Surah Al-Inshiqaaq

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 84:1

   إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ﴿١﴾

   ˈiḏā s-samāˈu nšaqqat

   When the sky is split open

2. 84:2

   وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ﴿٢﴾

   wa-ˈaḏinat li-rabbihā wa-ḥuqqat

   and gives ear to its Lord as it should.

3. 84:3

   وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ﴿٣﴾

   wa-ˈiḏā l-ˈarḍu muddat

   When the earth is spread out

4. 84:4

   وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ﴿٤﴾

   wa-ˈalqat mā fīhā wa-taḫallat

   and throws out what is in it, emptying itself,

5. 84:5

   وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ﴿٥﴾

   wa-ˈaḏinat li-rabbihā wa-ḥuqqat

   and gives ear to its Lord as it should.

6. 84:6

   يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ﴿٦﴾

   yā-ˈayyuhā l-ˈinsānu ˈinnaka kādiḥun ˈilā rabbika kadḥan fa-mulāqīhi

   O man! You are labouring toward your Lord laboriously, and you will encounter Him.

7. 84:7

   فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ﴿٧﴾

   fa-ˈammā man ˈūtiya kitābahū bi-yamīnihī

   Then, as for him who is given his record [of deeds] in his right hand,

8. 84:8

   فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا﴿٨﴾

   fa-sawfa yuḥāsabu ḥisāban yasīran

   he will receive an easy reckoning,

9. 84:9

   وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا﴿٩﴾

   wa-yanqalibu ˈilā ˈahlihī masrūran

   and he will return to his folks joyfully.

10. 84:10

    وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ﴿١٠﴾

    wa-ˈammā man ˈūtiya kitābahū warāˈa ẓahrihī

    But as for him who is given his record from behind his back,

11. 84:11

    فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا﴿١١﴾

    fa-sawfa yadʿū ṯubūran

    he will pray for annihilation

12. 84:12

    وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا﴿١٢﴾

    wa-yaṣlā saʿīran

    and enter the Blaze.

13. 84:13

    إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا﴿١٣﴾

    ˈinnahū kāna fī ˈahlihī masrūran

    Indeed he used to be joyful among his folk,

14. 84:14

    إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ﴿١٤﴾

    ˈinnahū ẓanna ˈan lan yaḥūra

    and he thought that he would never return.

15. 84:15

    بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا﴿١٥﴾

    balā ˈinna rabbahū kāna bihī baṣīran

    Yes, his Lord had been watching him.

16. 84:16

    فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ﴿١٦﴾

    fa-lā ˈuqsimu bi-š-šafaqi

    I swear by the evening glow,

17. 84:17

    وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ﴿١٧﴾

    wa-l-layli wa-mā wasaqa

    by the night and what it is fraught with,

18. 84:18

    وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ﴿١٨﴾

    wa-l-qamari ˈiḏā ttasaqa

    by the moon when it blooms full:

19. 84:19

    لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ﴿١٩﴾

    la-tarkabunna ṭabaqan ʿan ṭabaqin

    you will surely fare from stage to stage.

20. 84:20

    فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿٢٠﴾

    fa-mā lahum lā yuˈminūna

    What is the matter with them that they will not believe,

21. 84:21Sajdah

    وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩﴿٢١﴾

    wa-ˈiḏā quriˈa ʿalayhimu l-qurˈānu lā yasǧudūna

    and will not prostrate when the Quran is recited to them?

22. 84:22

    بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ﴿٢٢﴾

    bali llaḏīna kafarū yukaḏḏibūna

    Indeed, the faithless impugn [the Apostle],

23. 84:23

    وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ﴿٢٣﴾

    wa-llāhu ˈaʿlamu bi-mā yūʿūna

    and Allah knows best what they keep to themselves.

24. 84:24

    فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ﴿٢٤﴾

    fa-bašširhum bi-ʿaḏābin ˈalīmin

    So inform them of a painful punishment,

25. 84:25

    إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ﴿٢٥﴾

    ˈillā llaḏīna ˈāmanū wa-ʿamilū ṣ-ṣāliḥāti lahum ˈaǧrun ġayru mamnūnin

    excepting such as are faithful and do righteous deeds: for them there will be an everlasting reward.
