Surah Ar-Rahmaan

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 55:1

   ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ﴿١﴾

   ar-raḥmānu

   The All-beneficent

2. 55:2

   عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ﴿٢﴾

   ʿallama l-qurˈāna

   has taught the Quran.

3. 55:3

   خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ﴿٣﴾

   ḫalaqa l-ˈinsāna

   He created man,

4. 55:4

   عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ﴿٤﴾

   ʿallamahu l-bayāna

   [and] taught him articulate speech.

5. 55:5

   ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ﴿٥﴾

   aš-šamsu wa-l-qamaru bi-ḥusbānin

   The sun and the moon are [disposed] calculatedly,

6. 55:6

   وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ﴿٦﴾

   wa-n-naǧmu wa-š-šaǧaru yasǧudāni

   and the herb and the tree prostrate [to Allah].

7. 55:7

   وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ﴿٧﴾

   wa-s-samāˈa rafaʿahā wa-waḍaʿa l-mīzāna

   He raised the heaven high and set up the balance,

8. 55:8

   أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ﴿٨﴾

   ˈallā taṭġaw fī l-mīzāni

   declaring, ‘Do not infringe the balance!

9. 55:9

   وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ﴿٩﴾

   wa-ˈaqīmū l-wazna bi-l-qisṭi wa-lā tuḫsirū l-mīzāna

   Maintain the weights with justice, and do not shorten the balance!’

10. 55:10

    وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ﴿١٠﴾

    wa-l-ˈarḍa waḍaʿahā li-l-ˈanāmi

    And the earth—He laid it out for mankind.

11. 55:11

    فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ﴿١١﴾

    fīhā fākihatun wa-n-naḫlu ḏātu l-ˈakmāmi

    In it are fruits and date-palms with sheaths,

12. 55:12

    وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ﴿١٢﴾

    wa-l-ḥabbu ḏū l-ʿaṣfi wa-r-rayḥānu

    grain with husk, and fragrant herbs.

13. 55:13

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿١٣﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

14. 55:14

    خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ﴿١٤﴾

    ḫalaqa l-ˈinsāna min ṣalṣālin ka-l-faḫḫāri

    He created man out of dry clay, like the potter’s,

15. 55:15

    وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ﴿١٥﴾

    wa-ḫalaqa l-ǧānna min māriǧin min nārin

    and created the jinn out of a flame of a fire.

16. 55:16

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿١٦﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

17. 55:17

    رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ﴿١٧﴾

    rabbu l-mašriqayni wa-rabbu l-maġribayni

    Lord of the two easts, and Lord of the two wests!

18. 55:18

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿١٨﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

19. 55:19

    مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ﴿١٩﴾

    maraǧa l-baḥrayni yaltaqiyāni

    He merged the two seas, meeting each other.

20. 55:20

    بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ﴿٢٠﴾

    baynahumā barzaḫun lā yabġiyāni

    There is a barrier between them, which they do not overstep.

21. 55:21

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٢١﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

22. 55:22

    يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ﴿٢٢﴾

    yaḫruǧu minhumā l-luˈluˈu wa-l-marǧānu

    From them emerge the pearl and the coral.

23. 55:23

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٢٣﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

24. 55:24

    وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ﴿٢٤﴾

    wa-lahu l-ǧawāri l-munšaˈātu fī l-baḥri ka-l-ˈaʿlāmi

    His are the sailing ships on the sea [appearing] like landmarks.

25. 55:25

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٢٥﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

26. 55:26

    كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ﴿٢٦﴾

    kullu man ʿalayhā fānin

    Everyone on it is ephemeral,

27. 55:27

    وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ﴿٢٧﴾

    wa-yabqā waǧhu rabbika ḏū l-ǧalāli wa-l-ˈikrāmi

    yet lasting is the majestic and munificent Face of your Lord.

28. 55:28

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٢٨﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

29. 55:29

    يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ﴿٢٩﴾

    yasˈaluhū man fī s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi kulla yawmin huwa fī šaˈnin

    Everyone in the heavens and the earth asks Him. Every day He is engaged in some work.

30. 55:30

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٣٠﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

31. 55:31

    سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ﴿٣١﴾

    sa-nafruġu lakum ˈayyuha ṯ-ṯaqalāni

    Soon We shall make Ourselves unoccupied for you, O you notable two!

32. 55:32

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٣٢﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

33. 55:33

    يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ﴿٣٣﴾

    yā-maʿšara l-ǧinni wa-l-ˈinsi ˈini staṭaʿtum ˈan tanfuḏū min ˈaqṭāri s-samāwāti wa-l-ˈarḍi fa-nfuḏū lā tanfuḏūna ˈillā bi-sulṭānin

    O company of jinn and humans! If you can pass through the confines of the heavens and the earth, then do pass through. But you will not pass through except by an authority [from Allah].

34. 55:34

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٣٤﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

35. 55:35

    يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ﴿٣٥﴾

    yursalu ʿalaykumā šuwāẓun min nārin wa-nuḥāsun fa-lā tantaṣirāni

    There will be unleashed upon you a flash of fire and a smoke; then you will not be able to help one another.

36. 55:36

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٣٦﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

37. 55:37

    فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ﴿٣٧﴾

    fa-ˈiḏā nšaqqati s-samāˈu fa-kānat wardatan ka-d-dihāni

    When the sky is split open, and turns crimson like tanned leather.

38. 55:38

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٣٨﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

39. 55:39

    فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ﴿٣٩﴾

    fa-yawmaˈiḏin lā yusˈalu ʿan ḏanbihī ˈinsun wa-lā ǧānnun

    On that day neither humans will be questioned about their sins nor jinn.

40. 55:40

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٤٠﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

41. 55:41

    يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ﴿٤١﴾

    yuʿrafu l-muǧrimūna bi-sīmāhum fa-yuˈḫaḏu bi-n-nawāṣī wa-l-ˈaqdāmi

    The guilty will be recognized by their mark; so they will be seized by their forelocks and feet.

42. 55:42

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٤٢﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

43. 55:43

    هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ﴿٤٣﴾

    hāḏihī ǧahannamu llatī yukaḏḏibu bihā l-muǧrimūna

    ‘This is the hell which the guilty would deny!’

44. 55:44

    يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ﴿٤٤﴾

    yaṭūfūna baynahā wa-bayna ḥamīmin ˈānin

    They shall circuit between it and boiling hot water.

45. 55:45

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٤٥﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

46. 55:46

    وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ﴿٤٦﴾

    wa-li-man ḫāfa maqāma rabbihī ǧannatāni

    For him who stands in awe of his Lord will be two gardens.

47. 55:47

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٤٧﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

48. 55:48

    ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ﴿٤٨﴾

    ḏawātā ˈafnānin

    Both abounding in branches.

49. 55:49

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٤٩﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

50. 55:50

    فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ﴿٥٠﴾

    fīhimā ʿaynāni taǧriyāni

    In both of them will be two flowing springs.

51. 55:51

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٥١﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

52. 55:52

    فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ﴿٥٢﴾

    fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawǧāni

    In both of them will be two kinds of every fruit.

53. 55:53

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٥٣﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

54. 55:54

    مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ﴿٥٤﴾

    muttakiˈīna ʿalā furušin baṭāˈinuhā min ˈistabraqin wa-ǧanā l-ǧannatayni dānin

    [They will be] reclining on beds lined with green silk. And the fruit of the two gardens will be near at hand.

55. 55:55

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٥٥﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

56. 55:56

    فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ﴿٥٦﴾

    fīhinna qāṣirātu ṭ-ṭarfi lam yaṭmiṯhunna ˈinsun qablahum wa-lā ǧānnun

    In them are maidens of restrained glances, whom no human has touched before, nor jinn.

57. 55:57

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٥٧﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

58. 55:58

    كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ﴿٥٨﴾

    ka-ˈannahunna l-yāqūtu wa-l-marǧānu

    As though they were rubies and corals.

59. 55:59

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٥٩﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

60. 55:60

    هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ﴿٦٠﴾

    hal ǧazāˈu l-ˈiḥsāni ˈillā l-ˈiḥsānu

    Is the requital of goodness anything but goodness?

61. 55:61

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٦١﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

62. 55:62

    وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ﴿٦٢﴾

    wa-min dūnihimā ǧannatāni

    Beside these two, there will be two [other] gardens.

63. 55:63

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٦٣﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

64. 55:64

    مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ﴿٦٤﴾

    mudhāmmatāni

    Dark green.

65. 55:65

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٦٥﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

66. 55:66

    فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ﴿٦٦﴾

    fīhimā ʿaynāni naḍḍāḫatāni

    In both of them will be two gushing springs.

67. 55:67

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٦٧﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

68. 55:68

    فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ﴿٦٨﴾

    fīhimā fākihatun wa-naḫlun wa-rummānun

    In both of them will be fruits, date-palms and pomegranates.

69. 55:69

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٦٩﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

70. 55:70

    فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ﴿٧٠﴾

    fīhinna ḫayrātun ḥisānun

    In them are maidens good and lovely.

71. 55:71

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٧١﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

72. 55:72

    حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ﴿٧٢﴾

    ḥūrun maqṣūrātun fī l-ḫiyāmi

    Houris secluded in pavilions.

73. 55:73

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٧٣﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

74. 55:74

    لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ﴿٧٤﴾

    lam yaṭmiṯhunna ˈinsun qablahum wa-lā ǧānnun

    Whom no human has touched before, nor jinn.

75. 55:75

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٧٥﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

76. 55:76

    مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ﴿٧٦﴾

    muttakiˈīna ʿalā rafrafin ḫuḍrin wa-ʿabqariyyin ḥisānin

    Reclining on green cushions and lovely carpets.

77. 55:77

    فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ﴿٧٧﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ˈālāˈi rabbikumā tukaḏḏibāni

    So which of your Lord’s bounties will you both deny?

78. 55:78

    تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ﴿٧٨﴾

    tabāraka smu rabbika ḏī l-ǧalāli wa-l-ˈikrāmi

    Blessed is the Name of your Lord, the Majestic and the Munificent!
