كم توبةٍ ستُرفع (2x)How many repentances will be raised?

كم عاشقٍ تمنّىHow many lovers wished...

فيمن هواهُ يفنىTo perish in the one he loves.

لو بالدّما تحنّى (2x)Even if it meant being stained with blood.

وللطفوف يُرجع (2x)And return to Karbala.

أخبرني يا هلالُ (2x)Tell me, O crescent moon,

في ليلك القديمِ (2x)In your ancient night,

هل أفصحَ الإمامُ (2x)Did the Imam reveal

عن سرّهِ العظيمِ (2x)His great secret?

ما أخبرَتهُ فاطمFatimah did not tell him

دماً يسيلُ عينا (2x)Blood flowing openly?

من صاحب الزمانِ (2x)From the Master of the Age,

ويندبُ الحسينَAnd he mourns Husayn.

أخبرهُ يا هلالُTell him, O crescent moon,

نحنُ له عيالُWe are his dependents.

أخبرهُ يا هلالُTell him, O crescent moon,

امسح على رؤوسنا مولاناWipe our heads, our Master.
