حدّثهم يا أخيTell them, my brother

يا صاحب الدم السخيO you of the generous blood

عن ثوبك المغبّرof your dust-covered robe

وثوبك الملطّخand your stained robe

رملًا أو دمًاwith sand, or with blood

حزنًا أو عزمًاwith grief, or with resolve

فلا زمان ولا مكانfor there is neither time nor place

والمولى غايةand the master is the goal

والراية علياand the banner is held high

إن حملت مشيًاif it is carried on foot

ولو حُملت ثم صار الكفن الرايةand even if, once carried, the shroud became the banner

حيث حلّ الحبيب فالمحبّ يجيبwherever the beloved alights, the lover answers

السلام عليك على الرمال سليبPeace be upon you, stripped upon the sands

نصرةً وفداءًin support and in sacrifice

أبدًا أبدًاfor ever, for ever

وصوت آهٍ لم يزال تنقله الحناجرand a cry of anguish the throats still carry on

للطفل يناغيfor the infant, babbling

والقاتل باغيwhile the killer is a tyrant

آه الحناجر، جراح سهم نحرThe cry from every throat, and the wound of an arrow to the neck

للبنت تفرّ والحادي الشمرfor the girl who flees, and the driver is Shimr

وحسرة الغيرة لطمتم في الصدرand the anguish of honour you beat upon the breast

صوت أنصاري، ثأره ثأريThe voice of my companion. What is owed to him is owed to me.

السلام عليك سلام أحراريpeace upon you, the peace of my free men

مع إمام هدىwith an imam of guidance

أبدًا أبدًاfor ever, for ever
