Surah As-Sajda

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 32:1

   الٓمٓ﴿١﴾

   ʾ-l-m (ˈalif lām mīm)

   Alif, Lam, Meem.

2. 32:2

   تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ﴿٢﴾

   tanzīlu l-kitābi lā rayba fīhi min rabbi l-ʿālamīna

   The [gradual] sending down of the Book, there is no doubt in it, is from the Lord of all the worlds.

3. 32:3

   أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۚ بَلْ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ﴿٣﴾

   ˈam yaqūlūna ftarāhu bal huwa l-ḥaqqu min rabbika li-tunḏira qawman mā ˈatāhum min naḏīrin min qablika laʿallahum yahtadūna

   But they say, ‘He has fabricated it.’ No, it is the truth from your Lord, that you may warn a people to whom there did not come any warner before you, so that they may be guided [to the right path].

4. 32:4

   ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ۖ مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ﴿٤﴾

   allāhu llaḏī ḫalaqa s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍa wa-mā baynahumā fī sittati ˈayyāmin ṯumma stawā ʿalā l-ʿarši mā lakum min dūnihī min waliyyin wa-lā šafīʿin ˈa-fa-lā tataḏakkarūna

   It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them in six days, then He settled on the Throne. You do not have besides Him any guardian or intercessor. Will you not then take admonition?

5. 32:5

   يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥٓ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَ﴿٥﴾

   yudabbiru l-ˈamra mina s-samāˈi ˈilā l-ˈarḍi ṯumma yaʿruǧu ˈilayhi fī yawmin kāna miqdāruhū ˈalfa sanatin mimmā taʿuddūna

   He directs the command from the heaven to the earth; then it ascends toward Him in a day whose span is a thousand years by your reckoning.

6. 32:6

   ذَٰلِكَ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ﴿٦﴾

   ḏālika ʿālimu l-ġaybi wa-š-šahādati l-ʿazīzu r-raḥīmu

   That is the Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, the All-mighty, the All-merciful,

7. 32:7

   ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ ۖ وَبَدَأَ خَلْقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ مِن طِينٍ﴿٧﴾

   allaḏī ˈaḥsana kulla šayˈin ḫalaqahū wa-badaˈa ḫalqa l-ˈinsāni min ṭīnin

   who perfected everything that He created and commenced man’s creation from clay.

8. 32:8

   ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسْلَهُۥ مِن سُلَـٰلَةٍ مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ﴿٨﴾

   ṯumma ǧaʿala naslahū min sulālatin min māˈin mahīnin

   Then He made his progeny from an extract of a base fluid.

9. 32:9

   ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦ ۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ﴿٩﴾

   ṯumma sawwāhu wa-nafaḫa fīhi min rūḥihī wa-ǧaʿala lakumu s-samʿa wa-l-ˈabṣāra wa-l-ˈafˈidata qalīlan mā taškurūna

   Then He proportioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit, and made for you hearing, sight, and hearts. Little do you thank.

10. 32:10

    وَقَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا ضَلَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِى خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍۭ ۚ بَلْ هُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ﴿١٠﴾

    wa-qālū ˈa-ˈiḏā ḍalalnā fī l-ˈarḍi ˈa-ˈinnā la-fī ḫalqin ǧadīdin bal hum bi-liqāˈi rabbihim kāfirūna

    They say, ‘When we have been lost in the dust, shall we be indeed created anew?’ Indeed, they disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord.

11. 32:11

    قُلْ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم مَّلَكُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ٱلَّذِى وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ﴿١١﴾

    qul yatawaffākum malaku l-mawti llaḏī wukkila bikum ṯumma ˈilā rabbikum turǧaʿūna

    Say, ‘You will be taken away by the angel of death, who has been charged with you. Then you will be brought back to your Lord.’

12. 32:12

    وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذِ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ نَاكِسُوا۟ رُءُوسِهِمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ رَبَّنَآ أَبْصَرْنَا وَسَمِعْنَا فَٱرْجِعْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَـٰلِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ﴿١٢﴾

    wa-law tarā ˈiḏi l-muǧrimūna nākisū ruˈūsihim ʿinda rabbihim rabbanā ˈabṣarnā wa-samiʿnā fa-rǧiʿnā naʿmal ṣāliḥan ˈinnā mūqinūna

    Were you to see when the guilty hang their heads before their Lord [confessing], ‘Our Lord! We have seen and heard. Send us back so that we may act righteously. Indeed we are [now] convinced.’

13. 32:13

    وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَـَٔاتَيْنَا كُلَّ نَفْسٍ هُدَىٰهَا وَلَـٰكِنْ حَقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ مِنِّى لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ﴿١٣﴾

    wa-law šiˈnā la-ˈātaynā kulla nafsin hudāhā wa-lākin ḥaqqa l-qawlu minnī la-ˈamlaˈanna ǧahannama mina l-ǧinnati wa-n-nāsi ˈaǧmaʿīna

    Had We wished We would have given every soul its guidance, but My word became due [against the faithless]: ‘Surely I will fill hell with all the [guilty] jinn and humans.’

14. 32:14

    فَذُوقُوا۟ بِمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَـٰذَآ إِنَّا نَسِينَـٰكُمْ ۖ وَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْخُلْدِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿١٤﴾

    fa-ḏūqū bi-mā nasītum liqāˈa yawmikum hāḏā ˈinnā nasīnākum wa-ḏūqū ʿaḏāba l-ḫuldi bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna

    So taste [the punishment] for your having forgotten the encounter of this day of yours. We [too] have forgotten you. Taste the everlasting punishment because of what you used to do.

15. 32:15Sajdah

    إِنَّمَا يُؤْمِنُ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهَا خَرُّوا۟ سُجَّدًا وَسَبَّحُوا۟ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ۩﴿١٥﴾

    ˈinnamā yuˈminu bi-ˈāyātinā llaḏīna ˈiḏā ḏukkirū bihā ḫarrū suǧǧadan wa-sabbaḥū bi-ḥamdi rabbihim wa-hum lā yastakbirūna

    Only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded of them, fall down in prostration and celebrate the praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.

16. 32:16

    تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ﴿١٦﴾

    tataǧāfā ǧunūbuhum ʿani l-maḍāǧiʿi yadʿūna rabbahum ḫawfan wa-ṭamaʿan wa-mimmā razaqnāhum yunfiqūna

    Their sides vacate their beds to supplicate their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend out of what We have provided them.

17. 32:17

    فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أُخْفِىَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ﴿١٧﴾

    fa-lā taʿlamu nafsun mā ˈuḫfiya lahum min qurrati ˈaʿyunin ǧazāˈan bi-mā kānū yaʿmalūna

    No one knows what delights have been kept hidden for them [in the Hereafter] as a reward for what they used to do.

18. 32:18

    أَفَمَن كَانَ مُؤْمِنًا كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقًا ۚ لَّا يَسْتَوُۥنَ﴿١٨﴾

    ˈa-fa-man kāna muˈminan ka-man kāna fāsiqan lā yastawūna

    Is someone who is faithful like someone who is a transgressor? They are not equal.

19. 32:19

    أَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ فَلَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ نُزُلًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ﴿١٩﴾

    ˈammā llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti fa-lahum ǧannātu l-maˈwā nuzulan bi-mā kānū yaʿmalūna

    As for those who have faith and do righteous deeds, for them will be the gardens of the Abode—a hospitality for what they used to do.

20. 32:20

    وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوا۟ فَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ ۖ كُلَّمَآ أَرَادُوٓا۟ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَآ أُعِيدُوا۟ فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿٢٠﴾

    wa-ˈammā llaḏīna fasaqū fa-maˈwāhumu n-nāru kullamā ˈarādū ˈan yaḫruǧū minhā ˈuʿīdū fīhā wa-qīla lahum ḏūqū ʿaḏāba n-nāri llaḏī kuntum bihī tukaḏḏibūna

    As for those who have transgressed, their refuge will be the Fire. Whenever they seek to leave it, they will be turned back into it and told: ‘Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny.’

21. 32:21

    وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ دُونَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَكْبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ﴿٢١﴾

    wa-la-nuḏīqannahum mina l-ʿaḏābi l-ˈadnā dūna l-ʿaḏābi l-ˈakbari laʿallahum yarǧiʿūna

    We shall surely make them taste the nearer punishment prior to the greater punishment, so that they may come back.

22. 32:22

    وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ثُمَّ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهَآ ۚ إِنَّا مِنَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ مُنتَقِمُونَ﴿٢٢﴾

    wa-man ˈaẓlamu mimman ḏukkira bi-ˈāyāti rabbihī ṯumma ˈaʿraḍa ʿanhā ˈinnā mina l-muǧrimīna muntaqimūna

    Who is a greater wrongdoer than him who is reminded of his Lord’s signs, whereat he disregards them? Indeed, We shall take vengeance upon the guilty.

23. 32:23

    وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ فَلَا تَكُن فِى مِرْيَةٍ مِّن لِّقَآئِهِۦ ۖ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ هُدًى لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ﴿٢٣﴾

    wa-la-qad ˈātaynā mūsā l-kitāba fa-lā takun fī miryatin min liqāˈihī wa-ǧaʿalnāhu hudan li-banī ˈisrāˈīla

    Certainly We gave Moses the Book, [declaring], ‘Do not be in doubt about the encounter with Him,’ and We made it a [source of] guidance for the Children of Israel.

24. 32:24

    وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا۟ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ﴿٢٤﴾

    wa-ǧaʿalnā minhum ˈaˈimmatan yahdūna bi-ˈamrinā lammā ṣabarū wa-kānū bi-ˈāyātinā yūqinūna

    When they had been patient and had conviction in Our signs, We appointed amongst them imams to guide [the people] by Our command.

25. 32:25

    إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ﴿٢٥﴾

    ˈinna rabbaka huwa yafṣilu baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fī-mā kānū fīhi yaḫtalifūna

    Indeed your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they used to differ.

26. 32:26

    أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِى مَسَـٰكِنِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ ۖ أَفَلَا يَسْمَعُونَ﴿٢٦﴾

    ˈa-wa-lam yahdi lahum kam ˈahlaknā min qablihim mina l-qurūni yamšūna fī masākinihim ˈinna fī ḏālika la-ˈāyātin ˈa-fa-lā yasmaʿūna

    Does it not dawn upon them how many generations We have destroyed before them, amid [the ruins of] whose dwellings they walk? There are indeed signs in that. Will they not then listen?

27. 32:27

    أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا نَسُوقُ ٱلْمَآءَ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْجُرُزِ فَنُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعًا تَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ أَنْعَـٰمُهُمْ وَأَنفُسُهُمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يُبْصِرُونَ﴿٢٧﴾

    ˈa-wa-lam yaraw ˈannā nasūqu l-māˈa ˈilā l-ˈarḍi l-ǧuruzi fa-nuḫriǧu bihī zarʿan taˈkulu minhu ˈanʿāmuhum wa-ˈanfusuhum ˈa-fa-lā yubṣirūna

    Do they not see that We carry water to the parched earth and with it We bring forth crops, from which they eat, themselves and their cattle? Will they not then see?

28. 32:28

    وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْفَتْحُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ﴿٢٨﴾

    wa-yaqūlūna matā hāḏā l-fatḥu ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna

    They say, ‘When will this judgement be, if you are truthful?’

29. 32:29

    قُلْ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَتْحِ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنُهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ﴿٢٩﴾

    qul yawma l-fatḥi lā yanfaʿu llaḏīna kafarū ˈīmānuhum wa-lā hum yunẓarūna

    Say, ‘On the day of judgement their [newly found] faith will not avail the faithless, nor will they be granted any respite.’

30. 32:30

    فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَٱنتَظِرْ إِنَّهُم مُّنتَظِرُونَ﴿٣٠﴾

    fa-ˈaʿriḍ ʿanhum wa-ntaẓir ˈinnahum muntaẓirūna

    So turn away from them, and wait. They too are waiting.
