ما ننساك نادينا وهل جينا بلهفة نزور ونناديك"We never forget you!" we called, and here we have come with yearning to visit and call upon you.

جيناك كلنا احنا بدربك أنصارWe have come to you, every one of us, as supporters on your path.

جيناك نهتف يا مظلوم الثارWe have come to you shouting: "O oppressed one whose vengeance is due!"

ظلت بينا تشب النارA fire has continued to blaze fiercely within us.

والأطفال عطشانة حيرانة بين عداكAnd the children, thirsty and bewildered amidst your enemies,

إجينا بلهفة نزور ونناديEagerly we have come to visit and proclaim:

راية عناد مشاية وفايةA banner of defiance, pilgrims loyal and steadfast,

بدمع العين لو نرويكif only with our teardrops we could quench your thirst!

جننا بحبك يا حسين (2x)We have been driven mad by our love for you, O Hussein!

راية شوق رفت فوقA banner of longing has fluttered high above,

شلنا لك بالروح الرايةwith our very souls we raised this banner for you,

والخدم قام شالوها يا حسين بدرب المشايةand the servants rose and bore it, O Hussein, on the path of the walking pilgrims.

فدوة نموت صحنا بصوت"May we die as your sacrifice!" we cried out aloud,

حبنا شوية وانت هواية"our love is but little, while you are everything!"

رفعة راس والعباسWith heads held high, and by Al-Abbas,

ما نترك دربك وفايةloyally we shall never abandon your path.

جيناك مشاية ودربك جنتناWe have come to you on foot, and your path is our paradise;

جيناك ويانا الزهرة وما عافتناwe have come to you, Zahra is with us and has not forsaken us.

موكب موكب يتلقانا ويصيح أهلا بالخدامProcession after procession welcomes us, shouting: "Welcome, O servants!"

خادم يفرش لنا جروحهOne servant spreads open his wounds for our comfort,

وخادم يحرسنا وما ينامand another guards us and never sleeps.

والأملاك ويانا وحرساناThe angels are alongside us, protecting us,

تريد تزور وتعزيwishing to visit and offer their condolences.

جننتنا بحبك يا حسينYou have driven us mad with your love, O Hussein!

ما ننسى عهدك يا حسينWe shall never forget our pledge to you, O Hussein!

لهفة نزور ونناديLonging to visit, we cry out:
