Surah At-Taariq

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 86:1

   وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ﴿١﴾

   wa-s-samāˈi wa-ṭ-ṭāriqi

   By the heaven, and by the nightly visitor

2. 86:2

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ﴿٢﴾

   wa-mā ˈadrāka mā ṭ-ṭāriqu

   (and what will show you what is the nightly visitor?

3. 86:3

   ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ﴿٣﴾

   an-naǧmu ṯ-ṯāqibu

   It is the brilliant star):

4. 86:4

   إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ﴿٤﴾

   ˈin kullu nafsin lammā ʿalayhā ḥāfiẓun

   there is a guard over every soul.

5. 86:5

   فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ﴿٥﴾

   fa-l-yanẓuri l-ˈinsānu mimma ḫuliqa

   So let man consider from what he was created.

6. 86:6

   خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ﴿٦﴾

   ḫuliqa min māˈin dāfiqin

   He was created from an effusing fluid

7. 86:7

   يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ﴿٧﴾

   yaḫruǧu min bayni ṣ-ṣulbi wa-t-tarāˈibi

   which issues from between the loins and the breast-bones.

8. 86:8

   إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌ﴿٨﴾

   ˈinnahū ʿalā raǧʿihī la-qādirun

   Indeed He is able to bring him back [after death],

9. 86:9

   يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ﴿٩﴾

   yawma tublā s-sarāˈiru

   on the day when the secrets are examined

10. 86:10

    فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ﴿١٠﴾

    fa-mā lahū min quwwatin wa-lā nāṣirin

    and he shall have neither power nor helper.

11. 86:11

    وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ﴿١١﴾

    wa-s-samāˈi ḏāti r-raǧʿi

    By the resurgent heaven,

12. 86:12

    وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ﴿١٢﴾

    wa-l-ˈarḍi ḏāti ṣ-ṣadʿi

    and by the furrowed earth:

13. 86:13

    إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ﴿١٣﴾

    ˈinnahū la-qawlun faṣlun

    it is indeed a conclusive discourse,

14. 86:14

    وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ﴿١٤﴾

    wa-mā huwa bi-l-hazli

    and not a jest.

15. 86:15

    إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا﴿١٥﴾

    ˈinnahum yakīdūna kaydan

    Indeed they are devising a stratagem,

16. 86:16

    وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا﴿١٦﴾

    wa-ˈakīdu kaydan

    and I [too] am devising a plan.

17. 86:17

    فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا﴿١٧﴾

    fa-mahhili l-kāfirīna ˈamhilhum ruwaydan

    So respite the faithless; give them a gentle respite.
