Surah As-Saaffaat

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 37:1

   وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّا﴿١﴾

   wa-ṣ-ṣāffāti ṣaffan

   By the [angels] ranged in ranks,

2. 37:2

   فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًا﴿٢﴾

   fa-z-zāǧirāti zaǧran

   by the ones who drive [the clouds] vigorously,

3. 37:3

   فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا﴿٣﴾

   fa-t-tāliyāti ḏikran

   by the ones who recite the reminder:

4. 37:4

   إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ﴿٤﴾

   ˈinna ˈilāhakum la-wāḥidun

   indeed your God is certainly One,

5. 37:5

   رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ﴿٥﴾

   rabbu s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-mā baynahumā wa-rabbu l-mašāriqi

   the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and the Lord of the easts.

6. 37:6

   إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ﴿٦﴾

   ˈinnā zayyannā s-samāˈa d-dunyā bi-zīnatin-i l-kawākibi

   Indeed We have adorned the lowest heaven with the finery of the stars,

7. 37:7

   وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ﴿٧﴾

   wa-ḥifẓan min kulli šayṭānin māridin

   and to guard from any froward devil.

8. 37:8

   لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ﴿٨﴾

   lā yassammaʿūna ˈilā l-malaˈi l-ˈaʿlā wa-yuqḏafūna min kulli ǧānibin

   They do not eavesdrop on the Supernal Elite—they are shot at from every side,

9. 37:9

   دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ﴿٩﴾

   duḥūran wa-lahum ʿaḏābun wāṣibun

   to drive them away, and there is a perpetual punishment for them—

10. 37:10

    إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ﴿١٠﴾

    ˈillā man ḫaṭifa l-ḫaṭfata fa-ˈatbaʿahū šihābun ṯāqibun

    except any who snatches a snatch, whereat a piercing flame pursues him.

11. 37:11

    فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ﴿١١﴾

    fa-staftihim ˈa-hum ˈašaddu ḫalqan ˈam man ḫalaqnā ˈinnā ḫalaqnāhum min ṭīnin lāzibin

    Ask them, is their creation more prodigious or [that of other creatures] that We have created? Indeed, We created them from a viscous clay.

12. 37:12

    بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ﴿١٢﴾

    bal ʿaǧibta wa-yasḫarūna

    Indeed you wonder, while they engage in ridicule,

13. 37:13

    وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ﴿١٣﴾

    wa-ˈiḏā ḏukkirū lā yaḏkurūna

    and [even] when admonished do not take admonition,

14. 37:14

    وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ﴿١٤﴾

    wa-ˈiḏā raˈaw ˈāyatan yastasḫirūna

    and when they see a sign they make it an object of ridicule,

15. 37:15

    وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ﴿١٥﴾

    wa-qālū ˈin hāḏā ˈillā siḥrun mubīnun

    and say, ‘This is nothing but plain magic!’

16. 37:16

    أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ﴿١٦﴾

    ˈa-ˈiḏā mitnā wa-kunnā turāban wa-ʿiẓāman ˈa-ˈinnā la-mabʿūṯūna

    ‘What! When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected?

17. 37:17

    أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ﴿١٧﴾

    ˈa-wa-ˈābāˈunā l-ˈawwalūna

    And our forefathers too?!’

18. 37:18

    قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ﴿١٨﴾

    qul naʿam wa-ˈantum dāḫirūna

    Say, ‘Yes! And you will be utterly humble.’

19. 37:19

    فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ﴿١٩﴾

    fa-ˈinnamā hiya zaǧratun wāḥidatun fa-ˈiḏā hum yanẓurūna

    It will be only a single shout and, behold, they will look on,

20. 37:20

    وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ﴿٢٠﴾

    wa-qālū yā-waylanā hāḏā yawmu d-dīni

    and say, ‘Woe to us! This is the Day of Retribution!’

21. 37:21

    هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿٢١﴾

    hāḏā yawmu l-faṣli llaḏī kuntum bihī tukaḏḏibūna

    ‘This is the Day of Judgement that you used to deny!’

22. 37:22

    ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ﴿٢٢﴾

    uḥšurū llaḏīna ẓalamū wa-ˈazwāǧahum wa-mā kānū yaʿbudūna

    ‘Muster the wrongdoers and their mates and what they used to worship

23. 37:23

    مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٢٣﴾

    min dūni llāhi fa-hdūhum ˈilā ṣirāṭi l-ǧaḥīmi

    besides Allah, and show them the way to hell!

24. 37:24

    وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ﴿٢٤﴾

    wa-qifūhum ˈinnahum masˈūlūna

    [But first] stop them! For they must be questioned.’

25. 37:25

    مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ﴿٢٥﴾

    mā lakum lā tanāṣarūna

    ‘Why is it that you do not support one another [today]?’

26. 37:26

    بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ﴿٢٦﴾

    bal humu l-yawma mustaslimūna

    ‘Indeed, they are [meek and] submissive today!’

27. 37:27

    وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿٢٧﴾

    wa-ˈaqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāˈalūna

    Some of them will turn to others, questioning each other.

28. 37:28

    قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ﴿٢٨﴾

    qālū ˈinnakum kuntum taˈtūnanā ʿani l-yamīni

    They will say, ‘Indeed you used to accost us peremptorily.’

29. 37:29

    قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ﴿٢٩﴾

    qālū bal lam takūnū muˈminīna

    They will answer, ‘No, you [yourselves] had no faith.

30. 37:30

    وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ﴿٣٠﴾

    wa-mā kāna lanā ʿalaykum min sulṭānin bal kuntum qawman ṭāġīna

    We had no authority over you. No, you [yourselves] were a rebellious lot.

31. 37:31

    فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ﴿٣١﴾

    fa-ḥaqqa ʿalaynā qawlu rabbinā ˈinnā la-ḏāˈiqūna

    So our Lord’s word became due against us that we shall indeed taste [the punishment].

32. 37:32

    فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ﴿٣٢﴾

    fa-ˈaġwaynākum ˈinnā kunnā ġāwīna

    So we perverted you, for we were perverse [ourselves].’

33. 37:33

    فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ﴿٣٣﴾

    fa-ˈinnahum yawmaˈiḏin fī l-ʿaḏābi muštarikūna

    So, that day they will share the punishment.

34. 37:34

    إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ﴿٣٤﴾

    ˈinnā ka-ḏālika nafʿalu bi-l-muǧrimīna

    Indeed, that is how We deal with the guilty.

35. 37:35

    إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ﴿٣٥﴾

    ˈinnahum kānū ˈiḏā qīla lahum lā ˈilāha ˈillā llāhu yastakbirūna

    Indeed, it was they who, when they were told, ‘There is no god except Allah,’ used to be disdainful,

36. 37:36

    وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ﴿٣٦﴾

    wa-yaqūlūna ˈa-ˈinnā la-tārikū ˈālihatinā li-šāʿirin maǧnūnin

    and [they would] say, ‘Shall we abandon our gods for a crazy poet?’

37. 37:37

    بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿٣٧﴾

    bal ǧāˈa bi-l-ḥaqqi wa-ṣaddaqa l-mursalīna

    Indeed, he has brought [them] the truth, and confirmed the [earlier] apostles.

38. 37:38

    إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ﴿٣٨﴾

    ˈinnakum la-ḏāˈiqū l-ʿaḏābi l-ˈalīmi

    Indeed you will taste the painful punishment,

39. 37:39

    وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿٣٩﴾

    wa-mā tuǧzawna ˈillā mā kuntum taʿmalūna

    and you will be requited only for what you used to do

40. 37:40

    إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿٤٠﴾

    ˈillā ʿibāda llāhi l-muḫlaṣīna

    —[all] except Allah’s exclusive servants.

41. 37:41

    أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ﴿٤١﴾

    ˈulāˈika lahum rizqun maʿlūmun

    For such there is a known provision

42. 37:42

    فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ﴿٤٢﴾

    fawākihu wa-hum mukramūna

    —fruits—and they will be held in honour,

43. 37:43

    فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ﴿٤٣﴾

    fī ǧannāti n-naʿīmi

    in the gardens of bliss,

44. 37:44

    عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ﴿٤٤﴾

    ʿalā sururin mutaqābilīna

    [reclining] on couches, facing one another,

45. 37:45

    يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ﴿٤٥﴾

    yuṭāfu ʿalayhim bi-kaˈsin min maʿīnin

    served around with a cup, from a clear fountain,

46. 37:46

    بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ﴿٤٦﴾

    bayḍāˈa laḏḏatin li-š-šāribīna

    snow-white, delicious to the drinkers,

47. 37:47

    لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ﴿٤٧﴾

    lā fīhā ġawlun wa-lā hum ʿanhā yunzafūna

    wherein there will be neither headache nor will it cause them stupefaction,

48. 37:48

    وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ﴿٤٨﴾

    wa-ʿindahum qāṣirātu ṭ-ṭarfi ʿīnun

    and with them will be maidens, of restrained glances with big [beautiful] eyes,

49. 37:49

    كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ﴿٤٩﴾

    ka-ˈannahunna bayḍun maknūnun

    as if they were hidden ostrich eggs.

50. 37:50

    فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿٥٠﴾

    fa-ˈaqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāˈalūna

    Some of them will turn to others, questioning each other.

51. 37:51

    قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ﴿٥١﴾

    qāla qāˈilun minhum ˈinnī kāna lī qarīnun

    One of them will say, ‘Indeed I had a companion

52. 37:52

    يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ﴿٥٢﴾

    yaqūlu ˈa-ˈinnaka la-mina l-muṣaddiqīna

    who used to say, ‘‘Are you really among those who affirm

53. 37:53

    أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ﴿٥٣﴾

    ˈa-ˈiḏā mitnā wa-kunnā turāban wa-ʿiẓāman ˈa-ˈinnā la-madīnūna

    that when we have died and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to retribution?’’ ’

54. 37:54

    قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ﴿٥٤﴾

    qāla hal ˈantum muṭṭaliʿūna

    He will say, ‘Will you have a look?’

55. 37:55

    فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٥٥﴾

    fa-ṭṭalaʿa fa-raˈāhu fī sawāˈi l-ǧaḥīmi

    Then he will take a look and sight him in the middle of hell.

56. 37:56

    قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ﴿٥٦﴾

    qāla ta-llāhi ˈin kidta la-turdīni

    He will say, ‘By Allah, you had almost ruined me!

57. 37:57

    وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ﴿٥٧﴾

    wa-law-lā niʿmatu rabbī la-kuntu mina l-muḥḍarīna

    Had it not been for my Lord’s blessing, I too would have been among those mustered [in hell]!’

58. 37:58

    أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ﴿٥٨﴾

    ˈa-fa-mā naḥnu bi-mayyitīna

    ‘Is it [true] that we shall not die [anymore],

59. 37:59

    إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ﴿٥٩﴾

    ˈillā mawtatanā l-ˈūlā wa-mā naḥnu bi-muʿaḏḏabīna

    aside from our earlier death, and that we shall not be punished?

60. 37:60

    إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ﴿٦٠﴾

    ˈinna hāḏā la-huwa l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu

    This is indeed the supreme triumph!’

61. 37:61

    لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ﴿٦١﴾

    li-miṯli hāḏā fa-l-yaʿmali l-ʿāmilūna

    Let all workers work for the like of this!

62. 37:62

    أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ﴿٦٢﴾

    ˈa-ḏālika ḫayrun nuzulan ˈam šaǧaratu z-zaqqūmi

    Is this a better reception, or the Zaqqum tree?

63. 37:63

    إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ﴿٦٣﴾

    ˈinnā ǧaʿalnāhā fitnatan li-ẓ-ẓālimīna

    Indeed We have made it a punishment for the wrongdoers.

64. 37:64

    إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٦٤﴾

    ˈinnahā šaǧaratun taḫruǧu fī ˈaṣli l-ǧaḥīmi

    It is a tree that rises from the depths of hell.

65. 37:65

    طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ﴿٦٥﴾

    ṭalʿuhā ka-ˈannahū ruˈūsu š-šayāṭīni

    Its spathes are as if they were devils’ heads.

66. 37:66

    فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ﴿٦٦﴾

    fa-ˈinnahum la-ˈākilūna minhā fa-māliˈūna minhā l-buṭūna

    They will eat from it and gorge with it their bellies.

67. 37:67

    ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ﴿٦٧﴾

    ṯumma ˈinna lahum ʿalayhā la-šawban min ḥamīmin

    On top of that they will take a solution of scalding water.

68. 37:68

    ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٦٨﴾

    ṯumma ˈinna marǧiʿahum la-ˈilā l-ǧaḥīmi

    Then their retreat will be toward hell.

69. 37:69

    إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ﴿٦٩﴾

    ˈinnahum ˈalfaw ˈābāˈahum ḍāllīna

    They had found their fathers astray,

70. 37:70

    فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ﴿٧٠﴾

    fa-hum ʿalā ˈāṯārihim yuhraʿūna

    yet they press onwards in their footsteps.

71. 37:71

    وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿٧١﴾

    wa-la-qad ḍalla qablahum ˈakṯaru l-ˈawwalīna

    Most of the former peoples went astray before them,

72. 37:72

    وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ﴿٧٢﴾

    wa-la-qad ˈarsalnā fīhim munḏirīna

    and We had certainly sent warners among them.

73. 37:73

    فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ﴿٧٣﴾

    fa-nẓur kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-munḏarīna

    So observe how was the fate of those who were warned

74. 37:74

    إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿٧٤﴾

    ˈillā ʿibāda llāhi l-muḫlaṣīna

    —[all] except Allah’s exclusive servants!

75. 37:75

    وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ﴿٧٥﴾

    wa-la-qad nādānā nūḥun fa-la-niʿma l-muǧībūna

    Certainly Noah called out to Us, and how well did We respond!

76. 37:76

    وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ﴿٧٦﴾

    wa-naǧǧaynāhu wa-ˈahlahū mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīmi

    We delivered him and his family from their great distress,

77. 37:77

    وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ﴿٧٧﴾

    wa-ǧaʿalnā ḏurriyyatahū humu l-bāqīna

    and made his descendants the survivors,

78. 37:78

    وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ﴿٧٨﴾

    wa-taraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ˈāḫirīna

    and left for him a good name among posterity:

79. 37:79

    سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ﴿٧٩﴾

    salāmun ʿalā nūḥin fī l-ʿālamīna

    ‘Peace to Noah, throughout the nations!’

80. 37:80

    إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿٨٠﴾

    ˈinnā ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-muḥsinīna

    Thus do We reward the virtuous.

81. 37:81

    إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿٨١﴾

    ˈinnahū min ʿibādinā l-muˈminīna

    He is indeed one of Our faithful servants.

82. 37:82

    ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ﴿٨٢﴾

    ṯumma ˈaġraqnā l-ˈāḫarīna

    Then We drowned the rest.

83. 37:83

    وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ﴿٨٣﴾

    wa-ˈinna min šīʿatihī la-ˈibrāhīma

    Indeed Abraham was among his followers,

84. 37:84

    إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ﴿٨٤﴾

    ˈiḏ ǧāˈa rabbahū bi-qalbin salīmin

    when he came to his Lord with a sound heart [untainted by sin].

85. 37:85

    إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ﴿٨٥﴾

    ˈiḏ qāla li-ˈabīhi wa-qawmihī māḏā taʿbudūna

    When he said to his father and his people, ‘What is it that you are worshiping?

86. 37:86

    أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ﴿٨٦﴾

    ˈa-ˈifkan ˈālihatan dūna llāhi turīdūna

    Is it a lie, gods other than Allah, that you desire?

87. 37:87

    فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ﴿٨٧﴾

    fa-mā ẓannukum bi-rabbi l-ʿālamīna

    Then what is your idea about the Lord of all the worlds?’

88. 37:88

    فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ﴿٨٨﴾

    fa-naẓara naẓratan fī n-nuǧūmi

    Then he made an observation of the stars

89. 37:89

    فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ﴿٨٩﴾

    fa-qāla ˈinnī saqīmun

    and said, ‘Indeed I am sick!’

90. 37:90

    فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ﴿٩٠﴾

    fa-tawallaw ʿanhu mudbirīna

    So they went away leaving him behind.

91. 37:91

    فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴿٩١﴾

    fa-rāġa ˈilā ˈālihatihim fa-qāla ˈa-lā taˈkulūna

    Then he stole away to their gods and said, ‘Will you not eat?

92. 37:92

    مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ﴿٩٢﴾

    mā lakum lā tanṭiqūna

    Why do you not speak?’

93. 37:93

    فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ﴿٩٣﴾

    fa-rāġa ʿalayhim ḍarban bi-l-yamīni

    Then he attacked them, striking forcefully.

94. 37:94

    فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ﴿٩٤﴾

    fa-ˈaqbalū ˈilayhi yaziffūna

    They came running towards him.

95. 37:95

    قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ﴿٩٥﴾

    qāla ˈa-taʿbudūna mā tanḥitūna

    He said, ‘Do you worship what you have yourselves carved,

96. 37:96

    وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ﴿٩٦﴾

    wa-llāhu ḫalaqakum wa-mā taʿmalūna

    when Allah has created you and whatever you make?’

97. 37:97

    قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿٩٧﴾

    qālū bnū lahū bunyānan fa-ˈalqūhu fī l-ǧaḥīmi

    They said, ‘Build a structure for him and cast him into a huge fire.’

98. 37:98

    فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ﴿٩٨﴾

    fa-ˈarādū bihī kaydan fa-ǧaʿalnāhumu l-ˈasfalīna

    So they sought to outwit him, but We made them the lowermost.

99. 37:99

    وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ﴿٩٩﴾

    wa-qāla ˈinnī ḏāhibun ˈilā rabbī sa-yahdīni

    He said, ‘Indeed I am going toward my Lord, who will guide me.’

100. 37:100

     رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ﴿١٠٠﴾

     rabbi hab lī mina ṣ-ṣāliḥīna

     ‘My Lord! Give me [an heir], one of the righteous.’

101. 37:101

     فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ﴿١٠١﴾

     fa-baššarnāhu bi-ġulāmin ḥalīmin

     So We gave him the good news of a forbearing son.

102. 37:102

     فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ﴿١٠٢﴾

     fa-lammā balaġa maʿahu s-saʿya qāla yā-bunayya ˈinnī ˈarā fī l-manāmi ˈannī ˈaḏbaḥuka fa-nẓur māḏā tarā qāla yā-ˈabati fʿal mā tuˈmaru sa-taǧidunī ˈin šāˈa llāhu mina ṣ-ṣābirīna

     When he was old enough to assist in his endeavour, he said, ‘My son! I see in dreams that I am sacrificing you. See what you think.’ He said, ‘Father! Do whatever you have been commanded. If Allah wishes, you will find me to be patient.’

103. 37:103

     فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ﴿١٠٣﴾

     fa-lammā ˈaslamā wa-tallahū li-l-ǧabīni

     So when they had both surrendered [to Allah’s will], and he had laid him down on his forehead,

104. 37:104

     وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ﴿١٠٤﴾

     wa-nādaynāhu ˈan yā-ˈibrāhīmu

     We called out to him, ‘O Abraham!

105. 37:105

     قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿١٠٥﴾

     qad ṣaddaqta r-ruˈyā ˈinnā ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-muḥsinīna

     You have indeed fulfilled your vision! Thus indeed do We reward the virtuous!

106. 37:106

     إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ﴿١٠٦﴾

     ˈinna hāḏā la-huwa l-balāˈu l-mubīnu

     This was indeed a manifest test.’

107. 37:107

     وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ﴿١٠٧﴾

     wa-fadaynāhu bi-ḏibḥin ʿaẓīmin

     Then We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,

108. 37:108

     وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ﴿١٠٨﴾

     wa-taraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ˈāḫirīna

     and left for him a good name in posterity:

109. 37:109

     سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ﴿١٠٩﴾

     salāmun ʿalā ˈibrāhīma

     ‘Peace be to Abraham!’

110. 37:110

     كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿١١٠﴾

     ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-muḥsinīna

     Thus do We reward the virtuous.

111. 37:111

     إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿١١١﴾

     ˈinnahū min ʿibādinā l-muˈminīna

     He is indeed one of Our faithful servants.

112. 37:112

     وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ﴿١١٢﴾

     wa-baššarnāhu bi-ˈisḥāqa nabiyyan mina ṣ-ṣāliḥīna

     And We gave him the good news of [the birth of] Isaac, a prophet, one of the righteous.

113. 37:113

     وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ﴿١١٣﴾

     wa-bāraknā ʿalayhi wa-ʿalā ˈisḥāqa wa-min ḏurriyyatihimā muḥsinun wa-ẓālimun li-nafsihī mubīnun

     And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants [some] are virtuous, and [some] who manifestly wrong themselves.

114. 37:114

     وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ﴿١١٤﴾

     wa-la-qad manannā ʿalā mūsā wa-hārūna

     Certainly We favoured Moses and Aaron,

115. 37:115

     وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ﴿١١٥﴾

     wa-naǧǧaynāhumā wa-qawmahumā mina l-karbi l-ʿaẓīmi

     and delivered them and their people from their great distress,

116. 37:116

     وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ﴿١١٦﴾

     wa-naṣarnāhum fa-kānū humu l-ġālibīna

     and We helped them so that they became the victors.

117. 37:117

     وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ﴿١١٧﴾

     wa-ˈātaynāhumā l-kitāba l-mustabīna

     We gave them the illuminating scripture

118. 37:118

     وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ﴿١١٨﴾

     wa-hadaynāhumā ṣ-ṣirāṭa l-mustaqīma

     and guided them to the straight path,

119. 37:119

     وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ﴿١١٩﴾

     wa-taraknā ʿalayhimā fī l-ˈāḫirīna

     and left for them a good name in posterity.

120. 37:120

     سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ﴿١٢٠﴾

     salāmun ʿalā mūsā wa-hārūna

     ‘Peace be to Moses and Aaron!’

121. 37:121

     إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿١٢١﴾

     ˈinnā ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-muḥsinīna

     Thus indeed do We reward the virtuous.

122. 37:122

     إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿١٢٢﴾

     ˈinnahumā min ʿibādinā l-muˈminīna

     They are indeed among Our faithful servants.

123. 37:123

     وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿١٢٣﴾

     wa-ˈinna ˈilyāsa la-mina l-mursalīna

     Indeed Ilyas was one of the apostles.

124. 37:124

     إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ﴿١٢٤﴾

     ˈiḏ qāla li-qawmihī ˈa-lā tattaqūna

     When he said to his people, ‘Will you not be Godwary?

125. 37:125

     أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ﴿١٢٥﴾

     ˈa-tadʿūna baʿlan wa-taḏarūna ˈaḥsana l-ḫāliqīna

     Do you invoke Baal and abandon the best of creators,

126. 37:126

     ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿١٢٦﴾

     allāha rabbakum wa-rabba ˈābāˈikumu l-ˈawwalīna

     Allah, your Lord and Lord of your forefathers?,’

127. 37:127

     فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ﴿١٢٧﴾

     fa-kaḏḏabūhu fa-ˈinnahum la-muḥḍarūna

     they impugned him. So they will indeed be mustered [in hell]

128. 37:128

     إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿١٢٨﴾

     ˈillā ʿibāda llāhi l-muḫlaṣīna

     —[all] except Allah’s exclusive servants.

129. 37:129

     وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ﴿١٢٩﴾

     wa-taraknā ʿalayhi fī l-ˈāḫirīna

     We left for him a good name in posterity.

130. 37:130

     سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ﴿١٣٠﴾

     salāmun ʿalā ˈil yāsīna

     ‘Peace be to Ilyas!’

131. 37:131

     إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿١٣١﴾

     ˈinnā ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-muḥsinīna

     Thus indeed do We reward the virtuous.

132. 37:132

     إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿١٣٢﴾

     ˈinnahū min ʿibādinā l-muˈminīna

     He is indeed one of Our faithful servants.

133. 37:133

     وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿١٣٣﴾

     wa-ˈinna lūṭan la-mina l-mursalīna

     Indeed Lot was one of the apostles.

134. 37:134

     إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ﴿١٣٤﴾

     ˈiḏ naǧǧaynāhu wa-ˈahlahū ˈaǧmaʿīna

     When We delivered him and all his family,

135. 37:135

     إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ﴿١٣٥﴾

     ˈillā ʿaǧūzan fī l-ġābirīna

     excepting an old woman among those who remained behind,

136. 37:136

     ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ﴿١٣٦﴾

     ṯumma dammarnā l-ˈāḫarīna

     We destroyed the rest.

137. 37:137

     وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ﴿١٣٧﴾

     wa-ˈinnakum la-tamurrūna ʿalayhim muṣbiḥīna

     Indeed you pass by them at dawn

138. 37:138

     وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ﴿١٣٨﴾

     wa-bi-l-layli ˈa-fa-lā taʿqilūna

     and at night. Do you not exercise your reason?

139. 37:139

     وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿١٣٩﴾

     wa-ˈinna yūnusa la-mina l-mursalīna

     Indeed Jonah was one of the apostles.

140. 37:140

     إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ﴿١٤٠﴾

     ˈiḏ ˈabaqa ˈilā l-fulki l-mašḥūni

     When he absconded toward the laden ship,

141. 37:141

     فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ﴿١٤١﴾

     fa-sāhama fa-kāna mina l-mudḥaḍīna

     he drew lots with them and was the one to be condemned [as one to be thrown overboard].

142. 37:142

     فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ﴿١٤٢﴾

     fa-ltaqamahu l-ḥūtu wa-huwa mulīmun

     Then the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy.

143. 37:143

     فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ﴿١٤٣﴾

     fa-law-lā ˈannahū kāna mina l-musabbiḥīna

     Had he not been one of those who celebrate Allah’s glory,

144. 37:144

     لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ﴿١٤٤﴾

     la-labiṯa fī baṭnihī ˈilā yawmi yubʿaṯūna

     he would have surely remained in its belly till the day they will be resurrected.

145. 37:145

     فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ﴿١٤٥﴾

     fa-nabaḏnāhu bi-l-ʿarāˈi wa-huwa saqīmun

     Then We cast him on a bare shore, and he was sick.

146. 37:146

     وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ﴿١٤٦﴾

     wa-ˈanbatnā ʿalayhi šaǧaratan min yaqṭīnin

     So We made a gourd plant grow above him.

147. 37:147

     وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ﴿١٤٧﴾

     wa-ˈarsalnāhu ˈilā miˈati ˈalfin ˈaw yazīdūna

     We sent him to a [community of] hundred thousand or more,

148. 37:148

     فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ﴿١٤٨﴾

     fa-ˈāmanū fa-mattaʿnāhum ˈilā ḥīnin

     and they believed [in him]. So We provided for them for a while.

149. 37:149

     فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ﴿١٤٩﴾

     fa-staftihim ˈa-li-rabbika l-banātu wa-lahumu l-banūna

     Ask them, are daughters to be for your Lord while sons are to be for them?

150. 37:150

     أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ﴿١٥٠﴾

     ˈam ḫalaqnā l-malāˈikata ˈināṯan wa-hum šāhidūna

     Did We create the angels females while they were present?

151. 37:151

     أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ﴿١٥١﴾

     ˈa-lā ˈinnahum min ˈifkihim la-yaqūlūna

     Be aware that it is out of their mendacity that they say,

152. 37:152

     وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ﴿١٥٢﴾

     walada llāhu wa-ˈinnahum la-kāḏibūna

     ‘Allah has begotten [offsprings],’ and they indeed speak a falsehood.

153. 37:153

     أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ﴿١٥٣﴾

     ˈa-ṣṭafā l-banāti ʿalā l-banīna

     Has He preferred daughters to sons?

154. 37:154

     مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ﴿١٥٤﴾

     mā lakum kayfa taḥkumūna

     What is the matter with you? How do you judge?

155. 37:155

     أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ﴿١٥٥﴾

     ˈa-fa-lā taḏakkarūna

     Will you not then take admonition?

156. 37:156

     أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ﴿١٥٦﴾

     ˈam lakum sulṭānun mubīnun

     Do you have a manifest authority?

157. 37:157

     فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ﴿١٥٧﴾

     fa-ˈtū bi-kitābikum ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna

     Then produce your scripture, should you be truthful.

158. 37:158

     وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ﴿١٥٨﴾

     wa-ǧaʿalū baynahū wa-bayna l-ǧinnati nasaban wa-la-qad ʿalimati l-ǧinnatu ˈinnahum la-muḥḍarūna

     And they have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn, while the jinn certainly know that they will be presented [before Him].

159. 37:159

     سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ﴿١٥٩﴾

     subḥāna llāhi ʿammā yaṣifūna

     Clear is Allah of whatever they allege [about Him]

160. 37:160

     إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿١٦٠﴾

     ˈillā ʿibāda llāhi l-muḫlaṣīna

     —[all] except Allah’s exclusive servants.

161. 37:161

     فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ﴿١٦١﴾

     fa-ˈinnakum wa-mā taʿbudūna

     Indeed you and what you worship

162. 37:162

     مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـٰتِنِينَ﴿١٦٢﴾

     mā ˈantum ʿalayhi bi-fātinīna

     cannot mislead [anyone] about Him,

163. 37:163

     إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ﴿١٦٣﴾

     ˈillā man huwa ṣāli l-ǧaḥīmi

     except someone who is bound for hell.

164. 37:164

     وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ﴿١٦٤﴾

     wa-mā minnā ˈillā lahū maqāmun maʿlūmun

     ‘There is none among us but has a known place.

165. 37:165

     وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ﴿١٦٥﴾

     wa-ˈinnā la-naḥnu ṣ-ṣāffūna

     It is we who are the ranged ones.

166. 37:166

     وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ﴿١٦٦﴾

     wa-ˈinnā la-naḥnu l-musabbiḥūna

     It is we who celebrate Allah’s glory.’

167. 37:167

     وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ﴿١٦٧﴾

     wa-ˈin kānū la-yaqūlūna

     They indeed, used to say,

168. 37:168

     لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿١٦٨﴾

     law ˈanna ʿindanā ḏikran mina l-ˈawwalīna

     ‘Had we possessed a Reminder from our predecessors,

169. 37:169

     لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿١٦٩﴾

     la-kunnā ʿibāda llāhi l-muḫlaṣīna

     we would have surely been Allah’s exclusive servants.’

170. 37:170

     فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ﴿١٧٠﴾

     fa-kafarū bihī fa-sawfa yaʿlamūna

     But they disbelieved it [when it came to them]. Soon they will know!

171. 37:171

     وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿١٧١﴾

     wa-la-qad sabaqat kalimatunā li-ʿibādinā l-mursalīna

     Certainly Our decree has gone beforehand in favour of Our servants, the apostles,

172. 37:172

     إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ﴿١٧٢﴾

     ˈinnahum la-humu l-manṣūrūna

     that they will indeed receive [Allah’s] help,

173. 37:173

     وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ﴿١٧٣﴾

     wa-ˈinna ǧundanā la-humu l-ġālibūna

     and indeed Our hosts will be the victors.

174. 37:174

     فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ﴿١٧٤﴾

     fa-tawalla ʿanhum ḥattā ḥīnin

     So leave them alone for a while,

175. 37:175

     وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ﴿١٧٥﴾

     wa-ˈabṣirhum fa-sawfa yubṣirūna

     and watch them; soon they will see [the truth of the matter]!

176. 37:176

     أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ﴿١٧٦﴾

     ˈa-fa-bi-ʿaḏābinā yastaʿǧilūna

     Do they seek to hasten Our punishment?

177. 37:177

     فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ﴿١٧٧﴾

     fa-ˈiḏā nazala bi-sāḥatihim fa-sāˈa ṣabāḥu l-munḏarīna

     But when it descends in their courtyard it will be a dismal dawn for those who had been warned.

178. 37:178

     وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ﴿١٧٨﴾

     wa-tawalla ʿanhum ḥattā ḥīnin

     So leave them alone for a while,

179. 37:179

     وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ﴿١٧٩﴾

     wa-ˈabṣir fa-sawfa yubṣirūna

     and watch; soon they will see!

180. 37:180

     سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ﴿١٨٠﴾

     subḥāna rabbika rabbi l-ʿizzati ʿammā yaṣifūna

     Clear is your Lord, the Lord of Might, of whatever they allege [concerning Him].

181. 37:181

     وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿١٨١﴾

     wa-salāmun ʿalā l-mursalīna

     Peace be to the apostles!

182. 37:182

     وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ﴿١٨٢﴾

     wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāhi rabbi l-ʿālamīna

     All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds.
