Surah 5
سُورَةُ المَائـِدَةِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَوْفُوا۟ بِٱلْعُقُودِ ۚ أُحِلَّتْ لَكُم بَهِيمَةُ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ إِلَّا مَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ غَيْرَ مُحِلِّى ٱلصَّيْدِ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ مَا يُرِيدُ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ˈawfū bi-l-ʿuqūdi ˈuḥillat lakum bahīmatu l-ˈanʿāmi ˈillā mā yutlā ʿalaykum ġayra muḥillī ṣ-ṣaydi wa-ˈantum ḥurumun ˈinna llāha yaḥkumu mā yurīdu
O you who have faith! Keep your agreements. You are permitted animals of grazing livestock, except what is [now] announced to you, disallowing game while you are in pilgrim sanctity. Indeed Allah decrees whatever He desires.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُحِلُّوا۟ شَعَـٰٓئِرَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا ٱلشَّهْرَ ٱلْحَرَامَ وَلَا ٱلْهَدْىَ وَلَا ٱلْقَلَـٰٓئِدَ وَلَآ ءَآمِّينَ ٱلْبَيْتَ ٱلْحَرَامَ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَرِضْوَٰنًا ۚ وَإِذَا حَلَلْتُمْ فَٱصْطَادُوا۟ ۚ وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَـَٔانُ قَوْمٍ أَن صَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ أَن تَعْتَدُوا۟ ۘ وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā tuḥillū šaʿāˈira llāhi wa-lā š-šahra l-ḥarāma wa-lā l-hadya wa-lā l-qalāˈida wa-lā ˈāmmīna l-bayta l-ḥarāma yabtaġūna faḍlan min rabbihim wa-riḍwānan wa-ˈiḏā ḥalaltum fa-ṣṭādū wa-lā yaǧrimannakum šanaˈānu qawmin ˈan ṣaddūkum ʿani l-masǧidi l-ḥarāmi ˈan taʿtadū wa-taʿāwanū ʿalā l-birri wa-t-taqwā wa-lā taʿāwanū ʿalā l-ˈiṯmi wa-l-ʿudwāni wa-ttaqū llāha ˈinna llāha šadīdu l-ʿiqābi
O you who have faith! Do not violate Allah’s sacraments, neither the sacred month, nor the offering, nor the necklaces, nor those bound for the Sacred House, who seek their Lord’s grace and [His] pleasure. But when you emerge from pilgrim sanctity, you may hunt for game. Ill feeling for a people should not lead you, because they barred you from [access to] the Sacred Mosque, to transgress. Cooperate in piety and Godwariness, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression, and be wary of Allah. Indeed Allah is severe in retribution.
حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَيْتَةُ وَٱلدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ ٱلْخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ وَٱلْمُنْخَنِقَةُ وَٱلْمَوْقُوذَةُ وَٱلْمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ وَمَآ أَكَلَ ٱلسَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيْتُمْ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى ٱلنُّصُبِ وَأَن تَسْتَقْسِمُوا۟ بِٱلْأَزْلَـٰمِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ فِسْقٌ ۗ ٱلْيَوْمَ يَئِسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن دِينِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَٱخْشَوْنِ ۚ ٱلْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِى وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمَ دِينًا ۚ فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ فِى مَخْمَصَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّإِثْمٍ ۙ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
ḥurrimat ʿalaykumu l-maytatu wa-d-damu wa-laḥmu l-ḫinzīri wa-mā ˈuhilla li-ġayri llāhi bihī wa-l-munḫaniqatu wa-l-mawqūḏatu wa-l-mutaraddiyatu wa-n-naṭīḥatu wa-mā ˈakala s-sabuʿu ˈillā mā ḏakkaytum wa-mā ḏubiḥa ʿalā n-nuṣubi wa-ˈan tastaqsimū bi-l-ˈazlāmi ḏālikum fisqun-i l-yawma yaˈisa llaḏīna kafarū min dīnikum fa-lā taḫšawhum wa-ḫšawni l-yawma ˈakmaltu lakum dīnakum wa-ˈatmamtu ʿalaykum niʿmatī wa-raḍītu lakumu l-ˈislāma dīnan fa-mani ḍṭurra fī maḫmaṣatin ġayra mutaǧānifin li-ˈiṯmin fa-ˈinna llāha ġafūrun raḥīmun
You are prohibited carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and what has been offered to other than Allah, and the animal strangled or beaten to death, and that which dies by falling or is gored to death, and that which is mangled by a beast of prey—barring that which you may purify —and what is sacrificed on stone altars [to idols], and that you should divide by raffling with arrows. All that is transgression. Today the faithless have despaired of your religion. So do not fear them, but fear Me. Today I have perfected your religion for you, and I have completed My blessing upon you, and I have approved Islam as your religion. But should anyone be compelled by hunger, without inclining to sin, then Allah is indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful.
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ مَاذَآ أُحِلَّ لَهُمْ ۖ قُلْ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتُ ۙ وَمَا عَلَّمْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِينَ تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّآ أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ
yasˈalūnaka māḏā ˈuḥilla lahum qul ˈuḥilla lakumu ṭ-ṭayyibātu wa-mā ʿallamtum mina l-ǧawāriḥi mukallibīna tuʿallimūnahunna mimmā ʿallamakumu llāhu fa-kulū mimmā ˈamsakna ʿalaykum wa-ḏkurū sma llāhi ʿalayhi wa-ttaqū llāha ˈinna llāha sarīʿu l-ḥisābi
They ask you as to what is lawful to them. Say, ‘All the good things are lawful to you.’ As for what you have taught hunting dogs [to catch], teaching them out of what Allah has taught you, eat of what they catch for you and mention Allah’s Name over it, and be wary of Allah. Indeed Allah is swift at reckoning.
ٱلْيَوْمَ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتُ ۖ وَطَعَامُ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ حِلٌّ لَّكُمْ وَطَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَّهُمْ ۖ وَٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ وَٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ إِذَآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ مُحْصِنِينَ غَيْرَ مُسَـٰفِحِينَ وَلَا مُتَّخِذِىٓ أَخْدَانٍ ۗ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهُۥ وَهُوَ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ
al-yawma ˈuḥilla lakumu ṭ-ṭayyibātu wa-ṭaʿāmu llaḏīna ˈūtū l-kitāba ḥillun lakum wa-ṭaʿāmukum ḥillun lahum wa-l-muḥṣanātu mina l-muˈmināti wa-l-muḥṣanātu mina llaḏīna ˈūtū l-kitāba min qablikum ˈiḏā ˈātaytumūhunna ˈuǧūrahunna muḥṣinīna ġayra musāfiḥīna wa-lā muttaḫiḏī ˈaḫdānin wa-man yakfur bi-l-ˈīmāni fa-qad ḥabiṭa ʿamaluhū wa-huwa fī l-ˈāḫirati mina l-ḫāsirīna
Today all the good things have been made lawful to you—the food of those who were given the Book is lawful to you, and your food is lawful to them—and the chaste ones from among faithful women, and chaste women of those who were given the Book before you, when you have given them their dowries, in wedlock, not in license, nor taking paramours. Should anyone renounce his faith, his work shall fail and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَٱغْسِلُوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْمَرَافِقِ وَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِرُءُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْكَعْبَيْنِ ۚ وَإِن كُنتُمْ جُنُبًا فَٱطَّهَّرُوا۟ ۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَآءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلْغَآئِطِ أَوْ لَـٰمَسْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا۟ مَآءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُم مِّنْهُ ۚ مَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَـٰكِن يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ˈiḏā qumtum ˈilā ṣ-ṣalāti fa-ġsilū wuǧūhakum wa-ˈaydiyakum ˈilā l-marāfiqi wa-msaḥū bi-ruˈūsikum wa-ˈarǧulakum ˈilā l-kaʿbayni wa-ˈin kuntum ǧunuban fa-ṭṭahharū wa-ˈin kuntum marḍā ˈaw ʿalā safarin ˈaw ǧāˈa ˈaḥadun minkum mina l-ġāˈiṭi ˈaw lāmastumu n-nisāˈa fa-lam taǧidū māˈan fa-tayammamū ṣaʿīdan ṭayyiban fa-msaḥū bi-wuǧūhikum wa-ˈaydīkum minhu mā yurīdu llāhu li-yaǧʿala ʿalaykum min ḥaraǧin wa-lākin yurīdu li-yuṭahhirakum wa-li-yutimma niʿmatahū ʿalaykum laʿallakum taškurūna
O you who have faith! When you stand up for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe a part of your heads and your feet, up to the ankles. If you are junub, purify yourselves. But if you are sick, or on a journey, or any of you has come from the toilet, or you have touched women, and you cannot find water, then make tayammum with clean ground and wipe a part of your faces and your hands with it. Allah does not desire to put you to hardship, but He desires to purify you, and to complete His blessing upon you so that you may give thanks.
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمِيثَـٰقَهُ ٱلَّذِى وَاثَقَكُم بِهِۦٓ إِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
wa-ḏkurū niʿmata llāhi ʿalaykum wa-mīṯāqahu llaḏī wāṯaqakum bihī ˈiḏ qultum samiʿnā wa-ˈaṭaʿnā wa-ttaqū llāha ˈinna llāha ʿalīmun bi-ḏāti ṣ-ṣudūri
Remember Allah’s blessing upon you and His covenant with which He has bound you when you said, ‘We hear and obey.’ And be wary of Allah. Indeed Allah knows best what is in the breasts.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوا۟ قَوَّٰمِينَ لِلَّهِ شُهَدَآءَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۖ وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَـَٔانُ قَوْمٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا۟ ۚ ٱعْدِلُوا۟ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū kūnū qawwāmīna li-llāhi šuhadāˈa bi-l-qisṭi wa-lā yaǧrimannakum šanaˈānu qawmin ʿalā ˈallā taʿdilū ʿdilū huwa ˈaqrabu li-t-taqwā wa-ttaqū llāha ˈinna llāha ḫabīrun bi-mā taʿmalūna
O you who have faith! Be maintainers, as witnesses for the sake of Allah, of justice, and ill feeling for a people should never lead you to be unfair. Be fair; that is nearer to Godwariness, and be wary of Allah. Allah is indeed well aware of what you do.
وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ ۙ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
waʿada llāhu llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti lahum maġfiratun wa-ˈaǧrun ʿaẓīmun
Allah has promised those who have faith and do righteous deeds forgiveness and a great reward.
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
wa-llaḏīna kafarū wa-kaḏḏabū bi-ˈāyātinā ˈulāˈika ˈaṣḥābu l-ǧaḥīmi
As for those who are faithless and deny Our signs, they shall be the inmates of hell.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ هَمَّ قَوْمٌ أَن يَبْسُطُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَكَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنكُمْ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ḏkurū niʿmata llāhi ʿalaykum ˈiḏ hamma qawmun ˈan yabsuṭū ˈilaykum ˈaydiyahum fa-kaffa ˈaydiyahum ʿankum wa-ttaqū llāha wa-ʿalā llāhi fa-l-yatawakkali l-muˈminūna
O you who have faith! Remember Allah’s blessing upon you when a people set out to extend their hands against you, but He withheld their hands from you, and be wary of Allah, and in Allah let all the faithful put their trust.
وَلَقَدْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَـٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَبَعَثْنَا مِنْهُمُ ٱثْنَىْ عَشَرَ نَقِيبًا ۖ وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ إِنِّى مَعَكُمْ ۖ لَئِنْ أَقَمْتُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَيْتُمُ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَءَامَنتُم بِرُسُلِى وَعَزَّرْتُمُوهُمْ وَأَقْرَضْتُمُ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا لَّأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنكُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّكُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ فَمَن كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ مِنكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَآءَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ
wa-la-qad ˈaḫaḏa llāhu mīṯāqa banī ˈisrāˈīla wa-baʿaṯnā minhumu ṯnay ʿašara naqīban wa-qāla llāhu ˈinnī maʿakum la-ˈin ˈaqamtumu ṣ-ṣalāta wa-ˈātaytumu z-zakāta wa-ˈāmantum bi-rusulī wa-ʿazzartumūhum wa-ˈaqraḍtumu llāha qarḍan ḥasanan la-ˈukaffiranna ʿankum sayyiˈātikum wa-la-ˈudḫilannakum ǧannātin taǧrī min taḥtihā l-ˈanhāru fa-man kafara baʿda ḏālika minkum fa-qad ḍalla sawāˈa s-sabīli
Certainly Allah took a pledge from the Children of Israel, and We raised among them twelve chiefs. And Allah said, ‘I am with you! Surely, if you maintain the prayer and give the zakat and have faith in My apostles and support them and lend Allah a good loan, I will surely absolve you of your misdeeds, and I will surely admit you into gardens with streams running in them. But whoever of you disbelieves after that has certainly strayed from the right way.’
فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّيثَـٰقَهُمْ لَعَنَّـٰهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَا قُلُوبَهُمْ قَـٰسِيَةً ۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ ۙ وَنَسُوا۟ حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۚ وَلَا تَزَالُ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَىٰ خَآئِنَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّنْهُمْ ۖ فَٱعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَٱصْفَحْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
fa-bi-mā naqḍihim mīṯāqahum laʿannāhum wa-ǧaʿalnā qulūbahum qāsiyatan yuḥarrifūna l-kalima ʿan mawāḍiʿihī wa-nasū ḥaẓẓan mimmā ḏukkirū bihī wa-lā tazālu taṭṭaliʿu ʿalā ḫāˈinatin minhum ˈillā qalīlan minhum fa-ʿfu ʿanhum wa-ṣfaḥ ˈinna llāha yuḥibbu l-muḥsinīna
Then, because of their breaking their covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard: they pervert words from their meanings, and have forgotten a part of what they were reminded. You will not cease to learn of some of their treachery, excepting a few of them. Yet excuse them and forbear. Indeed Allah loves the virtuous.
وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا نَصَـٰرَىٰٓ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَـٰقَهُمْ فَنَسُوا۟ حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَأَغْرَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ ٱلْعَدَاوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ وَسَوْفَ يُنَبِّئُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُونَ
wa-mina llaḏīna qālū ˈinnā naṣārā ˈaḫaḏnā mīṯāqahum fa-nasū ḥaẓẓan mimmā ḏukkirū bihī fa-ˈaġraynā baynahumu l-ʿadāwata wa-l-baġḍāˈa ˈilā yawmi l-qiyāmati wa-sawfa yunabbiˈuhumu llāhu bi-mā kānū yaṣnaʿūna
Also from those who say, ‘We are Christians,’ We took their pledge; but they forgot a part of what they were reminded. So We stirred up enmity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection, and soon Allah will inform them concerning what they had been doing.
يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا كُنتُمْ تُخْفُونَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَن كَثِيرٍ ۚ قَدْ جَآءَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ نُورٌ وَكِتَـٰبٌ مُّبِينٌ
yā-ˈahla l-kitābi qad ǧāˈakum rasūlunā yubayyinu lakum kaṯīran mimmā kuntum tuḫfūna mina l-kitābi wa-yaʿfū ʿan kaṯīrin qad ǧāˈakum mina llāhi nūrun wa-kitābun mubīnun
O People of the Book! Certainly Our Apostle has come to you, clarifying for you much of what you used to hide of the Book, and excusing many [an offense of yours]. Certainly, there has come to you a light from Allah, and a manifest Book.
يَهْدِى بِهِ ٱللَّهُ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ سُبُلَ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ وَيُخْرِجُهُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
yahdī bihi llāhu mani ttabaʿa riḍwānahū subula s-salāmi wa-yuḫriǧuhum mina ẓ-ẓulumāti ˈilā n-nūri bi-ˈiḏnihī wa-yahdīhim ˈilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin
With it Allah guides those who follow [the course of] His pleasure to the ways of peace, and brings them out from darkness into light by His will, and guides them to a straight path.
لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۚ قُلْ فَمَن يَمْلِكُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُهْلِكَ ٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ۗ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
la-qad kafara llaḏīna qālū ˈinna llāha huwa l-masīḥu bnu maryama qul fa-man yamliku mina llāhi šayˈan ˈin ˈarāda ˈan yuhlika l-masīḥa bna maryama wa-ˈummahū wa-man fī l-ˈarḍi ǧamīʿan wa-li-llāhi mulku s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-mā baynahumā yaḫluqu mā yašāˈu wa-llāhu ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
They are certainly faithless who say, ‘Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary.’ Say, ‘Who can avail anything against Allah should He wish to destroy the Messiah, son of Mary, and his mother, and everyone upon the earth?’ To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them. He creates whatever He wishes, and Allah has power over all things.
وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ نَحْنُ أَبْنَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّـٰٓؤُهُۥ ۚ قُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُم بِذُنُوبِكُم ۖ بَلْ أَنتُم بَشَرٌ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ۚ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
wa-qālati l-yahūdu wa-n-naṣārā naḥnu ˈabnāˈu llāhi wa-ˈaḥibbāˈuhū qul fa-li-ma yuʿaḏḏibukum bi-ḏunūbikum bal ˈantum bašarun mimman ḫalaqa yaġfiru li-man yašāˈu wa-yuʿaḏḏibu man yašāˈu wa-li-llāhi mulku s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-mā baynahumā wa-ˈilayhi l-maṣīru
The Jews and the Christians say, ‘We are Allah’s children and His beloved ones.’ Say, ‘Then why does He punish you for your sins?’ No, you are humans from among His creatures. He forgives whomever He wishes, and punishes whomever He wishes, and to Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them, and toward Him is the return.
يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ عَلَىٰ فَتْرَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ أَن تَقُولُوا۟ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنۢ بَشِيرٍ وَلَا نَذِيرٍ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بَشِيرٌ وَنَذِيرٌ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
yā-ˈahla l-kitābi qad ǧāˈakum rasūlunā yubayyinu lakum ʿalā fatratin mina r-rusuli ˈan taqūlū mā ǧāˈanā min bašīrin wa-lā naḏīrin fa-qad ǧāˈakum bašīrun wa-naḏīrun wa-llāhu ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
O People of the Book! Certainly Our Apostle has come to you, clarifying [the Divine teachings] for you after a gap in [the appearance of] the apostles, lest you should say, ‘There did not come to us any bearer of good news nor any warner.’ Certainly, there has come to you a bearer of good news and a warner. And Allah has power over all things.
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَعَلَ فِيكُمْ أَنۢبِيَآءَ وَجَعَلَكُم مُّلُوكًا وَءَاتَىٰكُم مَّا لَمْ يُؤْتِ أَحَدًا مِّنَ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
wa-ˈiḏ qāla mūsā li-qawmihī yā-qawmi ḏkurū niʿmata llāhi ʿalaykum ˈiḏ ǧaʿala fīkum ˈanbiyāˈa wa-ǧaʿalakum mulūkan wa-ˈātākum mā lam yuˈti ˈaḥadan mina l-ʿālamīna
When Moses said to his people, ‘O my people, remember Allah’s blessing upon you when He appointed prophets among you, and made you kings, and gave you what none of the nations were given.
يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْضَ ٱلْمُقَدَّسَةَ ٱلَّتِى كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَـٰسِرِينَ
yā-qawmi dḫulū l-ˈarḍa l-muqaddasata llatī kataba llāhu lakum wa-lā tartaddū ʿalā ˈadbārikum fa-tanqalibū ḫāsirīna
O my people, enter the Holy Land which Allah has ordained for you, and do not turn your backs, or you will become losers.’
قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّ فِيهَا قَوْمًا جَبَّارِينَ وَإِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَا حَتَّىٰ يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَا فَإِن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّا دَٰخِلُونَ
qālū yā-mūsā ˈinna fīhā qawman ǧabbārīna wa-ˈinnā lan nadḫulahā ḥattā yaḫruǧū minhā fa-ˈin yaḫruǧū minhā fa-ˈinnā dāḫilūna
They said, ‘O Moses, there are a tyrannical people in it. We will not enter it until they leave it. But once they leave it, we will go in.’
قَالَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمَا ٱدْخُلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْبَابَ فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُمُوهُ فَإِنَّكُمْ غَـٰلِبُونَ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَتَوَكَّلُوٓا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
qāla raǧulāni mina llaḏīna yaḫāfūna ˈanʿama llāhu ʿalayhimā dḫulū ʿalayhimu l-bāba fa-ˈiḏā daḫaltumūhu fa-ˈinnakum ġālibūna wa-ʿalā llāhi fa-tawakkalū ˈin kuntum muˈminīna
Said two men from among those who were Godfearing and whom Allah had blessed: ‘Go at them by the gate! For once, you have entered it, you will be victors. Put your trust in Allah, should you be faithful.’
قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَآ أَبَدًا مَّا دَامُوا۟ فِيهَا ۖ فَٱذْهَبْ أَنتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَـٰتِلَآ إِنَّا هَـٰهُنَا قَـٰعِدُونَ
qālū yā-mūsā ˈinnā lan nadḫulahā ˈabadan mā dāmū fīhā fa-ḏhab ˈanta wa-rabbuka fa-qātilā ˈinnā hāhunā qāʿidūna
They said, ‘O Moses, we will never enter it so long as they remain in it. Go ahead, you and your Lord, and fight! We will be sitting right here.’
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ إِلَّا نَفْسِى وَأَخِى ۖ فَٱفْرُقْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
qāla rabbi ˈinnī lā ˈamliku ˈillā nafsī wa-ˈaḫī fa-fruq baynanā wa-bayna l-qawmi l-fāsiqīna
He said, ‘My Lord! I have no power over [anyone] except myself and my brother, so part us from the transgressing lot.’
قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ۛ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ۛ يَتِيهُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
qāla fa-ˈinnahā muḥarramatun ʿalayhim ˈarbaʿīna sanatan yatīhūna fī l-ˈarḍi fa-lā taˈsa ʿalā l-qawmi l-fāsiqīna
He said, ‘It shall be forbidden them for forty years: they shall wander about in the earth. So do not grieve for the transgressing lot.’
وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ٱبْنَىْ ءَادَمَ بِٱلْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
wa-tlu ʿalayhim nabaˈa bnay ˈādama bi-l-ḥaqqi ˈiḏ qarrabā qurbānan fa-tuqubbila min ˈaḥadihimā wa-lam yutaqabbal mina l-ˈāḫari qāla la-ˈaqtulannaka qāla ˈinnamā yataqabbalu llāhu mina l-muttaqīna
Relate to them truly the account of Adam’s two sons. When the two of them offered an offering, it was accepted from one of them and not accepted from the other. [One of them] said, ‘Surely I will kill you.’ [The other one] said, ‘Allah accepts only from the Godwary.
لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۠ بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
la-ˈin basaṭta ˈilayya yadaka li-taqtulanī mā ˈana bi-bāsiṭin yadiya ˈilayka li-ˈaqtulaka ˈinnī ˈaḫāfu llāha rabba l-ʿālamīna
Even if you extend your hand toward me to kill me, I will not extend my hand toward you to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
إِنِّىٓ أُرِيدُ أَن تَبُوٓأَ بِإِثْمِى وَإِثْمِكَ فَتَكُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
ˈinnī ˈurīdu ˈan tabūˈa bi-ˈiṯmī wa-ˈiṯmika fa-takūna min ˈaṣḥābi n-nāri wa-ḏālika ǧazāˈu ẓ-ẓālimīna
I desire that you earn [the burden of] my sin and your sin, to become one of the inmates of the Fire, and such is the requital of the wrongdoers.’
فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُۥ نَفْسُهُۥ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُۥ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ
fa-ṭawwaʿat lahū nafsuhū qatla ˈaḫīhi fa-qatalahū fa-ˈaṣbaḥa mina l-ḫāsirīna
So his soul prompted him to kill his brother, and he killed him, and thus became one of the losers.
فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُۥ كَيْفَ يُوَٰرِى سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْغُرَابِ فَأُوَٰرِىَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِى ۖ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّـٰدِمِينَ
fa-baʿaṯa llāhu ġurāban yabḥaṯu fī l-ˈarḍi li-yuriyahū kayfa yuwārī sawˈata ˈaḫīhi qāla yā-waylatā ˈa-ʿaǧaztu ˈan ˈakūna miṯla hāḏā l-ġurābi fa-ˈuwāriya sawˈata ˈaḫī fa-ˈaṣbaḥa mina n-nādimīna
Then Allah sent a crow, exploring in the ground, to show him how to bury the corpse of his brother. He said, ‘Woe to me! Am I unable to be [even] like this crow and bury my brother’s corpse?’ Thus he became regretful.
مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٰلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَنَّهُۥ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًۢا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَآ أَحْيَا ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ
min ˈaǧli ḏālika katabnā ʿalā banī ˈisrāˈīla ˈannahū man qatala nafsan bi-ġayri nafsin ˈaw fasādin fī l-ˈarḍi fa-ka-ˈannamā qatala n-nāsa ǧamīʿan wa-man ˈaḥyāhā fa-ka-ˈannamā ˈaḥyā n-nāsa ǧamīʿan wa-la-qad ǧāˈathum rusulunā bi-l-bayyināti ṯumma ˈinna kaṯīran minhum baʿda ḏālika fī l-ˈarḍi la-musrifūna
That is why We decreed for the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, without [its being guilty of] manslaughter or corruption on the earth, is as though he had killed all mankind, and whoever saves a life is as though he had saved all mankind. Our apostles certainly brought them manifest signs, yet even after that, many of them commit excesses on the earth.
إِنَّمَا جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَن يُقَتَّلُوٓا۟ أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوٓا۟ أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ أَوْ يُنفَوْا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْىٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
ˈinnamā ǧazāˈu llaḏīna yuḥāribūna llāha wa-rasūlahū wa-yasʿawna fī l-ˈarḍi fasādan ˈan yuqattalū ˈaw yuṣallabū ˈaw tuqaṭṭaʿa ˈaydīhim wa-ˈarǧuluhum min ḫilāfin ˈaw yunfaw mina l-ˈarḍi ḏālika lahum ḫizyun fī d-dunyā wa-lahum fī l-ˈāḫirati ʿaḏābun ʿaẓīmun
Indeed the requital of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle, and try to cause corruption on the earth, is that they shall be slain or crucified, or shall have their hands and feet cut off from opposite sides, or be banished from the land. That is a disgrace for them in this world, and in the Hereafter, there is a great punishment for them,
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَقْدِرُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
ˈillā llaḏīna tābū min qabli ˈan taqdirū ʿalayhim fa-ʿlamū ˈanna llāha ġafūrun raḥīmun
excepting those who repent before you capture them, and know that Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱبْتَغُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ وَجَـٰهِدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ttaqū llāha wa-btaġū ˈilayhi l-wasīlata wa-ǧāhidū fī sabīlihī laʿallakum tufliḥūna
O you who have faith! Be wary of Allah, and seek the means of recourse to Him, and wage jihad in His way, so that you may be felicitous.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّ لَهُم مَّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لِيَفْتَدُوا۟ بِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَا تُقُبِّلَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
ˈinna llaḏīna kafarū law ˈanna lahum mā fī l-ˈarḍi ǧamīʿan wa-miṯlahū maʿahū li-yaftadū bihī min ʿaḏābi yawmi l-qiyāmati mā tuqubbila minhum wa-lahum ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun
Indeed if the faithless possessed all that is on the earth, and as much of it besides, to redeem themselves with it from the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, it shall not be accepted from them, and there is a painful punishment for them.
يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَمَا هُم بِخَـٰرِجِينَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ
yurīdūna ˈan yaḫruǧū mina n-nāri wa-mā hum bi-ḫāriǧīna minhā wa-lahum ʿaḏābun muqīmun
They would long to leave the Fire, but they shall never leave it, and there is a lasting punishment for them.
وَٱلسَّارِقُ وَٱلسَّارِقَةُ فَٱقْطَعُوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمَا جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَسَبَا نَكَـٰلًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
wa-s-sāriqu wa-s-sāriqatu fa-qṭaʿū ˈaydiyahumā ǧazāˈan bi-mā kasabā nakālan mina llāhi wa-llāhu ʿazīzun ḥakīmun
As for the thief, man or woman, cut off their hands as a requital for what they have earned. [That is] an exemplary punishment from Allah, and Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.
فَمَن تَابَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ظُلْمِهِۦ وَأَصْلَحَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
fa-man tāba min baʿdi ẓulmihī wa-ˈaṣlaḥa fa-ˈinna llāha yatūbu ʿalayhi ˈinna llāha ġafūrun raḥīmun
But whoever repents after his wrongdoing, and reforms, then Allah shall accept his repentance. Indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
ˈa-lam taʿlam ˈanna llāha lahū mulku s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi yuʿaḏḏibu man yašāˈu wa-yaġfiru li-man yašāˈu wa-llāhu ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
Do you not know that to Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth? He punishes whomever He wishes, and forgives whomever He wishes, and Allah has power over all things.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ لَا يَحْزُنكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَلَمْ تُؤْمِن قُلُوبُهُمْ ۛ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ ۛ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِقَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ لَمْ يَأْتُوكَ ۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَوَاضِعِهِۦ ۖ يَقُولُونَ إِنْ أُوتِيتُمْ هَـٰذَا فَخُذُوهُ وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْتَوْهُ فَٱحْذَرُوا۟ ۚ وَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ فِتْنَتَهُۥ فَلَن تَمْلِكَ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُطَهِّرَ قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا خِزْىٌ ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
yā-ˈayyuhā r-rasūlu lā yaḥzunka llaḏīna yusāriʿūna fī l-kufri mina llaḏīna qālū ˈāmannā bi-ˈafwāhihim wa-lam tuˈmin qulūbuhum wa-mina llaḏīna hādū sammāʿūna li-l-kaḏibi sammāʿūna li-qawmin ˈāḫarīna lam yaˈtūka yuḥarrifūna l-kalima min baʿdi mawāḍiʿihī yaqūlūna ˈin ˈūtītum hāḏā fa-ḫuḏūhu wa-ˈin lam tuˈtawhu fa-ḥḏarū wa-man yuridi llāhu fitnatahū fa-lan tamlika lahū mina llāhi šayˈan ˈulāˈika llaḏīna lam yuridi llāhu ˈan yuṭahhira qulūbahum lahum fī d-dunyā ḫizyun wa-lahum fī l-ˈāḫirati ʿaḏābun ʿaẓīmun
O Apostle! Do not grieve for those who are active in [promoting] unfaith, such as those who say, ‘We believe’ with their mouths, but whose hearts have no faith, and the Jews who eavesdrop with the aim of [telling] lies [against you] and eavesdrop for other people who do not come to you. They pervert words from their meanings, [and] say, ‘If you are given this, take it, but if you are not given this, beware!’ Yet whomever Allah wishes to mislead, you cannot avail him anything against Allah. They are the ones whose hearts Allah did not desire to purify. For them is disgrace in this world, and there is a great punishment for them in the Hereafter.
سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ أَكَّـٰلُونَ لِلسُّحْتِ ۚ فَإِن جَآءُوكَ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُمْ أَوْ أَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ ۖ وَإِن تُعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ فَلَن يَضُرُّوكَ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَإِنْ حَكَمْتَ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ
sammāʿūna li-l-kaḏibi ˈakkālūna li-s-suḥti fa-ˈin ǧāˈūka fa-ḥkum baynahum ˈaw ˈaʿriḍ ʿanhum wa-ˈin tuʿriḍ ʿanhum fa-lan yaḍurrūka šayˈan wa-ˈin ḥakamta fa-ḥkum baynahum bi-l-qisṭi ˈinna llāha yuḥibbu l-muqsiṭīna
Eavesdroppers with the aim of [telling] lies, eaters of the unlawful—if they come to you, judge between them, or disregard them. If you disregard them, they will not harm you in any way. But if you judge, judge between them with justice. Indeed Allah loves the just.
وَكَيْفَ يُحَكِّمُونَكَ وَعِندَهُمُ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ فِيهَا حُكْمُ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wa-kayfa yuḥakkimūnaka wa-ʿindahumu t-tawrātu fīhā ḥukmu llāhi ṯumma yatawallawna min baʿdi ḏālika wa-mā ˈulāˈika bi-l-muˈminīna
And how should they make you a judge, while with them is the Torah, in which is Allah’s judgement? Yet in spite of that, they turn their backs [on Him] and they are not believers.
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ فِيهَا هُدًى وَنُورٌ ۚ يَحْكُمُ بِهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ بِمَا ٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟ مِن كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ شُهَدَآءَ ۚ فَلَا تَخْشَوُا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱخْشَوْنِ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِى ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
ˈinnā ˈanzalnā t-tawrāta fīhā hudan wa-nūrun yaḥkumu bihā n-nabiyyūna llaḏīna ˈaslamū li-llaḏīna hādū wa-r-rabbāniyyūna wa-l-ˈaḥbāru bi-mā stuḥfiẓū min kitābi llāhi wa-kānū ʿalayhi šuhadāˈa fa-lā taḫšawu n-nāsa wa-ḫšawni wa-lā taštarū bi-ˈāyātī ṯamanan qalīlan wa-man lam yaḥkum bi-mā ˈanzala llāhu fa-ˈulāˈika humu l-kāfirūna
We sent down the Torah containing guidance and light. The prophets, who had submitted, judged by it for the Jews, and so did the rabbis and the scribes, as they were charged to preserve the Book of Allah and were witnesses to it. So do not fear the people, but fear Me, and do not sell My signs for a paltry gain. Those who do not judge by what Allah has sent down—it is they who are the faithless.
وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَآ أَنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ بِٱلنَّفْسِ وَٱلْعَيْنَ بِٱلْعَيْنِ وَٱلْأَنفَ بِٱلْأَنفِ وَٱلْأُذُنَ بِٱلْأُذُنِ وَٱلسِّنَّ بِٱلسِّنِّ وَٱلْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ ۚ فَمَن تَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَّهُۥ ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
wa-katabnā ʿalayhim fīhā ˈanna n-nafsa bi-n-nafsi wa-l-ʿayna bi-l-ʿayni wa-l-ˈanfa bi-l-ˈanfi wa-l-ˈuḏuna bi-l-ˈuḏuni wa-s-sinna bi-s-sinni wa-l-ǧurūḥa qiṣāṣun fa-man taṣaddaqa bihī fa-huwa kaffāratun lahū wa-man lam yaḥkum bi-mā ˈanzala llāhu fa-ˈulāˈika humu ẓ-ẓālimūna
In it We prescribed for them: a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, and an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and retaliation for wounds. Yet whoever remits it out of charity, that shall be an atonement for him. Those who do not judge by what Allah has sent down—it is they who are the wrongdoers.
وَقَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِم بِعِيسَى ٱبْنِ مَرْيَمَ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْإِنجِيلَ فِيهِ هُدًى وَنُورٌ وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةً لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
wa-qaffaynā ʿalā ˈāṯārihim bi-ʿīsā bni maryama muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayhi mina t-tawrāti wa-ˈātaynāhu l-ˈinǧīla fīhi hudan wa-nūrun wa-muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayhi mina t-tawrāti wa-hudan wa-mawʿiẓatan li-l-muttaqīna
We followed them with Jesus son of Mary, to confirm that which was before him of the Torah, and We gave him the Evangel containing guidance and light, confirming what was before it of the Torah, and as guidance and advice for the Godwary.
وَلْيَحْكُمْ أَهْلُ ٱلْإِنجِيلِ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ
wa-l-yaḥkum ˈahlu l-ˈinǧīli bi-mā ˈanzala llāhu fīhi wa-man lam yaḥkum bi-mā ˈanzala llāhu fa-ˈulāˈika humu l-fāsiqūna
Let the people of the Evangel judge by what Allah has sent down in it. Those who do not judge by what Allah has sent down—it is they who are the transgressors.
وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَـٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِى مَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۖ فَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ
wa-ˈanzalnā ˈilayka l-kitāba bi-l-ḥaqqi muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayhi mina l-kitābi wa-muhayminan ʿalayhi fa-ḥkum baynahum bi-mā ˈanzala llāhu wa-lā tattabiʿ ˈahwāˈahum ʿammā ǧāˈaka mina l-ḥaqqi li-kullin ǧaʿalnā minkum širʿatan wa-minhāǧan wa-law šāˈa llāhu la-ǧaʿalakum ˈummatan wāḥidatan wa-lākin li-yabluwakum fī mā ˈātākum fa-stabiqū l-ḫayrāti ˈilā llāhi marǧiʿukum ǧamīʿan fa-yunabbiˈukum bi-mā kuntum fīhi taḫtalifūna
We have sent down to you the Book with the truth, confirming what was before it of the Book and as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their desires against the truth that has come to you. For each [community] among you We had appointed a code [of law] and a path, and had Allah wished He would have made you one community, but [His purposes required] that He should test you in respect to what He has given you. So take the lead in all good works. To Allah shall be the return of you all, whereat He will inform you concerning that about which you used to differ.
وَأَنِ ٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَٱحْذَرْهُمْ أَن يَفْتِنُوكَ عَنۢ بَعْضِ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُصِيبَهُم بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَفَـٰسِقُونَ
wa-ˈani ḥkum baynahum bi-mā ˈanzala llāhu wa-lā tattabiʿ ˈahwāˈahum wa-ḥḏarhum ˈan yaftinūka ʿan baʿḍi mā ˈanzala llāhu ˈilayka fa-ˈin tawallaw fa-ʿlam ˈannamā yurīdu llāhu ˈan yuṣībahum bi-baʿḍi ḏunūbihim wa-ˈinna kaṯīran mina n-nāsi la-fāsiqūna
Judge between them by what Allah has sent down, and do not follow their desires. Beware of them lest they should beguile you from part of what Allah has sent down to you. But if they turn their backs [on you], then know that Allah desires to punish them for some of their sins, and indeed many of the people are transgressors.
أَفَحُكْمَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ يَبْغُونَ ۚ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ حُكْمًا لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ
ˈa-fa-ḥukma l-ǧāhiliyyati yabġūna wa-man ˈaḥsanu mina llāhi ḥukman li-qawmin yūqinūna
Do they seek the judgement of [pagan] ignorance? But who is better than Allah in judgement for a people who have certainty?
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْيَهُودَ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۘ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنْهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā tattaḫiḏū l-yahūda wa-n-naṣārā ˈawliyāˈa baʿḍuhum ˈawliyāˈu baʿḍin wa-man yatawallahum minkum fa-ˈinnahū minhum ˈinna llāha lā yahdī l-qawma ẓ-ẓālimīna
O you who have faith! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for allies: they are allies of each other. Any of you who allies with them is indeed one of them. Indeed Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot.
فَتَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِيهِمْ يَقُولُونَ نَخْشَىٰٓ أَن تُصِيبَنَا دَآئِرَةٌ ۚ فَعَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِٱلْفَتْحِ أَوْ أَمْرٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦ فَيُصْبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَسَرُّوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ نَـٰدِمِينَ
fa-tarā llaḏīna fī qulūbihim maraḍun yusāriʿūna fīhim yaqūlūna naḫšā ˈan tuṣībanā dāˈiratun fa-ʿasā llāhu ˈan yaˈtiya bi-l-fatḥi ˈaw ˈamrin min ʿindihī fa-yuṣbiḥū ʿalā mā ˈasarrū fī ˈanfusihim nādimīna
Yet you see those in whose hearts is a sickness rushing to them, saying, ‘We fear lest a turn of fortune should visit us.’ Maybe Allah will bring about a victory, or a command from Him, and then they will be regretful for what they kept secret in their hearts,
وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ۙ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَعَكُمْ ۚ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ خَـٰسِرِينَ
wa-yaqūlu llaḏīna ˈāmanū ˈa-hāˈulāˈi llaḏīna ˈaqsamū bi-llāhi ǧahda ˈaymānihim ˈinnahum la-maʿakum ḥabiṭat ˈaʿmāluhum fa-ˈaṣbaḥū ḫāsirīna
and the faithful will say, ‘Are these the ones who swore by Allah with solemn oaths that they were with you?!’ Their works have failed, and they have become losers.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَن يَرْتَدَّ مِنكُمْ عَن دِينِهِۦ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِى ٱللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُۥٓ أَذِلَّةٍ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَعِزَّةٍ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ يُجَـٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَآئِمٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū man yartadda minkum ʿan dīnihī fa-sawfa yaˈtī llāhu bi-qawmin yuḥibbuhum wa-yuḥibbūnahū ˈaḏillatin ʿalā l-muˈminīna ˈaʿizzatin ʿalā l-kāfirīna yuǧāhidūna fī sabīli llāhi wa-lā yaḫāfūna lawmata lāˈimin ḏālika faḍlu llāhi yuˈtīhi man yašāˈu wa-llāhu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun
O you who have faith! Should any of you desert his religion, Allah will soon bring a people whom He loves and who love Him, [who will be] humble towards the faithful, stern towards the faithless, waging jihad in the way of Allah, not fearing the blame of any blamer. That is Allah’s grace, which He grants to whomever He wishes, and Allah is all-bounteous, all-knowing.
إِنَّمَا وَلِيُّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُمْ رَٰكِعُونَ
ˈinnamā waliyyukumu llāhu wa-rasūluhū wa-llaḏīna ˈāmanū llaḏīna yuqīmūna ṣ-ṣalāta wa-yuˈtūna z-zakāta wa-hum rākiʿūna
Your guardian is only Allah, His Apostle, and the faithful who maintain the prayer and give the zakat while bowing down.
وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فَإِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
wa-man yatawalla llāha wa-rasūlahū wa-llaḏīna ˈāmanū fa-ˈinna ḥizba llāhi humu l-ġālibūna
Whoever takes for his guardians Allah, His Apostle and the faithful [should know that] the confederates of Allah are indeed the victorious.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā tattaḫiḏū llaḏīna ttaḫaḏū dīnakum huzuwan wa-laʿiban mina llaḏīna ˈūtū l-kitāba min qablikum wa-l-kuffāra ˈawliyāˈa wa-ttaqū llāha ˈin kuntum muˈminīna
O you who have faith! Do not take those who take your religion in derision and play, from among those who were given the Book before you, and the infidels, as friends, and be wary of Allah, should you be faithful.
وَإِذَا نَادَيْتُمْ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ٱتَّخَذُوهَا هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْقِلُونَ
wa-ˈiḏā nādaytum ˈilā ṣ-ṣalāti ttaḫaḏūhā huzuwan wa-laʿiban ḏālika bi-ˈannahum qawmun lā yaʿqilūna
When you call to prayer, they take it in derision and play. That is because they are a people who do not exercise their reason.
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ هَلْ تَنقِمُونَ مِنَّآ إِلَّآ أَنْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلُ وَأَنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ
qul yā-ˈahla l-kitābi hal tanqimūna minnā ˈillā ˈan ˈāmannā bi-llāhi wa-mā ˈunzila ˈilaynā wa-mā ˈunzila min qablu wa-ˈanna ˈakṯarakum fāsiqūna
Say, ‘O People of the Book! Are you vindictive toward us for any reason except that we have faith in Allah and in what has been sent down to us, and in what was sent down before, and that most of you are transgressors?’
قُلْ هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرٍّ مِّن ذَٰلِكَ مَثُوبَةً عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ مَن لَّعَنَهُ ٱللَّهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْقِرَدَةَ وَٱلْخَنَازِيرَ وَعَبَدَ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ عَن سَوَآءِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ
qul hal ˈunabbiˈukum bi-šarrin min ḏālika maṯūbatan ʿinda llāhi man laʿanahu llāhu wa-ġaḍiba ʿalayhi wa-ǧaʿala minhumu l-qiradata wa-l-ḫanāzīra wa-ʿabada ṭ-ṭāġūta ˈulāˈika šarrun makānan wa-ˈaḍallu ʿan sawāˈi s-sabīli
Say, ‘Shall I inform you concerning something worse than that as a requital from Allah? Those whom Allah has cursed and with whom He is wrathful, and turned some of whom into apes and swine, and worshippers of fake deities! Such are in a worse situation and more astray from the right way.’
وَإِذَا جَآءُوكُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَقَد دَّخَلُوا۟ بِٱلْكُفْرِ وَهُمْ قَدْ خَرَجُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْتُمُونَ
wa-ˈiḏā ǧāˈūkum qālū ˈāmannā wa-qad daḫalū bi-l-kufri wa-hum qad ḫaraǧū bihī wa-llāhu ˈaʿlamu bi-mā kānū yaktumūna
When they come to you, they say, ‘We believe.’ Certainly, they enter with disbelief and leave with it, and Allah knows best as to what they have been concealing.
وَتَرَىٰ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُمْ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَأَكْلِهِمُ ٱلسُّحْتَ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
wa-tarā kaṯīran minhum yusāriʿūna fī l-ˈiṯmi wa-l-ʿudwāni wa-ˈaklihimu s-suḥta la-biˈsa mā kānū yaʿmalūna
You see many of them actively engaged in sin and aggression, and consuming illicit gains. Surely, evil is what they have been doing.
لَوْلَا يَنْهَىٰهُمُ ٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ عَن قَوْلِهِمُ ٱلْإِثْمَ وَأَكْلِهِمُ ٱلسُّحْتَ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُونَ
law-lā yanhāhumu r-rabbāniyyūna wa-l-ˈaḥbāru ʿan qawlihimu l-ˈiṯma wa-ˈaklihimu s-suḥta la-biˈsa mā kānū yaṣnaʿūna
Why do not the rabbis and the scribes forbid them from sinful speech and consuming illicit gains? Surely, evil is what they have been working.
وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ يَدُ ٱللَّهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ ۚ غُلَّتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا۟ بِمَا قَالُوا۟ ۘ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ يُنفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَآءُ ۚ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَـٰنًا وَكُفْرًا ۚ وَأَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ كُلَّمَآ أَوْقَدُوا۟ نَارًا لِّلْحَرْبِ أَطْفَأَهَا ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا ۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
wa-qālati l-yahūdu yadu llāhi maġlūlatun ġullat ˈaydīhim wa-luʿinū bi-mā qālū bal yadāhu mabsūṭatāni yunfiqu kayfa yašāˈu wa-la-yazīdanna kaṯīran minhum mā ˈunzila ˈilayka min rabbika ṭuġyānan wa-kufran wa-ˈalqaynā baynahumu l-ʿadāwata wa-l-baġḍāˈa ˈilā yawmi l-qiyāmati kullamā ˈawqadū nāran li-l-ḥarbi ˈaṭfaˈahā llāhu wa-yasʿawna fī l-ˈarḍi fasādan wa-llāhu lā yuḥibbu l-mufsidīna
The Jews say, ‘Allah’s hand is tied up.’ Tied up be their hands, and cursed be they for what they say! No, His hands are wide open: He bestows as He wishes. Surely many of them will be increased in rebellion and unfaith by what has been sent to you from your Lord, and We have cast enmity and hatred amongst them until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they ignite the flames of war, Allah puts them out. They seek to cause corruption on the earth, and Allah does not like the agents of corruption.
وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّقَوْا۟ لَكَفَّرْنَا عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
wa-law ˈanna ˈahla l-kitābi ˈāmanū wa-ttaqaw la-kaffarnā ʿanhum sayyiˈātihim wa-la-ˈadḫalnāhum ǧannāti n-naʿīmi
Had the People of the Book believed and been Godwary, We would surely have absolved them of their misdeeds and admitted them into gardens of bliss.
وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أَقَامُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِم مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ لَأَكَلُوا۟ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِم ۚ مِّنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَآءَ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ
wa-law ˈannahum ˈaqāmū t-tawrāta wa-l-ˈinǧīla wa-mā ˈunzila ˈilayhim min rabbihim la-ˈakalū min fawqihim wa-min taḥti ˈarǧulihim minhum ˈummatun muqtaṣidatun wa-kaṯīrun minhum sāˈa mā yaʿmalūna
Had they observed the Torah and the Evangel, and what was sent down to them from their Lord, they would surely have drawn nourishment from above them and from beneath their feet. There is an upright group among them, but evil is what many of them do.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۖ وَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُۥ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
yā-ˈayyuhā r-rasūlu balliġ mā ˈunzila ˈilayka min rabbika wa-ˈin lam tafʿal fa-mā ballaġta risālatahū wa-llāhu yaʿṣimuka mina n-nāsi ˈinna llāha lā yahdī l-qawma l-kāfirīna
O Apostle! Communicate that which has been sent down to you from your Lord, and if you do not, you will not have communicated His message, and Allah shall protect you from the people. Indeed Allah does not guide the faithless lot.
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰ تُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۗ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَـٰنًا وَكُفْرًا ۖ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
qul yā-ˈahla l-kitābi lastum ʿalā šayˈin ḥattā tuqīmū t-tawrāta wa-l-ˈinǧīla wa-mā ˈunzila ˈilaykum min rabbikum wa-la-yazīdanna kaṯīran minhum mā ˈunzila ˈilayka min rabbika ṭuġyānan wa-kufran fa-lā taˈsa ʿalā l-qawmi l-kāfirīna
Say, ‘O People of the Book! You do not stand on anything until you observe the Torah and the Evangel and what was sent down to you from your Lord.’ Surely many of them will be increased in rebellion and unfaith by what has been sent down to you from your Lord. So do not grieve for the faithless lot.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلصَّـٰبِـُٔونَ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
ˈinna llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-llaḏīna hādū wa-ṣ-ṣābiˈūna wa-n-naṣārā man ˈāmana bi-llāhi wa-l-yawmi l-ˈāḫiri wa-ʿamila ṣāliḥan fa-lā ḫawfun ʿalayhim wa-lā hum yaḥzanūna
Indeed the faithful, the Jews, the Sabaeans, and the Christians—those who have faith in Allah and the Last Day and act righteously—they will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
لَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَـٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا ۖ كُلَّمَا جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَرِيقًا كَذَّبُوا۟ وَفَرِيقًا يَقْتُلُونَ
la-qad ˈaḫaḏnā mīṯāqa banī ˈisrāˈīla wa-ˈarsalnā ˈilayhim rusulan kullamā ǧāˈahum rasūlun bi-mā lā tahwā ˈanfusuhum farīqan kaḏḏabū wa-farīqan yaqtulūna
Certainly We took a pledge from the Children of Israel, and We sent apostles to them. Whenever an apostle brought them that which was not to their liking, they would impugn a part of them, and a part they would slay.
وَحَسِبُوٓا۟ أَلَّا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ فَعَمُوا۟ وَصَمُّوا۟ ثُمَّ تَابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ عَمُوا۟ وَصَمُّوا۟ كَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرٌۢ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ
wa-ḥasibū ˈallā takūna fitnatun fa-ʿamū wa-ṣammū ṯumma tāba llāhu ʿalayhim ṯumma ʿamū wa-ṣammū kaṯīrun minhum wa-llāhu baṣīrun bi-mā yaʿmalūna
They supposed there would be no testing, so they became blind and deaf. Thereafter Allah accepted their repentance, yet [again] many of them became blind and deaf, and Allah watches what they do.
لَقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ يَـٰبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبَّكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَىٰهُ ٱلنَّارُ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ
la-qad kafara llaḏīna qālū ˈinna llāha huwa l-masīḥu bnu maryama wa-qāla l-masīḥu yā-banī ˈisrāˈīla ʿbudū llāha rabbī wa-rabbakum ˈinnahū man yušrik bi-llāhi fa-qad ḥarrama llāhu ʿalayhi l-ǧannata wa-maˈwāhu n-nāru wa-mā li-ẓ-ẓālimīna min ˈanṣārin
They are certainly faithless who say, ‘Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary.’ But the Messiah had said, ‘O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord, and your Lord. Indeed whoever ascribes partners to Allah, Allah shall forbid him [entry into] paradise, and his refuge shall be the Fire, and the wrongdoers will not have any helpers.’
لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلَـٰثَةٍ ۘ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّآ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۚ وَإِن لَّمْ يَنتَهُوا۟ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ لَيَمَسَّنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
la-qad kafara llaḏīna qālū ˈinna llāha ṯāliṯu ṯalāṯatin wa-mā min ˈilāhin ˈillā ˈilāhun wāḥidun wa-ˈin lam yantahū ʿammā yaqūlūna la-yamassanna llaḏīna kafarū minhum ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun
They are certainly faithless who say, ‘Allah is the third [person] of a trinity,’ while there is no god except the One God. If they do not relinquish what they say, there shall befall the faithless among them a painful punishment.
أَفَلَا يَتُوبُونَ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَهُۥ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
ˈa-fa-lā yatūbūna ˈilā llāhi wa-yastaġfirūnahū wa-llāhu ġafūrun raḥīmun
Will they not repent to Allah and plead to Him for forgiveness? Yet Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
مَّا ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ وَأُمُّهُۥ صِدِّيقَةٌ ۖ كَانَا يَأْكُلَانِ ٱلطَّعَامَ ۗ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُبَيِّنُ لَهُمُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ ثُمَّ ٱنظُرْ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ
mā l-masīḥu bnu maryama ˈillā rasūlun qad ḫalat min qablihi r-rusulu wa-ˈummuhū ṣiddīqatun kānā yaˈkulāni ṭ-ṭaʿāma nẓur kayfa nubayyinu lahumu l-ˈāyāti ṯumma nẓur ˈannā yuˈfakūna
The Messiah, son of Mary, is but an apostle. Certainly, [other] apostles have passed before him, and his mother was a truthful one. Both of them would eat food. Look how We clarify the signs for them, and yet, look, how they go astray!
قُلْ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا ۚ وَٱللَّهُ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
qul ˈa-taʿbudūna min dūni llāhi mā lā yamliku lakum ḍarran wa-lā nafʿan wa-llāhu huwa s-samīʿu l-ʿalīmu
Say, ‘Do you worship, besides Allah, what has no power to bring you any benefit or harm, while Allah—He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing?!’
قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا تَغْلُوا۟ فِى دِينِكُمْ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ وَأَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًا وَضَلُّوا۟ عَن سَوَآءِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ
qul yā-ˈahla l-kitābi lā taġlū fī dīnikum ġayra l-ḥaqqi wa-lā tattabiʿū ˈahwāˈa qawmin qad ḍallū min qablu wa-ˈaḍallū kaṯīran wa-ḍallū ʿan sawāˈi s-sabīli
Say, ‘O People of the Book! Do not unduly exceed the bounds in your religion and do not follow the fancies of a people who went astray in the past, and led many astray, and [themselves] strayed from the right path.’
لُعِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ عَلَىٰ لِسَانِ دَاوُۥدَ وَعِيسَى ٱبْنِ مَرْيَمَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ
luʿina llaḏīna kafarū min banī ˈisrāˈīla ʿalā lisāni dāwūda wa-ʿīsā bni maryama ḏālika bi-mā ʿaṣaw wa-kānū yaʿtadūna
The faithless among the Children of Israel were cursed on the tongue of David and Jesus son of Mary. That, because they would disobey and they used to commit transgression.
كَانُوا۟ لَا يَتَنَاهَوْنَ عَن مُّنكَرٍ فَعَلُوهُ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
kānū lā yatanāhawna ʿan munkarin faʿalūhu la-biˈsa mā kānū yafʿalūna
They would not forbid one another from the wrongs that they committed. Surely, evil is what they had been doing.
تَرَىٰ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لَهُمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ أَن سَخِطَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَفِى ٱلْعَذَابِ هُمْ خَـٰلِدُونَ
tarā kaṯīran minhum yatawallawna llaḏīna kafarū la-biˈsa mā qaddamat lahum ˈanfusuhum ˈan saḫiṭa llāhu ʿalayhim wa-fī l-ʿaḏābi hum ḫālidūna
You see many of them fraternizing with the faithless. Surely evil is what they have sent ahead for their souls, as Allah is displeased with them and they shall remain in punishment [forever].
وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلنَّبِىِّ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَا ٱتَّخَذُوهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ
wa-law kānū yuˈminūna bi-llāhi wa-n-nabiyyi wa-mā ˈunzila ˈilayhi mā ttaḫaḏūhum ˈawliyāˈa wa-lākinna kaṯīran minhum fāsiqūna
Had they believed in Allah and the Prophet and what has been sent down to him, they would not have taken them for allies. But most of them are transgressors.
لَتَجِدَنَّ أَشَدَّ ٱلنَّاسِ عَدَٰوَةً لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱلْيَهُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۖ وَلَتَجِدَنَّ أَقْرَبَهُم مَّوَدَّةً لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا نَصَـٰرَىٰ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ مِنْهُمْ قِسِّيسِينَ وَرُهْبَانًا وَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
la-taǧidanna ˈašadda n-nāsi ʿadāwatan li-llaḏīna ˈāmanū l-yahūda wa-llaḏīna ˈašrakū wa-la-taǧidanna ˈaqrabahum mawaddatan li-llaḏīna ˈāmanū llaḏīna qālū ˈinnā naṣārā ḏālika bi-ˈanna minhum qissīsīna wa-ruhbānan wa-ˈannahum lā yastakbirūna
Surely You will find the most hostile of all people towards the faithful to be the Jews and the polytheists, and surely you will find the nearest of them in affection to the faithful to be those who say ‘We are Christians.’ That is because there are priests and monks among them, and because they are not arrogant.
وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا۟ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ تَرَىٰٓ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ ٱلدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ ۖ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱكْتُبْنَا مَعَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
wa-ˈiḏā samiʿū mā ˈunzila ˈilā r-rasūli tarā ˈaʿyunahum tafīḍu mina d-damʿi mimmā ʿarafū mina l-ḥaqqi yaqūlūna rabbanā ˈāmannā fa-ktubnā maʿa š-šāhidīna
When they hear what has been revealed to the Apostle, you see their eyes fill with tears because of the truth that they recognize. They say, ‘Our Lord, we believe; so write us down among the witnesses.
وَمَا لَنَا لَا نُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَنَطْمَعُ أَن يُدْخِلَنَا رَبُّنَا مَعَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
wa-mā lanā lā nuˈminu bi-llāhi wa-mā ǧāˈanā mina l-ḥaqqi wa-naṭmaʿu ˈan yudḫilanā rabbunā maʿa l-qawmi ṣ-ṣāliḥīna
Why should we not believe in Allah and the truth that has come to us, eager as we are that our Lord should admit us among the righteous people?’
فَأَثَـٰبَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا قَالُوا۟ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
fa-ˈaṯābahumu llāhu bi-mā qālū ǧannātin taǧrī min taḥtihā l-ˈanhāru ḫālidīna fīhā wa-ḏālika ǧazāˈu l-muḥsinīna
So, for what they said, Allah requited them with gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], and that is the reward of the virtuous.
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
wa-llaḏīna kafarū wa-kaḏḏabū bi-ˈāyātinā ˈulāˈika ˈaṣḥābu l-ǧaḥīmi
But those who are faithless and deny Our signs—they shall be the inmates of hell.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُحَرِّمُوا۟ طَيِّبَـٰتِ مَآ أَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَعْتَدُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā tuḥarrimū ṭ-ṭayyibāti mā ˈaḥalla llāhu lakum wa-lā taʿtadū ˈinna llāha lā yuḥibbu l-muʿtadīna
O you who have faith! Do not prohibit the good things that Allah has made lawful to you, and do not transgress. Indeed Allah does not like the transgressors.
وَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ حَلَـٰلًا طَيِّبًا ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنتُم بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنُونَ
wa-kulū mimmā razaqakumu llāhu ḥalālan ṭayyiban wa-ttaqū llāha llaḏī ˈantum bihī muˈminūna
Eat the lawful and good things Allah has provided you, and be wary of Allah in whom you have faith.
لَا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِٱللَّغْوِ فِىٓ أَيْمَـٰنِكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن يُؤَاخِذُكُم بِمَا عَقَّدتُّمُ ٱلْأَيْمَـٰنَ ۖ فَكَفَّـٰرَتُهُۥٓ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَـٰكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ ۖ فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلَـٰثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ كَفَّـٰرَةُ أَيْمَـٰنِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ ۚ وَٱحْفَظُوٓا۟ أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
lā yuˈāḫiḏukumu llāhu bi-l-laġwi fī ˈaymānikum wa-lākin yuˈāḫiḏukum bi-mā ʿaqqadtumu l-ˈaymāna fa-kaffāratuhū ˈiṭʿāmu ʿašarati masākīna min ˈawsaṭi mā tuṭʿimūna ˈahlīkum ˈaw kiswatuhum ˈaw taḥrīru raqabatin fa-man lam yaǧid fa-ṣiyāmu ṯalāṯati ˈayyāmin ḏālika kaffāratu ˈaymānikum ˈiḏā ḥalaftum wa-ḥfaẓū ˈaymānakum ka-ḏālika yubayyinu llāhu lakum ˈāyātihī laʿallakum taškurūna
Allah shall not take you to task for what is frivolous in your oaths; but He shall take you to task for what you pledge in earnest. The atonement for it is to feed ten needy persons with the average food you give to your families, or their clothing, or the freeing of a slave. He who cannot afford [any of these] shall fast for three days. That is the atonement for your oaths when you vow. But keep your oaths. Thus does Allah clarify His signs for you so that you may give thanks.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا ٱلْخَمْرُ وَٱلْمَيْسِرُ وَٱلْأَنصَابُ وَٱلْأَزْلَـٰمُ رِجْسٌ مِّنْ عَمَلِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ فَٱجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ˈinnamā l-ḫamru wa-l-maysiru wa-l-ˈanṣābu wa-l-ˈazlāmu riǧsun min ʿamali š-šayṭāni fa-ǧtanibūhu laʿallakum tufliḥūna
O you who have faith! Indeed wine, gambling, idols, and the divining arrows are abominations of Satan’s doing, so avoid them, so that you may be felicitous.
إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ أَن يُوقِعَ بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ فِى ٱلْخَمْرِ وَٱلْمَيْسِرِ وَيَصُدَّكُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ وَعَنِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّنتَهُونَ
ˈinnamā yurīdu š-šayṭānu ˈan yūqiʿa baynakumu l-ʿadāwata wa-l-baġḍāˈa fī l-ḫamri wa-l-maysiri wa-yaṣuddakum ʿan ḏikri llāhi wa-ʿani ṣ-ṣalāti fa-hal ˈantum muntahūna
Indeed Satan seeks to cast enmity and hatred among you through wine and gambling, and to hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. Will you, then, relinquish?
وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَٱحْذَرُوا۟ ۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَا عَلَىٰ رَسُولِنَا ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
wa-ˈaṭīʿū llāha wa-ˈaṭīʿū r-rasūla wa-ḥḏarū fa-ˈin tawallaytum fa-ʿlamū ˈannamā ʿalā rasūlinā l-balāġu l-mubīnu
And obey Allah and obey the Apostle, and beware; but if you turn your backs, then know that Our Apostle’s duty is only to communicate in clear terms.
لَيْسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوٓا۟ إِذَا مَا ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ ثُمَّ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّأَحْسَنُوا۟ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
laysa ʿalā llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti ǧunāḥun fī-mā ṭaʿimū ˈiḏā mā ttaqaw wa-ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti ṯumma ttaqaw wa-ˈāmanū ṯumma ttaqaw wa-ˈaḥsanū wa-llāhu yuḥibbu l-muḥsinīna
There will be no sin upon those who have faith and do righteous deeds in regard to what they have eaten [in the past] so long as they are Godwary and faithful and do righteous deeds, and are further Godwary and faithful, and are further Godwary and virtuous. And Allah loves the virtuous.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَيَبْلُوَنَّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِشَىْءٍ مِّنَ ٱلصَّيْدِ تَنَالُهُۥٓ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَرِمَاحُكُمْ لِيَعْلَمَ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَخَافُهُۥ بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۚ فَمَنِ ٱعْتَدَىٰ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū la-yabluwannakumu llāhu bi-šayˈin mina ṣ-ṣaydi tanāluhū ˈaydīkum wa-rimāḥukum li-yaʿlama llāhu man yaḫāfuhū bi-l-ġaybi fa-mani ʿtadā baʿda ḏālika fa-lahū ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun
O you who have faith! Allah will surely test you with some of the game within the reach of your hands and spears, so that Allah may know those who fear Him in secret. So whoever transgresses after that, there is a painful punishment for him.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلصَّيْدَ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ ۚ وَمَن قَتَلَهُۥ مِنكُم مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآءٌ مِّثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ ٱلنَّعَمِ يَحْكُمُ بِهِۦ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِّنكُمْ هَدْيًۢا بَـٰلِغَ ٱلْكَعْبَةِ أَوْ كَفَّـٰرَةٌ طَعَامُ مَسَـٰكِينَ أَوْ عَدْلُ ذَٰلِكَ صِيَامًا لِّيَذُوقَ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِۦ ۗ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَ ۚ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَيَنتَقِمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنْهُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā taqtulū ṣ-ṣayda wa-ˈantum ḥurumun wa-man qatalahū minkum mutaʿammidan fa-ǧazāˈun miṯlu mā qatala mina n-naʿami yaḥkumu bihī ḏawā ʿadlin minkum hadyan bāliġa l-kaʿbati ˈaw kaffāratun ṭaʿāmu masākīna ˈaw ʿadlu ḏālika ṣiyāman li-yaḏūqa wabāla ˈamrihī ʿafā llāhu ʿammā salafa wa-man ʿāda fa-yantaqimu llāhu minhu wa-llāhu ʿazīzun ḏū ntiqāmin
O you who have faith! Do not kill any game when you are in pilgrim sanctity. Should any of you kill it intentionally, its atonement, the counterpart from cattle of what he has killed, as judged by two fair men among you, will be an offering brought to the Ka‘bah, or an atonement by feeding needy persons, or its equivalent in fasting, that he may taste the untoward consequences of his conduct. Allah has excused what is already past; but should anyone resume, Allah shall take vengeance on him, for Allah is all-mighty, avenger.
أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ صَيْدُ ٱلْبَحْرِ وَطَعَامُهُۥ مَتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِلسَّيَّارَةِ ۖ وَحُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ صَيْدُ ٱلْبَرِّ مَا دُمْتُمْ حُرُمًا ۗ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِىٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
ˈuḥilla lakum ṣaydu l-baḥri wa-ṭaʿāmuhū matāʿan lakum wa-li-s-sayyārati wa-ḥurrima ʿalaykum ṣaydu l-barri mā dumtum ḥuruman wa-ttaqū llāha llaḏī ˈilayhi tuḥšarūna
You are permitted the game of the sea and its food, a provision for you and for the caravans, but you are forbidden the game of the land so long as you remain in pilgrim sanctity, and be wary of Allah toward whom you will be gathered.
جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْكَعْبَةَ ٱلْبَيْتَ ٱلْحَرَامَ قِيَـٰمًا لِّلنَّاسِ وَٱلشَّهْرَ ٱلْحَرَامَ وَٱلْهَدْىَ وَٱلْقَلَـٰٓئِدَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
ǧaʿala llāhu l-kaʿbata l-bayta l-ḥarāma qiyāman li-n-nāsi wa-š-šahra l-ḥarāma wa-l-hadya wa-l-qalāˈida ḏālika li-taʿlamū ˈanna llāha yaʿlamu mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ˈarḍi wa-ˈanna llāha bi-kulli šayˈin ʿalīmun-i
Allah has made the Ka‘bah, the Sacred House, a [means of] sustentation for mankind, and [also] the sacred month, the offering and the garlands, so that you may know that Allah knows whatever there is in the heavens and whatever there is in the earth, and that Allah has knowledge of all things.
ٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
iʿlamū ˈanna llāha šadīdu l-ʿiqābi wa-ˈanna llāha ġafūrun raḥīmun
Know that Allah is severe in retribution, and that Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
مَّا عَلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا تَكْتُمُونَ
mā ʿalā r-rasūli ˈillā l-balāġu wa-llāhu yaʿlamu mā tubdūna wa-mā taktumūna
The Apostle’s duty is only to communicate and Allah knows whatever you disclose and whatever you conceal.
قُل لَّا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْخَبِيثُ وَٱلطَّيِّبُ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ كَثْرَةُ ٱلْخَبِيثِ ۚ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ يَـٰٓأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
qul lā yastawī l-ḫabīṯu wa-ṭ-ṭayyibu wa-law ˈaʿǧabaka kaṯratu l-ḫabīṯi fa-ttaqū llāha yā-ˈulī l-ˈalbābi laʿallakum tufliḥūna
Say, ‘The good and the bad are not equal, though the abundance of the bad should amaze you.’ So be wary of Allah, O you who possess intellect, so that you may be felicitous!
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَسْـَٔلُوا۟ عَنْ أَشْيَآءَ إِن تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ وَإِن تَسْـَٔلُوا۟ عَنْهَا حِينَ يُنَزَّلُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنْهَا ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū lā tasˈalū ʿan ˈašyāˈa ˈin tubda lakum tasuˈkum wa-ˈin tasˈalū ʿanhā ḥīna yunazzalu l-qurˈānu tubda lakum ʿafā llāhu ʿanhā wa-llāhu ġafūrun ḥalīmun
O you who have faith! Do not ask about things, which, if they are disclosed to you, will upset you. Yet if you ask about them while the Quran is being sent down, they shall be disclosed to you. Allah has excused it, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-forbearing.
قَدْ سَأَلَهَا قَوْمٌ مِّن قَبْلِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحُوا۟ بِهَا كَـٰفِرِينَ
qad saˈalahā qawmun min qablikum ṯumma ˈaṣbaḥū bihā kāfirīna
Certainly some people asked about them before you and then came to disbelieve in them.
مَا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَحِيرَةٍ وَلَا سَآئِبَةٍ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٍ وَلَا حَامٍ ۙ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ ۖ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
mā ǧaʿala llāhu min baḥīratin wa-lā sāˈibatin wa-lā waṣīlatin wa-lā ḥāmin wa-lākinna llaḏīna kafarū yaftarūna ʿalā llāhi l-kaḏiba wa-ˈakṯaruhum lā yaʿqilūna
Allah has not prescribed any such thing as Bahirah, Sa’ibah, Waseelah, or Haam; but those who are faithless fabricate lies against Allah, and most of them do not exercise their reason.
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ قَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ ۚ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ
wa-ˈiḏā qīla lahum taʿālaw ˈilā mā ˈanzala llāhu wa-ˈilā r-rasūli qālū ḥasbunā mā waǧadnā ʿalayhi ˈābāˈanā ˈa-wa-law kāna ˈābāˈuhum lā yaʿlamūna šayˈan wa-lā yahtadūna
When they are told, ‘Come to what Allah has sent down and [come] to the Apostle,’ they say, ‘Sufficient for us is what we have found our fathers following.’ What, even if their fathers did not know anything and were not guided?!
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ لَا يَضُرُّكُم مَّن ضَلَّ إِذَا ٱهْتَدَيْتُمْ ۚ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū ʿalaykum ˈanfusakum lā yaḍurrukum man ḍalla ˈiḏā htadaytum ˈilā llāhi marǧiʿukum ǧamīʿan fa-yunabbiˈukum bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna
O you who have faith! Take care of your own souls. He who strays cannot hurt you if you are guided. To Allah will be the return of you all, whereat He will inform you concerning what you used to do.
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ شَهَـٰدَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ حِينَ ٱلْوَصِيَّةِ ٱثْنَانِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِّنكُمْ أَوْ ءَاخَرَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ إِنْ أَنتُمْ ضَرَبْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَصَـٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۚ تَحْبِسُونَهُمَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِٱللَّهِ إِنِ ٱرْتَبْتُمْ لَا نَشْتَرِى بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰ ۙ وَلَا نَكْتُمُ شَهَـٰدَةَ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْـَٔاثِمِينَ
yā-ˈayyuhā llaḏīna ˈāmanū šahādatu baynikum ˈiḏā ḥaḍara ˈaḥadakumu l-mawtu ḥīna l-waṣiyyati ṯnāni ḏawā ʿadlin minkum ˈaw ˈāḫarāni min ġayrikum ˈin ˈantum ḍarabtum fī l-ˈarḍi fa-ˈaṣābatkum muṣībatu l-mawti taḥbisūnahumā min baʿdi ṣ-ṣalāti fa-yuqsimāni bi-llāhi ˈini rtabtum lā naštarī bihī ṯamanan wa-law kāna ḏā qurbā wa-lā naktumu š-šahādata llāhi ˈinnā ˈiḏan la-mina l-ˈāṯimīna
O you who have faith! The witness between you, when death approaches any of you, while making a bequest, shall be two fair men from among yourselves—or two from among others, if you are journeying in the land and the affliction of death visits you. You shall detain the two of them after the prayer, and, if you have any doubt, they shall vow by Allah, ‘We will not sell it for any gain, even if it were a relative, nor will we conceal the testimony of Allah, for then we would indeed be among the sinners.’
فَإِنْ عُثِرَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنَّهُمَا ٱسْتَحَقَّآ إِثْمًا فَـَٔاخَرَانِ يَقُومَانِ مَقَامَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْأَوْلَيَـٰنِ فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِٱللَّهِ لَشَهَـٰدَتُنَآ أَحَقُّ مِن شَهَـٰدَتِهِمَا وَمَا ٱعْتَدَيْنَآ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
fa-ˈin ʿuṯira ʿalā ˈannahumā staḥaqqā ˈiṯman fa-ˈāḫarāni yaqūmāni maqāmahumā mina llaḏīna staḥaqqa ʿalayhimu l-ˈawlayāni fa-yuqsimāni bi-llāhi la-š-šahādatunā ˈaḥaqqu min šahādatihimā wa-mā ʿtadaynā ˈinnā ˈiḏan la-mina ẓ-ẓālimīna
But if it is found that both of them were guilty of a sin, then two others shall stand up in their place from among those nearest in kinship to the claimants and swear by Allah: ‘Our testimony is surely truer than their testimony, and we have not transgressed, for then we would indeed be among the wrongdoers.’
ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهَآ أَوْ يَخَافُوٓا۟ أَن تُرَدَّ أَيْمَـٰنٌۢ بَعْدَ أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ۗ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
ḏālika ˈadnā ˈan yaˈtū bi-š-šahādati ʿalā waǧhihā ˈaw yaḫāfū ˈan turadda ˈaymānun baʿda ˈaymānihim wa-ttaqū llāha wa-smaʿū wa-llāhu lā yahdī l-qawma l-fāsiqīna
That makes it likelier that they give the testimony in its genuine form, or fear that other oaths will be taken after their oaths. Be wary of Allah and listen, and Allah does not guide the transgressing lot.
يَوْمَ يَجْمَعُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَيَقُولُ مَاذَآ أُجِبْتُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَآ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ عَلَّـٰمُ ٱلْغُيُوبِ
yawma yaǧmaʿu llāhu r-rusula fa-yaqūlu māḏā ˈuǧibtum qālū lā ʿilma lanā ˈinnaka ˈanta ʿallāmu l-ġuyūbi
The day Allah will gather the apostles and say, ‘What was the response to you?’ They will say, ‘We have no knowledge. Indeed You are knower of all that is Unseen.’
إِذْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ يَـٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ٱذْكُرْ نِعْمَتِى عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَتِكَ إِذْ أَيَّدتُّكَ بِرُوحِ ٱلْقُدُسِ تُكَلِّمُ ٱلنَّاسَ فِى ٱلْمَهْدِ وَكَهْلًا ۖ وَإِذْ عَلَّمْتُكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ ۖ وَإِذْ تَخْلُقُ مِنَ ٱلطِّينِ كَهَيْـَٔةِ ٱلطَّيْرِ بِإِذْنِى فَتَنفُخُ فِيهَا فَتَكُونُ طَيْرًۢا بِإِذْنِى ۖ وَتُبْرِئُ ٱلْأَكْمَهَ وَٱلْأَبْرَصَ بِإِذْنِى ۖ وَإِذْ تُخْرِجُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ بِإِذْنِى ۖ وَإِذْ كَفَفْتُ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ عَنكَ إِذْ جِئْتَهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
ˈiḏ qāla llāhu yā-ʿīsā bna maryama ḏkur niʿmatī ʿalayka wa-ʿalā wālidatika ˈiḏ ˈayyadtuka bi-rūḥi l-qudusi tukallimu n-nāsa fī l-mahdi wa-kahlan wa-ˈiḏ ʿallamtuka l-kitāba wa-l-ḥikmata wa-t-tawrāta wa-l-ˈinǧīla wa-ˈiḏ taḫluqu mina ṭ-ṭīni ka-hayˈati ṭ-ṭayri bi-ˈiḏnī fa-tanfuḫu fīhā fa-takūnu ṭayran bi-ˈiḏnī wa-tubriˈu l-ˈakmaha wa-l-ˈabraṣa bi-ˈiḏnī wa-ˈiḏ tuḫriǧu l-mawtā bi-ˈiḏnī wa-ˈiḏ kafaftu banī ˈisrāˈīla ʿanka ˈiḏ ǧiˈtahum bi-l-bayyināti fa-qāla llaḏīna kafarū minhum ˈin hāḏā ˈillā siḥrun mubīnun
When Allah will say, O Jesus son of Mary, remember My blessing upon you and upon your mother, when I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit, so you would speak to the people in the cradle and in adulthood, and when I taught you the Book and wisdom, the Torah and the Evangel, and when you would create from clay the form of a bird, with My leave, and you would breathe into it and it would become a bird, with My leave; and you would heal the blind and the leper, with My leave, and you would raise the dead, with My leave; and when I held off [the evil of] the Children of Israel from you when you brought them manifest proofs, whereat the faithless among them said, ‘This is nothing but plain magic.’
وَإِذْ أَوْحَيْتُ إِلَى ٱلْحَوَارِيِّـۧنَ أَنْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِى وَبِرَسُولِى قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَٱشْهَدْ بِأَنَّنَا مُسْلِمُونَ
wa-ˈiḏ ˈawḥaytu ˈilā l-ḥawāriyyīna ˈan ˈāminū bī wa-bi-rasūlī qālū ˈāmannā wa-šhad bi-ˈannanā muslimūna
And when I inspired the Disciples, [saying], ‘Have faith in Me and My apostle,’ they said, ‘We have faith. Bear witness that we are Muslims.’
إِذْ قَالَ ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ يَـٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةً مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۖ قَالَ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ
ˈiḏ qāla l-ḥawāriyyūna yā-ʿīsā bna maryama hal yastaṭīʿu rabbuka ˈan yunazzila ʿalaynā māˈidatan mina s-samāˈi qāla ttaqū llāha ˈin kuntum muˈminīna
When the Disciples said, ‘O Jesus son of Mary! Can your Lord send down to us a table from the sky?’ Said he, ‘Be wary of Allah, should you be faithful.’
قَالُوا۟ نُرِيدُ أَن نَّأْكُلَ مِنْهَا وَتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُنَا وَنَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ صَدَقْتَنَا وَنَكُونَ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
qālū nurīdu ˈan naˈkula minhā wa-taṭmaˈinna qulūbunā wa-naʿlama ˈan qad ṣadaqtanā wa-nakūna ʿalayhā mina š-šāhidīna
They said, ‘We desire to eat from it, and our hearts will be at rest: we shall know that you have told us the truth, and we shall be among the witnesses to it.’
قَالَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ٱللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَآ أَنزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةً مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدًا لِّأَوَّلِنَا وَءَاخِرِنَا وَءَايَةً مِّنكَ ۖ وَٱرْزُقْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
qāla ʿīsā bnu maryama llāhumma rabbanā ˈanzil ʿalaynā māˈidatan mina s-samāˈi takūnu lanā ʿīdan li-ˈawwalinā wa-ˈāḫirinā wa-ˈāyatan minka wa-rzuqnā wa-ˈanta ḫayru r-rāziqīna
Said Jesus son of Mary, ‘O Allah! Our Lord! Send down to us a table from the sky, to be a festival for us, for the first ones and the last ones among us and as a sign from You, and provide for us; for You are the best of providers.’
قَالَ ٱللَّهُ إِنِّى مُنَزِّلُهَا عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَمَن يَكْفُرْ بَعْدُ مِنكُمْ فَإِنِّىٓ أُعَذِّبُهُۥ عَذَابًا لَّآ أُعَذِّبُهُۥٓ أَحَدًا مِّنَ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
qāla llāhu ˈinnī munazziluhā ʿalaykum fa-man yakfur baʿdu minkum fa-ˈinnī ˈuʿaḏḏibuhū ʿaḏāban lā ˈuʿaḏḏibuhū ˈaḥadan mina l-ʿālamīna
Allah said, ‘I will indeed send it down to you. But should any of you disbelieve after this, I will indeed punish him with a punishment such as I do not punish anyone in all creation.’
وَإِذْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ يَـٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ءَأَنتَ قُلْتَ لِلنَّاسِ ٱتَّخِذُونِى وَأُمِّىَ إِلَـٰهَيْنِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ قَالَ سُبْحَـٰنَكَ مَا يَكُونُ لِىٓ أَنْ أَقُولَ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِحَقٍّ ۚ إِن كُنتُ قُلْتُهُۥ فَقَدْ عَلِمْتَهُۥ ۚ تَعْلَمُ مَا فِى نَفْسِى وَلَآ أَعْلَمُ مَا فِى نَفْسِكَ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ عَلَّـٰمُ ٱلْغُيُوبِ
wa-ˈiḏ qāla llāhu yā-ʿīsā bna maryama ˈa-ˈanta qulta li-n-nāsi ttaḫiḏūnī wa-ˈummī ˈilāhayni min dūni llāhi qāla subḥānaka mā yakūnu lī ˈan ˈaqūla mā laysa lī bi-ḥaqqin ˈin kuntu qultuhū fa-qad ʿalimtahū taʿlamu mā fī nafsī wa-lā ˈaʿlamu mā fī nafsika ˈinnaka ˈanta ʿallāmu l-ġuyūbi
And when Allah will say, ‘O Jesus son of Mary! Was it you who said to the people, ‘‘Take me and my mother for gods besides Allah’’?’ He will say, ‘Immaculate are You! It does not behoove me to say what I have no right to [say]. Had I said it, You would certainly have known it: You know whatever is in my self, and I do not know what is in Your Self. Indeed, You are knower of all that is Unseen.
مَا قُلْتُ لَهُمْ إِلَّا مَآ أَمَرْتَنِى بِهِۦٓ أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبَّكُمْ ۚ وَكُنتُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا مَّا دُمْتُ فِيهِمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيْتَنِى كُنتَ أَنتَ ٱلرَّقِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَأَنتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
mā qultu lahum ˈillā mā ˈamartanī bihī ˈani ʿbudū llāha rabbī wa-rabbakum wa-kuntu ʿalayhim šahīdan mā dumtu fīhim fa-lammā tawaffaytanī kunta ˈanta r-raqība ʿalayhim wa-ˈanta ʿalā kulli šayˈin šahīdun
I did not say to them [anything] except what You had commanded me [to say]: ‘‘Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.’’ And I was a witness to them so long as I was among them. But when You had taken me away, You Yourself were watchful over them, and You are witness to all things.
إِن تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ ۖ وَإِن تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
ˈin tuʿaḏḏibhum fa-ˈinnahum ʿibāduka wa-ˈin taġfir lahum fa-ˈinnaka ˈanta l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu
If You punish them, they are indeed Your creatures; but if You forgive them, You are indeed the All-mighty, the All-wise.’
قَالَ ٱللَّهُ هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ يَنفَعُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ صِدْقُهُمْ ۚ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۚ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
qāla llāhu hāḏā yawmu yanfaʿu ṣ-ṣādiqīna ṣidquhum lahum ǧannātun taǧrī min taḥtihā l-ˈanhāru ḫālidīna fīhā ˈabadan raḍiya llāhu ʿanhum wa-raḍū ʿanhu ḏālika l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu
Allah will say, ‘This day truthfulness shall benefit the truthful. For them there will be gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them forever. Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. That is the great success.’
لِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا فِيهِنَّ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌۢ
li-llāhi mulku s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-mā fīhinna wa-huwa ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever there is in them, and He has power over all things.
