Surah Al-Mursalaat

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 77:1

   وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا﴿١﴾

   wa-l-mursalāti ʿurfan

   By the [angelic] emissaries sent successively,

2. 77:2

   فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا﴿٢﴾

   fa-l-ʿāṣifāti ʿaṣfan

   by those who sweep along like gale,

3. 77:3

   وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا﴿٣﴾

   wa-n-nāširāti našran

   by those who publish [the Divine messages] far and wide,

4. 77:4

   فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا﴿٤﴾

   fa-l-fāriqāti farqan

   by those who separate [the truth from falsehood] distinctly,

5. 77:5

   فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا﴿٥﴾

   fa-l-mulqiyāti ḏikran

   by those who inspire [God’s] remembrance,

6. 77:6

   عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا﴿٦﴾

   ʿuḏran ˈaw nuḏran

   as exemption or warning:

7. 77:7

   إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ﴿٧﴾

   ˈinnamā tūʿadūna la-wāqiʿun

   what you are promised will surely befall.

8. 77:8

   فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ﴿٨﴾

   fa-ˈiḏā n-nuǧūmu ṭumisat

   When the stars are blotted out

9. 77:9

   وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ﴿٩﴾

   wa-ˈiḏā s-samāˈu furiǧat

   and the sky is cleft,

10. 77:10

    وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ﴿١٠﴾

    wa-ˈiḏā l-ǧibālu nusifat

    when the mountains are scattered [like dust]

11. 77:11

    وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ﴿١١﴾

    wa-ˈiḏā r-rusulu ˈuqqitat

    and time is set for the apostles [to bear witness]

12. 77:12

    لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ﴿١٢﴾

    li-ˈayyi yawmin ˈuǧǧilat

    —for what day has [all] that been set [to occur]?

13. 77:13

    لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ﴿١٣﴾

    li-yawmi l-faṣli

    For the Day of Judgement!

14. 77:14

    وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ﴿١٤﴾

    wa-mā ˈadrāka mā yawmu l-faṣli

    And what will show you what is the Day of Judgement!?

15. 77:15

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿١٥﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

16. 77:16

    أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿١٦﴾

    ˈa-lam nuhliki l-ˈawwalīna

    Did We not destroy the former generations,

17. 77:17

    ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ﴿١٧﴾

    ṯumma nutbiʿuhumu l-ˈāḫirīna

    [and] then made the latter ones follow them?

18. 77:18

    كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ﴿١٨﴾

    ka-ḏālika nafʿalu bi-l-muǧrimīna

    That is how We deal with the guilty.

19. 77:19

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿١٩﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

20. 77:20

    أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ﴿٢٠﴾

    ˈa-lam naḫluqkum min māˈin mahīnin

    Have We not created you from a base fluid,

21. 77:21

    فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ﴿٢١﴾

    fa-ǧaʿalnāhu fī qarārin makīnin

    [and] then lodged it in a secure abode

22. 77:22

    إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ﴿٢٢﴾

    ˈilā qadarin maʿlūmin

    until a known span [of time]?

23. 77:23

    فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ﴿٢٣﴾

    fa-qadarnā fa-niʿma l-qādirūna

    Then We determined; and how excellent determiners We are!

24. 77:24

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿٢٤﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

25. 77:25

    أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا﴿٢٥﴾

    ˈa-lam naǧʿali l-ˈarḍa kifātan

    Have We not made the earth a receptacle

26. 77:26

    أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا﴿٢٦﴾

    ˈaḥyāˈan wa-ˈamwātan

    for the living and the dead,

27. 77:27

    وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا﴿٢٧﴾

    wa-ǧaʿalnā fīhā rawāsiya šāmiḫātin wa-ˈasqaynākum māˈan furātan

    and set in it lofty [and] firm mountains, and given you agreeable water to drink?

28. 77:28

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿٢٨﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

29. 77:29

    ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿٢٩﴾

    inṭaliqū ˈilā mā kuntum bihī tukaḏḏibūna

    [The faithless will be told:] ‘Proceed toward what you used to deny!

30. 77:30

    ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ﴿٣٠﴾

    inṭaliqū ˈilā ẓillin ḏī ṯalāṯi šuʿabin

    Proceed toward the triple-forked shadow,

31. 77:31

    لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ﴿٣١﴾

    lā ẓalīlin wa-lā yuġnī mina l-lahabi

    neither shady nor of any avail against the flames.

32. 77:32

    إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ﴿٣٢﴾

    ˈinnahā tarmī bi-šararin ka-l-qaṣri

    Indeed it throws up [giant] sparks like castles,

33. 77:33

    كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ﴿٣٣﴾

    ka-ˈannahū ǧimālatun ṣufrun

    [bright] like yellow camels.

34. 77:34

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿٣٤﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

35. 77:35

    هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ﴿٣٥﴾

    hāḏā yawmu lā yanṭiqūna

    This is a day wherein they will not speak,

36. 77:36

    وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ﴿٣٦﴾

    wa-lā yuˈḏanu lahum fa-yaʿtaḏirūna

    nor will they be permitted to offer excuses.

37. 77:37

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿٣٧﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

38. 77:38

    هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿٣٨﴾

    hāḏā yawmu l-faṣli ǧamaʿnākum wa-l-ˈawwalīna

    ‘This is the Day of Judgement. We have brought you together with the former generations.

39. 77:39

    فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ﴿٣٩﴾

    fa-ˈin kāna lakum kaydun fa-kīdūni

    If you have any stratagems [left], try them out against Me!’

40. 77:40

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿٤٠﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

41. 77:41

    إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ﴿٤١﴾

    ˈinna l-muttaqīna fī ẓilālin wa-ʿuyūnin

    Indeed the Godwary will be amid shades and springs

42. 77:42

    وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ﴿٤٢﴾

    wa-fawākiha mimmā yaštahūna

    and [enjoying] such fruits as they desire.

43. 77:43

    كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿٤٣﴾

    kulū wa-šrabū hanīˈan bi-mā kuntum taʿmalūna

    [They will be told:] ‘Enjoy your food and drink, [a reward] for what you used to do.

44. 77:44

    إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿٤٤﴾

    ˈinnā ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-muḥsinīna

    Thus do We reward the virtuous.’

45. 77:45

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿٤٥﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

46. 77:46

    كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ﴿٤٦﴾

    kulū wa-tamattaʿū qalīlan ˈinnakum muǧrimūna

    ‘Eat and enjoy a little! You are indeed guilty.’

47. 77:47

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿٤٧﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

48. 77:48

    وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ﴿٤٨﴾

    wa-ˈiḏā qīla lahumu rkaʿū lā yarkaʿūna

    When they are told, ‘Bow down [in prayer],’ they do not bow down!

49. 77:49

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿٤٩﴾

    waylun yawmaˈiḏin li-l-mukaḏḏibīna

    Woe to the deniers on that day!

50. 77:50

    فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿٥٠﴾

    fa-bi-ˈayyi ḥadīṯin baʿdahū yuˈminūna

    So what discourse will they believe after this?
