ما خابَ مَنْ ناداكَ عِنْدَ الكُرَبْNever disappointed is he who calls upon you in distress,

يا بَرْدَ الماءِ، يا نيرانَ اللَّهَبْO coolness of water, O fires of flame!

نادَيْنا أدْرِكْنا يا نِعْمَ الكَفيلِWe called out, "Help us, O excellent Guardian!"

ثُمَّ كانَ الفِعْلُ وَالأَمْرُ الْعَجَبْ (2x)Then came the deed and the wondrous event.

إنّا رَأَيْناكَ تَشُقُّ السَّماءَIndeed, we saw you cleaving the sky,

حَتّى العِدا رَأَوْكَ تُعْلي اللِّواءَEven the enemies saw you raising the banner.

حينَ وَقَفْتَ فَوْقَ أرْضِ الْجَنوبِWhen you stood upon the land of the South,

أرْضُ الْجَنوبِ أصْبَحَتْ كَرْبَلاءَ (2x)The land of the South became Karbala.

يا أصْلَ النِّعَمْO source of blessings,

يا نِبْراسَ الْمَجْدِ مِنْ صُلْبِ عَلِيّO beacon of glory from the loins of Ali,

هَذِّبْنا، أَدِّبْنا، وَاقْبَلْنا خَدَمْ (2x)Refine us, discipline us, and accept us as servants.

خُدّامَكَ في المَراثي وَالْمَواكِبْYour servants in elegies and processions,

خُدّامَكَ في جَبْهَةِ الْحَقِّ نُحارِبْYour servants, we fight on the front lines of truth.

خُدّامَكَ نَنْتَظِرُ ثارَ زَيْنَبْYour servants, we await the vengeance for Zaynab,

مَعَ قائِمٍ بِالحَقِّ لِلثّارِ طالِبْ (2x)With the one who rises for truth, demanding vengeance.
