيحٍ فِيهَا صِرٌّ أَصَابَتْ حَرْثَ قَوْمٍ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَأَهْلَكَتْهُ ۚ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَـٰكِنْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
maṯalu mā yunfiqūna fī hāḏihi l-ḥayāti d-dunyā ka-maṯali rīḥin fīhā ṣirrun ˈaṣābat ḥarṯa qawmin ẓalamū ˈanfusahum fa-ˈahlakathu wa-mā ẓalamahumu llāhu wa-lākin ˈanfusahum yaẓlimūna
The parable of what they spend in the life of this world is that of a cold wind that strikes the tillage of a people who wronged themselves, destroying it. Allah does not wrong them, but they wrong themselves.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ بِطَانَةً مِّن دُونِكُمْ لَا يَأْلُونَكُمْ خَبَالًا وَدُّوا۟ مَا عَنِتُّمْ قَدْ بَدَتِ ٱلْبَغْضَآءُ مِنْ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَمَا تُخْفِى صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ ۚ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā tattaḫiḏū biṭānatan min dūnikum lā yaˈlūnakum ḫabālan waddū mā ʿanittum qad badati l-baġḍāˈu min ˈafwāhihim wa-mā tuḫfī ṣudūruhum ˈakbaru qad bayyannā lakumu l-ˈāyāti ˈin kuntum taʿqilūna
O you who have faith! Do not take your confidants from others than yourselves; they will spare nothing to ruin you. They are eager to see you in distress. Hatred has already shown itself from their mouths, and what their breasts hide [within] is yet worse. We have certainly made the signs clear for you, should you exercise your reason.
هَـٰٓأَنتُمْ أُو۟لَآءِ تُحِبُّونَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِبُّونَكُمْ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْكِتَـٰبِ كُلِّهِۦ وَإِذَا لَقُوكُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَوْا۟ عَضُّوا۟ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْأَنَامِلَ مِنَ ٱلْغَيْظِ ۚ قُلْ مُوتُوا۟ بِغَيْظِكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
hā-ˈantum ˈulāˈi tuḥibbūnahum wa-lā yuḥibbūnakum wa-tuˈminūna bi-l-kitābi kullihī wa-ˈiḏā laqūkum qālū ˈāmannā wa-ˈiḏā ḫalaw ʿaḍḍū ʿalaykumu l-ˈanāmila mina l-ġayẓi qul mūtū bi-ġayẓikum ˈinna llāha ʿalīmun bi-ḏāti ṣ-ṣudūri
Ah! You are the ones who bear love towards them, while they do not love you, though you believe in all the Books. When they meet you, they say, ‘We believe,’ but when they are alone, they bite their fingertips at you out of rage. Say, ‘Die of your rage!’ Indeed Allah knows well what is in the breasts.
إِن تَمْسَسْكُمْ حَسَنَةٌ تَسُؤْهُمْ وَإِن تُصِبْكُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَفْرَحُوا۟ بِهَا ۖ وَإِن تَصْبِرُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ
ˈin tamsaskum ḥasanatun tasuˈhum wa-ˈin tuṣibkum sayyiˈatun yafraḥū bihā wa-ˈin taṣbirū wa-tattaqū lā yaḍurrukum kayduhum šayˈan ˈinna llāha bi-mā yaʿmalūna muḥīṭun
If some good should befall you, it upsets them, but if some ill befalls you, they rejoice at it. Yet if you are patient and Godwary, their guile will not harm you in any way. Indeed Allah encompasses what they do.
وَإِذْ غَدَوْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ تُبَوِّئُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَقَـٰعِدَ لِلْقِتَالِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
wa-ˈiḏ ġadawta min ˈahlika tubawwiˈu l-muˈminīna maqāʿida li-l-qitāli wa-llāhu samīʿun ʿalīmun
When you left your family at dawn to settle the faithful in their positions for battle —and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.
إِذْ هَمَّت طَّآئِفَتَانِ مِنكُمْ أَن تَفْشَلَا وَٱللَّهُ وَلِيُّهُمَا ۗ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
ˈiḏ hammat ṭāˈifatāni minkum ˈan tafšalā wa-llāhu waliyyuhumā wa-ʿalā llāhi fa-l-yatawakkali l-muˈminūna
When two groups among you were about to lose courage—though Allah is their guardian, and in Allah let all the faithful put their trust.
وَلَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِبَدْرٍ وَأَنتُمْ أَذِلَّةٌ ۖ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
wa-la-qad naṣarakumu llāhu bi-badrin wa-ˈantum ˈaḏillatun fa-ttaqū llāha laʿallakum taškurūna
Certainly Allah helped you at Badr, when you were weak [in the enemy’s eyes]. So be wary of Allah so that you may give thanks.
إِذْ تَقُولُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَلَن يَكْفِيَكُمْ أَن يُمِدَّكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِثَلَـٰثَةِ ءَالَـٰفٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ مُنزَلِينَ
ˈiḏ taqūlu li-l-muˈminīna ˈa-lan yakfiyakum ˈan yumiddakum rabbukum bi-ṯalāṯati ˈālāfin mina l-malāˈikati munzalīna
When you were saying to the faithful, ‘Is it not enough for you that your Lord should aid you with three thousand angels sent down?’
بَلَىٰٓ ۚ إِن تَصْبِرُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ وَيَأْتُوكُم مِّن فَوْرِهِمْ هَـٰذَا يُمْدِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِخَمْسَةِ ءَالَـٰفٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ مُسَوِّمِينَ
balā ˈin taṣbirū wa-tattaqū wa-yaˈtūkum min fawrihim hāḏā yumdidkum rabbukum bi-ḫamsati ˈālāfin mina l-malāˈikati musawwimīna
Yes, if you are steadfast and Godwary, and should they come at you suddenly, your Lord will aid you with five thousand angels sent in [to the scene of battle].
وَمَا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْرَىٰ لَكُمْ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُكُم بِهِۦ ۗ وَمَا ٱلنَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
wa-mā ǧaʿalahu llāhu ˈillā bušrā lakum wa-li-taṭmaˈinna qulūbukum bihī wa-mā n-naṣru ˈillā min ʿindi llāhi l-ʿazīzi l-ḥakīmi
Allah did not appoint it but as a good news for you and to reassure with it your hearts; and victory comes only from Allah, the All-mighty, the All-wise,
لِيَقْطَعَ طَرَفًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَوْ يَكْبِتَهُمْ فَيَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَآئِبِينَ
li-yaqṭaʿa ṭarafan mina llaḏīna kafarū ˈaw yakbitahum fa-yanqalibū ḫāˈibīna
that He may cut down a section of the faithless, or subdue them, so that they retreat disappointed.
لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَـٰلِمُونَ
laysa laka mina l-ˈamri šayˈun ˈaw yatūba ʿalayhim ˈaw yuʿaḏḏibahum fa-ˈinnahum ẓālimūna
You have no hand in the matter, whether He accepts their repentance or punishes them, for they are indeed wrongdoers.
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
wa-li-llāhi mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ˈarḍi yaġfiru li-man yašāˈu wa-yuʿaḏḏibu man yašāˈu wa-llāhu ġafūrun raḥīmun
To Allah belongs whatever there is in the heavens and the earth: He forgives whomever He wishes and punishes whomever He wishes, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَأْكُلُوا۟ ٱلرِّبَوٰٓا۟ أَضْعَـٰفًا مُّضَـٰعَفَةً ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā taˈkulū r-ribā ˈaḍʿāfan muḍāʿafatan wa-ttaqū llāha laʿallakum tufliḥūna
O you who have faith! Do not exact usury, twofold and severalfold, and be wary of Allah so that you may be felicitous.
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
wa-ttaqū n-nāra llatī ˈuʿiddat li-l-kāfirīna
Beware of the Fire, which has been prepared for the faithless,
وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
wa-ˈaṭīʿū llāha wa-r-rasūla laʿallakum turḥamūna
and obey Allah and the Apostle so that you may be granted [His] mercy.
وَسَارِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
wa-sāriʿū ˈilā maġfiratin min rabbikum wa-ǧannatin ʿarḍuhā s-samāwātu wa-l-ˈarḍu ˈuʿiddat li-l-muttaqīna
Hasten towards your Lord’s forgiveness and a paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the Godwary
ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ فِى ٱلسَّرَّآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَٱلْكَـٰظِمِينَ ٱلْغَيْظَ وَٱلْعَافِينَ عَنِ ٱلنَّاسِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
allaḏīna yunfiqūna fī s-sarrāˈi wa-ḍ-ḍarrāˈi wa-l-kāẓimīna l-ġayẓa wa-l-ʿāfīna ʿani n-nāsi wa-llāhu yuḥibbu l-muḥsinīna
—those who spend in ease and adversity, and suppress their anger, and excuse [the faults of] the people, and Allah loves the virtuous;
وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُوا۟ فَـٰحِشَةً أَوْ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ ذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ لِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَن يَغْفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَلَمْ يُصِرُّوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ
wa-llaḏīna ˈiḏā faʿalū fāḥišatan ˈaw ẓalamū ˈanfusahum ḏakarū llāha fa-staġfarū li-ḏunūbihim wa-man yaġfiru ḏ-ḏunūba ˈillā llāhu wa-lam yuṣirrū ʿalā mā faʿalū wa-hum yaʿlamūna
and those who, when they commit an indecent act or wrong themselves, remember Allah, and plead [to Allah seeking His] forgiveness for their sins—and who forgives sins except Allah?—and who knowingly do not persist in what [sins] they have committed.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَجَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَنِعْمَ أَجْرُ ٱلْعَـٰمِلِينَ
ˈulāˈika ǧazāˈuhum maġfiratun min rabbihim wa-ǧannātun taǧrī min taḥtihā l-ˈanhāru ḫālidīna fīhā wa-niʿma ˈaǧru l-ʿāmilīna
Their reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever]. How excellent is the reward of the workers!
قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ سُنَنٌ فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
qad ḫalat min qablikum sunanun fa-sīrū fī l-ˈarḍi fa-nẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukaḏḏibīna
Certain [Divine] precedents have passed before you. So travel through the land and observe how was the fate of the deniers.
هَـٰذَا بَيَانٌ لِّلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
hāḏā bayānun li-n-nāsi wa-hudan wa-mawʿiẓatun li-l-muttaqīna
This is an explanation for mankind, and a guidance and advice for the Godwary.
وَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا۟ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
wa-lā tahinū wa-lā taḥzanū wa-ˈantumu l-ˈaʿlawna ˈin kuntum muˈminīna
Do not weaken or grieve: you shall have the upper hand, should you be faithful.
إِن يَمْسَسْكُمْ قَرْحٌ فَقَدْ مَسَّ ٱلْقَوْمَ قَرْحٌ مِّثْلُهُۥ ۚ وَتِلْكَ ٱلْأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَيَتَّخِذَ مِنكُمْ شُهَدَآءَ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
ˈin yamsaskum qarḥun fa-qad massa l-qawma qarḥun miṯluhū wa-tilka l-ˈayyāmu nudāwiluhā bayna n-nāsi wa-li-yaʿlama llāhu llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-yattaḫiḏa minkum šuhadāˈa wa-llāhu lā yuḥibbu ẓ-ẓālimīna
If wounds afflict you, like wounds have already afflicted those people; and We make such vicissitudes rotate among mankind, so that Allah may ascertain those who have faith, and that He may take martyrs from among you, and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.
وَلِيُمَحِّصَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَيَمْحَقَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
wa-li-yumaḥḥiṣa llāhu llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-yamḥaqa l-kāfirīna
And so that Allah may purge [the hearts of] those who have faith and that He may wipe out the faithless.
أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تَدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَـٰهَدُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَيَعْلَمَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
ˈam ḥasibtum ˈan tadḫulū l-ǧannata wa-lammā yaʿlami llāhu llaḏīna ǧāhadū minkum wa-yaʿlama ṣ-ṣābirīna
Do you suppose that you would enter paradise, while Allah has not yet ascertained those of you who have waged jihad and He has not ascertained the steadfast?
وَلَقَدْ كُنتُمْ تَمَنَّوْنَ ٱلْمَوْتَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَلْقَوْهُ فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ
wa-la-qad kuntum tamannawna l-mawta min qabli ˈan talqawhu fa-qad raˈaytumūhu wa-ˈantum tanẓurūna
Certainly you were longing for death before you had encountered it. Then certainly, you saw it, as you were looking on.
وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ ۚ أَفَإِي۟ن مَّاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ ۚ وَمَن يَنقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَن يَضُرَّ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًٔا ۗ وَسَيَجْزِى ٱللَّهُ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
wa-mā muḥammadun ˈillā rasūlun qad ḫalat min qablihi r-rusulu ˈa-fa-ˈin māta ˈaw qutila nqalabtum ʿalā ˈaʿqābikum wa-man yanqalib ʿalā ʿaqibayhi fa-lan yaḍurra llāha šayˈan wa-sa-yaǧzī llāhu š-šākirīna
Muhammad is but an apostle; [other] apostles have passed before him. If he dies or is slain, will you turn back on your heels? Anyone who turns back on his heels, will not harm Allah in the least, and soon Allah will reward the grateful.
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفْسٍ أَن تَمُوتَ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ كِتَـٰبًا مُّؤَجَّلًا ۗ وَمَن يُرِدْ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهِۦ مِنْهَا وَمَن يُرِدْ ثَوَابَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ نُؤْتِهِۦ مِنْهَا ۚ وَسَنَجْزِى ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
wa-mā kāna li-nafsin ˈan tamūta ˈillā bi-ˈiḏni llāhi kitāban muˈaǧǧalan wa-man yurid ṯawāba d-dunyā nuˈtihī minhā wa-man yurid ṯawāba l-ˈāḫirati nuˈtihī minhā wa-sa-naǧzī š-šākirīna
No soul may die except by Allah’s leave, at an appointed time. Whoever desires the reward of this world, We will give him of it; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We will give him of it; and soon We will reward the grateful.
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن نَّبِىٍّ قَـٰتَلَ مَعَهُۥ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٌ فَمَا وَهَنُوا۟ لِمَآ أَصَابَهُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا ضَعُفُوا۟ وَمَا ٱسْتَكَانُوا۟ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
wa-ka-ˈayyin min nabiyyin qātala maʿahū ribbiyyūna kaṯīrun fa-mā wahanū li-mā ˈaṣābahum fī sabīli llāhi wa-mā ḍaʿufū wa-mā stakānū wa-llāhu yuḥibbu ṣ-ṣābirīna
How many a prophet there has been with whom a multitude of godly men fought. They did not falter for what befell them in the way of Allah, neither did they weaken, nor did they abase themselves; and Allah loves the steadfast.
وَمَا كَانَ قَوْلَهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا ٱغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِىٓ أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَٱنصُرْنَا عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
wa-mā kāna qawlahum ˈillā ˈan qālū rabbanā ġfir lanā ḏunūbanā wa-ˈisrāfanā fī ˈamrinā wa-ṯabbit ˈaqdāmanā wa-nṣurnā ʿalā l-qawmi l-kāfirīna
All that they said was, ‘Our Lord, forgive us our sins and our excesses in our affairs, make our feet steady, and help us against the faithless lot.’
فَـَٔاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ثَوَابَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَحُسْنَ ثَوَابِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
fa-ˈātāhumu llāhu ṯawāba d-dunyā wa-ḥusna ṯawābi l-ˈāḫirati wa-llāhu yuḥibbu l-muḥsinīna
So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the fair reward of the Hereafter; and Allah loves the virtuous.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَرُدُّوكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَـٰبِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَـٰسِرِينَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ˈin tuṭīʿū llaḏīna kafarū yaruddūkum ʿalā ˈaʿqābikum fa-tanqalibū ḫāsirīna
O you who have faith! If you obey the faithless, they will turn you back on your heels, and you will become losers.
بَلِ ٱللَّهُ مَوْلَىٰكُمْ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلنَّـٰصِرِينَ
bali llāhu mawlākum wa-huwa ḫayru n-nāṣirīna
Indeed, Allah is your Master, and He is the best of helpers.
سَنُلْقِى فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلرُّعْبَ بِمَآ أَشْرَكُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ سُلْطَـٰنًا ۖ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ ۚ وَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
sa-nulqī fī qulūbi llaḏīna kafarū r-ruʿba bi-mā ˈašrakū bi-llāhi mā lam yunazzil bihī sulṭānan wa-maˈwāhumu n-nāru wa-biˈsa maṯwā ẓ-ẓālimīna
We shall cast terror into the hearts of the faithless because of their ascribing partners to Allah, for which He has not sent down any authority, and their refuge shall be the Fire, and evil is the [final] abode of the wrongdoers.
وَلَقَدْ صَدَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَعْدَهُۥٓ إِذْ تَحُسُّونَهُم بِإِذْنِهِۦ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَشِلْتُمْ وَتَنَـٰزَعْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْرِ وَعَصَيْتُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَرَىٰكُم مَّا تُحِبُّونَ ۚ مِنكُم مَّن يُرِيدُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُرِيدُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۚ ثُمَّ صَرَفَكُمْ عَنْهُمْ لِيَبْتَلِيَكُمْ ۖ وَلَقَدْ عَفَا عَنكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wa-la-qad ṣadaqakumu llāhu waʿdahū ˈiḏ taḥussūnahum bi-ˈiḏnihī ḥattā ˈiḏā fašiltum wa-tanāzaʿtum fī l-ˈamri wa-ʿaṣaytum min baʿdi mā ˈarākum mā tuḥibbūna minkum man yurīdu d-dunyā wa-minkum man yurīdu l-ˈāḫirata ṯumma ṣarafakum ʿanhum li-yabtaliyakum wa-la-qad ʿafā ʿankum wa-llāhu ḏū faḍlin ʿalā l-muˈminīna
Allah certainly fulfilled His promise to you when you were slaying them with His leave, until you lost courage, disputed about the matter, and disobeyed after He showed you what you loved. Some among you desire this world, and some among you desire the Hereafter. Then He turned you away from them so that He might test you. Certainly He has excused you, for Allah is gracious to the faithful.
إِذْ تُصْعِدُونَ وَلَا تَلْوُۥنَ عَلَىٰٓ أَحَدٍ وَٱلرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ فِىٓ أُخْرَىٰكُمْ فَأَثَـٰبَكُمْ غَمًّۢا بِغَمٍّ لِّكَيْلَا تَحْزَنُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلَا مَآ أَصَـٰبَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
ˈiḏ tuṣʿidūna wa-lā talwūna ʿalā ˈaḥadin wa-r-rasūlu yadʿūkum fī ˈuḫrākum fa-ˈaṯābakum ġamman bi-ġammin li-kay-lā taḥzanū ʿalā mā fātakum wa-lā mā ˈaṣābakum wa-llāhu ḫabīrun bi-mā taʿmalūna
When you were fleeing without paying any attention to anyone, while the Apostle was calling you from your rear, He requited you with grief upon grief, so that you may not grieve for what you lose nor for what befalls you, and Allah is well aware of what you do.
ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلْغَمِّ أَمَنَةً نُّعَاسًا يَغْشَىٰ طَآئِفَةً مِّنكُمْ ۖ وَطَآئِفَةٌ قَدْ أَهَمَّتْهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّهِ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ ظَنَّ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ ۖ يَقُولُونَ هَل لَّنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ مِن شَىْءٍ ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَمْرَ كُلَّهُۥ لِلَّهِ ۗ يُخْفُونَ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِم مَّا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَ ۖ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ مَّا قُتِلْنَا هَـٰهُنَا ۗ قُل لَّوْ كُنتُمْ فِى بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَتْلُ إِلَىٰ مَضَاجِعِهِمْ ۖ وَلِيَبْتَلِىَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
ṯumma ˈanzala ʿalaykum min baʿdi l-ġammi ˈamanatan nuʿāsan yaġšā ṭāˈifatan minkum wa-ṭāˈifatun qad ˈahammathum ˈanfusuhum yaẓunnūna bi-llāhi ġayra l-ḥaqqi ẓanna l-ǧāhiliyyati yaqūlūna hal lanā mina l-ˈamri min šayˈin qul ˈinna l-ˈamra kullahū li-llāhi yuḫfūna fī ˈanfusihim mā lā yubdūna laka yaqūlūna law kāna lanā mina l-ˈamri šayˈun mā qutilnā hāhunā qul law kuntum fī buyūtikum la-baraza llaḏīna kutiba ʿalayhimu l-qatlu ˈilā maḍāǧiʿihim wa-li-yabtaliya llāhu mā fī ṣudūrikum wa-li-yumaḥḥiṣa mā fī qulūbikum wa-llāhu ʿalīmun bi-ḏāti ṣ-ṣudūri
Then He sent down to you safety after grief—a drowsiness that came over a group of you—while another group, anxious only about themselves, entertained false notions about Allah, notions of [pagan] ignorance. They say, ‘Do we have any role in the matter?’ Say, ‘Indeed the matter belongs totally to Allah.’ They hide in their hearts what they do not disclose to you. They say, ‘Had we any role in the matter, we would not have been slain here.’ Say, ‘Even if you had remained in your houses, those destined to be slain would have set out toward the places where they were laid to rest, so that Allah may test what is in your breasts, and that He may purge what is in your hearts, and Allah knows well what is in the breasts.’
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْا۟ مِنكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْتَقَى ٱلْجَمْعَانِ إِنَّمَا ٱسْتَزَلَّهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بِبَعْضِ مَا كَسَبُوا۟ ۖ وَلَقَدْ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ
ˈinna llaḏīna tawallaw minkum yawma ltaqā l-ǧamʿāni ˈinnamā stazallahumu š-šayṭānu bi-baʿḍi mā kasabū wa-la-qad ʿafā llāhu ʿanhum ˈinna llāha ġafūrun ḥalīmun
Those of you who fled on the day when the two hosts met, only Satan had made them stumble because of some of their deeds. Certainly, Allah has excused them, for Allah is all-forgiving, all-forbearing.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ إِذَا ضَرَبُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ كَانُوا۟ غُزًّى لَّوْ كَانُوا۟ عِندَنَا مَا مَاتُوا۟ وَمَا قُتِلُوا۟ لِيَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ ذَٰلِكَ حَسْرَةً فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā takūnū ka-llaḏīna kafarū wa-qālū li-ˈiḫwānihim ˈiḏā ḍarabū fī l-ˈarḍi ˈaw kānū ġuzzan law kānū ʿindanā mā mātū wa-mā qutilū li-yaǧʿala llāhu ḏālika ḥasratan fī qulūbihim wa-llāhu yuḥyī wa-yumītu wa-llāhu bi-mā taʿmalūna baṣīrun
O you who have faith! Do not be like the faithless who say of their brethren, when they travel in the land or go into battle, ‘Had they stayed with us they would not have died or been killed,’ so that Allah may make it a regret in their hearts. But Allah gives life and brings death, and Allah watches what you do.
وَلَئِن قُتِلْتُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ مُتُّمْ لَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَحْمَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ
wa-la-ˈin qutiltum fī sabīli llāhi ˈaw muttum la-maġfiratun mina llāhi wa-raḥmatun ḫayrun mimmā yaǧmaʿūna
If you are slain in the way of Allah, or die, forgiveness and mercy from Allah are surely better than what they amass.
وَلَئِن مُّتُّمْ أَوْ قُتِلْتُمْ لَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
wa-la-ˈin muttum ˈaw qutiltum la-ˈilā llāhi tuḥšarūna
If you die or are slain, you will surely be mustered toward Allah.
فَبِمَا رَحْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لِنتَ لَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ كُنتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ ٱلْقَلْبِ لَٱنفَضُّوا۟ مِنْ حَوْلِكَ ۖ فَٱعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَشَاوِرْهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْرِ ۖ فَإِذَا عَزَمْتَ فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلِينَ
fa-bi-mā raḥmatin mina llāhi linta lahum wa-law kunta faẓẓan ġalīẓa l-qalbi la-nfaḍḍū min ḥawlika fa-ʿfu ʿanhum wa-staġfir lahum wa-šāwirhum fī l-ˈamri fa-ˈiḏā ʿazamta fa-tawakkal ʿalā llāhi ˈinna llāha yuḥibbu l-mutawakkilīna
It is by Allah’s mercy that you are gentle to them; had you been harsh and hardhearted, they would have surely scattered from around you. So excuse them and plead for forgiveness for them, and consult them in the affairs, and once you are resolved, put your trust in Allah. Indeed Allah loves those who trust in Him.
إِن يَنصُرْكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فَلَا غَالِبَ لَكُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَخْذُلْكُمْ فَمَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَنصُرُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ ۗ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
ˈin yanṣurkumu llāhu fa-lā ġāliba lakum wa-ˈin yaḫḏulkum fa-man ḏā llaḏī yanṣurukum min baʿdihī wa-ʿalā llāhi fa-l-yatawakkali l-muˈminūna
If Allah helps you, no one can overcome you, but if He forsakes you, who will help you after Him? So in Allah let all the faithful put their trust.
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَبِىٍّ أَن يَغُلَّ ۚ وَمَن يَغْلُلْ يَأْتِ بِمَا غَلَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
wa-mā kāna li-nabiyyin ˈan yaġulla wa-man yaġlul yaˈti bi-mā ġalla yawma l-qiyāmati ṯumma tuwaffā kullu nafsin mā kasabat wa-hum lā yuẓlamūna
A prophet may not breach his trust, and whoever breaches his trust will bring his breaches on the Day of Resurrection; then every soul shall be recompensed fully for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged.
أَفَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ رِضْوَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ كَمَنۢ بَآءَ بِسَخَطٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَأْوَىٰهُ جَهَنَّمُ ۚ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
ˈa-fa-mani ttabaʿa riḍwāna llāhi ka-man bāˈa bi-saḫaṭin mina llāhi wa-maˈwāhu ǧahannamu wa-biˈsa l-maṣīru
Is he who follows [the course of] Allah’s pleasure like him who earns Allah’s displeasure and whose refuge is hell, an evil destination?
هُمْ دَرَجَـٰتٌ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرٌۢ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ
hum daraǧātun ʿinda llāhi wa-llāhu baṣīrun bi-mā yaʿmalūna
They have ranks with Allah, and Allah watches what they do.
لَقَدْ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ بَعَثَ فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
la-qad manna llāhu ʿalā l-muˈminīna ˈiḏ baʿaṯa fīhim rasūlan min ˈanfusihim yatlū ʿalayhim ˈāyātihī wa-yuzakkīhim wa-yuʿallimuhumu l-kitāba wa-l-ḥikmata wa-ˈin kānū min qablu la-fī ḍalālin mubīnin
Allah certainly favoured the faithful when He raised up among them an apostle from among themselves to recite to them His signs and to purify them and teach them the Book and wisdom, and earlier they had indeed been in manifest error.
أَوَلَمَّآ أَصَـٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَدْ أَصَبْتُم مِّثْلَيْهَا قُلْتُمْ أَنَّىٰ هَـٰذَا ۖ قُلْ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
ˈa-wa-lammā ˈaṣābatkum muṣībatun qad ˈaṣabtum miṯlayhā qultum ˈannā hāḏā qul huwa min ʿindi ˈanfusikum ˈinna llāha ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
What, when an affliction visits you—while you have inflicted twice as much—do you say, ‘How is this?’! Say, ‘This is from your own souls.’ Indeed Allah has power over all things.
وَمَآ أَصَـٰبَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْتَقَى ٱلْجَمْعَانِ فَبِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wa-mā ˈaṣābakum yawma ltaqā l-ǧamʿāni fa-bi-ˈiḏni llāhi wa-li-yaʿlama l-muˈminīna
What befell you on the day when the two hosts met, was by Allah’s permission, so that He may ascertain the faithful,
وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُوا۟ ۚ وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ قَـٰتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوِ ٱدْفَعُوا۟ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالًا لَّٱتَّبَعْنَـٰكُمْ ۗ هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَقْرَبُ مِنْهُمْ لِلْإِيمَـٰنِ ۚ يَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُونَ
wa-li-yaʿlama llaḏīna nāfaqū wa-qīla lahum taʿālaw qātilū fī sabīli llāhi ˈawi dfaʿū qālū law naʿlamu qitālan la-ttabaʿnākum hum li-l-kufri yawmaˈiḏin ˈaqrabu minhum li-l-ˈīmāni yaqūlūna bi-ˈafwāhihim mā laysa fī qulūbihim wa-llāhu ˈaʿlamu bi-mā yaktumūna
and ascertain the hypocrites. [When] they were told: ‘Come, fight in the way of Allah, or defend [yourselves], they said, ‘If we knew any fighting, we would have surely followed you.’ That day they were nearer to unfaith than to faith. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, and Allah knows well whatever they conceal.
ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُوا۟ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُوا۟ ۗ قُلْ فَٱدْرَءُوا۟ عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
allaḏīna qālū li-ˈiḫwānihim wa-qaʿadū law ˈaṭāʿūnā mā qutilū qul fa-draˈū ʿan ˈanfusikumu l-mawta ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna
Those who said of their brethren, while they themselves sat back: ‘Had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed.’ Say, ‘Then keep death off from yourselves, if you are truthful.’
وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَمْوَٰتًۢا ۚ بَلْ أَحْيَآءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ
wa-lā taḥsabanna llaḏīna qutilū fī sabīli llāhi ˈamwātan bal ˈaḥyāˈun ʿinda rabbihim yurzaqūna
Do not suppose those who were slain in the way of Allah to be dead; no, they are living and provided for near their Lord,
فَرِحِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِم مِّنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
fariḥīna bi-mā ˈātāhumu llāhu min faḍlihī wa-yastabširūna bi-llaḏīna lam yalḥaqū bihim min ḫalfihim ˈallā ḫawfun ʿalayhim wa-lā hum yaḥzanūna
exulting in what Allah has given them out of His grace, and rejoicing for those who have not yet joined them from [those left] behind them, that they will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
yastabširūna bi-niʿmatin mina llāhi wa-faḍlin wa-ˈanna llāha lā yuḍīʿu ˈaǧra l-muˈminīna
They rejoice in Allah’s blessing and grace, and that Allah does not waste the reward of the faithful.
ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَصَابَهُمُ ٱلْقَرْحُ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ وَٱتَّقَوْا۟ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
allaḏīna staǧābū li-llāhi wa-r-rasūli min baʿdi mā ˈaṣābahumu l-qarḥu li-llaḏīna ˈaḥsanū minhum wa-ttaqaw ˈaǧrun ʿaẓīmun-i
Those who responded to Allah and the Apostle [even] after they had been wounded—for those of them who have been virtuous and Godwary there shall be a great reward.
ٱلَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُوا۟ لَكُمْ فَٱخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَـٰنًا وَقَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ ٱلْوَكِيلُ
allaḏīna qāla lahumu n-nāsu ˈinna n-nāsa qad ǧamaʿū lakum fa-ḫšawhum fa-zādahum ˈīmānan wa-qālū ḥasbunā llāhu wa-niʿma l-wakīlu
—Those to whom the people said, ‘All the people have gathered against you, so fear them.’ That only increased them in faith, and they said, ‘Allah is sufficient for us, and He is an excellent trustee.’
فَٱنقَلَبُوا۟ بِنِعْمَةٍ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوٓءٌ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ
fa-nqalabū bi-niʿmatin mina llāhi wa-faḍlin lam yamsashum sūˈun wa-ttabaʿū riḍwāna llāhi wa-llāhu ḏū faḍlin ʿaẓīmin
So they returned with Allah’s blessing and grace, untouched by any harm. They pursued the pleasure of Allah, and Allah is dispenser of a great grace.
إِنَّمَا ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ يُخَوِّفُ أَوْلِيَآءَهُۥ فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمْ وَخَافُونِ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
ˈinnamā ḏālikumu š-šayṭānu yuḫawwifu ˈawliyāˈahū fa-lā taḫāfūhum wa-ḫāfūni ˈin kuntum muˈminīna
That is only Satan frightening [you] of his followers! So fear them not, and fear Me, should you be faithful.
وَلَا يَحْزُنكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًٔا ۗ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَلَّا يَجْعَلَ لَهُمْ حَظًّا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
wa-lā yaḥzunka llaḏīna yusāriʿūna fī l-kufri ˈinnahum lan yaḍurrū llāha šayˈan yurīdu llāhu ˈallā yaǧʿala lahum ḥaẓẓan fī l-ˈāḫirati wa-lahum ʿaḏābun ʿaẓīmun
Do not grieve for those who are active in unfaith; they will not hurt Allah in the least: Allah desires to give them no share in the Hereafter, and there is a great punishment for them.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلْكُفْرَ بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
ˈinna llaḏīna štarawu l-kufra bi-l-ˈīmāni lan yaḍurrū llāha šayˈan wa-lahum ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun
Those who have bought unfaith for faith will not hurt Allah in the least, and there is a painful punishment for them.
وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَا نُمْلِى لَهُمْ خَيْرٌ لِّأَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا نُمْلِى لَهُمْ لِيَزْدَادُوٓا۟ إِثْمًا ۚ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ
wa-lā yaḥsabanna llaḏīna kafarū ˈannamā numlī lahum ḫayrun li-ˈanfusihim ˈinnamā numlī lahum li-yazdādū ˈiṯman wa-lahum ʿaḏābun muhīnun
Let the faithless not suppose that the respite that We grant them is good for their souls: We give them respite only that they may increase in sin, and there is a humiliating punishment for them.
مَّا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَذَرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّىٰ يَمِيزَ ٱلْخَبِيثَ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبِ ۗ وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُطْلِعَكُمْ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَجْتَبِى مِن رُّسُلِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۖ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ ۚ وَإِن تُؤْمِنُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَلَكُمْ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
mā kāna llāhu li-yaḏara l-muˈminīna ʿalā mā ˈantum ʿalayhi ḥattā yamīza l-ḫabīṯa mina ṭ-ṭayyibi wa-mā kāna llāhu li-yuṭliʿakum ʿalā l-ġaybi wa-lākinna llāha yaǧtabī min rusulihī man yašāˈu fa-ˈāminū bi-llāhi wa-rusulihī wa-ˈin tuˈminū wa-tattaqū fa-lakum ˈaǧrun ʿaẓīmun
Allah will not leave the faithful in your present state, until He has separated the bad ones from the good. Allah will not acquaint you with the Unseen, but Allah chooses whomever He wishes from His apostles. So have faith in Allah and His apostles; and if you are faithful and Godwary, there shall be a great reward for you.
وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ هُوَ خَيْرًا لَّهُم ۖ بَلْ هُوَ شَرٌّ لَّهُمْ ۖ سَيُطَوَّقُونَ مَا بَخِلُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَٰثُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
wa-lā yaḥsabanna llaḏīna yabḫalūna bi-mā ˈātāhumu llāhu min faḍlihī huwa ḫayran lahum bal huwa šarrun lahum sa-yuṭawwaqūna mā baḫilū bihī yawma l-qiyāmati wa-li-llāhi mīrāṯu s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-llāhu bi-mā taʿmalūna ḫabīrun
Let the stingy not suppose that [their grudging] what Allah has given them out of His bounty is good for them; no, it is bad for them. They will be collared with what they grudge on the Day of Resurrection. To Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is well aware of what you do.
لَّقَدْ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوْلَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ فَقِيرٌ وَنَحْنُ أَغْنِيَآءُ ۘ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَالُوا۟ وَقَتْلَهُمُ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَنَقُولُ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
la-qad samiʿa llāhu qawla llaḏīna qālū ˈinna llāha faqīrun wa-naḥnu ˈaġniyāˈu sa-naktubu mā qālū wa-qatlahumu l-ˈanbiyāˈa bi-ġayri ḥaqqin wa-naqūlu ḏūqū ʿaḏāba l-ḥarīqi
Allah has certainly heard the remark of those who said, ‘Allah is poor and we are rich.’ We will record what they have said, and their killing of the prophets unjustly, and We shall say, ‘Taste the punishment of the burning.
ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ
ḏālika bi-mā qaddamat ˈaydīkum wa-ˈanna llāha laysa bi-ẓallāmin li-l-ʿabīdi
That is because of what your hands have sent ahead, and because Allah is not tyrannical to His servants.’
ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَآ أَلَّا نُؤْمِنَ لِرَسُولٍ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَنَا بِقُرْبَانٍ تَأْكُلُهُ ٱلنَّارُ ۗ قُلْ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِى بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَبِٱلَّذِى قُلْتُمْ فَلِمَ قَتَلْتُمُوهُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
allaḏīna qālū ˈinna llāha ʿahida ˈilaynā ˈallā nuˈmina li-rasūlin ḥattā yaˈtiyanā bi-qurbānin taˈkuluhu n-nāru qul qad ǧāˈakum rusulun min qablī bi-l-bayyināti wa-bi-llaḏī qultum fa-li-ma qataltumūhum ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna
Tell those who say, ‘Allah has pledged us not to believe in any apostle unless he brings us an offering consumed by fire,’ ‘Apostles before me certainly did bring you manifest signs and what you speak of. Then why did you kill them, if you are truthful?’
فَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كُذِّبَ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِكَ جَآءُو بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَٱلزُّبُرِ وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُنِيرِ
fa-ˈin kaḏḏabūka fa-qad kuḏḏiba rusulun min qablika ǧāˈū bi-l-bayyināti wa-z-zuburi wa-l-kitābi l-munīri
But if they deny you, [other] apostles have been denied before you, who came with manifest signs, holy writs, and an illuminating scripture.
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۗ وَإِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوْنَ أُجُورَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۖ فَمَن زُحْزِحَ عَنِ ٱلنَّارِ وَأُدْخِلَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ فَقَدْ فَازَ ۗ وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا مَتَـٰعُ ٱلْغُرُورِ
kullu nafsin ḏāˈiqatu l-mawti wa-ˈinnamā tuwaffawna ˈuǧūrakum yawma l-qiyāmati fa-man zuḥziḥa ʿani n-nāri wa-ˈudḫila l-ǧannata fa-qad fāza wa-mā l-ḥayātu d-dunyā ˈillā matāʿu l-ġurūri
Every soul shall taste death, and you will indeed be paid your full rewards on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is delivered from the Fire and admitted to paradise has certainly succeeded. The life of this world is nothing but the wares of delusion.
لَتُبْلَوُنَّ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ وَلَتَسْمَعُنَّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوٓا۟ أَذًى كَثِيرًا ۚ وَإِن تَصْبِرُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِ
la-tublawunna fī ˈamwālikum wa-ˈanfusikum wa-la-tasmaʿunna mina llaḏīna ˈūtū l-kitāba min qablikum wa-mina llaḏīna ˈašrakū ˈaḏan kaṯīran wa-ˈin taṣbirū wa-tattaqū fa-ˈinna ḏālika min ʿazmi l-ˈumūri
You will surely be tested in your possessions and your souls, and you will surely hear much affront from those who were given the Book before you and from the polytheists; but if you are patient and Godwary, that is indeed the steadiest of courses.
وَإِذْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَـٰقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُۥ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكْتُمُونَهُۥ فَنَبَذُوهُ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ وَٱشْتَرَوْا۟ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۖ فَبِئْسَ مَا يَشْتَرُونَ
wa-ˈiḏ ˈaḫaḏa llāhu mīṯāqa llaḏīna ˈūtū l-kitāba la-tubayyinunnahū li-n-nāsi wa-lā taktumūnahū fa-nabaḏūhu warāˈa ẓuhūrihim wa-štaraw bihī ṯamanan qalīlan fa-biˈsa mā yaštarūna
When Allah made a covenant with those who were given the Book: ‘You shall explain it for the people, and you shall not conceal it,’ they cast it behind their backs and sold it for a paltry gain. How evil is what they buy!
لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَآ أَتَوا۟ وَّيُحِبُّونَ أَن يُحْمَدُوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يَفْعَلُوا۟ فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّهُم بِمَفَازَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
lā taḥsabanna llaḏīna yafraḥūna bi-mā ˈataw wa-yuḥibbūna ˈan yuḥmadū bi-mā lam yafʿalū fa-lā taḥsabannahum bi-mafāzatin mina l-ʿaḏābi wa-lahum ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun
Do not suppose those who brag about what they have done, and love to be praised for what they have not done—do not suppose them saved from punishment and there is a painful punishment for them.
وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
wa-li-llāhi mulku s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-llāhu ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and Allah has power over all things.
إِنَّ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱخْتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
ˈinna fī ḫalqi s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-ḫtilāfi l-layli wa-n-nahāri la-ˈāyātin li-ˈulī l-ˈalbābi
Indeed in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for those who possess intellect.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ قِيَـٰمًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَـٰذَا بَـٰطِلًا سُبْحَـٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ
allaḏīna yaḏkurūna llāha qiyāman wa-quʿūdan wa-ʿalā ǧunūbihim wa-yatafakkarūna fī ḫalqi s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi rabbanā mā ḫalaqta hāḏā bāṭilan subḥānaka fa-qinā ʿaḏāba n-nāri
Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth [and say], ‘Our Lord, You have not created this in vain! Immaculate are You! Save us from the punishment of the Fire.
رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ مَن تُدْخِلِ ٱلنَّارَ فَقَدْ أَخْزَيْتَهُۥ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ
rabbanā ˈinnaka man tudḫili n-nāra fa-qad ˈaḫzaytahū wa-mā li-ẓ-ẓālimīna min ˈanṣārin
Our Lord, whoever that You make enter the Fire will surely have been disgraced by You, and the wrongdoers will have no helpers.
رَّبَّنَآ إِنَّنَا سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِى لِلْإِيمَـٰنِ أَنْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَـَٔامَنَّا ۚ رَبَّنَا فَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَكَفِّرْ عَنَّا سَيِّـَٔاتِنَا وَتَوَفَّنَا مَعَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ
rabbanā ˈinnanā samiʿnā munādiyan yunādī li-l-ˈīmāni ˈan ˈāminū bi-rabbikum fa-ˈāmannā rabbanā fa-ġfir lanā ḏunūbanā wa-kaffir ʿannā sayyiˈātinā wa-tawaffanā maʿa l-ˈabrāri
Our Lord, we have indeed heard a summoner calling to faith, declaring, ‘‘Have faith in your Lord!’’ So we believed. Our Lord, forgive us our sins and absolve us of our misdeeds, and make us die with the pious.
رَبَّنَا وَءَاتِنَا مَا وَعَدتَّنَا عَلَىٰ رُسُلِكَ وَلَا تُخْزِنَا يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ
rabbanā wa-ˈātinā mā waʿadtanā ʿalā rusulika wa-lā tuḫzinā yawma l-qiyāmati ˈinnaka lā tuḫlifu l-mīʿāda
Our Lord, give us what You have promised us through Your apostles, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed You do not break Your promise.’
فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ أَنِّى لَآ أُضِيعُ عَمَلَ عَـٰمِلٍ مِّنكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ ۖ بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ وَأُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ وَأُوذُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِى وَقَـٰتَلُوا۟ وَقُتِلُوا۟ لَأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ثَوَابًا مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسْنُ ٱلثَّوَابِ
fa-staǧāba lahum rabbuhum ˈannī lā ˈuḍīʿu ʿamala ˈāmilin minkum min ḏakarin ˈaw ˈunṯā baʿḍukum min baʿḍin fa-llaḏīna hāǧarū wa-ˈuḫriǧū min diyārihim wa-ˈūḏū fī sabīlī wa-qātalū wa-qutilū la-ˈukaffiranna ʿanhum sayyiˈātihim wa-la-ˈudḫilannahum ǧannātin taǧrī min taḥtihā l-ˈanhāru ṯawāban min ʿindi llāhi wa-llāhu ʿindahū ḥusnu ṯ-ṯawābi
Then their Lord answered them, ‘I do not waste the work of any worker among you, whether male or female; you are all on the same footing. So those who migrated and were expelled from their homes, and were tormented in My way, and those who fought and were killed—I will surely absolve them of their misdeeds and I will admit them into gardens with streams running in them, as a reward from Allah, and Allah—with Him is the best of rewards.’
لَا يَغُرَّنَّكَ تَقَلُّبُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
lā yaġurrannaka taqallubu llaḏīna kafarū fī l-bilādi
Never be misled by the bustle of the faithless in the towns.
مَتَـٰعٌ قَلِيلٌ ثُمَّ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۚ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ
matāʿun qalīlun ṯumma maˈwāhum ǧahannamu wa-biˈsa l-mihādu
It is a trivial enjoyment; then their refuge is hell, and it is an evil resting place.
لَـٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا نُزُلًا مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لِّلْأَبْرَارِ
lākini llaḏīna ttaqaw rabbahum lahum ǧannātun taǧrī min taḥtihā l-ˈanhāru ḫālidīna fīhā nuzulan min ʿindi llāhi wa-mā ʿinda llāhi ḫayrun li-l-ˈabrāri
But those who are wary of their Lord—for them shall be gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], a hospitality from Allah; and what is with Allah is better for the pious.
وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَمَن يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ خَـٰشِعِينَ لِلَّهِ لَا يَشْتَرُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۗ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ
wa-ˈinna min ˈahli l-kitābi la-man yuˈminu bi-llāhi wa-mā ˈunzila ˈilaykum wa-mā ˈunzila ˈilayhim ḫāšiʿīna li-llāhi lā yaštarūna bi-ˈāyāti llāhi ṯamanan qalīlan ˈulāˈika lahum ˈaǧruhum ʿinda rabbihim ˈinna llāha sarīʿu l-ḥisābi
Indeed among the People of the Book there are some who have faith in Allah and in what has been sent down to you, and in what has been sent down to them. Humble toward Allah, they do not sell the signs of Allah for a paltry gain. They shall have their reward near their Lord; indeed Allah is swift at reckoning.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱصْبِرُوا۟ وَصَابِرُوا۟ وَرَابِطُوا۟ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ṣbirū wa-ṣābirū wa-rābiṭū wa-ttaqū llāha laʿallakum tufliḥūna
O you who have faith! Be patient, stand firm, and close [your] ranks, and be wary of Allah so that you may be felicitous.
