علي الأكبر

امام المضحينThe Imam of the sacrificers,

علي الاكبر (4x)Ali al-Akbar.

اسرح اسرحGo forth, go forth!

صنعه الله به لم تعرفThe craftsmanship of God in him is unknown,

وبما لا يصفون يوصفAnd he is described by what cannot be described.

فالذي يغفله ما صلىSo whoever neglects him has not prayed,

والذي يمدحه ما انصفAnd whoever praises him has not done him justice.

جل من سوى صفات حضره الاكبرGlorified is He who fashioned the attributes of al-Akbar's presence.

ان تبسم ما تراه من بيد السكرIf he smiles, you see him as the source of sweetness.

ان تغضب تهف صرصر الموتIf he becomes angry, the whirlwind of death blows,

فتح دار حيدرSo you wonder, is he Haidar (Ali)?

او هو حيدرOr is he Haidar?

صوت المصليThe prayer of the worshipper,

بعين التوليWith the eye of devotion,

سلال التجليThe pure essence of manifestation,

مجيب المضطرThe answerer of the distressed.

فرات الشهودThe Euphrates of witnesses,

بوحي الصعودBy the revelation of ascent,

تمام الوجودThe perfection of existence,

علي البارAli the Creator.

علي الاكبر (3x)Ali al-Akbar.

ورد الحرب وخد وردHe entered the war, and his cheek blossomed.

شرد الجمع وسيف جرّدHe scattered the crowd and drew his sword.

اصغر معجزهThe smallest miracle

كانت لهThat was for him,

حاصر العسكر وهو المفردHe besieged the army while he was alone.

مالت الغرة ثم جالت النظرةHis forelock swayed, then his gaze swept around.

تنصف الرؤوس منهم شطرة شطرةHe split their heads, one by one.

من رأى جده قال ها هو الكرارWhoever saw him said, 'Behold, he is Al-Karrar!'

ثلثا المراجل ألآن بالفرةTwo-thirds of the valor is now in his charge.

رأوا في الثبات يقين المماتThey saw in his steadfastness the certainty of death.

فإبن الصلاة عليهم كبرSo the son of prayer magnified God over them.

فتى طالبي ووجه نبي وسيف أبيA Hashemite youth, with the face of a prophet, and the sword of his father.
