و چه جایی از پهنه بیکران عفو تو را اشغال می‌کنم؟And what place do I occupy in the boundless expanse of Your pardon?

پس به کرامتت بگذرSo overlook by Your noble generosity,

و از دریچه عفوت به این خطاکار بنگر.and look upon this wrongdoer through the lens of Your forgiveness.

خدای منMy God,

این تن عریان گناه نیازمند لباس ستاری توست.this body bare with sin stands in need of Your concealing garment.

تو را به آبروی تو سوگندI implore You by Your honor,

جان را در آفتاب سوزان شماتتت رها مکن.do not abandon my soul beneath the scorching sun of Your reproach.

خدایا من واقفم به این حقیقت تلخO God, I am fully aware of this bitter truth:

که اگر از بندگان تو کسی گناه مرا می‌فهمیدthat if any of Your servants had known of my sin,

من پرهیز می‌کردم از ادامه گناهI would have refrained from persisting in sin,

و یا اگر تو در عقوبت و مجازات اهل تعجیل بودیOr if You had been swift in punishment and retribution,

باز من می‌ترسیدم از تکرار گناه.I would have feared repeating the sin.

لا لأنك أهون الناظرينNot because You are the least significant of onlookers,

و أخف المطلعين،nor the lightest of observers,

بل لأنك يا رب خير الساترين،but rather because, O Lord, You are the best of concealers,

و أحكم الحاكمين،and the most just of judges,

و أكرم الأكرمين،and the most generous of the generous,

ستار العيوب،Concealer of flaws,

غفار الذنوب،Forgiver of sins,

علام الغيوب،Knower of the unseen;

تستر الذنب بكرمك،You veil sins by Your nobility,

و تؤخر العقوبة بحلمك.and postpone punishment through Your forbearance.

اما این را نیز تو می‌دانی که این ماجرا نه از سر بی‌اعتنایی به توستYet You also know that this did not stem from disregarding You,

و یا خوار و کوچک و بی‌مقدار شمردن توnor from belittling You or counting You insignificant,

و از بندگان تو کوچک‌تر دانستن تو.nor considering You lesser than Your servants.

پناه می‌برم.I seek refuge!

پناه بر تو از این گمان.I seek refuge in You from such a thought.

پناه بر تو.I seek refuge in You.

بل همه از این روست که تو خدای من خوب‌ترین پوشاننده‌ای،Rather, it is all because You, my God, are the finest concealer,

دقیق‌ترین حکم کننده‌ای،the most precise of judges,

مهربان‌ترین بخشنده‌ای،the most merciful bestower,

زیباترین درگذرنده‌ایthe most gracious in pardoning,

و بیشترین آمرزنده‌ای.and the utmost forgiver.

تو علی‌رغم دانستن نهانی‌ها پرده کرامت بر عیوب و گناهان می‌افکنیDespite knowing the hidden secrets, You cast the veil of Your grace over faults and sins,

و مجازات و تنبیه را با دست‌های حلم خویش به تأخیر می‌اندازی.and postpone retribution and chastisement with the hands of Your forbearance.
