Surah Luqman

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 31:1

   الٓمٓ﴿١﴾

   ʾ-l-m (ˈalif lām mīm)

   Alif, Lam, Meem.

2. 31:2

   تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ﴿٢﴾

   tilka ˈāyātu l-kitābi l-ḥakīmi

   These are the signs of the wise Book,

3. 31:3

   هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿٣﴾

   hudan wa-raḥmatan li-l-muḥsinīna

   a guidance and mercy for the virtuous,

4. 31:4

   ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ﴿٤﴾

   allaḏīna yuqīmūna ṣ-ṣalāta wa-yuˈtūna z-zakāta wa-hum bi-l-ˈāḫirati hum yūqinūna

   who maintain the prayer, pay the zakat, and are certain of the Hereafter.

5. 31:5

   أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدًى مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ﴿٥﴾

   ˈulāˈika ʿalā hudan min rabbihim wa-ˈulāˈika humu l-mufliḥūna

   Those follow their Lord’s guidance, and it is they who are the felicitous.

6. 31:6

   وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَشْتَرِى لَهْوَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ﴿٦﴾

   wa-mina n-nāsi man yaštarī lahwa l-ḥadīṯi li-yuḍilla ʿan sabīli llāhi bi-ġayri ʿilmin wa-yattaḫiḏahā huzuwan ˈulāˈika lahum ʿaḏābun muhīnun

   Among the people is he who buys diversionary talk that he may lead [people] astray from Allah’s way without any knowledge, and he takes it in derision. For such there is a humiliating punishment.

7. 31:7

   وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَأَنَّ فِىٓ أُذُنَيْهِ وَقْرًا ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ﴿٧﴾

   wa-ˈiḏā tutlā ʿalayhi ˈāyātunā wallā mustakbiran ka-ˈan lam yasmaʿhā ka-ˈanna fī ˈuḏunayhi waqran fa-bašširhu bi-ʿaḏābin ˈalīmin

   When Our signs are recited to him he turns away disdainfully, as if he had not heard them [at all], as if there were a deafness in his ears. So inform him of a painful punishment.

8. 31:8

   إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلنَّعِيمِ﴿٨﴾

   ˈinna llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti lahum ǧannātu n-naʿīmi

   As for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, for them will be gardens of bliss,

9. 31:9

   خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقًّا ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ﴿٩﴾

   ḫālidīna fīhā waʿda llāhi ḥaqqan wa-huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu

   to remain in them [forever]—a true promise of Allah, and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise.

10. 31:10

    خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍ تَرَوْنَهَا ۖ وَأَلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَآبَّةٍ ۚ وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ﴿١٠﴾

    ḫalaqa s-samāwāti bi-ġayri ʿamadin tarawnahā wa-ˈalqā fī l-ˈarḍi rawāsiya ˈan tamīda bikum wa-baṯṯa fīhā min kulli dābbatin wa-ˈanzalnā mina s-samāˈi māˈan fa-ˈanbatnā fīhā min kulli zawǧin karīmin

    He created the heavens without any pillars that you may see, and cast firm mountains in the earth lest it should shake with you, and He has scattered in it every kind of animal. And We sent down water from the sky and caused every splendid kind [of plant] to grow in it.

11. 31:11

    هَـٰذَا خَلْقُ ٱللَّهِ فَأَرُونِى مَاذَا خَلَقَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن دُونِهِۦ ۚ بَلِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ﴿١١﴾

    hāḏā ḫalqu llāhi fa-ˈarūnī māḏā ḫalaqa llaḏīna min dūnihī bali ẓ-ẓālimūna fī ḍalālin mubīnin

    This is the creation of Allah. Now show Me what others besides Him have created. Indeed, the wrongdoers are in manifest error!

12. 31:12

    وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا لُقْمَـٰنَ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ أَنِ ٱشْكُرْ لِلَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يَشْكُرْ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِىٌّ حَمِيدٌ﴿١٢﴾

    wa-la-qad ˈātaynā luqmāna l-ḥikmata ˈani škur li-llāhi wa-man yaškur fa-ˈinnamā yaškuru li-nafsihī wa-man kafara fa-ˈinna llāha ġaniyyun ḥamīdun

    Certainly We gave Luqman wisdom, saying, ‘Give thanks to Allah; and whoever gives thanks, gives thanks only for his own sake. And whoever is ungrateful, [let him know that] Allah is indeed all-sufficient, all-laudable.’

13. 31:13

    وَإِذْ قَالَ لُقْمَـٰنُ لِٱبْنِهِۦ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهُۥ يَـٰبُنَىَّ لَا تُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّ ٱلشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ﴿١٣﴾

    wa-ˈiḏ qāla luqmānu li-bnihī wa-huwa yaʿiẓuhū yā-bunayya lā tušrik bi-llāhi ˈinna š-širka la-ẓulmun ʿaẓīmun

    When Luqman said to his son, as he advised him: ‘O my son! Do not ascribe any partners to Allah. Polytheism is indeed a great injustice.’

14. 31:14

    وَوَصَّيْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُۥ وَهْنًا عَلَىٰ وَهْنٍ وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥ فِى عَامَيْنِ أَنِ ٱشْكُرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَيْكَ إِلَىَّ ٱلْمَصِيرُ﴿١٤﴾

    wa-waṣṣaynā l-ˈinsāna bi-wālidayhi ḥamalathu ˈummuhū wahnan ʿalā wahnin wa-fiṣāluhū fī ʿāmayni ˈani škur lī wa-li-wālidayka ˈilayya l-maṣīru

    We have enjoined man concerning his parents: His mother carried him through weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years. Give thanks to Me and to your parents. To Me is the return.

15. 31:15

    وَإِن جَـٰهَدَاكَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن تُشْرِكَ بِى مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا ۖ وَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا ۖ وَٱتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ مَنْ أَنَابَ إِلَىَّ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿١٥﴾

    wa-ˈin ǧāhadāka ʿalā ˈan tušrika bī mā laysa laka bihī ʿilmun fa-lā tuṭiʿhumā wa-ṣāḥibhumā fī d-dunyā maʿrūfan wa-ttabiʿ sabīla man ˈanāba ˈilayya ṯumma ˈilayya marǧiʿukum fa-ˈunabbiˈukum bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna

    But if they urge you to ascribe to Me as partner that of which you have no knowledge, then do not obey them. Keep their company honourably in this world and follow the way of those who turn to Me penitently. Then to Me will be your return, whereat I will inform you concerning what you used to do.

16. 31:16

    يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنَّهَآ إِن تَكُ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ فَتَكُن فِى صَخْرَةٍ أَوْ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ أَوْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَأْتِ بِهَا ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَطِيفٌ خَبِيرٌ﴿١٦﴾

    yā-bunayya ˈinnahā ˈin taku miṯqāla ḥabbatin min ḫardalin fa-takun fī ṣaḫratin ˈaw fī s-samāwāti ˈaw fī l-ˈarḍi yaˈti bihā llāhu ˈinna llāha laṭīfun ḫabīrun

    ‘O my son! Even if it should be the weight of a mustard seed, and [even though] it should be in a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will produce it. Indeed Allah is all-attentive, all-aware.

17. 31:17

    يَـٰبُنَىَّ أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأْمُرْ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَٱنْهَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَكَ ۖ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِ﴿١٧﴾

    yā-bunayya ˈaqimi ṣ-ṣalāta wa-ˈmur bi-l-maʿrūfi wa-nha ʿani l-munkari wa-ṣbir ʿalā mā ˈaṣābaka ˈinna ḏālika min ʿazmi l-ˈumūri

    O my son! Maintain the prayer and bid what is right and forbid what is wrong, and be patient through whatever may befall you. That is indeed the steadiest of courses.

18. 31:18

    وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ﴿١٨﴾

    wa-lā tuṣaʿʿir ḫaddaka li-n-nāsi wa-lā tamši fī l-ˈarḍi maraḥan ˈinna llāha lā yuḥibbu kulla muḫtālin faḫūrin

    Do not turn your cheek away disdainfully from the people, and do not walk exultantly on the earth. Indeed Allah does not like any swaggering braggart.

19. 31:19

    وَٱقْصِدْ فِى مَشْيِكَ وَٱغْضُضْ مِن صَوْتِكَ ۚ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ ٱلْأَصْوَٰتِ لَصَوْتُ ٱلْحَمِيرِ﴿١٩﴾

    wa-qṣid fī mašyika wa-ġḍuḍ min ṣawtika ˈinna ˈankara l-ˈaṣwāti la-ṣawtu l-ḥamīri

    Be modest in your bearing, and lower your voice. Indeed the ungainliest of voices is the donkey’s voice.’

20. 31:20

    أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَأَسْبَغَ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعَمَهُۥ ظَـٰهِرَةً وَبَاطِنَةً ۗ وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يُجَـٰدِلُ فِى ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَلَا هُدًى وَلَا كِتَـٰبٍ مُّنِيرٍ﴿٢٠﴾

    ˈa-lam taraw ˈanna llāha saḫḫara lakum mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ˈarḍi wa-ˈasbaġa ʿalaykum niʿamahū ẓāhiratan wa-bāṭinatan wa-mina n-nāsi man yuǧādilu fī llāhi bi-ġayri ʿilmin wa-lā hudan wa-lā kitābin munīrin

    Do you not see that Allah has disposed for you whatever there is in the heavens and whatever there is in the earth and He has showered upon you His blessings, the outward, and the inward? Yet among the people are those who dispute concerning Allah without any knowledge or guidance or an illuminating scripture.

21. 31:21

    وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ قَالُوا۟ بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ ۚ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ عَذَابِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ﴿٢١﴾

    wa-ˈiḏā qīla lahumu ttabiʿū mā ˈanzala llāhu qālū bal nattabiʿu mā waǧadnā ʿalayhi ˈābāˈanā ˈa-wa-law kāna š-šayṭānu yadʿūhum ˈilā ʿaḏābi s-saʿīri

    When they are told, ‘Follow what Allah has sent down,’ they say, ‘No, we will follow what we found our fathers following.’ What! Even if Satan be calling them to the punishment of the Blaze?

22. 31:22

    وَمَن يُسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ فَقَدِ ٱسْتَمْسَكَ بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ ۗ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْأُمُورِ﴿٢٢﴾

    wa-man yuslim waǧhahū ˈilā llāhi wa-huwa muḥsinun fa-qadi stamsaka bi-l-ʿurwati l-wuṯqā wa-ˈilā llāhi ʿāqibatu l-ˈumūri

    Whoever surrenders his heart to Allah and is virtuous, has certainly held fast to the firmest handle, and with Allah lies the outcome of all matters.

23. 31:23

    وَمَن كَفَرَ فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ كُفْرُهُۥٓ ۚ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ﴿٢٣﴾

    wa-man kafara fa-lā yaḥzunka kufruhū ˈilaynā marǧiʿuhum fa-nunabbiˈuhum bi-mā ʿamilū ˈinna llāha ʿalīmun bi-ḏāti ṣ-ṣudūri

    As for those who are faithless, let their faithlessness not grieve you. To Us will be their return, and We will inform them about what they have done. Indeed Allah knows best what is in the breasts.

24. 31:24

    نُمَتِّعُهُمْ قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ نَضْطَرُّهُمْ إِلَىٰ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ﴿٢٤﴾

    numattiʿuhum qalīlan ṯumma naḍṭarruhum ˈilā ʿaḏābin ġalīẓin

    We will provide for them for a short time, then We will shove them toward a harsh punishment.

25. 31:25

    وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۚ قُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ﴿٢٥﴾

    wa-la-ˈin saˈaltahum man ḫalaqa s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍa la-yaqūlunna llāhu quli l-ḥamdu li-llāhi bal ˈakṯaruhum lā yaʿlamūna

    If you ask them, ‘Who created the heavens and the earth?’ they will surely say, ‘Allah.’ Say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah!’ But most of them do not know.

26. 31:26

    لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ٱلْحَمِيدُ﴿٢٦﴾

    li-llāhi mā fī s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi ˈinna llāha huwa l-ġaniyyu l-ḥamīdu

    To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Indeed Allah is the All-sufficient, the All-laudable.

27. 31:27

    وَلَوْ أَنَّمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن شَجَرَةٍ أَقْلَـٰمٌ وَٱلْبَحْرُ يَمُدُّهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ سَبْعَةُ أَبْحُرٍ مَّا نَفِدَتْ كَلِمَـٰتُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ﴿٢٧﴾

    wa-law ˈannamā fī l-ˈarḍi min šaǧaratin ˈaqlāmun wa-l-baḥru yamudduhū min baʿdihī sabʿatu ˈabḥurin mā nafidat kalimātu llāhi ˈinna llāha ʿazīzun ḥakīmun

    If all the trees on the earth were pens, and the sea replenished with seven more seas [were ink], the words of Allah would not be spent. Indeed Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.

28. 31:28

    مَّا خَلْقُكُمْ وَلَا بَعْثُكُمْ إِلَّا كَنَفْسٍ وَٰحِدَةٍ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌۢ بَصِيرٌ﴿٢٨﴾

    mā ḫalqukum wa-lā baʿṯukum ˈillā ka-nafsin wāḥidatin ˈinna llāha samīʿun baṣīrun

    Your creation and your resurrection are not but as of a single soul. Indeed Allah is all-hearing, all-seeing.

29. 31:29

    أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُولِجُ ٱلَّيْلَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِى ٱلَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِىٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ﴿٢٩﴾

    ˈa-lam tara ˈanna llāha yūliǧu l-layla fī n-nahāri wa-yūliǧu n-nahāra fī l-layli wa-saḫḫara š-šamsa wa-l-qamara kullun yaǧrī ˈilā ˈaǧalin musamman wa-ˈanna llāha bi-mā taʿmalūna ḫabīrun

    Have you not regarded that Allah makes the night pass into the day and makes the day pass into the night; and He has disposed the sun and the moon, each moving for a specified term, and that Allah is well aware of what you do?

30. 31:30

    ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلْبَـٰطِلُ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْعَلِىُّ ٱلْكَبِيرُ﴿٣٠﴾

    ḏālika bi-ˈanna llāha huwa l-ḥaqqu wa-ˈanna mā yadʿūna min dūnihi l-bāṭilu wa-ˈanna llāha huwa l-ʿaliyyu l-kabīru

    That is because Allah is the Reality, and whatever they invoke besides Him is nullity, and because Allah is the All-exalted, the All-great.

31. 31:31

    أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱلْفُلْكَ تَجْرِى فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ بِنِعْمَتِ ٱللَّهِ لِيُرِيَكُم مِّنْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ﴿٣١﴾

    ˈa-lam tara ˈanna l-fulka taǧrī fī l-baḥri bi-niʿmati llāhi li-yuriyakum min ˈāyātihī ˈinna fī ḏālika la-ˈāyātin li-kulli ṣabbārin šakūrin

    Have you not regarded that the ships sail at sea with Allah’s blessing, that He may show you some of His signs? There are indeed signs in that for every patient and grateful [servant].

32. 31:32

    وَإِذَا غَشِيَهُم مَّوْجٌ كَٱلظُّلَلِ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّىٰهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْبَرِّ فَمِنْهُم مُّقْتَصِدٌ ۚ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ إِلَّا كُلُّ خَتَّارٍ كَفُورٍ﴿٣٢﴾

    wa-ˈiḏā ġašiyahum mawǧun ka-ẓ-ẓulali daʿawu llāha muḫliṣīna lahu d-dīna fa-lammā naǧǧāhum ˈilā l-barri fa-minhum muqtaṣidun wa-mā yaǧḥadu bi-ˈāyātinā ˈillā kullu ḫattārin kafūrin

    When waves cover them like awnings; they invoke Allah, putting exclusive faith in Him. But when He delivers them towards land, [only] some of them remain unswerving. No one will impugn Our signs except an ungrateful traitor.

33. 31:33

    يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ وَٱخْشَوْا۟ يَوْمًا لَّا يَجْزِى وَالِدٌ عَن وَلَدِهِۦ وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَن وَالِدِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا ۚ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ ۖ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْغَرُورُ﴿٣٣﴾

    yā-ˈayyuhā n-nāsu ttaqū rabbakum wa-ḫšaw yawman lā yaǧzī wālidun ʿan waladihī wa-lā mawlūdun huwa ǧāzin ʿan wālidihī šayˈan ˈinna waʿda llāhi ḥaqqun fa-lā taġurrannakumu l-ḥayātu d-dunyā wa-lā yaġurrannakum bi-llāhi l-ġarūru

    O mankind! Be wary of your Lord and fear the day when a father will not atone for his child, nor the child will atone for its father in any wise. Indeed Allah’s promise is true. So do not let the life of the world deceive you, nor let the Deceiver deceive you concerning Allah.

34. 31:34

    إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ ٱلْغَيْثَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْحَامِ ۖ وَمَا تَدْرِى نَفْسٌ مَّاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَدًا ۖ وَمَا تَدْرِى نَفْسٌۢ بِأَىِّ أَرْضٍ تَمُوتُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌۢ﴿٣٤﴾

    ˈinna llāha ʿindahū ʿilmu s-sāʿati wa-yunazzilu l-ġayṯa wa-yaʿlamu mā fī l-ˈarḥāmi wa-mā tadrī nafsun māḏā taksibu ġadan wa-mā tadrī nafsun bi-ˈayyi ˈarḍin tamūtu ˈinna llāha ʿalīmun ḫabīrun

    Indeed the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah. He sends down the rain, and He knows what is in the wombs. No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-aware.
