Surah 6
سُورَةُ الأَنۡعَامِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ وَٱلنُّورَ ۖ ثُمَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ
al-ḥamdu li-llāhi llaḏī ḫalaqa s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍa wa-ǧaʿala ẓ-ẓulumāti wa-n-nūra ṯumma llaḏīna kafarū bi-rabbihim yaʿdilūna
All praise belongs to Allah who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Yet the faithless equate [others] with their Lord.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن طِينٍ ثُمَّ قَضَىٰٓ أَجَلًا ۖ وَأَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى عِندَهُۥ ۖ ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ تَمْتَرُونَ
huwa llaḏī ḫalaqakum min ṭīnin ṯumma qaḍā ˈaǧalan wa-ˈaǧalun musamman ʿindahū ṯumma ˈantum tamtarūna
It is He who created you from clay, then ordained the term [of your life]—the specified term is with Him—and yet you are in doubt.
وَهُوَ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ يَعْلَمُ سِرَّكُمْ وَجَهْرَكُمْ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْسِبُونَ
wa-huwa llāhu fī s-samāwāti wa-fī l-ˈarḍi yaʿlamu sirrakum wa-ǧahrakum wa-yaʿlamu mā taksibūna
He is Allah in the heavens and on the earth: He knows your secret and your overt [matters], and He knows what you earn.
وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
wa-mā taˈtīhim min ˈāyatin min ˈāyāti rabbihim ˈillā kānū ʿanhā muʿriḍīna
There did not come to them any sign from among the signs of their Lord, but that they used to disregard it.
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
fa-qad kaḏḏabū bi-l-ḥaqqi lammā ǧāˈahum fa-sawfa yaˈtīhim ˈanbāˈu mā kānū bihī yastahziˈūna
They have certainly denied the truth when it came to them, but soon there will come to them the news of what they have been deriding.
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّنَّـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمْ وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْهِم مِّدْرَارًا وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ
ˈa-lam yaraw kam ˈahlaknā min qablihim min qarnin makkannāhum fī l-ˈarḍi mā lam numakkin lakum wa-ˈarsalnā s-samāˈa ʿalayhim midrāran wa-ǧaʿalnā l-ˈanhāra taǧrī min taḥtihim fa-ˈahlaknāhum bi-ḏunūbihim wa-ˈanšaˈnā min baʿdihim qarnan ˈāḫarīna
Have they not regarded how many a generation We have destroyed before them whom We had granted power in the land in respects that We did not grant you, and We sent abundant rains for them from the sky and made streams run for them? Then We destroyed them for their sins, and brought forth another generation after them.
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ كِتَـٰبًا فِى قِرْطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ لَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ
wa-law nazzalnā ʿalayka kitāban fī qirṭāsin fa-lamasūhu bi-ˈaydīhim la-qāla llaḏīna kafarū ˈin hāḏā ˈillā siḥrun mubīnun
Had We sent down to you a Book on paper so they could touch it with their [own] hands, [still] the faithless would have said, ‘This is nothing but plain magic.’
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ ۖ وَلَوْ أَنزَلْنَا مَلَكًا لَّقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنظَرُونَ
wa-qālū law-lā ˈunzila ʿalayhi malakun wa-law ˈanzalnā malakan la-quḍiya l-ˈamru ṯumma lā yunẓarūna
They say, ‘Why has not an angel been sent down to him?’ Were We to send down an angel, the matter would surely be decided, and then they would not be granted any respite.
وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ مَلَكًا لَّجَعَلْنَـٰهُ رَجُلًا وَلَلَبَسْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّا يَلْبِسُونَ
wa-law ǧaʿalnāhu malakan la-ǧaʿalnāhu raǧulan wa-la-labasnā ʿalayhim mā yalbisūna
Had We made him an angel, We would have surely made him a man, and We would have surely confounded them just as they confound [the truth now].
وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
wa-la-qadi stuhziˈa bi-rusulin min qablika fa-ḥāqa bi-llaḏīna saḫirū minhum mā kānū bihī yastahziˈūna
Apostles were certainly derided before you. Then those who ridiculed them were besieged by what they used to deride.
قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ ٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
qul sīrū fī l-ˈarḍi ṯumma nẓurū kayfa kāna ʿāqibatu l-mukaḏḏibīna
Say, ‘Travel over the land, and then observe how was the fate of the deniers.’
قُل لِّمَن مَّا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ قُل لِّلَّهِ ۚ كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۚ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
qul li-man mā fī s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi qul li-llāhi kataba ʿalā nafsihi r-raḥmata la-yaǧmaʿannakum ˈilā yawmi l-qiyāmati lā rayba fīhi llaḏīna ḫasirū ˈanfusahum fa-hum lā yuˈminūna
Say, ‘To whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth?’ Say, ‘To Allah. He has made mercy incumbent upon Himself. He will surely gather you on the Day of Resurrection, in which there is no doubt. Those who have ruined their souls will not have faith.’
وَلَهُۥ مَا سَكَنَ فِى ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
wa-lahū mā sakana fī l-layli wa-n-nahāri wa-huwa s-samīʿu l-ʿalīmu
To Him belongs whatever abides in the night and the day, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.
قُلْ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ أَتَّخِذُ وَلِيًّا فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ يُطْعِمُ وَلَا يُطْعَمُ ۗ قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ ۖ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
qul ˈa-ġayra llāhi ˈattaḫiḏu waliyyan fāṭiri s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-huwa yuṭʿimu wa-lā yuṭʿamu qul ˈinnī ˈumirtu ˈan ˈakūna ˈawwala man ˈaslama wa-lā takūnanna mina l-mušrikīna
Say, ‘Shall I take for guardian [anyone] other than Allah, the originator of the heavens and the earth, who feeds and is not fed?’ Say, ‘I have been commanded to be the first of those who submit [to Allah], and [told,] “Never be one of the polytheists.” ’
قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
qul ˈinnī ˈaḫāfu ˈin ʿaṣaytu rabbi ʿaḏāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin
Say, ‘Indeed, should I disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of a tremendous day.’
مَّن يُصْرَفْ عَنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمَهُۥ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
man yuṣraf ʿanhu yawmaˈiḏin fa-qad raḥimahū wa-ḏālika l-fawzu l-mubīnu
Whoever is spared of it on that day, He has certainly been merciful to him, and that is manifest success.
وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
wa-ˈin yamsaska llāhu bi-ḍurrin fa-lā kāšifa lahū ˈillā huwa wa-ˈin yamsaska bi-ḫayrin fa-huwa ʿalā kulli šayˈin qadīrun
Should Allah visit you with some distress there is no one to remove it except Him; and should He bring you some good, then He has power over all things.
وَهُوَ ٱلْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ
wa-huwa l-qāhiru fawqa ʿibādihī wa-huwa l-ḥakīmu l-ḫabīru
And He is the All-dominant over His servants, and He is the All-wise, the All-aware.
قُلْ أَىُّ شَىْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَـٰدَةً ۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ ۖ شَهِيدٌۢ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ وَأُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِۦ وَمَنۢ بَلَغَ ۚ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً أُخْرَىٰ ۚ قُل لَّآ أَشْهَدُ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ وَإِنَّنِى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ
qul ˈayyu šayˈin ˈakbaru šahādatan quli llāhu šahīdun baynī wa-baynakum wa-ˈūḥiya ˈilayya hāḏā l-qurˈānu li-ˈunḏirakum bihī wa-man balaġa ˈa-ˈinnakum la-tašhadūna ˈanna maʿa llāhi ˈālihatan ˈuḫrā qul lā ˈašhadu qul ˈinnamā huwa ˈilāhun wāḥidun wa-ˈinnanī barīˈun mimmā tušrikūna
Say, ‘What thing is greatest as witness?’ Say, ‘Allah! [He is] witness between me and you, and this Quran has been revealed to me that I may warn thereby you and whomever it may reach.’ ‘Do you indeed bear witness that there are other gods besides Allah?’ Say, ‘I do not bear witness [to any such thing].’ Say, ‘Indeed He is the One God, and I indeed disown what you associate [with Him].’
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَعْرِفُونَهُۥ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَآءَهُمُ ۘ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
allaḏīna ˈātaynāhumu l-kitāba yaʿrifūnahū ka-mā yaʿrifūna ˈabnāˈahumu allaḏīna ḫasirū ˈanfusahum fa-hum lā yuˈminūna
Those whom We have given the Book recognize him just as they recognize their sons. Those who have ruined their souls will not have faith.
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
wa-man ˈaẓlamu mimmani ftarā ʿalā llāhi kaḏiban ˈaw kaḏḏaba bi-ˈāyātihī ˈinnahū lā yufliḥu ẓ-ẓālimūna
Who is a greater wrongdoer than him who fabricates a lie against Allah, or denies His signs? Indeed the wrongdoers will not be felicitous.
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوٓا۟ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآؤُكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ
wa-yawma naḥšuruhum ǧamīʿan ṯumma naqūlu li-llaḏīna ˈašrakū ˈayna šurakāˈukumu llaḏīna kuntum tazʿumūna
On the day when We gather them all together, We shall say to those who ascribed partners [to Allah] ‘Where are your partners that you used to claim?’
ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُن فِتْنَتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ وَٱللَّهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشْرِكِينَ
ṯumma lam takun fitnatuhum ˈillā ˈan qālū wa-llāhi rabbinā mā kunnā mušrikīna
Then their only excuse will be to say, ‘By Allah, our Lord, we were not polytheists.’
ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
unẓur kayfa kaḏabū ʿalā ˈanfusihim wa-ḍalla ʿanhum mā kānū yaftarūna
Look, how they forswear themselves, and what they used to fabricate has forsaken them!
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا ۚ وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كُلَّ ءَايَةٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهَا ۚ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوكَ يُجَـٰدِلُونَكَ يَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
wa-minhum man yastamiʿu ˈilayka wa-ǧaʿalnā ʿalā qulūbihim ˈakinnatan ˈan yafqahūhu wa-fī ˈāḏānihim waqran wa-ˈin yaraw kulla ˈāyatin lā yuˈminū bihā ḥattā ˈiḏā ǧāˈūka yuǧādilūnaka yaqūlu llaḏīna kafarū ˈin hāḏā ˈillā ˈasāṭīru l-ˈawwalīna
There are some of them who prick up their ears at you, but We have cast veils on their hearts lest they should understand it, and a deafness into their ears; and though they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. When they come to you, to dispute with you, the faithless say, ‘These are nothing but myths of the ancients.’
وَهُمْ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ وَيَنْـَٔوْنَ عَنْهُ ۖ وَإِن يُهْلِكُونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ
wa-hum yanhawna ʿanhu wa-yanˈawna ʿanhu wa-ˈin yuhlikūna ˈillā ˈanfusahum wa-mā yašʿurūna
They dissuade [others] from [following] him, and [themselves] avoid him; yet they destroy no one except themselves, but they are not aware.
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰلَيْتَنَا نُرَدُّ وَلَا نُكَذِّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّنَا وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wa-law tarā ˈiḏ wuqifū ʿalā n-nāri fa-qālū yā-laytanā nuraddu wa-lā nukaḏḏiba bi-ˈāyāti rabbinā wa-nakūna mina l-muˈminīna
Were you to see when they are brought to a halt by the Fire, whereupon they will say, ‘If only we were sent back [into the world]! Then we will not deny the signs of our Lord, and we will be among the faithful!’
بَلْ بَدَا لَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُخْفُونَ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَوْ رُدُّوا۟ لَعَادُوا۟ لِمَا نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
bal badā lahum mā kānū yuḫfūna min qablu wa-law ruddū la-ʿādū li-mā nuhū ʿanhu wa-ˈinnahum la-kāḏibūna
Indeed, what they used to hide before has now become evident to them. But were they to be sent back they would revert to what they were forbidden, and they are indeed liars.
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ
wa-qālū ˈin hiya ˈillā ḥayātunā d-dunyā wa-mā naḥnu bi-mabʿūṯīna
They say, ‘There is nothing but our life of this world, and we shall not be resurrected.’
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ هَـٰذَا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَا ۚ قَالَ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
wa-law tarā ˈiḏ wuqifū ʿalā rabbihim qāla ˈa-laysa hāḏā bi-l-ḥaqqi qālū balā wa-rabbinā qāla fa-ḏūqū l-ʿaḏāba bi-mā kuntum takfurūna
Were you to see when they are brought to a halt before their Lord. He will say, ‘Is this not a fact?’ They will say, ‘Yes, by our Lord!’ He will say, ‘So taste the punishment because of what you used to deny.’
قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً قَالُوا۟ يَـٰحَسْرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِيهَا وَهُمْ يَحْمِلُونَ أَوْزَارَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمْ ۚ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ
qad ḫasira llaḏīna kaḏḏabū bi-liqāˈi llāhi ḥattā ˈiḏā ǧāˈathumu s-sāʿatu baġtatan qālū yā-ḥasratanā ʿalā mā farraṭnā fīhā wa-hum yaḥmilūna ˈawzārahum ʿalā ẓuhūrihim ˈa-lā sāˈa mā yazirūna
They are certainly losers who deny the encounter with Allah. When the Hour overtakes them suddenly, they will say, ‘Alas for us, for what we neglected in it!’ And they will bear their burdens on their backs. Look! Evil is what they bear!
وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ ۖ وَلَلدَّارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
wa-mā l-ḥayātu d-dunyā ˈillā laʿibun wa-lahwun wa-la-d-dāru l-ˈāḫiratu ḫayrun li-llaḏīna yattaqūna ˈa-fa-lā taʿqilūna
The life of the world is nothing but play and diversion, and the abode of the Hereafter is surely better for those who are Godwary. Do you not exercise your reason?
قَدْ نَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُۥ لَيَحْزُنُكَ ٱلَّذِى يَقُولُونَ ۖ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَا يُكَذِّبُونَكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ
qad naʿlamu ˈinnahū la-yaḥzunuka llaḏī yaqūlūna fa-ˈinnahum lā yukaḏḏibūnaka wa-lākinna ẓ-ẓālimīna bi-ˈāyāti llāhi yaǧḥadūna
We certainly know that what they say grieves you. Yet it is not you that they deny, but it is Allah’s signs that the wrongdoers impugn.
وَلَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَصَبَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا كُذِّبُوا۟ وَأُوذُوا۟ حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰهُمْ نَصْرُنَا ۚ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكَ مِن نَّبَإِى۟ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
wa-la-qad kuḏḏibat rusulun min qablika fa-ṣabarū ʿalā mā kuḏḏibū wa-ˈūḏū ḥattā ˈatāhum naṣrunā wa-lā mubaddila li-kalimāti llāhi wa-la-qad ǧāˈaka min nabaˈi l-mursalīna
Apostles were certainly denied before you, yet they patiently bore being denied and tormented until Our help came to them. Nothing can change the words of Allah, and there have certainly come to you some of the accounts of the apostles.
وَإِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكَ إِعْرَاضُهُمْ فَإِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتَ أَن تَبْتَغِىَ نَفَقًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ سُلَّمًا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَأْتِيَهُم بِـَٔايَةٍ ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَمَعَهُمْ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ ۚ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ
wa-ˈin kāna kabura ʿalayka ˈiʿrāḍuhum fa-ˈini staṭaʿta ˈan tabtaġiya nafaqan fī l-ˈarḍi ˈaw sullaman fī s-samāˈi fa-taˈtiyahum bi-ˈāyatin wa-law šāˈa llāhu la-ǧamaʿahum ʿalā l-hudā fa-lā takūnanna mina l-ǧāhilīna
And should their aversion be hard on you, find, if you can, a tunnel into the ground, or a ladder into sky, that you may bring them a sign. Had Allah wished, He would have brought them together on guidance. So do not be one of the ignorant.
إِنَّمَا يَسْتَجِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ ۘ وَٱلْمَوْتَىٰ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ
ˈinnamā yastaǧību llaḏīna yasmaʿūna wa-l-mawtā yabʿaṯuhumu llāhu ṯumma ˈilayhi yurǧaʿūna
Only those who listen will respond [to you]. As for the dead, Allah will resurrect them, then they will be brought back to Him.
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُنَزِّلَ ءَايَةً وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
wa-qālū law-lā nuzzila ʿalayhi ˈāyatun min rabbihī qul ˈinna llāha qādirun ʿalā ˈan yunazzila ˈāyatan wa-lākinna ˈakṯarahum lā yaʿlamūna
They say, ‘Why has not a sign been sent down to him from his Lord?’ Say, ‘Allah is indeed able to send down a sign,’ but most of them do not know.
وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَـٰٓئِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّآ أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم ۚ مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُونَ
wa-mā min dābbatin fī l-ˈarḍi wa-lā ṭāˈirin yaṭīru bi-ǧanāḥayhi ˈillā ˈumamun ˈamṯālukum mā farraṭnā fī l-kitābi min šayˈin ṯumma ˈilā rabbihim yuḥšarūna
There is no animal on land, nor a bird that flies with its wings, but they are communities like yourselves. We have not omitted anything from the Book. Then they will be mustered toward their Lord.
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا صُمٌّ وَبُكْمٌ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ ۗ مَن يَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ يُضْلِلْهُ وَمَن يَشَأْ يَجْعَلْهُ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
wa-llaḏīna kaḏḏabū bi-ˈāyātinā ṣummun wa-bukmun fī ẓ-ẓulumāti man yašaˈi llāhu yuḍlilhu wa-man yašaˈ yaǧʿalhu ʿalā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin
Those who deny Our signs are deaf and dumb, in a manifold darkness. Allah leads astray whomever He wishes, and whomever He wishes He puts him on a straight path.
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ أَتَتْكُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَدْعُونَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
qul ˈa-raˈaytakum ˈin ˈatākum ʿaḏābu llāhi ˈaw ˈatatkumu s-sāʿatu ˈa-ġayra llāhi tadʿūna ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna
Say, ‘Tell me, should Allah’s punishment overtake you, or should the Hour overtake you, will you supplicate anyone other than Allah, should you be truthful?
بَلْ إِيَّاهُ تَدْعُونَ فَيَكْشِفُ مَا تَدْعُونَ إِلَيْهِ إِن شَآءَ وَتَنسَوْنَ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ
bal ˈiyyāhu tadʿūna fa-yakšifu mā tadʿūna ˈilayhi ˈin šāˈa wa-tansawna mā tušrikūna
No, Him you will supplicate, and He will remove that for which you supplicated Him, if He wishes, and you will forget what you ascribe [to Him] as [His] partners.’
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
wa-la-qad ˈarsalnā ˈilā ˈumamin min qablika fa-ˈaḫaḏnāhum bi-l-baˈsāˈi wa-ḍ-ḍarrāˈi laʿallahum yataḍarraʿūna
We have certainly sent [apostles] to nations before you, then We seized them with stress and distress so that they might entreat [Us].
فَلَوْلَآ إِذْ جَآءَهُم بَأْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا۟ وَلَـٰكِن قَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
fa-law-lā ˈiḏ ǧāˈahum baˈsunā taḍarraʿū wa-lākin qasat qulūbuhum wa-zayyana lahumu š-šayṭānu mā kānū yaʿmalūna
Why did they not entreat when Our punishment overtook them! But their hearts had hardened, and Satan had made what they had been doing seem decorous to them.
فَلَمَّا نَسُوا۟ مَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَٰبَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَآ أُوتُوٓا۟ أَخَذْنَـٰهُم بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْلِسُونَ
fa-lammā nasū mā ḏukkirū bihī fataḥnā ʿalayhim ˈabwāba kulli šayˈin ḥattā ˈiḏā fariḥū bi-mā ˈūtū ˈaḫaḏnāhum baġtatan fa-ˈiḏā hum mublisūna
So when they forgot what they had been admonished of, We opened for them the gates of all [good] things. When they became proud of what they were given, We seized them suddenly, whereat, behold, they were despondent.
فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ۚ وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
fa-quṭiʿa dābiru l-qawmi llaḏīna ẓalamū wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāhi rabbi l-ʿālamīna
Thus the wrongdoing lot were rooted out, and all praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ سَمْعَكُمْ وَأَبْصَـٰرَكُمْ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُم مَّنْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِهِ ۗ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ ثُمَّ هُمْ يَصْدِفُونَ
qul ˈa-raˈaytum ˈin ˈaḫaḏa llāhu samʿakum wa-ˈabṣārakum wa-ḫatama ʿalā qulūbikum man ˈilāhun ġayru llāhi yaˈtīkum bihi nẓur kayfa nuṣarrifu l-ˈāyāti ṯumma hum yaṣdifūna
Say, ‘Tell me, should Allah take away your hearing and your sight and set a seal on your hearts, which god other than Allah can bring it [back] to you?’ Look, how We paraphrase the signs variously; nevertheless they turn away.
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ بَغْتَةً أَوْ جَهْرَةً هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
qul ˈa-raˈaytakum ˈin ˈatākum ʿaḏābu llāhi baġtatan ˈaw ǧahratan hal yuhlaku ˈillā l-qawmu ẓ-ẓālimūna
Say, ‘Tell me, should Allah’s punishment overtake you suddenly or visibly, will anyone be destroyed except the wrongdoing lot?’
وَمَا نُرْسِلُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ ۖ فَمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَأَصْلَحَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
wa-mā nursilu l-mursalīna ˈillā mubašširīna wa-munḏirīna fa-man ˈāmana wa-ˈaṣlaḥa fa-lā ḫawfun ʿalayhim wa-lā hum yaḥzanūna
We do not send the apostles except as bearers of good news and warners. As for those who are faithful and righteous, they will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا يَمَسُّهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ
wa-llaḏīna kaḏḏabū bi-ˈāyātinā yamassuhumu l-ʿaḏābu bi-mā kānū yafsuqūna
But as for those who deny Our signs, the punishment shall befall them because of the transgressions they used to commit.
قُل لَّآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ عِندِى خَزَآئِنُ ٱللَّهِ وَلَآ أَعْلَمُ ٱلْغَيْبَ وَلَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِنِّى مَلَكٌ ۖ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ ۚ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
qul lā ˈaqūlu lakum ʿindī ḫazāˈinu llāhi wa-lā ˈaʿlamu l-ġayba wa-lā ˈaqūlu lakum ˈinnī malakun ˈin ˈattabiʿu ˈillā mā yūḥā ˈilayya qul hal yastawī l-ˈaʿmā wa-l-baṣīru ˈa-fa-lā tatafakkarūna
Say, ‘I do not say to you that I possess the treasuries of Allah, nor do I know the Unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel. I follow only what is revealed to me.’ Say, ‘Are the blind one and the seer equal? So do you not reflect?’
وَأَنذِرْ بِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَن يُحْشَرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۙ لَيْسَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ وَلِىٌّ وَلَا شَفِيعٌ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ
wa-ˈanḏir bihi llaḏīna yaḫāfūna ˈan yuḥšarū ˈilā rabbihim laysa lahum min dūnihī waliyyun wa-lā šafīʿun laʿallahum yattaqūna
And warn by its means those who fear being mustered toward their Lord, besides whom they shall have neither any guardian nor any intercessor, so that they may be Godwary.
وَلَا تَطْرُدِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ وَٱلْعَشِىِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُۥ ۖ مَا عَلَيْكَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ وَمَا مِنْ حِسَابِكَ عَلَيْهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَتَطْرُدَهُمْ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
wa-lā taṭrudi llaḏīna yadʿūna rabbahum bi-l-ġadāti wa-l-ʿašiyyi yurīdūna waǧhahū mā ʿalayka min ḥisābihim min šayˈin wa-mā min ḥisābika ʿalayhim min šayˈin fa-taṭrudahum fa-takūna mina ẓ-ẓālimīna
Do not drive away those who supplicate their Lord morning and evening desiring His face. Neither are you accountable for them in any way, nor are they accountable for you in any way, so that you may drive them away and thus become one of the wrongdoers.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ فَتَنَّا بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لِّيَقُولُوٓا۟ أَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنۢ بَيْنِنَآ ۗ أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
wa-ka-ḏālika fatannā baʿḍahum bi-baʿḍin li-yaqūlū ˈa-hāˈulāˈi manna llāhu ʿalayhim min bayninā ˈa-laysa llāhu bi-ˈaʿlama bi-š-šākirīna
Thus do We test them by means of one another so that they should say, ‘Are these the ones whom Allah has favoured from among us?!’ Does not Allah know best the grateful?!
وَإِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَقُلْ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۖ أَنَّهُۥ مَنْ عَمِلَ مِنكُمْ سُوٓءًۢا بِجَهَـٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ تَابَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَنَّهُۥ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
wa-ˈiḏā ǧāˈaka llaḏīna yuˈminūna bi-ˈāyātinā fa-qul salāmun ʿalaykum kataba rabbukum ʿalā nafsihi r-raḥmata ˈannahū man ʿamila minkum sūˈan bi-ǧahālatin ṯumma tāba min baʿdihī wa-ˈaṣlaḥa fa-ˈannahū ġafūrun raḥīmun
When those who have faith in Our signs come to you, say, ‘Peace to you! Your Lord has made mercy incumbent upon Himself: whoever of you commits an evil [deed] out of ignorance and then repents after that and reforms, then He is indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful.’
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ وَلِتَسْتَبِينَ سَبِيلُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
wa-ka-ḏālika nufaṣṣilu l-ˈāyāti wa-li-tastabīna sabīlu l-muǧrimīna
Thus do We elaborate the signs, so that the way of the guilty may be exposed.
قُلْ إِنِّى نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُل لَّآ أَتَّبِعُ أَهْوَآءَكُمْ ۙ قَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
qul ˈinnī nuhītu ˈan ˈaʿbuda llaḏīna tadʿūna min dūni llāhi qul lā ˈattabiʿu ˈahwāˈakum qad ḍalaltu ˈiḏan wa-mā ˈana mina l-muhtadīna
Say, ‘I have been forbidden to worship those whom you invoke besides Allah.’ Say, ‘I do not follow your desires, for then I will have gone astray, and I will not be among the [rightly] guided.’
قُلْ إِنِّى عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّى وَكَذَّبْتُم بِهِۦ ۚ مَا عِندِى مَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنِ ٱلْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ۖ يَقُصُّ ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلْفَـٰصِلِينَ
qul ˈinnī ʿalā bayyinatin min rabbī wa-kaḏḏabtum bihī mā ʿindī mā tastaʿǧilūna bihī ˈini l-ḥukmu ˈillā li-llāhi yaquṣṣu l-ḥaqqa wa-huwa ḫayru l-fāṣilīna
Say, ‘Indeed I stand on a manifest proof from my Lord and you have denied it. What you seek to hasten is not up to me. Judgement belongs only to Allah; He expounds the truth and He is the best of judges.’
قُل لَّوْ أَنَّ عِندِى مَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِهِۦ لَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
qul law ˈanna ʿindī mā tastaʿǧilūna bihī la-quḍiya l-ˈamru baynī wa-baynakum wa-llāhu ˈaʿlamu bi-ẓ-ẓālimīna
Say, ‘If what you seek to hasten were with me, the matter would surely have been decided between you and me, and Allah knows best the wrongdoers.’
وَعِندَهُۥ مَفَاتِحُ ٱلْغَيْبِ لَا يَعْلَمُهَآ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۚ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةٍ فِى ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا رَطْبٍ وَلَا يَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ
wa-ʿindahū mafātiḥu l-ġaybi lā yaʿlamuhā ˈillā huwa wa-yaʿlamu mā fī l-barri wa-l-baḥri wa-mā tasquṭu min waraqatin ˈillā yaʿlamuhā wa-lā ḥabbatin fī ẓulumāti l-ˈarḍi wa-lā raṭbin wa-lā yābisin ˈillā fī kitābin mubīnin
With Him are the treasures of the Unseen; no one knows them except Him. He knows whatever there is in land and sea. No leaf falls without His knowing it, nor is there a grain in the darkness of the earth, nor anything fresh or withered but it is in a manifest Book.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم بِٱلَّيْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا جَرَحْتُم بِٱلنَّهَارِ ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُكُمْ فِيهِ لِيُقْضَىٰٓ أَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
wa-huwa llaḏī yatawaffākum bi-l-layli wa-yaʿlamu mā ǧaraḥtum bi-n-nahāri ṯumma yabʿaṯukum fīhi li-yuqḍā ˈaǧalun musamman ṯumma ˈilayhi marǧiʿukum ṯumma yunabbiˈukum bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna
It is He who takes your souls by night, and He knows what you do by day, then He reanimates you therein so that a specified term may be completed. Then to Him will be your return, whereat He will inform you concerning what you used to do.
وَهُوَ ٱلْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْكُمْ حَفَظَةً حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمْ لَا يُفَرِّطُونَ
wa-huwa l-qāhiru fawqa ʿibādihī wa-yursilu ʿalaykum ḥafaẓatan ḥattā ˈiḏā ǧāˈa ˈaḥadakumu l-mawtu tawaffathu rusulunā wa-hum lā yufarriṭūna
He is the All-dominant over His servants, and He sends guards to [protect] you. When death approaches anyone of you, Our messengers take him away and they do not neglect [their duty].
ثُمَّ رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوْلَىٰهُمُ ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ أَلَا لَهُ ٱلْحُكْمُ وَهُوَ أَسْرَعُ ٱلْحَـٰسِبِينَ
ṯumma ruddū ˈilā llāhi mawlāhumu l-ḥaqqi ˈa-lā lahu l-ḥukmu wa-huwa ˈasraʿu l-ḥāsibīna
Then they are returned to Allah, their real master. Look! All judgement belongs to Him, and He is the swiftest of reckoners.
قُلْ مَن يُنَجِّيكُم مِّن ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ تَدْعُونَهُۥ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً لَّئِنْ أَنجَىٰنَا مِنْ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ
qul man yunaǧǧīkum min ẓulumāti l-barri wa-l-baḥri tadʿūnahū taḍarruʿan wa-ḫufyatan la-ˈin ˈanǧānā min hāḏihī la-nakūnanna mina š-šākirīna
Say, ‘Who delivers you from the darkness of land and sea, [when] You invoke Him suppliantly and secretly: ‘‘If He delivers us from this, we will surely be among the grateful’’?’
قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُنَجِّيكُم مِّنْهَا وَمِن كُلِّ كَرْبٍ ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ
quli llāhu yunaǧǧīkum minhā wa-min kulli karbin ṯumma ˈantum tušrikūna
Say, ‘It is Allah who delivers you from them and from every agony, [but] then you ascribe partners [to Him].’
قُلْ هُوَ ٱلْقَادِرُ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ أَوْ مِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُم بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ ۗ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَفْقَهُونَ
qul huwa l-qādiru ʿalā ˈan yabʿaṯa ʿalaykum ʿaḏāban min fawqikum ˈaw min taḥti ˈarǧulikum ˈaw yalbisakum šiyaʿan wa-yuḏīqa baʿḍakum baˈsa baʿḍin-i nẓur kayfa nuṣarrifu l-ˈāyāti laʿallahum yafqahūna
Say, ‘He is able to send upon you a punishment from above you or from under your feet, or confound you as [hostile] factions, and make you taste one another’s violence.’ Look, how We paraphrase the signs variously so that they may understand!
وَكَذَّبَ بِهِۦ قَوْمُكَ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ ۚ قُل لَّسْتُ عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٍ
wa-kaḏḏaba bihī qawmuka wa-huwa l-ḥaqqu qul lastu ʿalaykum bi-wakīlin
Your people have denied it, though it is the truth. Say, ‘It is not my business to watch over you.’
لِّكُلِّ نَبَإٍ مُّسْتَقَرٌّ ۚ وَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
li-kulli nabaˈin mustaqarrun wa-sawfa taʿlamūna
For every prophecy there is a [preordained] setting, and soon you will know.
وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخُوضُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَـٰتِنَا فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُوا۟ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦ ۚ وَإِمَّا يُنسِيَنَّكَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ فَلَا تَقْعُدْ بَعْدَ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ مَعَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
wa-ˈiḏā raˈayta llaḏīna yaḫūḍūna fī ˈāyātinā fa-ˈaʿriḍ ʿanhum ḥattā yaḫūḍū fī ḥadīṯin ġayrihī wa-ˈimmā yunsiyannaka š-šayṭānu fa-lā taqʿud baʿda ḏ-ḏikrā maʿa l-qawmi ẓ-ẓālimīna
When you see those who gossip impiously about Our signs, avoid them until they engage in some other discourse; but if Satan makes you forget, then, after remembering, do not sit with the wrongdoing lot.
وَمَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ وَلَـٰكِن ذِكْرَىٰ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ
wa-mā ʿalā llaḏīna yattaqūna min ḥisābihim min šayˈin wa-lākin ḏikrā laʿallahum yattaqūna
Those who are Godwary are in no way accountable for them, but this is merely for admonition’s sake, so that they may beware.
وَذَرِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ دِينَهُمْ لَعِبًا وَلَهْوًا وَغَرَّتْهُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَذَكِّرْ بِهِۦٓ أَن تُبْسَلَ نَفْسٌۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِىٌّ وَلَا شَفِيعٌ وَإِن تَعْدِلْ كُلَّ عَدْلٍ لَّا يُؤْخَذْ مِنْهَآ ۗ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُبْسِلُوا۟ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ ۖ لَهُمْ شَرَابٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ وَعَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ
wa-ḏari llaḏīna ttaḫaḏū dīnahum laʿiban wa-lahwan wa-ġarrathumu l-ḥayātu d-dunyā wa-ḏakkir bihī ˈan tubsala nafsun bi-mā kasabat laysa lahā min dūni llāhi waliyyun wa-lā šafīʿun wa-ˈin taʿdil kulla ʿadlin lā yuˈḫaḏ minhā ˈulāˈika llaḏīna ˈubsilū bi-mā kasabū lahum šarābun min ḥamīmin wa-ʿaḏābun ˈalīmun bi-mā kānū yakfurūna
Leave alone those who take their religion for play and diversion and whom the life of this world has deceived, and admonish with it, lest any soul should perish because of what it has earned: It shall not have any guardian besides Allah, nor any intercessor; and though it should offer every kind of ransom, it shall not be accepted from it. They are the ones who perish because of what they have earned; they shall have boiling water for drink and a painful punishment because of what they used to defy.
قُلْ أَنَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُنَا وَلَا يَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَابِنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَىٰنَا ٱللَّهُ كَٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَهْوَتْهُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ حَيْرَانَ لَهُۥٓ أَصْحَـٰبٌ يَدْعُونَهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَى ٱئْتِنَا ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ هُوَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ ۖ وَأُمِرْنَا لِنُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
qul ˈa-nadʿū min dūni llāhi mā lā yanfaʿunā wa-lā yaḍurrunā wa-nuraddu ʿalā ˈaʿqābinā baʿda ˈiḏ hadānā llāhu ka-llaḏī stahwathu š-šayāṭīnu fī l-ˈarḍi ḥayrāna lahū ˈaṣḥābun yadʿūnahū ˈilā l-hudā ˈtinā qul ˈinna hudā llāhi huwa l-hudā wa-ˈumirnā li-nuslima li-rabbi l-ʿālamīna
Say, ‘Shall we invoke besides Allah that which can neither benefit us nor harm us, and turn back on our heels after Allah has guided us, like someone seduced by the devils and bewildered on the earth, who has companions that invite him to guidance, [saying,] ‘‘Come to us!’’?’ Say, ‘Indeed it is the guidance of Allah which is [true] guidance. And we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of all the worlds,
وَأَنْ أَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
wa-ˈan ˈaqīmū ṣ-ṣalāta wa-ttaqūhu wa-huwa llaḏī ˈilayhi tuḥšarūna
and that ‘‘Maintain the prayer and be wary of Him, and it is He toward whom you will be gathered.’’ ’
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ وَيَوْمَ يَقُولُ كُن فَيَكُونُ ۚ قَوْلُهُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۚ وَلَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ ۚ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ
wa-huwa llaḏī ḫalaqa s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍa bi-l-ḥaqqi wa-yawma yaqūlu kun fa-yakūnu qawluhu l-ḥaqqu wa-lahu l-mulku yawma yunfaḫu fī ṣ-ṣūri ʿālimu l-ġaybi wa-š-šahādati wa-huwa l-ḥakīmu l-ḫabīru
It is He who created the heavens and the earth with reason, and the day He says [to something], ‘Be!’ it is. His word is the truth, and to Him belongs all sovereignty on the day when the Trumpet will be blown. Knower of the sensible and the Unseen, He is the All-wise, the All-aware.
وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ ءَازَرَ أَتَتَّخِذُ أَصْنَامًا ءَالِهَةً ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰكَ وَقَوْمَكَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
wa-ˈiḏ qāla ˈibrāhīmu li-ˈabīhi ˈāzara ˈa-tattaḫiḏu ˈaṣnāman ˈālihatan ˈinnī ˈarāka wa-qawmaka fī ḍalālin mubīnin
When Abraham said to Azar, his father, ‘Do you take idols for gods? Indeed I see you and your people in manifest error.’
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُرِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ مَلَكُوتَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلِيَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُوقِنِينَ
wa-ka-ḏālika nurī ˈibrāhīma malakūta s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi wa-li-yakūna mina l-mūqinīna
Thus did We show Abraham the dominions of the heavens and the earth, that he might be of those who possess certitude.
فَلَمَّا جَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلَّيْلُ رَءَا كَوْكَبًا ۖ قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّى ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَآ أُحِبُّ ٱلْـَٔافِلِينَ
fa-lammā ǧanna ʿalayhi l-laylu raˈā kawkaban qāla hāḏā rabbī fa-lammā ˈafala qāla lā ˈuḥibbu l-ˈāfilīna
When night darkened over him, he saw a star and said, ‘This is my Lord!’ But when it set, he said, ‘I do not like those who set.’
فَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلْقَمَرَ بَازِغًا قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّى ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَئِن لَّمْ يَهْدِنِى رَبِّى لَأَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
fa-lammā raˈā l-qamara bāziġan qāla hāḏā rabbī fa-lammā ˈafala qāla la-ˈin lam yahdinī rabbī la-ˈakūnanna mina l-qawmi ḍ-ḍāllīna
Then, when he saw the moon rising, he said, ‘This is my Lord!’ But when it set, he said, ‘Had my Lord not guided me, I would surely have been among the astray lot.’
فَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلشَّمْسَ بَازِغَةً قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّى هَـٰذَآ أَكْبَرُ ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَتْ قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ
fa-lammā raˈā š-šamsa bāziġatan qāla hāḏā rabbī hāḏā ˈakbaru fa-lammā ˈafalat qāla yā-qawmi ˈinnī barīˈun mimmā tušrikūna
Then, when he saw the sun rising, he said, ‘This is my Lord! This is bigger!’ But when it set, he said, ‘O my people, indeed I disown what you take as [His] partners.’
إِنِّى وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِىَ لِلَّذِى فَطَرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا ۖ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
ˈinnī waǧǧahtu waǧhiya li-llaḏī faṭara s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍa ḥanīfan wa-mā ˈana mina l-mušrikīna
‘Indeed I have turned my face toward Him who originated the heavens and the earth, as a Hanif, and I am not one of the polytheists.’
وَحَآجَّهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ ۚ قَالَ أَتُحَـٰٓجُّوٓنِّى فِى ٱللَّهِ وَقَدْ هَدَىٰنِ ۚ وَلَآ أَخَافُ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ رَبِّى شَيْـًٔا ۗ وَسِعَ رَبِّى كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا ۗ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ
wa-ḥāǧǧahū qawmuhū qāla ˈa-tuḥāǧǧūnnī fī llāhi wa-qad hadāni wa-lā ˈaḫāfu mā tušrikūna bihī ˈillā ˈan yašāˈa rabbī šayˈan wasiʿa rabbī kulla šayˈin ʿilman ˈa-fa-lā tataḏakkarūna
His people argued with him. He said, ‘Do you argue with me concerning Allah, while He has guided me for certain? I do not fear what you ascribe to Him as [His] partners, excepting anything that my Lord may wish. My Lord embraces all things in [His] knowledge. Will you not then take admonition?
وَكَيْفَ أَخَافُ مَآ أَشْرَكْتُمْ وَلَا تَخَافُونَ أَنَّكُمْ أَشْرَكْتُم بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنًا ۚ فَأَىُّ ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ أَحَقُّ بِٱلْأَمْنِ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
wa-kayfa ˈaḫāfu mā ˈašraktum wa-lā taḫāfūna ˈannakum ˈašraktum bi-llāhi mā lam yunazzil bihī ʿalaykum sulṭānan fa-ˈayyu l-farīqayni ˈaḥaqqu bi-l-ˈamni ˈin kuntum taʿlamūna
How could I fear what you ascribe [to Him] as [His] partners, when you do not fear ascribing to Allah partners for which He has not sent down any authority to you? So [tell me,] which of the two sides has a greater right to safety, if you know?
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنَهُم بِظُلْمٍ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلْأَمْنُ وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ
allaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-lam yalbisū ˈīmānahum bi-ẓulmin ˈulāˈika lahumu l-ˈamnu wa-hum muhtadūna
Those who have faith and do not taint their faith with wrongdoing—for such there shall be safety, and they are the [rightly] guided.’
وَتِلْكَ حُجَّتُنَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ ۚ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَـٰتٍ مَّن نَّشَآءُ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
wa-tilka ḥuǧǧatunā ˈātaynāhā ˈibrāhīma ʿalā qawmihī narfaʿu daraǧātin man našāˈu ˈinna rabbaka ḥakīmun ʿalīmun
This was Our argument that We gave to Abraham against his people. We raise in rank whomever We wish. Indeed your Lord is all-wise, all-knowing.
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚ كُلًّا هَدَيْنَا ۚ وَنُوحًا هَدَيْنَا مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِۦ دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُوسُفَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
wa-wahabnā lahū ˈisḥāqa wa-yaʿqūba kullan hadaynā wa-nuḥan hadaynā min qablu wa-min ḏurriyyatihī dāwūda wa-sulaymāna wa-ˈayyūba wa-yūsufa wa-mūsā wa-hārūna wa-ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-muḥsinīna
And We gave him Isaac and Jacob and guided each of them. And Noah We had guided before, and from his offspring, David and Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses and Aaron—thus do We reward the virtuous—
وَزَكَرِيَّا وَيَحْيَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَإِلْيَاسَ ۖ كُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
wa-zakariyyā wa-yaḥyā wa-ʿīsā wa-ˈilyāsa kullun mina ṣ-ṣāliḥīna
and Zechariah, John, Jesus and Ilyas—each of them among the righteous—
وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَٱلْيَسَعَ وَيُونُسَ وَلُوطًا ۚ وَكُلًّا فَضَّلْنَا عَلَى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
wa-ˈismāʿīla wa-l-yasaʿa wa-yūnusa wa-lūṭan wa-kullan faḍḍalnā ʿalā l-ʿālamīna
and Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah and Lot—each We graced over all the nations—
وَمِنْ ءَابَآئِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْ وَإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ ۖ وَٱجْتَبَيْنَـٰهُمْ وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ
wa-min ˈābāˈihim wa-ḏurriyyātihim wa-ˈiḫwānihim wa-ǧtabaynāhum wa-hadaynāhum ˈilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin
and from among their fathers, their descendants and brethren—We chose them and guided them to a straight path.
ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
ḏālika hudā llāhi yahdī bihī man yašāˈu min ʿibādihī wa-law ˈašrakū la-ḥabiṭa ʿanhum mā kānū yaʿmalūna
That is Allah’s guidance: with it, He guides whomever He wishes of His servants. But were they to ascribe any partners [to Allah], what they used to do would not avail them.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلْحُكْمَ وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ ۚ فَإِن يَكْفُرْ بِهَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ فَقَدْ وَكَّلْنَا بِهَا قَوْمًا لَّيْسُوا۟ بِهَا بِكَـٰفِرِينَ
ˈulāˈika llaḏīna ˈātaynāhumu l-kitāba wa-l-ḥukma wa-n-nubuwwata fa-ˈin yakfur bihā hāˈulāˈi fa-qad wakkalnā bihā qawman laysū bihā bi-kāfirīna
They are the ones whom We gave the Book, judgement and prophethood. So if these disbelieve in them, We have certainly entrusted them to a people who will never disbelieve in them.
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَبِهُدَىٰهُمُ ٱقْتَدِهْ ۗ قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا ۖ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
ˈulāˈika llaḏīna hadā llāhu fa-bi-hudāhumu qtadih qul lā ˈasˈalukum ʿalayhi ˈaǧran ˈin huwa ˈillā ḏikrā li-l-ʿālamīna
They are the ones whom Allah has guided. So follow their guidance. Say, ‘I do not ask you any recompense for it. It is just an admonition for all the nations.’
وَمَا قَدَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِۦٓ إِذْ قَالُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ بَشَرٍ مِّن شَىْءٍ ۗ قُلْ مَنْ أَنزَلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلَّذِى جَآءَ بِهِۦ مُوسَىٰ نُورًا وَهُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ ۖ تَجْعَلُونَهُۥ قَرَاطِيسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَثِيرًا ۖ وَعُلِّمْتُم مَّا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنتُمْ وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ ۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ ۖ ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ فِى خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ
wa-mā qadarū llāha ḥaqqa qadrihī ˈiḏ qālū mā ˈanzala llāhu ʿalā bašarin min šayˈin qul man ˈanzala l-kitāba llaḏī ǧāˈa bihī mūsā nūran wa-hudan li-n-nāsi taǧʿalūnahū qarāṭīsa tubdūnahā wa-tuḫfūna kaṯīran wa-ʿullimtum mā lam taʿlamū ˈantum wa-lā ˈābāˈukum quli llāhu ṯumma ḏarhum fī ḫawḍihim yalʿabūna
They did not regard Allah with the regard due to Him when they said, ‘Allah has not sent down anything to any human.’ Say, ‘Who had sent down the Book that was brought by Moses as a light and guidance for the people, which you make into parchments that you display, while you conceal much of it, and [by means of which] you were taught what you did not know, [neither] you nor your fathers?’ Say, ‘Allah!’ Then leave them to play around in their impious gossip.
وَهَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ مُبَارَكٌ مُّصَدِّقُ ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلِتُنذِرَ أُمَّ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ ۖ وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
wa-hāḏā kitābun ˈanzalnāhu mubārakun muṣaddiqu llaḏī bayna yadayhi wa-li-tunḏira ˈumma l-qurā wa-man ḥawlahā wa-llaḏīna yuˈminūna bi-l-ˈāḫirati yuˈminūna bihī wa-hum ʿalā ṣalātihim yuḥāfiẓūna
Blessed is this Book, which We have sent down, confirming what was [revealed] before it, so that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are watchful of their prayers.
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ قَالَ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ وَلَمْ يُوحَ إِلَيْهِ شَىْءٌ وَمَن قَالَ سَأُنزِلُ مِثْلَ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ فِى غَمَرَٰتِ ٱلْمَوْتِ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ بَاسِطُوٓا۟ أَيْدِيهِمْ أَخْرِجُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمُ ۖ ٱلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ ٱلْهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ غَيْرَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَكُنتُمْ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
wa-man ˈaẓlamu mimmani ftarā ʿalā llāhi kaḏiban ˈaw qāla ˈūḥiya ˈilayya wa-lam yūḥa ˈilayhi šayˈun wa-man qāla sa-ˈunzilu miṯla mā ˈanzala llāhu wa-law tarā ˈiḏi ẓ-ẓālimūna fī ġamarāti l-mawti wa-l-malāˈikatu bāsiṭū ˈaydīhim ˈaḫriǧū ˈanfusakumu l-yawma tuǧzawna ʿaḏāba l-hūni bi-mā kuntum taqūlūna ʿalā llāhi ġayra l-ḥaqqi wa-kuntum ʿan ˈāyātihī tastakbirūna
Who is a greater wrongdoer than him who fabricates a lie against Allah, or says, ‘It has been revealed to me,’ while nothing was revealed to him, and he who says, ‘I will bring the like of what Allah has sent down?’ Were you to see when the wrongdoers are in the throes of death, and the angels extend their hands [saying]: ‘Give up your souls! Today you shall be requited with a humiliating punishment because of what you used to attribute to Allah untruly, and for your being disdainful towards His signs.’
وَلَقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا فُرَٰدَىٰ كَمَا خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَتَرَكْتُم مَّا خَوَّلْنَـٰكُمْ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِكُمْ ۖ وَمَا نَرَىٰ مَعَكُمْ شُفَعَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّهُمْ فِيكُمْ شُرَكَـٰٓؤُا۟ ۚ لَقَد تَّقَطَّعَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنكُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ
wa-la-qad ǧiˈtumūnā furādā ka-mā ḫalaqnākum ˈawwala marratin wa-taraktum mā ḫawwalnākum warāˈa ẓuhūrikum wa-mā narā maʿakum šufaʿāˈakumu llaḏīna zaʿamtum ˈannahum fīkum šurakāˈu la-qad taqaṭṭaʿa baynakum wa-ḍalla ʿankum mā kuntum tazʿumūna
‘Certainly you have come to Us alone, just as We created you the first time, and left behind whatever We had bestowed on you. We do not see your intercessors with you—those whom you claimed to be [Our] partners in [deciding] you[r] [fate]. Certainly all links between you have been cut, and what you used to claim has forsaken you!’
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ فَالِقُ ٱلْحَبِّ وَٱلنَّوَىٰ ۖ يُخْرِجُ ٱلْحَىَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَيِّتِ وَمُخْرِجُ ٱلْمَيِّتِ مِنَ ٱلْحَىِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ
ˈinna llāha fāliqu l-ḥabbi wa-n-nawā yuḫriǧu l-ḥayya mina l-mayyiti wa-muḫriǧu l-mayyiti mina l-ḥayyi ḏālikumu llāhu fa-ˈannā tuˈfakūna
Indeed Allah is the splitter of the grain and the pit. He brings forth the living from the dead and He brings forth the dead from the living. That is Allah! Then where do you stray?
فَالِقُ ٱلْإِصْبَاحِ وَجَعَلَ ٱلَّيْلَ سَكَنًا وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ حُسْبَانًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ
fāliqu l-ˈiṣbāḥi wa-ǧaʿala l-layla sakanan wa-š-šamsa wa-l-qamara ḥusbānan ḏālika taqdīru l-ʿazīzi l-ʿalīmi
Splitter of the dawn, He has made the night for rest, and the sun and the moon for calculation. That is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلنُّجُومَ لِتَهْتَدُوا۟ بِهَا فِى ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ
wa-huwa llaḏī ǧaʿala lakumu n-nuǧūma li-tahtadū bihā fī ẓulumāti l-barri wa-l-baḥri qad faṣṣalnā l-ˈāyāti li-qawmin yaʿlamūna
It is He who made the stars for you, so that you may be guided by them in the darkness of land and sea. We have certainly elaborated the signs for a people who have knowledge.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَٰحِدَةٍ فَمُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمُسْتَوْدَعٌ ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَفْقَهُونَ
wa-huwa llaḏī ˈanšaˈakum min nafsin wāḥidatin fa-mustaqarrun wa-mustawdaʿun qad faṣṣalnā l-ˈāyāti li-qawmin yafqahūna
It is He who created you from a single soul, then there is the [enduring] abode and the place of temporary lodging. We have certainly elaborated the signs for a people who understand.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ نَبَاتَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهُ خَضِرًا نُّخْرِجُ مِنْهُ حَبًّا مُّتَرَاكِبًا وَمِنَ ٱلنَّخْلِ مِن طَلْعِهَا قِنْوَانٌ دَانِيَةٌ وَجَنَّـٰتٍ مِّنْ أَعْنَابٍ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُشْتَبِهًا وَغَيْرَ مُتَشَـٰبِهٍ ۗ ٱنظُرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثْمَرَ وَيَنْعِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكُمْ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
wa-huwa llaḏī ˈanzala mina s-samāˈi māˈan fa-ˈaḫraǧnā bihī nabāta kulli šayˈin fa-ˈaḫraǧnā minhu ḫaḍiran nuḫriǧu minhu ḥabban mutarākiban wa-mina n-naḫli min talʿihā qinwānun dāniyatun wa-ǧannātin min ˈaʿnābin wa-z-zaytūna wa-r-rummāna muštabihan wa-ġayra mutašābihin-i nẓurū ˈilā ṯamarihī ˈiḏā ˈaṯmara wa-yanʿihī ˈinna fī ḏālikum la-ˈāyātin li-qawmin yuˈminūna
It is He who sends down water from the sky, and brings forth with it every kind of growing thing. Then from it We bring forth vegetation from which We produce the grain, in clusters, and from the palm-tree, from the spathes of it, low-hanging clusters [of dates], and gardens of grapes, olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Look at its fruit as it fructifies and ripens. Indeed, there are signs in that for a people who have faith.
وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ شُرَكَآءَ ٱلْجِنَّ وَخَلَقَهُمْ ۖ وَخَرَقُوا۟ لَهُۥ بَنِينَ وَبَنَـٰتٍۭ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
wa-ǧaʿalū li-llāhi šurakāˈa l-ǧinna wa-ḫalaqahum wa-ḫaraqū lahū banīna wa-banātin bi-ġayri ʿilmin subḥānahū wa-taʿālā ʿammā yaṣifūna
They make the jinn partners of Allah, though He has created them, and carve out sons and daughters for Him, without any knowledge. Immaculate is He and exalted above what they allege [concerning Him]!
بَدِيعُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ وَلَمْ تَكُن لَّهُۥ صَـٰحِبَةٌ ۖ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
badīʿu s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi ˈannā yakūnu lahū waladun wa-lam takun lahū ṣāḥibatun wa-ḫalaqa kulla šayˈin wa-huwa bi-kulli šayˈin ʿalīmun
The originator of the heavens and the earth—how could He have a child when He has had no spouse? He created all things and He has knowledge of all things.
ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ خَـٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَكِيلٌ
ḏālikumu llāhu rabbukum lā ˈilāha ˈillā huwa ḫāliqu kulli šayˈin fa-ʿbudūhu wa-huwa ʿalā kulli šayˈin wakīlun
That is Allah, your Lord, there is no god except Him, the creator of all things; so worship Him. He watches over all things.
لَّا تُدْرِكُهُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ
lā tudrikuhu l-ˈabṣāru wa-huwa yudriku l-ˈabṣāra wa-huwa l-laṭīfu l-ḫabīru
The sights do not apprehend Him, yet He apprehends the sights, and He is the All-attentive, the All-aware.
قَدْ جَآءَكُم بَصَآئِرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَمَنْ أَبْصَرَ فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَنْ عَمِىَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۚ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٍ
qad ǧāˈakum baṣāˈiru min rabbikum fa-man ˈabṣara fa-li-nafsihī wa-man ʿamiya fa-ʿalayhā wa-mā ˈana ʿalaykum bi-ḥafīẓin
[Say,] ‘Certainly insights have come to you from your Lord. So whoever sees, it is to the benefit of his own soul, and whoever remains blind, it is to its detriment, and I am not a keeper over you.’
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ وَلِيَقُولُوا۟ دَرَسْتَ وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُۥ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ
wa-ka-ḏālika nuṣarrifu l-ˈāyāti wa-li-yaqūlū darasta wa-li-nubayyinahū li-qawmin yaʿlamūna
Thus do We paraphrase the signs variously, lest they should say, ‘You have received instruction,’ and so that We may make it clear for a people who have knowledge.
ٱتَّبِعْ مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
ittabiʿ mā ˈūḥiya ˈilayka min rabbika lā ˈilāha ˈillā huwa wa-ˈaʿriḍ ʿani l-mušrikīna
Follow that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, there is no god except Him, and turn away from the polytheists.
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَآ أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۗ وَمَا جَعَلْنَـٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ
wa-law šāˈa llāhu mā ˈašrakū wa-mā ǧaʿalnāka ʿalayhim ḥafīẓan wa-mā ˈanta ʿalayhim bi-wakīlin
Had Allah wished they would not have ascribed partners [to Him]. We have not made you a caretaker for them, nor is it your duty to watch over them.
وَلَا تَسُبُّوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَسُبُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَدْوًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِم مَّرْجِعُهُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
wa-lā tasubbū llaḏīna yadʿūna min dūni llāhi fa-yasubbū llāha ʿadwan bi-ġayri ʿilmin ka-ḏālika zayyannā li-kulli ˈummatin ʿamalahum ṯumma ˈilā rabbihim marǧiʿuhum fa-yunabbiˈuhum bi-mā kānū yaʿmalūna
Do not abuse those whom they invoke besides Allah, lest they should abuse Allah out of hostility, without any knowledge. That is how to every people We have made their conduct seem decorous. Then their return will be to their Lord and He will inform them concerning what they used to do.
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَةٌ لَّيُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهَا ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَمَا يُشْعِرُكُمْ أَنَّهَآ إِذَا جَآءَتْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
wa-ˈaqsamū bi-llāhi ǧahda ˈaymānihim la-ˈin ǧāˈathum ˈāyatun la-yuˈminunna bihā qul ˈinnamā l-ˈāyātu ʿinda llāhi wa-mā yušʿirukum ˈannahā ˈiḏā ǧāˈat lā yuˈminūna
They swear by Allah with solemn oaths that were a sign to come to them they would surely believe in it. Say, ‘These signs are only from Allah,’ and what will bring home to you that they will not believe even if they came?
وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْ وَأَبْصَـٰرَهُمْ كَمَا لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَنَذَرُهُمْ فِى طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
wa-nuqallibu ˈafˈidatahum wa-ˈabṣārahum ka-mā lam yuˈminū bihī ˈawwala marratin wa-naḏaruhum fī ṭuġyānihim yaʿmahūna
We transform their hearts and their visions as they did not believe in it the first time, and We leave them bewildered in their rebellion.
وَلَوْ أَنَّنَا نَزَّلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَحَشَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ قُبُلًا مَّا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ
wa-law ˈannanā nazzalnā ˈilayhimu l-malāˈikata wa-kallamahumu l-mawtā wa-ḥašarnā ʿalayhim kulla šayˈin qubulan mā kānū li-yuˈminū ˈillā ˈan yašāˈa llāhu wa-lākinna ˈakṯarahum yaǧhalūna
Even if We had sent down angels to them, and the dead had spoken to them, and We had gathered before them all things manifestly, they would [still] not believe unless Allah wished. But most of them are ignorant.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِىٍّ عَدُوًّا شَيَـٰطِينَ ٱلْإِنسِ وَٱلْجِنِّ يُوحِى بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ زُخْرُفَ ٱلْقَوْلِ غُرُورًا ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ مَا فَعَلُوهُ ۖ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ
wa-ka-ḏālika ǧaʿalnā li-kulli nabiyyin ʿaduwwan šayāṭīna l-ˈinsi wa-l-ǧinni yūḥī baʿḍuhum ˈilā baʿḍin zuḫrufa l-qawli ġurūran wa-law šāˈa rabbuka mā faʿalūhu fa-ḏarhum wa-mā yaftarūna
That is how for every prophet We appointed as enemy the devils from among humans and jinn, who inspire each other with flashy words, deceptively. Had your Lord wished, they would not have done it. So leave them with what they fabricate,
وَلِتَصْغَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ أَفْـِٔدَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا۟ مَا هُم مُّقْتَرِفُونَ
wa-li-taṣġā ˈilayhi ˈafˈidatu llaḏīna lā yuˈminūna bi-l-ˈāḫirati wa-li-yarḍawhu wa-li-yaqtarifū mā hum muqtarifūna
so that toward it may incline the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter, and so that they may be pleased with it and commit what they commit.
أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ أَبْتَغِى حَكَمًا وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مُفَصَّلًا ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُۥ مُنَزَّلٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ
ˈa-fa-ġayra llāhi ˈabtaġī ḥakaman wa-huwa llaḏī ˈanzala ˈilaykumu l-kitāba mufaṣṣalan wa-llaḏīna ˈātaynāhumu l-kitāba yaʿlamūna ˈannahū munazzalun min rabbika bi-l-ḥaqqi fa-lā takūnanna mina l-mumtarīna
[Say,] ‘Shall I seek a judge other than Allah, while it is He who has sent down to you the Book, well-elaborated?’ Those whom We have given the Book know that it has been sent down from your Lord with the truth; so do not be one of the skeptics.
وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقًا وَعَدْلًا ۚ لَّا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
wa-tammat kalimatu rabbika ṣidqan wa-ʿadlan lā mubaddila li-kalimātihī wa-huwa s-samīʿu l-ʿalīmu
The word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and justice. Nothing can change His words, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.
وَإِن تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ
wa-ˈin tuṭiʿ ˈakṯara man fī l-ˈarḍi yuḍillūka ʿan sabīli llāhi ˈin yattabiʿūna ˈillā ẓ-ẓanna wa-ˈin hum ˈillā yaḫruṣūna
If you obey most of those on the earth, they will lead you astray from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjectures and they do nothing but surmise.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ مَن يَضِلُّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
ˈinna rabbaka huwa ˈaʿlamu man yaḍillu ʿan sabīlihī wa-huwa ˈaʿlamu bi-l-muhtadīna
Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way; and He knows best those who are guided.
فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ ٱسْمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِن كُنتُم بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ
fa-kulū mimmā ḏukira smu llāhi ʿalayhi ˈin kuntum bi-ˈāyātihī muˈminīna
Eat from that over which Allah’s Name has been mentioned, if you are believers in His signs.
وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ ٱسْمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُم مَّا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا مَا ٱضْطُرِرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا لَّيُضِلُّونَ بِأَهْوَآئِهِم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ
wa-mā lakum ˈallā taˈkulū mimmā ḏukira smu llāhi ʿalayhi wa-qad faṣṣala lakum mā ḥarrama ʿalaykum ˈillā mā ḍṭurirtum ˈilayhi wa-ˈinna kaṯīran la-yuḍillūna bi-ˈahwāˈihim bi-ġayri ʿilmin ˈinna rabbaka huwa ˈaʿlamu bi-l-muʿtadīna
Why should you not eat that over which Allah’s Name has been mentioned, while He has already elaborated for you whatever He has forbidden you, excepting what you may be compelled to [eat in an emergency]? Indeed many mislead [others] by their fancies, without any knowledge. Indeed your Lord knows best the transgressors.
وَذَرُوا۟ ظَـٰهِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَبَاطِنَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْسِبُونَ ٱلْإِثْمَ سَيُجْزَوْنَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَقْتَرِفُونَ
wa-ḏarū ẓāhira l-ˈiṯmi wa-bāṭinahū ˈinna llaḏīna yaksibūna l-ˈiṯma sa-yuǧzawna bi-mā kānū yaqtarifūna
Renounce outward sins and the inward ones. Indeed those who commit sins shall be requited for what they used to commit.
وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ ٱسْمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِسْقٌ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ لَيُوحُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآئِهِمْ لِيُجَـٰدِلُوكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ إِنَّكُمْ لَمُشْرِكُونَ
wa-lā taˈkulū mimmā lam yuḏkari smu llāhi ʿalayhi wa-ˈinnahū la-fisqun wa-ˈinna š-šayāṭīna la-yūḥūna ˈilā ˈawliyāˈihim li-yuǧādilūkum wa-ˈin ˈaṭaʿtumūhum ˈinnakum la-mušrikūna
Do not eat [anything] of that over which Allah’s Name has not been mentioned, and that is indeed transgression. Indeed the satans inspire their friends to dispute with you; and if you obey them, you will indeed be polytheists.
أَوَمَن كَانَ مَيْتًا فَأَحْيَيْنَـٰهُ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُۥ نُورًا يَمْشِى بِهِۦ فِى ٱلنَّاسِ كَمَن مَّثَلُهُۥ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ لَيْسَ بِخَارِجٍ مِّنْهَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
ˈa-wa-man kāna maytan fa-ˈaḥyaynāhu wa-ǧaʿalnā lahū nūran yamšī bihī fī n-nāsi ka-man maṯaluhū fī ẓ-ẓulumāti laysa bi-ḫāriǧin minhā ka-ḏālika zuyyina li-l-kāfirīna mā kānū yaʿmalūna
Is he who was lifeless, then We gave him life and provided him with a light by which he walks among the people, like one who dwells in a manifold darkness which he cannot leave? To the faithless is thus presented as decorous what they have been doing.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا فِى كُلِّ قَرْيَةٍ أَكَـٰبِرَ مُجْرِمِيهَا لِيَمْكُرُوا۟ فِيهَا ۖ وَمَا يَمْكُرُونَ إِلَّا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ
wa-ka-ḏālika ǧaʿalnā fī kulli qaryatin ˈakābira muǧrimīhā li-yamkurū fīhā wa-mā yamkurūna ˈillā bi-ˈanfusihim wa-mā yašʿurūna
Thus have We installed in every town its major criminals that they may plot therein. Yet they do not plot except against their own souls, but they are not aware.
وَإِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَةٌ قَالُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ حَتَّىٰ نُؤْتَىٰ مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ رُسُلُ ٱللَّهِ ۘ ٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ حَيْثُ يَجْعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُۥ ۗ سَيُصِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ صَغَارٌ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَمْكُرُونَ
wa-ˈiḏā ǧāˈathum ˈāyatun qālū lan nuˈmina ḥattā nuˈtā miṯla mā ˈūtiya rusulu llāhi allāhu ˈaʿlamu ḥayṯu yaǧʿalu risālatahū sa-yuṣību llaḏīna ˈaǧramū ṣaġārun ʿinda llāhi wa-ʿaḏābun šadīdun bi-mā kānū yamkurūna
When a sign comes to them, they say, ‘We will not believe until we are given the like of what was given to Allah’s apostles.’ Allah knows best where to place His apostleship! Soon the guilty will be visited by a degradation and severe punishment from Allah because of the plots they used to devise.
فَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن يَهْدِيَهُۥ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَـٰمِ ۖ وَمَن يُرِدْ أَن يُضِلَّهُۥ يَجْعَلْ صَدْرَهُۥ ضَيِّقًا حَرَجًا كَأَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْعَلُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّجْسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
fa-man yuridi llāhu ˈan yahdiyahū yašraḥ ṣadrahū li-l-ˈislāmi wa-man yurid ˈan yuḍillahū yaǧʿal ṣadrahū ḍayyiqan ḥaraǧan ka-ˈannamā yaṣṣaʿʿadu fī s-samāˈi ka-ḏālika yaǧʿalu llāhu r-riǧsa ʿalā llaḏīna lā yuˈminūna
Whomever Allah desires to guide, He opens his breast to Islam, and whomever He desires to lead astray, He makes his breast narrow and straitened as if he were climbing to a height. Thus does Allah lay [spiritual] defilement on those who do not have faith.
وَهَـٰذَا صِرَٰطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
wa-hāḏā ṣirāṭu rabbika mustaqīman qad faṣṣalnā l-ˈāyāti li-qawmin yaḏḏakkarūna
This is the straight path of your Lord. We have already elaborated the signs for a people who take admonition.
لَهُمْ دَارُ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
lahum dāru s-salāmi ʿinda rabbihim wa-huwa waliyyuhum bi-mā kānū yaʿmalūna
For them shall be the abode of peace near their Lord and He will be their guardian because of what they used to do.
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ قَدِ ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ ۖ وَقَالَ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ رَبَّنَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ وَبَلَغْنَآ أَجَلَنَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَجَّلْتَ لَنَا ۚ قَالَ ٱلنَّارُ مَثْوَىٰكُمْ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
wa-yawma yaḥšuruhum ǧamīʿan yā-maʿšara l-ǧinni qadi stakṯartum mina l-ˈinsi wa-qāla ˈawliyāˈuhum mina l-ˈinsi rabbanā stamtaʿa baʿḍunā bi-baʿḍin wa-balaġnā ˈaǧalanā llaḏī ˈaǧǧalta lanā qāla n-nāru maṯwākum ḫālidīna fīhā ˈillā mā šāˈa llāhu ˈinna rabbaka ḥakīmun ʿalīmun
On the day He will gather them all together, [He will say], ‘O company of jinn! You claimed many of the humans.’ Their friends from among the humans will say, ‘Our Lord, we used each other, and we completed our term which You had appointed for us.’ He will say, ‘The Fire is your abode, to remain in it [forever], except what Allah may wish.’ Indeed your Lord is all-wise, all-knowing.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُوَلِّى بَعْضَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ بَعْضًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
wa-ka-ḏālika nuwallī baʿḍa ẓ-ẓālimīna baʿḍan bi-mā kānū yaksibūna
That is how We make the wrongdoers one another’s friends because of what they used to earn.
يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّنكُمْ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِى وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَـٰذَا ۚ قَالُوا۟ شَهِدْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِنَا ۖ وَغَرَّتْهُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَشَهِدُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَـٰفِرِينَ
yā-maʿšara l-ǧinni wa-l-ˈinsi ˈa-lam yaˈtikum rusulun minkum yaquṣṣūna ʿalaykum ˈāyātī wa-yunḏirūnakum liqāˈa yawmikum hāḏā qālū šahidnā ʿalā ˈanfusinā wa-ġarrathumu l-ḥayātu d-dunyā wa-šahidū ʿalā ˈanfusihim ˈannahum kānū kāfirīna
‘O company of jinn and humans! Did there not come to you apostles from yourselves, recounting to you My signs and warning you of the encounter of this Day?’ They will say, ‘We testify against ourselves.’ The life of this world had deceived them, and they will testify against themselves that they had been faithless.
ذَٰلِكَ أَن لَّمْ يَكُن رَّبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا غَـٰفِلُونَ
ḏālika ˈan lam yakun rabbuka muhlika l-qurā bi-ẓulmin wa-ˈahluhā ġāfilūna
This is because your Lord would never destroy the towns unjustly while their people were unaware.
وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَـٰتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا۟ ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ
wa-li-kullin daraǧātun mimmā ʿamilū wa-mā rabbuka bi-ġāfilin ʿammā yaʿmalūna
For everyone there are ranks in accordance with what they have done; and your Lord is not oblivious of what they do.
وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ذُو ٱلرَّحْمَةِ ۚ إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفْ مِنۢ بَعْدِكُم مَّا يَشَآءُ كَمَآ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن ذُرِّيَّةِ قَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ
wa-rabbuka l-ġaniyyu ḏū r-raḥmati ˈin yašaˈ yuḏhibkum wa-yastaḫlif min baʿdikum mā yašāˈu ka-mā ˈanšaˈakum min ḏurriyyati qawmin ˈāḫarīna
Your Lord is the All-sufficient dispenser of mercy. If He wishes, He will take you away, and make whomever He wishes succeed you, just as He produced you from the descendants of another people.
إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لَـَٔاتٍ ۖ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ
ˈinna mā tūʿadūna la-ˈātin wa-mā ˈantum bi-muʿǧizīna
Indeed what you are promised will surely come, and you will not be able to thwart it.
قُلْ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّى عَامِلٌ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَن تَكُونُ لَهُۥ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلدَّارِ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
qul yā-qawmi ʿmalū ʿalā makānatikum ˈinnī ʿāmilun fa-sawfa taʿlamūna man takūnu lahū ʿāqibatu d-dāri ˈinnahū lā yufliḥu ẓ-ẓālimūna
Say, ‘O my people, act according to your ability; I too am acting. Soon you will know in whose favour the outcome of that abode will be. Indeed the wrongdoers will not be felicitous.’
وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ مِمَّا ذَرَأَ مِنَ ٱلْحَرْثِ وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ نَصِيبًا فَقَالُوا۟ هَـٰذَا لِلَّهِ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَهَـٰذَا لِشُرَكَآئِنَا ۖ فَمَا كَانَ لِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ فَلَا يَصِلُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ فَهُوَ يَصِلُ إِلَىٰ شُرَكَآئِهِمْ ۗ سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ
wa-ǧaʿalū li-llāhi mimmā ḏaraˈa mina l-ḥarṯi wa-l-ˈanʿāmi naṣīban fa-qālū hāḏā li-llāhi bi-zaʿmihim wa-hāḏā li-šurakāˈinā fa-mā kāna li-šurakāˈihim fa-lā yaṣilu ˈilā llāhi wa-mā kāna li-llāhi fa-huwa yaṣilu ˈilā šurakāˈihim sāˈa mā yaḥkumūna
They dedicate a portion to Allah out of what He has created of the crops and cattle, and say, ‘This is for Allah,’ so do they maintain, ‘and this is for our partners.’ But what is for their partners does not reach Allah, and what is for Allah reaches their partners. Evil is the judgement that they make.
وَكَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَثِيرٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ قَتْلَ أَوْلَـٰدِهِمْ شُرَكَآؤُهُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ دِينَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُ ۖ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ
wa-ka-ḏālika zayyana li-kaṯīrin mina l-mušrikīna qatla ˈawlādihim šurakāˈuhum li-yurdūhum wa-li-yalbisū ʿalayhim dīnahum wa-law šāˈa llāhu mā faʿalūhu fa-ḏarhum wa-mā yaftarūna
That is how to most of the polytheists the slaying of their children is presented as decorous by those whom they ascribe as partners [to Allah], that they may ruin them and confound their religion for them. Had Allah wished, they would not have done it. So leave them with what they fabricate.
وَقَالُوا۟ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أَنْعَـٰمٌ وَحَرْثٌ حِجْرٌ لَّا يَطْعَمُهَآ إِلَّا مَن نَّشَآءُ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ حُرِّمَتْ ظُهُورُهَا وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ لَّا يَذْكُرُونَ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَيْهِ ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
wa-qālū hāḏihī ˈanʿāmun wa-ḥarṯun ḥiǧrun lā yaṭʿamuhā ˈillā man našāˈu bi-zaʿmihim wa-ˈanʿāmun ḥurrimat ẓuhūruhā wa-ˈanʿāmun lā yaḏkurūna sma llāhi ʿalayhā ftirāˈan ʿalayhi sa-yaǧzīhim bi-mā kānū yaftarūna
And they say, ‘These cattle and tillage are a taboo: none may eat them except whom we please,’ so they maintain, and there are cattle whose backs are forbidden and cattle over which they do not mention Allah’s Name, fabricating a lie against Him. Soon He will requite them for what they used to fabricate.
وَقَالُوا۟ مَا فِى بُطُونِ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ خَالِصَةٌ لِّذُكُورِنَا وَمُحَرَّمٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِنَا ۖ وَإِن يَكُن مَّيْتَةً فَهُمْ فِيهِ شُرَكَآءُ ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِمْ وَصْفَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
wa-qālū mā fī buṭūni hāḏihi l-ˈanʿāmi ḫāliṣatun li-ḏukūrinā wa-muḥarramun ʿalā ˈazwāǧinā wa-ˈin yakun maytatan fa-hum fīhi šurakāˈu sa-yaǧzīhim waṣfahum ˈinnahū ḥakīmun ʿalīmun
And they say, ‘That which is in the bellies of these cattle is exclusively for our males and forbidden to our wives. But if it be still-born, they will all share it.’ Soon He will requite them for their allegations. Indeed, He is all-wise, all-knowing.
قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَتَلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَـٰدَهُمْ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَحَرَّمُوا۟ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ
qad ḫasira llaḏīna qatalū ˈawlādahum safahan bi-ġayri ʿilmin wa-ḥarramū mā razaqahumu llāhu ftirāˈan ʿalā llāhi qad ḍallū wa-mā kānū muhtadīna
They are certainly losers who slay their children foolishly without knowledge, and forbid what Allah has provided them, fabricating a lie against Allah. Certainly, they have gone astray and are not guided.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَ جَنَّـٰتٍ مَّعْرُوشَـٰتٍ وَغَيْرَ مَعْرُوشَـٰتٍ وَٱلنَّخْلَ وَٱلزَّرْعَ مُخْتَلِفًا أُكُلُهُۥ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُتَشَـٰبِهًا وَغَيْرَ مُتَشَـٰبِهٍ ۚ كُلُوا۟ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦٓ إِذَآ أَثْمَرَ وَءَاتُوا۟ حَقَّهُۥ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِۦ ۖ وَلَا تُسْرِفُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
wa-huwa llaḏī ˈanšaˈa ǧannātin maʿrūšātin wa-ġayra maʿrūšātin wa-n-naḫla wa-z-zarʿa muḫtalifan ˈukuluhū wa-z-zaytūna wa-r-rummāna mutašābihan wa-ġayra mutašābihin kulū min ṯamarihī ˈiḏā ˈaṯmara wa-ˈātū ḥaqqahū yawma ḥaṣādihī wa-lā tusrifū ˈinnahū lā yuḥibbu l-musrifīna
It is He who produces gardens trellised and without trellises, and palm-trees and crops of diverse produce, olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of its fruits when it fructifies, and give its due on the day of harvest, and do not be wasteful; indeed, He does not like the wasteful.
وَمِنَ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ حَمُولَةً وَفَرْشًا ۚ كُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ خُطُوَٰتِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
wa-mina l-ˈanʿāmi ḥamūlatan wa-faršan kulū mimmā razaqakumu llāhu wa-lā tattabiʿū ḫuṭuwāti š-šayṭāni ˈinnahū lakum ʿaduwwun mubīnun
Of the cattle [some] are for burden and [some] for slaughter. Eat of what Allah has provided you and do not follow in Satan’s footsteps; he is indeed your manifest enemy.
ثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَزْوَٰجٍ ۖ مِّنَ ٱلضَّأْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ ٱلْمَعْزِ ٱثْنَيْنِ ۗ قُلْ ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ أَمَّا ٱشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْحَامُ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ نَبِّـُٔونِى بِعِلْمٍ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
ṯamāniyata ˈazwāǧin mina ḍ-ḍaˈni ṯnayni wa-mina l-maʿzi ṯnayni qul ˈāḏ-ḏakarayni ḥarrama ˈami l-ˈunṯayayni ˈammā štamalat ʿalayhi ˈarḥāmu l-ˈunṯayayni nabbiˈūnī bi-ʿilmin ˈin kuntum ṣādiqīna
Eight mates: two of sheep, and two of goats. Say, ‘Is it the two males that He has forbidden or the two females, or what is contained in the wombs of the two females? Inform me with knowledge, should you be truthful.’
وَمِنَ ٱلْإِبِلِ ٱثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ ٱلْبَقَرِ ٱثْنَيْنِ ۗ قُلْ ءَآلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ أَمَّا ٱشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْحَامُ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ أَمْ كُنتُمْ شُهَدَآءَ إِذْ وَصَّىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَا ۚ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا لِّيُضِلَّ ٱلنَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
wa-mina l-ˈibili ṯnayni wa-mina l-baqari ṯnayni qul ˈāḏ-ḏakarayni ḥarrama ˈami l-ˈunṯayayni ˈammā štamalat ʿalayhi ˈarḥāmu l-ˈunṯayayni ˈam kuntum šuhadāˈa ˈiḏ waṣṣākumu llāhu bi-hāḏā fa-man ˈaẓlamu mimmani ftarā ʿalā llāhi kaḏiban li-yuḍilla n-nāsa bi-ġayri ʿilmin ˈinna llāha lā yahdī l-qawma ẓ-ẓālimīna
And two of camels and two of oxen. Say, ‘Is it the two males that He has forbidden or the two females, or what is contained in the wombs of the two females? Were you witnesses when Allah enjoined this upon you?’ So who is a greater wrongdoer than him who fabricates a lie against Allah to mislead the people without any knowledge? Indeed Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot.
قُل لَّآ أَجِدُ فِى مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَىٰ طَاعِمٍ يَطْعَمُهُۥٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَكُونَ مَيْتَةً أَوْ دَمًا مَّسْفُوحًا أَوْ لَحْمَ خِنزِيرٍ فَإِنَّهُۥ رِجْسٌ أَوْ فِسْقًا أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ ۚ فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
qul lā ˈaǧidu fī mā ˈūḥiya ˈilayya muḥarraman ʿalā ṭāʿimin yaṭʿamuhū ˈillā ˈan yakūna maytatan ˈaw daman masfūḥan ˈaw laḥma ḫinzīrin fa-ˈinnahū riǧsun ˈaw fisqan ˈuhilla li-ġayri llāhi bihī fa-mani ḍṭurra ġayra bāġin wa-lā ʿādin fa-ˈinna rabbaka ġafūrun raḥīmun
Say, ‘I do not find in what has been revealed to me that anyone be forbidden to eat anything except carrion or spilt blood, or the flesh of swine—for that is indeed unclean—or an impiety offered to other than Allah.’ But should someone be compelled, without being rebellious or aggressive, indeed your Lord is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا كُلَّ ذِى ظُفُرٍ ۖ وَمِنَ ٱلْبَقَرِ وَٱلْغَنَمِ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ شُحُومَهُمَآ إِلَّا مَا حَمَلَتْ ظُهُورُهُمَآ أَوِ ٱلْحَوَايَآ أَوْ مَا ٱخْتَلَطَ بِعَظْمٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ جَزَيْنَـٰهُم بِبَغْيِهِمْ ۖ وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ
wa-ʿalā llaḏīna hādū ḥarramnā kulla ḏī ẓufurin wa-mina l-baqari wa-l-ġanami ḥarramnā ʿalayhim šuḥūmahumā ˈillā mā ḥamalat ẓuhūruhumā ˈawi l-ḥawāyā ˈaw mā ḫtalaṭa bi-ʿaẓmin ḏālika ǧazaynāhum bi-baġyihim wa-ˈinnā la-ṣādiqūna
To the Jews We forbade every animal having an undivided hoof, and of oxen and sheep We forbade them their fat, except what is borne by their backs or the entrails, or what is attached to the bones. We requited them with that for their rebelliousness, and We indeed speak the truth.
فَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل رَّبُّكُمْ ذُو رَحْمَةٍ وَٰسِعَةٍ وَلَا يُرَدُّ بَأْسُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
fa-ˈin kaḏḏabūka fa-qul rabbukum ḏū raḥmatin wāsiʿatin wa-lā yuraddu baˈsuhū ʿani l-qawmi l-muǧrimīna
But if they deny you, say, ‘Your Lord is dispenser of an all-embracing mercy, but His punishment will not be averted from the guilty lot.’
سَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَآ أَشْرَكْنَا وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ ذَاقُوا۟ بَأْسَنَا ۗ قُلْ هَلْ عِندَكُم مِّنْ عِلْمٍ فَتُخْرِجُوهُ لَنَآ ۖ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا تَخْرُصُونَ
sa-yaqūlu llaḏīna ˈašrakū law šāˈa llāhu mā ˈašraknā wa-lā ˈābāˈunā wa-lā ḥarramnā min šayˈin ka-ḏālika kaḏḏaba llaḏīna min qablihim ḥattā ḏāqū baˈsanā qul hal ʿindakum min ʿilmin fa-tuḫriǧūhu lanā ˈin tattabiʿūna ˈillā ẓ-ẓanna wa-ˈin ˈantum ˈillā taḫruṣūna
The polytheists will say, ‘Had Allah wished we would not have ascribed any partner [to Him], nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything.’ Those who were before them had denied likewise until they tasted Our punishment. Say, ‘Do you have any [revealed] knowledge that you can produce before us? You follow nothing but conjectures, and you do nothing but surmise.’
قُلْ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْحُجَّةُ ٱلْبَـٰلِغَةُ ۖ فَلَوْ شَآءَ لَهَدَىٰكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
qul fa-li-llāhi l-ḥuǧǧatu l-bāliġatu fa-law šāˈa la-hadākum ˈaǧmaʿīna
Say, ‘To Allah belongs the conclusive argument. Had He wished, He would have surely guided you all.’
قُلْ هَلُمَّ شُهَدَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَرَّمَ هَـٰذَا ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَلَا تَشْهَدْ مَعَهُمْ ۚ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَهُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ
qul halumma šuhadāˈakumu llaḏīna yašhadūna ˈanna llāha ḥarrama hāḏā fa-ˈin šahidū fa-lā tašhad maʿahum wa-lā tattabiʿ ˈahwāˈa llaḏīna kaḏḏabū bi-ˈāyātinā wa-llaḏīna lā yuˈminūna bi-l-ˈāḫirati wa-hum bi-rabbihim yaʿdilūna
Say, ‘Bring your witnesses who may testify that Allah has forbidden this.’ So if they testify, do not testify with them, and do not follow the desires of those who deny Our signs, and those who do not believe in the Hereafter and equate [others] with their Lord.
قُلْ تَعَالَوْا۟ أَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ أَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَـٰنًا ۖ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَـٰدَكُم مِّنْ إِمْلَـٰقٍ ۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ ۖ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
qul taʿālaw ˈatlu mā ḥarrama rabbukum ʿalaykum ˈallā tušrikū bihī šayˈan wa-bi-l-wālidayni ˈiḥsānan wa-lā taqtulū ˈawlādakum min ˈimlāqin naḥnu narzuqukum wa-ˈiyyāhum wa-lā taqrabū l-fawāḥiša mā ẓahara minhā wa-mā baṭana wa-lā taqtulū n-nafsa llatī ḥarrama llāhu ˈillā bi-l-ḥaqqi ḏālikum waṣṣākum bihī laʿallakum taʿqilūna
Say, ‘Come, I will recount what your Lord has forbidden you. That you shall not ascribe any partners to Him, and you shall be good to the parents, you shall not kill your children due to penury—We will provide for you and for them—you shall not approach indecencies, the outward among them and the inward ones, and you shall not kill a soul [whose life] Allah has made inviolable, except with due cause. This is what He has enjoined upon you so that you may exercise your reason.
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ مَالَ ٱلْيَتِيمِ إِلَّا بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ ۖ وَأَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۖ لَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۖ وَإِذَا قُلْتُمْ فَٱعْدِلُوا۟ وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰ ۖ وَبِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْفُوا۟ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
wa-lā taqrabū māla l-yatīmi ˈillā bi-llatī hiya ˈaḥsanu ḥattā yabluġa ˈašuddahū wa-ˈawfū l-kayla wa-l-mīzāna bi-l-qisṭi lā nukallifu nafsan ˈillā wusʿahā wa-ˈiḏā qultum fa-ʿdilū wa-law kāna ḏā qurbā wa-bi-ʿahdi llāhi ˈawfū ḏālikum waṣṣākum bihī laʿallakum taḏakkarūna
Do not approach the orphan’s property, except in the best [possible] manner, until he comes of age. And observe fully the measure and the balance with justice.’ We task no soul except according to its capacity. ‘And when you speak, be fair, even if it were a relative; and fulfill Allah’s covenant. This is what He enjoins upon you so that you may take admonition.’
وَأَنَّ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطِى مُسْتَقِيمًا فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلسُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
wa-ˈanna hāḏā ṣirāṭī mustaqīman fa-ttabiʿūhu wa-lā tattabiʿū s-subula fa-tafarraqa bikum ʿan sabīlihī ḏālikum waṣṣākum bihī laʿallakum tattaqūna
‘This indeed is my straight path, so follow it, and do not follow [other] ways, for they will separate you from His way. This is what He enjoins upon you so that you may be Godwary.’
ثُمَّ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ تَمَامًا عَلَى ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحْسَنَ وَتَفْصِيلًا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لَّعَلَّهُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ
ṯumma ˈātaynā mūsā l-kitāba tamāman ʿalā llaḏī ˈaḥsana wa-tafṣīlan li-kulli šayˈin wa-hudan wa-raḥmatan laʿallahum bi-liqāˈi rabbihim yuˈminūna
Then We gave Moses the Book, completing [Our blessing] on him who is virtuous, and as an elaboration of all things, and as a guidance and mercy, so that they may believe in the encounter with their Lord.
وَهَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ مُبَارَكٌ فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
wa-hāḏā kitābun ˈanzalnāhu mubārakun fa-ttabiʿūhu wa-ttaqū laʿallakum turḥamūna
And this Book that We have sent down is a blessed one; so follow it, and be Godwary so that you may receive [His] mercy.
أَن تَقُولُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ عَلَىٰ طَآئِفَتَيْنِ مِن قَبْلِنَا وَإِن كُنَّا عَن دِرَاسَتِهِمْ لَغَـٰفِلِينَ
ˈan taqūlū ˈinnamā ˈunzila l-kitābu ʿalā ṭāˈifatayni min qablinā wa-ˈin kunnā ʿan dirāsatihim la-ġāfilīna
Lest you should say, ‘The Book was sent down only to two communities before us, and we were indeed unaware of their studies,’
أَوْ تَقُولُوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْنَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ لَكُنَّآ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْهُمْ ۚ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ ۚ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَصَدَفَ عَنْهَا ۗ سَنَجْزِى ٱلَّذِينَ يَصْدِفُونَ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْدِفُونَ
ˈaw taqūlū law ˈannā ˈunzila ʿalaynā l-kitābu la-kunnā ˈahdā minhum fa-qad ǧāˈakum bayyinatun min rabbikum wa-hudan wa-raḥmatun fa-man ˈaẓlamu mimman kaḏḏaba bi-ˈāyāti llāhi wa-ṣadafa ʿanhā sa-naǧzī llaḏīna yaṣdifūna ʿan ˈāyātinā sūˈa l-ʿaḏābi bi-mā kānū yaṣdifūna
or [lest] you should say, ‘If the Book had been sent down to us, surely we would have been better-guided than them.’ There has already come to you a manifest proof from your Lord and a guidance and mercy. So who is a greater wrongdoer than him who denies the signs of Allah, and turns away from them? Soon We shall requite those who turn away from Our signs with a terrible punishment because of what they used to evade.
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ بَعْضُ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّكَ ۗ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى بَعْضُ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَـٰنُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ ءَامَنَتْ مِن قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِىٓ إِيمَـٰنِهَا خَيْرًا ۗ قُلِ ٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَ
hal yanẓurūna ˈillā ˈan taˈtiyahumu l-malāˈikatu ˈaw yaˈtiya rabbuka ˈaw yaˈtiya baʿḍu ˈāyāti rabbika yawma yaˈtī baʿḍu ˈāyāti rabbika lā yanfaʿu nafsan ˈīmānuhā lam takun ˈāmanat min qablu ˈaw kasabat fī ˈīmānihā ḫayran quli ntaẓirū ˈinnā muntaẓirūna
Do they not consider that the angels may come to them, or your Lord may come, or some of your Lord’s signs may come? The day when some of your Lord’s signs do come, faith shall not benefit any soul that had not believed beforehand and had not earned some goodness in its faith. Say, ‘Wait! We too are waiting!’
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا۟ دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا۟ شِيَعًا لَّسْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِى شَىْءٍ ۚ إِنَّمَآ أَمْرُهُمْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
ˈinna llaḏīna farraqū dīnahum wa-kānū šiyaʿan lasta minhum fī šayˈin ˈinnamā ˈamruhum ˈilā llāhi ṯumma yunabbiˈuhum bi-mā kānū yafʿalūna
Indeed those who split up their religion and became sects, you will not have anything to do with them. Their matter rests only with Allah; then He will inform them concerning what they used to do.
مَن جَآءَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا ۖ وَمَن جَآءَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ
man ǧāˈa bi-l-ḥasanati fa-lahū ʿašru ˈamṯālihā wa-man ǧāˈa bi-s-sayyiˈati fa-lā yuǧzā ˈillā miṯlahā wa-hum lā yuẓlamūna
Whoever brings virtue shall receive [a reward] ten times its like; but whoever brings vice shall not be requited except with its like, and they will not be wronged.
قُلْ إِنَّنِى هَدَىٰنِى رَبِّىٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ دِينًا قِيَمًا مِّلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًا ۚ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
qul ˈinnanī hadānī rabbī ˈilā ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin dīnan qiyaman millata ˈibrāhīma ḥanīfan wa-mā kāna mina l-mušrikīna
Say, ‘Indeed my Lord has guided me to a straight path, the upright religion, the creed of Abraham, a Hanif, and he was not one of the polytheists.’
قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِى وَنُسُكِى وَمَحْيَاىَ وَمَمَاتِى لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
qul ˈinna ṣalātī wa-nusukī wa-maḥyāya wa-mamātī li-llāhi rabbi l-ʿālamīna
Say, ‘Indeed my prayer and my worship, my life and my death are for the sake of Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُۥ ۖ وَبِذَٰلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
lā šarīka lahū wa-bi-ḏālika ˈumirtu wa-ˈana ˈawwalu l-muslimīna
He has no partner, and I have been commanded [to follow] this [creed], and I am the first of those who submit [to Allah].’
قُلْ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ أَبْغِى رَبًّا وَهُوَ رَبُّ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ ۚ وَلَا تَكْسِبُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ إِلَّا عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ
qul ˈa-ġayra llāhi ˈabġī rabban wa-huwa rabbu kulli šayˈin wa-lā taksibu kullu nafsin ˈillā ʿalayhā wa-lā taziru wāziratun wizra ˈuḫrā ṯumma ˈilā rabbikum marǧiʿukum fa-yunabbiˈukum bi-mā kuntum fīhi taḫtalifūna
Say, ‘Shall I seek a Lord other than Allah, while He is the Lord of all things?’ No soul does evil except against itself, and no bearer shall bear another’s burden; then to your Lord will be your return, whereat He will inform you concerning that about which you used to differ.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَكُمْ خَلَـٰٓئِفَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَرَفَعَ بَعْضَكُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَـٰتٍ لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِى مَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْعِقَابِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌۢ
wa-huwa llaḏī ǧaʿalakum ḫalāˈifa l-ˈarḍi wa-rafaʿa baʿḍakum fawqa baʿḍin daraǧātin li-yabluwakum fī mā ˈātākum ˈinna rabbaka sarīʿu l-ʿiqābi wa-ˈinnahū la-ġafūrun raḥīmun
It is He who has made you successors on the earth, and raised some of you in rank above others so that He may test you in respect to what He has given you. Indeed your Lord is swift in retribution, and indeed, He is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
