Surah 10
سُورَةُ يُونُسَ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
الٓر ۚ تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
ʾ-l-r (ˈalif lām rā) tilka ˈāyātu l-kitābi l-ḥakīmi
Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the signs of the Wise Book.
أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَنْ أَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ قَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ مُّبِينٌ
ˈa-kāna li-n-nāsi ʿaǧaban ˈan ˈawḥaynā ˈilā raǧulin minhum ˈan ˈanḏiri n-nāsa wa-bašširi llaḏīna ˈāmanū ˈanna lahum qadama ṣidqin ʿinda rabbihim qāla l-kāfirūna ˈinna hāḏā la-sāḥirun mubīnun
Does it seem odd to these people that We have revealed to a man from among themselves, [declaring], ‘Warn mankind, and give good news to the faithful that they are in good standing with their Lord’? The faithless say, ‘This is indeed a plain magician.’
إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ۖ يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ ۖ مَا مِن شَفِيعٍ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِذْنِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
ˈinna rabbakumu llāhu llaḏī ḫalaqa s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍa fī sittati ˈayyāmin ṯumma stawā ʿalā l-ʿarši yudabbiru l-ˈamra mā min šafīʿin ˈillā min baʿdi ˈiḏnihī ḏālikumu llāhu rabbukum fa-ʿbudūhu ˈa-fa-lā taḏakkarūna
Indeed your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and then settled on the Throne, directing the command. There is no intercessor, except by His leave. That is Allah, your Lord! So worship Him. Will you not then take admonition?
إِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا ۖ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقًّا ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمْ شَرَابٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ
ˈilayhi marǧiʿukum ǧamīʿan waʿda llāhi ḥaqqan ˈinnahū yabdaˈu l-ḫalqa ṯumma yuʿīduhū li-yaǧziya llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti bi-l-qisṭi wa-llaḏīna kafarū lahum šarābun min ḥamīmin wa-ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun bi-mā kānū yakfurūna
To Him will be the return of you all; [that is] Allah’s true promise. Indeed, He originates the creation, then He will bring it back that He may reward with justice those who have faith and do righteous deeds. As for the faithless, they shall have boiling water for drink, and a painful punishment because of what they used to defy.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ ضِيَآءً وَٱلْقَمَرَ نُورًا وَقَدَّرَهُۥ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعْلَمُوا۟ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلْحِسَابَ ۚ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ ذَٰلِكَ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ يُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ
huwa llaḏī ǧaʿala š-šamsa ḍiyāˈan wa-l-qamara nūran wa-qaddarahū manāzila li-taʿlamū ʿadada s-sinīna wa-l-ḥisāba mā ḫalaqa llāhu ḏālika ˈillā bi-l-ḥaqqi yufaṣṣilu l-ˈāyāti li-qawmin yaʿlamūna
It is He who made the sun a radiance and the moon a light, and ordained its phases that you might know the number of years and the calculation [of time]. Allah did not create all that except with justice. He elaborates the signs for a people who have knowledge.
إِنَّ فِى ٱخْتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَّقُونَ
ˈinna fī ḫtilāfi l-layli wa-n-nahāri wa-mā ḫalaqa llāhu fī s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi la-ˈāyātin li-qawmin yattaqūna
Indeed in the alternation of night and day, and whatever Allah has created in the heavens and the earth, there are surely signs for a people who are Godwary.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا وَرَضُوا۟ بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱطْمَأَنُّوا۟ بِهَا وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا غَـٰفِلُونَ
ˈinna llaḏīna lā yarǧūna liqāˈanā wa-raḍū bi-l-ḥayāti d-dunyā wa-ṭmaˈannū bihā wa-llaḏīna hum ʿan ˈāyātinā ġāfilūna
Indeed those who do not expect to encounter Us and who are pleased with the life of this world and satisfied with it, and those who are oblivious of Our signs
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
ˈulāˈika maˈwāhumu n-nāru bi-mā kānū yaksibūna
—it is they whose refuge shall be the Fire because of what they used to earn.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ يَهْدِيهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِإِيمَـٰنِهِمْ ۖ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمُ ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
ˈinna llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti yahdīhim rabbuhum bi-ˈīmānihim taǧrī min taḥtihimu l-ˈanhāru fī ǧannāti n-naʿīmi
Indeed those who have faith and do righteous deeds, their Lord guides them by the means of their faith. Streams will run for them in gardens of bliss.
دَعْوَىٰهُمْ فِيهَا سُبْحَـٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَتَحِيَّتُهُمْ فِيهَا سَلَـٰمٌ ۚ وَءَاخِرُ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ أَنِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
daʿwāhum fīhā subḥānaka llāhumma wa-taḥiyyatuhum fīhā salāmun wa-ˈāḫiru daʿwāhum ˈani l-ḥamdu li-llāhi rabbi l-ʿālamīna
Their call therein will be, ‘O Allah! Immaculate are You!’ and their greeting therein will be, ‘Peace!’ and their concluding call, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.’
وَلَوْ يُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسْتِعْجَالَهُم بِٱلْخَيْرِ لَقُضِىَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَجَلُهُمْ ۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا فِى طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
wa-law yuʿaǧǧilu llāhu li-n-nāsi š-šarra stiʿǧālahum bi-l-ḫayri la-quḍiya ˈilayhim ˈaǧaluhum fa-naḏaru llaḏīna lā yarǧūna liqāˈanā fī ṭuġyānihim yaʿmahūna
Were Allah to hasten ill for mankind with their haste for good, their term would have been over. But We leave those who do not expect to encounter Us bewildered in their rebellion.
وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوْ قَاعِدًا أَوْ قَآئِمًا فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمْ يَدْعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرٍّ مَّسَّهُۥ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
wa-ˈiḏā massa l-ˈinsāna ḍ-ḍurru daʿānā li-ǧanbihī ˈaw qāʿidan ˈaw qāˈiman fa-lammā kašafnā ʿanhu ḍurrahū marra ka-ˈan lam yadʿunā ˈilā ḍurrin massahū ka-ḏālika zuyyina li-l-musrifīna mā kānū yaʿmalūna
When distress befalls man, he supplicates Us, [lying] on his side, sitting, or standing; but when We remove his distress, he passes on as if he had never supplicated Us concerning the distress that had befallen him. What they have been doing is thus presented as decorous to the transgressors.
وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْقُرُونَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَمَّا ظَلَمُوا۟ ۙ وَجَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
wa-la-qad ˈahlaknā l-qurūna min qablikum lammā ẓalamū wa-ǧāˈathum rusuluhum bi-l-bayyināti wa-mā kānū li-yuˈminū ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-qawma l-muǧrimīna
Certainly We destroyed generations before you when they perpetrated wrongs: their apostles brought them manifest proofs, but they would not have faith. Thus do We requite the guilty lot.
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ خَلَـٰٓئِفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لِنَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ
ṯumma ǧaʿalnākum ḫalāˈifa fī l-ˈarḍi min baʿdihim li-nanẓura kayfa taʿmalūna
Then We made you successors on the earth after them that We may observe how you will act.
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَاتُنَا بَيِّنَـٰتٍ ۙ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا ٱئْتِ بِقُرْءَانٍ غَيْرِ هَـٰذَآ أَوْ بَدِّلْهُ ۚ قُلْ مَا يَكُونُ لِىٓ أَنْ أُبَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلْقَآئِ نَفْسِىٓ ۖ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
wa-ˈiḏā tutlā ʿalayhim ˈāyātunā bayyinātin qāla llaḏīna lā yarǧūna liqāˈanā ˈti bi-qurˈānin ġayri hāḏā ˈaw baddilhu qul mā yakūnu lī ˈan ˈubaddilahū min tilqāˈī nafsī ˈin ˈattabiʿu ˈillā mā yūḥā ˈilayya ˈinnī ˈaḫāfu ˈin ʿaṣaytu rabbī ʿaḏāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin
When Our manifest signs are recited to them, those who do not expect to encounter Us say, ‘Bring a Quran other than this, or alter it.’ Say, ‘I may not alter it of my own accord. I follow only what is revealed to me. Indeed should I disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of a tremendous day.’
قُل لَّوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَلَوْتُهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَآ أَدْرَىٰكُم بِهِۦ ۖ فَقَدْ لَبِثْتُ فِيكُمْ عُمُرًا مِّن قَبْلِهِۦٓ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
qul law šāˈa llāhu mā talawtuhū ʿalaykum wa-lā ˈadrākum bihī fa-qad labiṯtu fīkum ʿumuran min qablihī ˈa-fa-lā taʿqilūna
Say, ‘Had Allah [so] wished, I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have made it known to you, for I have dwelled among you for a lifetime before it. Do you not exercise your reason?’
فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
fa-man ˈaẓlamu mimmani ftarā ʿalā llāhi kaḏiban ˈaw kaḏḏaba bi-ˈāyātihī ˈinnahū lā yufliḥu l-muǧrimūna
So who is a greater wrongdoer than him who fabricates a lie against Allah, or denies His signs? Indeed the guilty will not be felicitous.
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُفَعَـٰٓؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَتُنَبِّـُٔونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
wa-yaʿbudūna min dūni llāhi mā lā yaḍurruhum wa-lā yanfaʿuhum wa-yaqūlūna hāˈulāˈi šufaʿāˈunā ʿinda llāhi qul ˈa-tunabbiˈūna llāha bi-mā lā yaʿlamu fī s-samāwāti wa-lā fī l-ˈarḍi subḥānahū wa-taʿālā ʿammā yušrikūna
They worship besides Allah that which neither causes them any harm, nor brings them any benefit, and they say, ‘These are our intercessors with Allah.’ Say, ‘Will you inform Allah about something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?’ Immaculate is He and exalted above [having] any partners that they ascribe [to Him]!
وَمَا كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ إِلَّآ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً فَٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُمْ فِيمَا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
wa-mā kāna n-nāsu ˈillā ˈummatan wāḥidatan fa-ḫtalafū wa-law-lā kalimatun sabaqat min rabbika la-quḍiya baynahum fī-mā fīhi yaḫtalifūna
Mankind were but a single [religious] community; then they differed. And were it not for a prior decree of your Lord, decision would have been made between them concerning that about which they differ.
وَيَقُولُونَ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۖ فَقُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْغَيْبُ لِلَّهِ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ
wa-yaqūlūna law-lā ˈunzila ʿalayhi ˈāyatun min rabbihī fa-qul ˈinnamā l-ġaybu li-llāhi fa-ntaẓirū ˈinnī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīna
They say, ‘Why has not some sign been sent down to him from his Lord?’ Say, ‘[The knowledge of] the Unseen belongs only to Allah. So wait. I too am waiting along with you.’
وَإِذَآ أَذَقْنَا ٱلنَّاسَ رَحْمَةً مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتْهُمْ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكْرٌ فِىٓ ءَايَاتِنَا ۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ أَسْرَعُ مَكْرًا ۚ إِنَّ رُسُلَنَا يَكْتُبُونَ مَا تَمْكُرُونَ
wa-ˈiḏā ˈaḏaqnā n-nāsa raḥmatan min baʿdi ḍarrāˈa massathum ˈiḏā lahum makrun fī ˈāyātinā quli llāhu ˈasraʿu makran ˈinna rusulanā yaktubūna mā tamkurūna
When We let people taste [Our] mercy after a distress that has befallen them, behold, they scheme against Our signs! Say, ‘Allah is more swift at devising.’ Indeed Our messengers write down what you scheme.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُسَيِّرُكُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا كُنتُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ وَجَرَيْنَ بِهِم بِرِيحٍ طَيِّبَةٍ وَفَرِحُوا۟ بِهَا جَآءَتْهَا رِيحٌ عَاصِفٌ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ أُحِيطَ بِهِمْ ۙ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ لَئِنْ أَنجَيْتَنَا مِنْ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
huwa llaḏī yusayyirukum fī l-barri wa-l-baḥri ḥattā ˈiḏā kuntum fī l-fulki wa-ǧarayna bihim bi-rīḥin ṭayyibatin wa-fariḥū bihā ǧāˈathā rīḥun ʿāṣifun wa-ǧāˈahumu l-mawǧu min kulli makānin wa-ẓannū ˈannahum ˈuḥīṭa bihim daʿawu llāha muḫliṣīna lahu d-dīna la-ˈin ˈanǧaytanā min hāḏihī la-nakūnanna mina š-šākirīna
It is He who carries you across land and sea. When you are in the ships, and they sail along with them with a favourable wind, exulting in it, there comes upon them a tempestuous wind and waves assail them from every side, and they think that they are besieged, they invoke Allah putting exclusive faith in Him, ‘If You deliver us from this, we will surely be among the grateful.’
فَلَمَّآ أَنجَىٰهُمْ إِذَا هُمْ يَبْغُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ ۗ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُم ۖ مَّتَـٰعَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
fa-lammā ˈanǧāhum ˈiḏā hum yabġūna fī l-ˈarḍi bi-ġayri l-ḥaqqi yā-ˈayyuhā n-nāsu ˈinnamā baġyukum ʿalā ˈanfusikum matāʿa l-ḥayāti d-dunyā ṯumma ˈilaynā marǧiʿukum fa-nunabbiˈukum bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna
But when He delivers them, behold, they commit violations on the earth unduly! O mankind! Your violations are only to your own detriment. [These are] the wares of the life of this world; then to Us will be your return, whereat We will inform you concerning what you used to do.
إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخْتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلْأَرْضِ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمُ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَٱزَّيَّنَتْ وَظَنَّ أَهْلُهَآ أَنَّهُمْ قَـٰدِرُونَ عَلَيْهَآ أَتَىٰهَآ أَمْرُنَا لَيْلًا أَوْ نَهَارًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا حَصِيدًا كَأَن لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِٱلْأَمْسِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
ˈinnamā maṯalu l-ḥayāti d-dunyā ka-māˈin ˈanzalnāhu mina s-samāˈi fa-ḫtalaṭa bihī nabātu l-ˈarḍi mimmā yaˈkulu n-nāsu wa-l-ˈanʿāmu ḥattā ˈiḏā ˈaḫaḏati l-ˈarḍu zuḫrufahā wa-zzayyanat wa-ẓanna ˈahluhā ˈannahum qādirūna ʿalayhā ˈatāhā ˈamrunā laylan ˈaw nahāran fa-ǧaʿalnāhā ḥaṣīdan ka-ˈan lam taġna bi-l-ˈamsi ka-ḏālika nufaṣṣilu l-ˈāyāti li-qawmin yatafakkarūna
The parable of the life of this world is that of water which We send down from the sky. It mingles with the earth’s vegetation from which humans and cattle eat. When the earth puts on its luster and is adorned, and its inhabitants think they have power over it, Our edict comes to it, by night or day, whereat We turn it into a mown field, as if it did not flourish the day before. Thus do We elaborate the signs for a people who reflect.
وَٱللَّهُ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ دَارِ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
wa-llāhu yadʿū ˈilā dāri s-salāmi wa-yahdī man yašāˈu ˈilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin
Allah invites to the abode of peace, and He guides whomever He wishes to a straight path.
لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ وَزِيَادَةٌ ۖ وَلَا يَرْهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمْ قَتَرٌ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
li-llaḏīna ˈaḥsanū l-ḥusnā wa-ziyādatun wa-lā yarhaqu wuǧūhahum qatarun wa-lā ḏillatun ˈulāˈika ˈaṣḥābu l-ǧannati hum fīhā ḫālidūna
Those who are virtuous shall receive the best reward and an enhancement. Neither dust nor abasement shall overcast their faces. They shall be the inhabitants of paradise, and they shall remain in it [forever].
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَسَبُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ جَزَآءُ سَيِّئَةٍۭ بِمِثْلِهَا وَتَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ مَّا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍ ۖ كَأَنَّمَآ أُغْشِيَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ قِطَعًا مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ مُظْلِمًا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
wa-llaḏīna kasabū s-sayyiˈāti ǧazāˈu sayyiˈatin bi-miṯlihā wa-tarhaquhum ḏillatun mā lahum mina llāhi min ʿāṣimin ka-ˈannamā ˈuġšiyat wuǧūhuhum qiṭaʿan mina l-layli muẓliman ˈulāˈika ˈaṣḥābu n-nāri hum fīhā ḫālidūna
For those who have committed misdeeds, the requital of a misdeed shall be its like, and they shall be overcast by abasement. They shall have no one to protect [them] from Allah. [They will be] as if their faces were covered with dark patches of the night. They shall be the inmates of the Fire, and they shall remain in it [forever].
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ مَكَانَكُمْ أَنتُمْ وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمْ ۚ فَزَيَّلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ شُرَكَآؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمْ إِيَّانَا تَعْبُدُونَ
wa-yawma naḥšuruhum ǧamīʿan ṯumma naqūlu li-llaḏīna ˈašrakū makānakum ˈantum wa-šurakāˈukum fa-zayyalnā baynahum wa-qāla šurakāˈuhum mā kuntum ˈiyyānā taʿbudūna
On the day when We gather them all together, We shall say to those who ascribe partners [to Allah], ‘Stay where you are—you and your partners!’ Then We shall set them apart from one another, and their partners will say, ‘It was not us that you worshipped.
فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ إِن كُنَّا عَنْ عِبَادَتِكُمْ لَغَـٰفِلِينَ
fa-kafā bi-llāhi šahīdan baynanā wa-baynakum ˈin kunnā ʿan ʿibādatikum la-ġāfilīna
Allah suffices as a witness between you and us. We were indeed unaware of your worship.’
هُنَالِكَ تَبْلُوا۟ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّآ أَسْلَفَتْ ۚ وَرُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوْلَىٰهُمُ ٱلْحَقِّ ۖ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
hunālika tablū kullu nafsin mā ˈaslafat wa-ruddū ˈilā llāhi mawlāhumu l-ḥaqqi wa-ḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūna
There every soul will examine what it has sent in advance, and they will be returned to Allah, their real master, and what they used to fabricate will forsake them.
قُلْ مَن يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَمَّن يَمْلِكُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَمَن يُخْرِجُ ٱلْحَىَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ ٱلْمَيِّتَ مِنَ ٱلْحَىِّ وَمَن يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ ۚ فَسَيَقُولُونَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ فَقُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
qul man yarzuqukum mina s-samāˈi wa-l-ˈarḍi ˈam-man yamliku s-samʿa wa-l-ˈabṣāra wa-man yuḫriǧu l-ḥayya mina l-mayyiti wa-yuḫriǧu l-mayyita mina l-ḥayyi wa-man yudabbiru l-ˈamra fa-sa-yaqūlūna llāhu fa-qul ˈa-fa-lā tattaqūna
Say, ‘Who provides for you out of the sky and the earth? Who controls [your] hearing and sight, and who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and who directs the command?’ They will say, ‘Allah.’ Say, ‘Will you not then be wary [of Him]?’
فَذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَاذَا بَعْدَ ٱلْحَقِّ إِلَّا ٱلضَّلَـٰلُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُونَ
fa-ḏālikumu llāhu rabbukumu l-ḥaqqu fa-māḏā baʿda l-ḥaqqi ˈillā ḍ-ḍalālu fa-ˈannā tuṣrafūna
That, then, is Allah, your true Lord. So what is there after the truth except error? Then where are you being led away?
كَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
ka-ḏālika ḥaqqat kalimatu rabbika ʿalā llaḏīna fasaqū ˈannahum lā yuˈminūna
Thus the word of your Lord became due against those who transgress, that they shall not have faith.
قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ ۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَبْدَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ
qul hal min šurakāˈikum man yabdaˈu l-ḫalqa ṯumma yuʿīduhū quli llāhu yabdaˈu l-ḫalqa ṯumma yuʿīduhū fa-ˈannā tuˈfakūna
Say, ‘Is there anyone among your partners who originates the creation and then brings it back?’ Say, ‘Allah originates the creation, then He will bring it back.’ Then where do you stray?
قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّن يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يَهْدِى لِلْحَقِّ ۗ أَفَمَن يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلْحَقِّ أَحَقُّ أَن يُتَّبَعَ أَمَّن لَّا يَهِدِّىٓ إِلَّآ أَن يُهْدَىٰ ۖ فَمَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
qul hal min šurakāˈikum man yahdī ˈilā l-ḥaqqi quli llāhu yahdī li-l-ḥaqqi ˈa-fa-man yahdī ˈilā l-ḥaqqi ˈaḥaqqu ˈan yuttabaʿa ˈam-man lā yahiddī ˈillā ˈan yuhdā fa-mā lakum kayfa taḥkumūna
Say, ‘Is there anyone among your partners who may guide to the truth?’ Say, ‘Allah guides to the truth. Is He who guides to the truth worthier to be followed, or he who is not guided unless shown the way? What is the matter with you? How do you judge?’
وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ إِلَّا ظَنًّا ۚ إِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًٔا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَ
wa-mā yattabiʿu ˈakṯaruhum ˈillā ẓannan ˈinna ẓ-ẓanna lā yuġnī mina l-ḥaqqi šayˈan ˈinna llāha ʿalīmun bi-mā yafʿalūna
Most of them just follow conjecture; indeed conjecture is no substitute for the truth. Indeed Allah knows best what they do.
وَمَا كَانَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ أَن يُفْتَرَىٰ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِن تَصْدِيقَ ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
wa-mā kāna hāḏā l-qurˈānu ˈan yuftarā min dūni llāhi wa-lākin taṣdīqa llāḏī bayna yadayhi wa-tafṣīla l-kitābi lā rayba fīhi min rabbi l-ʿālamīna
This Quran could not have been fabricated by anyone besides Allah; rather, it is a confirmation of what was [revealed] before it, and an elaboration of the Book, there is no doubt in it, from the Lord of all the worlds.
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ ۖ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِسُورَةٍ مِّثْلِهِۦ وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
ˈam yaqūlūna ftarāhu qul fa-ˈtū bi-sūratin miṯlihī wa-dʿū mani staṭaʿtum min dūni llāhi ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna
Do they say, ‘He has fabricated it?’ Say, ‘Then bring a surah like it, and invoke whomever you can, besides Allah, should you be truthful.’
بَلْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يُحِيطُوا۟ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِهِمْ تَأْوِيلُهُۥ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
bal kaḏḏabū bi-mā lam yuḥīṭū bi-ʿilmihī wa-lammā yaˈtihim taˈwīluhū ka-ḏālika kaḏḏaba llaḏīna min qablihim fa-nẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu ẓ-ẓālimīna
Indeed, they deny something whose knowledge they do not comprehend, and whose explanation has not yet come to them. Those who were before them denied likewise. So observe how was the fate of the wrongdoers!
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يُؤْمِنُ بِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهِۦ ۚ وَرَبُّكَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
wa-minhum man yuˈminu bihī wa-minhum man lā yuˈminu bihī wa-rabbuka ˈaʿlamu bi-l-mufsidīna
Some of them believe in it, and some of them do not believe in it, and your Lord best knows the agents of corruption.
وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّى عَمَلِى وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْ ۖ أَنتُم بَرِيٓـُٔونَ مِمَّآ أَعْمَلُ وَأَنَا۠ بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
wa-ˈin kaḏḏabūka fa-qul lī ʿamalī wa-lakum ʿamalukum ˈantum barīˈūna mimmā ˈaʿmalu wa-ˈana barīˈun mimmā taʿmalūna
If they deny you, say, ‘My deeds belong to me and your deeds belong to you: you are absolved of what I do and I am absolved of what you do.’
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَ ۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
wa-minhum man yastamiʿūna ˈilayka ˈa-fa-ˈanta tusmiʿu ṣ-ṣumma wa-law kānū lā yaʿqilūna
There are some of them who prick up their ears at you. But can you make the deaf hear even if they do not exercise their reason?
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيْكَ ۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهْدِى ٱلْعُمْىَ وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ
wa-minhum man yanẓuru ˈilayka ˈa-fa-ˈanta tahdī l-ʿumya wa-law kānū lā yubṣirūna
There are some of them who observe you. But can you guide the blind even if they do not perceive?
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
ˈinna llāha lā yaẓlimu n-nāsa šayˈan wa-lākinna n-nāsa ˈanfusahum yaẓlimūna
Indeed Allah does not wrong people in the least; rather, it is people who wrong themselves.
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ كَأَن لَّمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّنَ ٱلنَّهَارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ
wa-yawma yaḥšuruhum ka-ˈan lam yalbaṯū ˈillā sāʿatan mina n-nahāri yataʿārafūna baynahum qad ḫasira llaḏīna kaḏḏabū bi-liqāˈi llāhi wa-mā kānū muhtadīna
On the day He will gather them [it will be] as if they had not remained [in the world] except for an hour of the day getting acquainted with one another. They are certainly losers who deny the encounter with Allah, and they are not guided.
وَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ
wa-ˈimmā nuriyannaka baʿḍa llaḏī naʿiduhum ˈaw natawaffayannaka fa-ˈilaynā marǧiʿuhum ṯumma llāhu šahīdun ʿalā mā yafʿalūna
Whether We show you a part of what We promise them, or take you away [before that], [in any case] their return will be to Us and Allah will be witness to what they do.
وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولٌ ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ رَسُولُهُمْ قُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
wa-li-kulli ˈummatin rasūlun fa-ˈiḏā ǧāˈa rasūluhum quḍiya baynahum bi-l-qisṭi wa-hum lā yuẓlamūna
There is an apostle for every nation; so when their apostle comes, judgement is made between them with justice, and they are not wronged.
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
wa-yaqūlūna matā hāḏā l-waʿdu ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna
They say, ‘When will this promise be fulfilled, should you be truthful?’
قُل لَّآ أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِى ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۗ لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌ ۚ إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةً ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
qul lā ˈamliku li-nafsī ḍarran wa-lā nafʿan ˈillā mā šāˈa llāhu li-kulli ˈummatin ˈaǧalun ˈiḏā ǧāˈa ˈaǧaluhum fa-lā yastaˈḫirūna sāʿatan wa-lā yastaqdimūna
Say, ‘I have no control over any benefit for myself nor [over] any harm except what Allah may wish. There is a time for every nation: when their time comes, they shall not defer it by a single hour nor shall they advance it.’
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَـٰتًا أَوْ نَهَارًا مَّاذَا يَسْتَعْجِلُ مِنْهُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
qul ˈa-raˈaytum ˈin ˈatākum ʿaḏābuhū bayātan ˈaw nahāran māḏā yastaʿǧilu minhu l-muǧrimūna
Say, ‘Tell me, should His punishment overtake you by night or day, [you will not be able to avert it]; so what part of it do the guilty seek to hasten?’
أَثُمَّ إِذَا مَا وَقَعَ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦٓ ۚ ءَآلْـَٔـٰنَ وَقَدْ كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
ˈa-ṯumma ˈiḏā mā waqaʿa ˈāmantum bihī ˈāl-ˈāna wa-qad kuntum bihī tastaʿǧilūna
‘What! Do you believe it when it has befallen? Now? While you would seek to hasten it [earlier]?!’
ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْخُلْدِ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ
ṯumma qīla li-llaḏīna ẓalamū ḏūqū ʿaḏāba l-ḫuldi hal tuǧzawna ˈillā bi-mā kuntum taksibūna
Then it will be said to those who were wrongdoers, ‘Taste the everlasting punishment. Shall you not be requited for what you used to earn?’
وَيَسْتَنۢبِـُٔونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَ ۖ قُلْ إِى وَرَبِّىٓ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقٌّ ۖ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ
wa-yastanbiˈūnaka ˈa-ḥaqqun huwa qul ˈī wa-rabbī ˈinnahū la-ḥaqqun wa-mā ˈantum bi-muʿǧizīna
They inquire of you, ‘Is it true?’ Say, ‘Yes! By my Lord, it is true, and you cannot frustrate [Him].’
وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِكُلِّ نَفْسٍ ظَلَمَتْ مَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَٱفْتَدَتْ بِهِۦ ۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ۖ وَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
wa-law ˈanna li-kulli nafsin ẓalamat mā fī l-ˈarḍi la-ftadat bihī wa-ˈasarrū n-nadāmata lammā raˈawu l-ʿaḏāba wa-quḍiya baynahum bi-l-qisṭi wa-hum lā yuẓlamūna
Were any soul that has done wrong to possess whatever there is on the earth, it would surely offer it for ransom. They will hide their remorse when they sight the punishment; and judgement will be made between them with justice and they will not be wronged.
أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
ˈa-lā ˈinna li-llāhi mā fī s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi ˈa-lā ˈinna waʿda llāhi ḥaqqun wa-lākinna ˈakṯarahum lā yaʿlamūna
Look! To Allah indeed belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Look! Allah’s promise is indeed true; but most of them do not know.
هُوَ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
huwa yuḥyī wa-yumītu wa-ˈilayhi turǧaʿūna
It is He who gives life and brings death, and to Him you shall be brought back.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَآءٌ لِّمَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
yā-ˈayyuhā n-nāsu qad ǧāˈatkum mawʿiẓatun min rabbikum wa-šifāˈun li-mā fī ṣ-ṣudūri wa-hudan wa-raḥmatun li-l-muˈminīna
O mankind! There has certainly come to you an advice from your Lord, and a cure for what is in the breasts, and a guidance and mercy for the faithful.
قُلْ بِفَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِۦ فَبِذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا۟ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ
qul bi-faḍli llāhi wa-bi-raḥmatihī fa-bi-ḏālika fa-l-yafraḥū huwa ḫayrun mimmā yaǧmaʿūna
Say, ‘In Allah’s grace and His mercy—let them rejoice in that! It is better than what they amass.’
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ فَجَعَلْتُم مِّنْهُ حَرَامًا وَحَلَـٰلًا قُلْ ءَآللَّهُ أَذِنَ لَكُمْ ۖ أَمْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَفْتَرُونَ
qul ˈa-raˈaytum mā ˈanzala llāhu lakum min rizqin fa-ǧaʿaltum minhu ḥarāman wa-ḥalālan qul ˈāllāhu ˈaḏina lakum ˈam ʿalā llāhi taftarūna
Say, ‘Have you regarded what Allah has sent down for you of [His] provision, whereupon you have made some of it unlawful and [some] lawful?’ Say, ‘Did Allah give you the sanction [to do so], or do you fabricate a lie against Allah?’
وَمَا ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ
wa-mā ẓannu llaḏīna yaftarūna ʿalā llāhi l-kaḏiba yawma l-qiyāmati ˈinna llāha la-ḏū faḍlin ʿalā n-nāsi wa-lākinna ˈakṯarahum lā yaškurūna
What is the idea of those who fabricate lies against Allah [concerning their situation] on the Day of Resurrection? Indeed Allah is gracious to mankind, but most of them do not give thanks.
وَمَا تَكُونُ فِى شَأْنٍ وَمَا تَتْلُوا۟ مِنْهُ مِن قُرْءَانٍ وَلَا تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَيْكُمْ شُهُودًا إِذْ تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَا يَعْزُبُ عَن رَّبِّكَ مِن مِّثْقَالِ ذَرَّةٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَلَآ أَصْغَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكْبَرَ إِلَّا فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ
wa-mā takūnu fī šaˈnin wa-mā tatlū minhu min qurˈānin wa-lā taʿmalūna min ʿamalin ˈillā kunnā ʿalaykum šuhūdan ˈiḏ tufīḍūna fīhi wa-mā yaʿzubu ʿan rabbika min miṯqāli ḏarratin fī l-ˈarḍi wa-lā fī s-samāˈi wa-lā ˈaṣġara min ḏālika wa-lā ˈakbara ˈillā fī kitābin mubīnin
You do not engage in any work, neither do you recite any part of the Quran, nor do you perform any deed without Our being witness over you when you are engaged therein. Not an atom’s weight escapes your Lord in the earth or in the sky, nor [is there] anything smaller than that nor bigger, but it is in a manifest Book.
أَلَآ إِنَّ أَوْلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
ˈa-lā ˈinna ˈawliyāˈa llāhi lā ḫawfun ʿalayhim wa-lā hum yaḥzanūna
Look! The friends of Allah will indeed have no fear nor will they grieve
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ
allaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-kānū yattaqūna
—those who have faith and are Godwary.
لَهُمُ ٱلْبُشْرَىٰ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَفِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۚ لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
lahumu l-bušrā fī l-ḥayāti d-dunyā wa-fī l-ˈāḫirati lā tabdīla li-kalimāti llāhi ḏālika huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu
For them is good news in the life of this world and in the Hereafter. (There is no altering the words of Allah.) That is the great success.
وَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّ ٱلْعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا ۚ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
wa-lā yaḥzunka qawluhum ˈinna l-ʿizzata li-llāhi ǧamīʿan huwa s-samīʿu l-ʿalīmu
Do not grieve at their remarks; indeed all might belongs to Allah; He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.
أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُرَكَآءَ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ
ˈa-lā ˈinna li-llāhi man fī s-samāwāti wa-man fī l-ˈarḍi wa-mā yattabiʿu llaḏīna yadʿūna min dūni llāhi šurakāˈa ˈin yattabiʿūna ˈillā ẓ-ẓanna wa-ˈin hum ˈillā yaḫruṣūna
Look! To Allah indeed belongs whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth. What do they pursue who invoke partners besides Allah? They merely follow conjectures and they just make surmises.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَسْمَعُونَ
huwa llaḏī ǧaʿala lakumu l-layla li-taskunū fīhi wa-n-nahāra mubṣiran ˈinna fī ḏālika la-ˈāyātin li-qawmin yasmaʿūna
It is He who made the night for you, that you may rest in it, and the day to provide visibility. There are indeed signs in that for people who listen.
قَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدًا ۗ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۖ هُوَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ۖ لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ إِنْ عِندَكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ بِهَـٰذَآ ۚ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
qālū ttaḫaḏa llāhu waladan subḥānahū huwa l-ġaniyyu lahū mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ˈarḍi ˈin ʿindakum min sulṭānin bi-hāḏā ˈa-taqūlūna ʿalā llāhi mā lā taʿlamūna
They say, ‘Allah has taken a son!’ Immaculate is He! He is the All-sufficient. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. You have no authority for this [statement]. Do you attribute to Allah what you do not know?
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ لَا يُفْلِحُونَ
qul ˈinna llaḏīna yaftarūna ʿalā llāhi l-kaḏiba lā yufliḥūna
Say, ‘Indeed those who fabricate lies against Allah will not be felicitous.’
مَتَـٰعٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ ثُمَّ نُذِيقُهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلشَّدِيدَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ
matāʿun fī d-dunyā ṯumma ˈilaynā marǧiʿuhum ṯumma nuḏīquhumu l-ʿaḏāba š-šadīda bi-mā kānū yakfurūna
An enjoyment in this world; then to Us shall be their return, then We shall make them taste the severe punishment because of what they used to defy.
وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ نُوحٍ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكُم مَّقَامِى وَتَذْكِيرِى بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ فَأَجْمِعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَكُمْ وَشُرَكَآءَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُنْ أَمْرُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ غُمَّةً ثُمَّ ٱقْضُوٓا۟ إِلَىَّ وَلَا تُنظِرُونِ
wa-tlu ʿalayhim nabaˈa nūḥin ˈiḏ qāla li-qawmihī yā-qawmi ˈin kāna kabura ʿalaykum maqāmī wa-taḏkīrī bi-ˈāyāti llāhi fa-ʿalā llāhi tawakkaltu fa-ˈaǧmiʿū ˈamrakum wa-šurakāˈakum ṯumma lā yakun ˈamrukum ʿalaykum ġummatan ṯumma qḍū ˈilayya wa-lā tunẓirūni
Relate to them the account of Noah when he said to his people, ‘O my people! If my stay [among you] be hard on you and [also] my reminding you of Allah’s signs, [for my part] I have put my trust in Allah. So conspire together, along with your partners, leaving nothing vague in your plan, then carry it out against me without giving me any respite.
فَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَمَا سَأَلْتُكُم مِّنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
fa-ˈin tawallaytum fa-mā saˈaltukum min ˈaǧrin ˈin ˈaǧriya ˈillā ʿalā llāhi wa-ˈumirtu ˈan ˈakūna mina l-muslimīna
If you turn your back [on me], I do not ask any reward from you; my reward lies only with Allah and I have been commanded to be of those who submit [to Allah].’
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ خَلَـٰٓئِفَ وَأَغْرَقْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا ۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
fa-kaḏḏabūhu fa-naǧǧaynāhu wa-man maʿahū fī l-fulki wa-ǧaʿalnāhum ḫalāˈifa wa-ˈaġraqnā llaḏīna kaḏḏabū bi-ˈāyātinā fa-nẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-munḏarīna
But they impugned him. So We delivered him and those who were with him in the ark and We made them the successors, and We drowned those who denied Our signs. So observe how was the fate of those who were warned!
ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ رُسُلًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِمْ فَجَآءُوهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِمَا كَذَّبُوا۟ بِهِۦ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَطْبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ
ṯumma baʿaṯnā min baʿdihī rusulan ˈilā qawmihim fa-ǧāˈūhum bi-l-bayyināti fa-mā kānū li-yuˈminū bi-mā kaḏḏabū bihī min qablu ka-ḏālika naṭbaʿu ʿalā qulūbi l-muʿtadīna
Then after him We sent [other] apostles to their people. They brought them manifest proofs, but they would not believe something they had denied before. Thus do We seal the hearts of the transgressors.
ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِم مُّوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِينَ
ṯumma baʿaṯnā min baʿdihim mūsā wa-hārūna ˈilā firʿawna wa-malaˈihī bi-ˈāyātinā fa-stakbarū wa-kānū qawman muǧrimīna
Then, after them, We sent Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his elite with Our signs, but they acted arrogantly and they were a guilty lot.
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
fa-lammā ǧāˈahumu l-ḥaqqu min ʿindinā qālū ˈinna hāḏā la-siḥrun mubīnun
When the truth from Us came to them, they said, ‘This is indeed plain magic!’
قَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَتَقُولُونَ لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَكُمْ ۖ أَسِحْرٌ هَـٰذَا وَلَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلسَّـٰحِرُونَ
qāla mūsā ˈa-taqūlūna li-l-ḥaqqi lammā ǧāˈakum ˈa-siḥrun hāḏā wa-lā yufliḥu s-sāḥirūna
Moses said, ‘Do you say of the truth when it comes to you [that it is magic]? Is this magic? Magicians do not find salvation.’
قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَلْفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا ٱلْكِبْرِيَآءُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
qālū ˈa-ǧiˈtanā li-talfitanā ʿammā waǧadnā ʿalayhi ˈābāˈanā wa-takūna lakumā l-kibriyāˈu fī l-ˈarḍi wa-mā naḥnu lakumā bi-muˈminīna
They said, ‘Have you come to us to turn us away from what we found our fathers following, so that supremacy may be yours in the land? We will not believe in the two of you.’
وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱئْتُونِى بِكُلِّ سَـٰحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ
wa-qāla firʿawnu ˈtūnī bi-kulli sāḥirin ʿalīmin
Pharaoh said, ‘Bring me every expert magician.’
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ
fa-lammā ǧāˈa s-saḥaratu qāla lahum mūsā ˈalqū mā ˈantum mulqūna
So when the magicians came, Moses said to them, ‘Throw down what you have to throw.’
فَلَمَّآ أَلْقَوْا۟ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ مَا جِئْتُم بِهِ ٱلسِّحْرُ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَيُبْطِلُهُۥٓ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
fa-lammā ˈalqaw qāla mūsā mā ǧiˈtum bihī s-siḥru ˈinna llāha sa-yubṭiluhū ˈinna llāha lā yuṣliḥu ʿamala l-mufsidīna
So when they threw down [their sticks and ropes], Moses said, ‘What you have produced is magic. Indeed Allah will bring it to naught presently. Indeed Allah does not foster the efforts of those who cause corruption.
وَيُحِقُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
wa-yuḥiqqu llāhu l-ḥaqqa bi-kalimātihī wa-law kariha l-muǧrimūna
Allah will confirm the truth with His words, though the guilty should be averse.’
فَمَآ ءَامَنَ لِمُوسَىٰٓ إِلَّا ذُرِّيَّةٌ مِّن قَوْمِهِۦ عَلَىٰ خَوْفٍ مِّن فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِمْ أَن يَفْتِنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ لَعَالٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
fa-mā ˈāmana li-mūsā ˈillā ḏurriyyatun min qawmihī ʿalā ḫawfin min firʿawna wa-malaˈihim ˈan yaftinahum wa-ˈinna firʿawna la-ʿālin fī l-ˈarḍi wa-ˈinnahū la-mina l-musrifīna
But none believed in Moses except some youths from among his people, for the fear of Pharaoh and his elite that he would persecute them. For Pharaoh was indeed a tyrant in the land, and indeed he was an unrestrained [despot].
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِن كُنتُمْ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ فَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلُوٓا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّسْلِمِينَ
wa-qāla mūsā yā-qawmi ˈin kuntum ˈāmantum bi-llāhi fa-ʿalayhi tawakkalū ˈin kuntum muslimīna
And Moses said, ‘O my people! If you have faith in Allah, put your trust in Him, if you have submitted [to Him].’
فَقَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
fa-qālū ʿalā llāhi tawakkalnā rabbanā lā taǧʿalnā fitnatan li-l-qawmi ẓ-ẓālimīna
Whereat they said, ‘In Allah we have put our trust.’ ‘Our Lord! Do not make us a [means of] test for the wrongdoing lot,
وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
wa-naǧǧinā bi-raḥmatika mina l-qawmi l-kāfirīna
and deliver us by Your mercy from the faithless lot.’
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِيهِ أَن تَبَوَّءَا لِقَوْمِكُمَا بِمِصْرَ بُيُوتًا وَٱجْعَلُوا۟ بُيُوتَكُمْ قِبْلَةً وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wa-ˈawḥaynā ˈilā mūsā wa-ˈaḫīhi ˈan tabawwaˈā li-qawmikumā bi-miṣra buyūtan wa-ǧʿalū buyūtakum qiblatan wa-ˈaqīmū ṣ-ṣalāta wa-bašširi l-muˈminīna
We revealed to Moses and his brother [saying], ‘Settle your people in the city, and let your houses face each other, and maintain the prayer, and give good news to the faithful.’
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِينَةً وَأَمْوَٰلًا فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِكَ ۖ رَبَّنَا ٱطْمِسْ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَٱشْدُدْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
wa-qāla mūsā rabbanā ˈinnaka ˈātayta firʿawna wa-malaˈahū zīnatan wa-ˈamwālan fī l-ḥayāti d-dunyā rabbanā li-yuḍillū ʿan sabīlika rabbanā ṭmis ʿalā ˈamwālihim wa-šdud ʿalā qulūbihim fa-lā yuˈminū ḥattā yarawu l-ʿaḏāba l-ˈalīma
Moses said, ‘Our Lord! You have given Pharaoh and his elite glamour and wealth in the life of this world, our Lord, that they may lead [people] astray from Your way! Our Lord! Blot out their wealth and harden their hearts so that they do not believe until they sight the painful punishment.’
قَالَ قَدْ أُجِيبَت دَّعْوَتُكُمَا فَٱسْتَقِيمَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعَآنِّ سَبِيلَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
qāla qad ˈuǧībat daʿwatukumā fa-staqīmā wa-lā tattabiʿānni sabīla llaḏīna lā yaʿlamūna
Said He, ‘Your supplication has already been granted. So be steadfast, and do not follow the way of those who do not know.’
وَجَـٰوَزْنَا بِبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ بَغْيًا وَعَدْوًا ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَدْرَكَهُ ٱلْغَرَقُ قَالَ ءَامَنتُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَتْ بِهِۦ بَنُوٓا۟ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
wa-ǧāwaznā bi-banī ˈisrāˈīla l-baḥra fa-ˈatbaʿahum firʿawnu wa-ǧunūduhū baġyan wa-ʿadwan ḥattā ˈiḏā ˈadrakahu l-ġaraqu qāla ˈāmantu ˈannahū lā ˈilāha ˈillā llaḏī ˈāmanat bihī banū ˈisrāˈīla wa-ˈana mina l-muslimīna
We carried the Children of Israel across the sea, whereat Pharaoh and his troops pursued them, out of defiance and aggression. When overtaken by drowning, he called out, ‘I believe that there is no god except Him in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of those who submit [to Him]!’
ءَآلْـَٔـٰنَ وَقَدْ عَصَيْتَ قَبْلُ وَكُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
ˈāl-ˈāna wa-qad ʿaṣayta qablu wa-kunta mina l-mufsidīna
[He was told,] ‘What! Now? When you have been disobedient heretofore and were among the agents of corruption?!
فَٱلْيَوْمَ نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنْ خَلْفَكَ ءَايَةً ۚ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا لَغَـٰفِلُونَ
fa-l-yawma nunaǧǧīka bi-badanika li-takūna li-man ḫalfaka ˈāyatan wa-ˈinna kaṯīran mina n-nāsi ʿan ˈāyātinā la-ġāfilūna
So today We shall deliver your body so that you may be a sign for those who come after you.’ Indeed many of the people are oblivious to Our signs.
وَلَقَدْ بَوَّأْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ مُبَوَّأَ صِدْقٍ وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ فَمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعِلْمُ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِى بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
wa-la-qad bawwaˈnā banī ˈisrāˈīla mubawwaˈa ṣidqin wa-razaqnāhum mina ṭ-ṭayyibāti fa-mā ḫtalafū ḥattā ǧāˈahumu l-ʿilmu ˈinna rabbaka yaqḍī baynahum yawma l-qiyāmati fī-mā kānū fīhi yaḫtalifūna
Certainly We settled the Children of Israel in a worthy settlement and We provided them with all the good things, and they did not differ until [after] the knowledge had come to them. Your Lord will indeed judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that about which they used to differ.
فَإِن كُنتَ فِى شَكٍّ مِّمَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ فَسْـَٔلِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقْرَءُونَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكَ ۚ لَقَدْ جَآءَكَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ
fa-ˈin kunta fī šakkin mimmā ˈanzalnā ˈilayka fa-sˈali llaḏīna yaqraˈūna l-kitāba min qablika la-qad ǧāˈaka l-ḥaqqu min rabbika fa-lā takūnanna mina l-mumtarīna
So if you are in doubt about what We have sent down to you, ask those who read the Book [revealed] before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord; so do not be among the skeptics.
وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ
wa-lā takūnanna mina llaḏīna kaḏḏabū bi-ˈāyāti llāhi fa-takūna mina l-ḫāsirīna
And do not be of those who deny the signs of Allah, [for] then you shall be among the losers.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِمْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
ˈinna llaḏīna ḥaqqat ʿalayhim kalimatu rabbika lā yuˈminūna
Indeed those against whom your Lord’s judgement has become due will not have faith,
وَلَوْ جَآءَتْهُمْ كُلُّ ءَايَةٍ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ
wa-law ǧāˈathum kullu ˈāyatin ḥattā yarawu l-ʿaḏāba l-ˈalīma
even though every sign were to come to them, until they sight the painful punishment.
فَلَوْلَا كَانَتْ قَرْيَةٌ ءَامَنَتْ فَنَفَعَهَآ إِيمَـٰنُهَآ إِلَّا قَوْمَ يُونُسَ لَمَّآ ءَامَنُوا۟ كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْخِزْىِ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
fa-law-lā kānat qaryatun ˈāmanat fa-nafaʿahā ˈīmānuhā ˈillā qawma yūnusa lammā ˈāmanū kašafnā ʿanhum ʿaḏāba l-ḫizyi fī l-ḥayāti d-dunyā wa-mattaʿnāhum ˈilā ḥīnin
Why has there not been any town that might believe, so that its belief might benefit it, except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in the life of this world, and We provided for them for a while.
وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ لَـَٔامَنَ مَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ كُلُّهُمْ جَمِيعًا ۚ أَفَأَنتَ تُكْرِهُ ٱلنَّاسَ حَتَّىٰ يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
wa-law šāˈa rabbuka la-ˈāmana man fī l-ˈarḍi kulluhum ǧamīʿan ˈa-fa-ˈanta tukrihu n-nāsa ḥattā yakūnū muˈminīna
Had your Lord wished, all those who are on earth would have believed. Would you then force people until they become faithful?
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفْسٍ أَن تُؤْمِنَ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَيَجْعَلُ ٱلرِّجْسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
wa-mā kāna li-nafsin ˈan tuˈmina ˈillā bi-ˈiḏni llāhi wa-yaǧʿalu r-riǧsa ʿalā llaḏīna lā yaʿqilūna
No soul may have faith except by Allah’s leave, and He lays defilement on those who do not exercise their reason.
قُلِ ٱنظُرُوا۟ مَاذَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَا تُغْنِى ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتُ وَٱلنُّذُرُ عَن قَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
quli nẓurū māḏā fī s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-mā tuġnī l-ˈāyātu wa-n-nuḏuru ʿan qawmin lā yuˈminūna
Say, ‘Observe what is in the heavens and the earth.’ But neither signs nor warnings avail a people who have no faith.
فَهَلْ يَنتَظِرُونَ إِلَّا مِثْلَ أَيَّامِ ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ قُلْ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ
fa-hal yantaẓirūna ˈillā miṯla ˈayyāmi llaḏīna ḫalaw min qablihim qul fa-ntaẓirū ˈinnī maʿakum mina l-muntaẓirīna
Do they await anything except the like of the days of those who passed away before them? Say, ‘Then wait! I too am waiting along with you.’
ثُمَّ نُنَجِّى رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ حَقًّا عَلَيْنَا نُنجِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
ṯumma nunaǧǧī rusulanā wa-llaḏīna ˈāmanū ka-ḏālika ḥaqqan ʿalaynā nunǧi l-muˈminīna
Then We shall deliver Our apostles and those who have faith. Thus, it is a must for Us to deliver the faithful.
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّن دِينِى فَلَآ أَعْبُدُ ٱلَّذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَـٰكِنْ أَعْبُدُ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِى يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمْ ۖ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
qul yā-ˈayyuhā n-nāsu ˈin kuntum fī šakkin min dīnī fa-lā ˈaʿbudu llaḏīna taʿbudūna min dūni llāhi wa-lākin ˈaʿbudu llāha llaḏī yatawaffākum wa-ˈumirtu ˈan ˈakūna mina l-muˈminīna
Say, ‘O people! if you are in doubt about my religion, then [know that] I do not worship those whom you worship besides Allah. Rather, I worship only Allah, who causes you to die, and I have been commanded to be among the faithful,
وَأَنْ أَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
wa-ˈan ˈaqim waǧhaka li-d-dīni ḥanīfan wa-lā takūnanna mina l-mušrikīna
and that: ‘‘Dedicate yourself to the religion, as a Hanif, and never be one of the polytheists.
وَلَا تَدْعُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَ ۖ فَإِن فَعَلْتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذًا مِّنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
wa-lā tadʿu min dūni llāhi mā lā yanfaʿuka wa-lā yaḍurruka fa-ˈin faʿalta fa-ˈinnaka ˈiḏan mina ẓ-ẓālimīna
Nor invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor can do you any harm. For if you do so, then you will indeed be among the wrongdoers.’’ ’
وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَإِن يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلَا رَآدَّ لِفَضْلِهِۦ ۚ يُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
wa-ˈin yamsaska llāhu bi-ḍurrin fa-lā kāšifa lahū ˈillā huwa wa-ˈin yuridka bi-ḫayrin fa-lā rādda li-faḍlihī yuṣību bihī man yašāˈu min ʿibādihī wa-huwa l-ġafūru r-raḥīmu
Should Allah visit you with some distress, there is no one to remove it except Him; and should He desire any good for you, none can stand in the way of His grace: He grants it to whomever He wishes of His servants, and He is the All-forgiving, the All-merciful.
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِى لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۖ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٍ
qul yā-ˈayyuhā n-nāsu qad ǧāˈakumu l-ḥaqqu min rabbikum fa-mani htadā fa-ˈinnamā yahtadī li-nafsihī wa-man ḍalla fa-ˈinnamā yaḍillu ʿalayhā wa-mā ˈana ʿalaykum bi-wakīlin
Say, ‘O mankind! The truth has already come to you from your Lord. Whoever is guided, is guided only for [the good of] his own soul, and whoever goes astray, goes astray only to its detriment, and it is not my business to watch over you.’
وَٱتَّبِعْ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَٱصْبِرْ حَتَّىٰ يَحْكُمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلْحَـٰكِمِينَ
wa-ttabiʿ mā yūḥā ˈilayka wa-ṣbir ḥattā yaḥkuma llāhu wa-huwa ḫayru l-ḥākimīna
And follow that which is revealed to you, and be patient until Allah issues [His] judgement, and He is the best of judges.
